I was just given a mower with an old gv400 honda engine on it. It had been torn apart more than a decade ago due to a no spark issue. My local auto parts store can get a set of points for it, but not a coil. I've been looking at the chinese ebay ones. I ended up ordering one of those cheap china ones because an OEM coil is just more expensive than i want to spend on this machine. Tha ks for giving me hope that the cheap coil from ebay might actually work!
Thanks for the video. I am doing exactly the same job on an old G400 mounted on a ride on mower. Coil was destroyed by way wood bolt. Motor has lacked maintenance for years . Hope mine starts as easy as yours.
I have one just like it but I don't know how to connect the cables that it has from the starter motor and some that it has that come out of the engine inside
Mine is the CDI and im Wondering if the CDI is Using that Contact as a Pick up and if im able to Use it on a Quad CDI ..... I Havent Taken apart to see What it Looks Like
Great video I have exactly the same motor and I was wondering if I can install a electronic starter on it and if so have you ever made a conversion on one of these motors with video. cheers Bill
I have one, its a generator Honda E3500 it has the same engine, but the engine dont run, i washed the carburator and already checked the spark plug and it sparks, however the engine does not start, What else would i have to do?
I have a honda ems3800 genset with the g400. It has spark and compression and fires a few times on occasion so I'm about to test the valve timing to see if it's skipped a tooth from wear and tear stretch of the timing chain. (It spits a fair bit out the carby as it's winding over) valves are closing properly as it has compression.
