not quite sure how the low oil shutdown would work on this engine, but im assuming that there is some kind of float in there that could be stuck. or its cracked and sinking to the bottom.
I had the an issue with Honda em 400 generator. It would spark when plug was out and grounded ,, and would start up for a second or two ,then would die pulled plug Found flooded with fuel ,, carb? Removed serviced and same thing ,, so started into the thought of ignition failing ,, after a week of looking and tests i was in the same place and after looking for new parts which there are none found from here to Japan,, and no modification parts or aftermarket parts it sat agin for months when I finally started braking it down I Found that in the muffler hole in the head it was full of carbon deposits which was blocking 80% of the flow. I found it was full of it in the muffler , I pulled about a good 1/2 cup. Of crud out ,, have to finish putting back together for a test run . I hope it will run and I don't have to remove oem parts keeping it an all original little antique .
@thumasta666 it's a vent hose from the crankcase to a shutoff valve

Emery cloth works, but a Point file is a lot better. No risk getting grit into places you don’t want it.
