Steve Vai doubled Frank's singing note-for-note later in the studio. The basic track was recorded live in 1980. Vinnie Colaiuta played drums on it and is on the original vinyl release. When Frank remixed this for CD, Chad Wackerman overdubbed the drums.

FZ was improvising, the band was following him in a style he called "Meltdown". Afterwards, Steve Vai transcribed FZ's monologue and then PLAYED IT.

I saw them in Albuquerque New Mexico in 1980
The bass follows Frank's voice note for note and also rhythmically too.... which is really something as you pointed out, hysterical!!
