I can't believe it, Silksong has FINALLY been delayed! We've waited so long for this, this is such a huge moment for the Hollow Knight community. For so many years people seemed to keep saying it was "delayed" even though it actually wasn't. But now, no more! I for one am absolutely ecstatic concerning this news.
Can I preorder the delay? Don't want to get my hopes up too much, but can't help thinking this delay will be better than the previous one.

But unironically the news that it’s delayed is much better than the radio silence
Get a life and touch grass. The game will eventually release this year anyway since they have a deal with Microsoft.
@@izthistle6196 Indeed, I will happily take a confirmed delay over actual radio silence.
There are two key things to understand about Silksong's development timetable:
1. Team Cherry's design process is to keep going until they run out of money.
2. They now have infinite money.

So if people stop buying Hollow Knight we might get Silksong? :/

If only more developers were fortunate enough to be in the position where they can just tell publishers to wait - done when it’s done is how games should be made 👍
Yep, but TC is their own publisher, and they are set for life money wise, so they can take their sweet ass time, and that's a great thing. Game takes so much money, time, efforts, skill and manpower to make. That's indeed a luxury not every games have, because investors and publishers want quick short term profit, have deadlines, bet on getting certain returns of investment before a give date, so they have to pressure game devs to release games in broken states and destroy them, all for the short term profit. To hell with that.
@@Dice-Z Cyberpunk was the perfect example why this style of management is horrible
@@hashtags_YT Cue every single modern Pokemon game

Personally I don’t care if a game is delayed or if the release date isn’t out yet. As long as I know the game is in development that’s all I need. I love hollow knight to death and silk song looks absolutely stunning, so I a really anxious for its release. But I am patient enough to wait calmly and respectfully for it to release. Lol that's exactly my birthday wtf
Call me back when this prophecy is fulfilled
@@ulysselbd4307 we share a birthday!
@@riley530 I will quote you on that
I'm of two minds on this, as always.
On the one hand, Team Cherry should absolutely take as much time as they want and need, and I've little doubt that the finished product will be more than worth it.
On the other hand... I'm legit starting to worry that they're fixated on making the game big and stuffed with content (which isn't itself a bad thing by any means... as long as the content serves the game), and are potentially loading it down with way more than it actually needs. And either way, the added weight is clearly hampering its climb out of development hell.
Whatever the case- I'll wait as long as necessary, but the wait is _really_ starting to take a toll here.
Hollow Knight had a similar problem- Team Cherry really has a hard time deciding when a game is done.
Which is great for the players of the games, but not so great for the people waiting for them.
Yeah I don't give a crap about when it releases, what I'm worried about is 1: what you said and 2: that it's gonne be to similair to the first game. I mean look at popular movie franchises the second movie is mostly just the first but bigger. Like are we gonne have a fallen kingdom again with lots of lore? Now the combat seems to be different enough and with focus on climbing instead of falling team cherry seems to be aware of this to a certain extend. I'm a movie nerd so what I hope for the most is a good story that can keep me engaged for the entirety of this big ass game. Maybe they can change from a lore focused story to an active one to change things up. One last thing cuz I'm spending more time on this comment then team cherry is spending on sillsong is that we need to rember that team cherry is still very new to making games so we dont know much about them. Now this is gonne trigger some people but since their new maybe they just got lucky with hollow knight now to a certain extent I doubt this cuz it's REALY GOOD but seeing people already say Sillksong will be a masterpiece just makes me shake my head.
I get you; My reasoning also goes a similar way. Maybe they are putting things in the base game that they could put afterwards as DLC content as they did with the first game (or maybe not and we will have a massive game from the get go, plus even more potential content later!)
@@Wonkess_Chonkess considering all the info we have, this new world seems waaaay more alive and resonant than the one from the first game. We've already seen plenty of NPC's, towns full of friendly bugs, interesting interactions with most of the NPCs, even with enemies... I'd say it'll be a little bit more dynamic and not so heavily dark souls lore collector focused
@@drantil that's great to hear! Didn't pay to close attention to the trailers so i might've missed that.

I love how they said: it's gotten quite big. That means they just keep going with more and more ideas. I love it
At this point it doesn't matter that much, we waited this long, we can wait a couple more months and have a truly amazing game experience, it's just a bit frustrating how little team cherry actually communicates with us, they just leave us wondering what they are doing, all the time

Bro we gonna get GTA 6 before Silksongs release date is finalized💀💀💀
I feel like the biggest mistake Team Cherry made was announcing the game over four years ago. I can imagine they were excited, and wanted their fans to be excited too, but definitely jumped the gun by a big margin. To be fair though, they probably had the Hornet DLC in mind, but when it became a much bigger project, they needed something to show for. I feel bad for them, but also happy that when Silksong does release, they'll get to relax :D The moral I take from all of this is that games should only be announced a year before their intended release, at most. The less time between the public knowing about a game and its actual release, the better. Makes delays and the wait less disappointing.
P.S. To clarify, I don't really feel one way or the other about the delay. Just wanted to share my personal idea of how all of this has progressed in the last 4+ years, and I hope the people who are most disappointed by this recent news can find their solace 💛
the problem is that it's hard to determine when a game will be released, since while the intended release was june problems or bugs could occur which is normally how delays happen in the first place.
imo they can delay it for as long as they want. because as long as it releases as a finished product and a game they are proud of that's all that matters. if you rush the release it will be bad,but if you delay it until it's done then it will be as good as you imagined it once or releases. delays are better then rushed games. ik you don't have an opinion just wanted to give mine
Silksong is a product of kickstarter milestones that weren't able to fit into hollow knight, so radio silence wasn't really an option for them. The honest fix is to have better communications with the public, but I've been in that situation where you think you can make a deadline and then as it's closing in you realize too late that there's just no way you're going to make it.

@@cass6020 It’s not the overall Development time I’m shocked about - 6-7 years is completely fine for the sequel to one of the greatest games ever by a small team. It’s just the fact that they showed the gameplay reveal far too soon, which made it seem like the game would be out in at most a couple years from then. Most devs just do a splash screen/logo reveal early, then a 20 minute gameplay reveal within a couple years of release.

Taking your time to work out the bugs (you see what i did there) is fair and all. But delaying a game for over 5 years to make it "just right" just reeks of toxic perfectionism and i wonder if the devs have some kind of neurotic tic that makes them unable to let anything slide for the sake of actually getting something fucking out the door already. Their rather nontransparent relationship with their fanbase and lack of any real TWO WAY communication on their discord server doesn't help matters much either.
Its no surprise so much of us are growing tired and disillusioned with them after being neglected and dismissed for so long and this shouldn't have to be some shitty loyalty test as if the ATF is going to burn down team cherry headquarters at any second if we don't become their willing hostages,
something as basic as a bullet point checklist with marked off steps of what part of the project is completed would have been enough to show people the actual STATUS of the production. I want a complete game as much as anybody, but I think there comes a point where you gotta have a deadline of some sort. Still, I'm gonna get the game when it releases and I don't doubt its going to be awesome.
Yeah, I don’t remember what artist said this, but the general idea is “An artist is never ‘finished’ when writing a song, they simply stop writing the song after a certain point and release it”.
There’s always going to be leftover ideas for a game that developers don’t get to implement, because at some point they have to decide “This is good enough, the game is ready for release”.
to be completely honest, Team Cherry didn't speak about the development for so, so, so long. Other parties (XBOX, for instance) have been speaking on their behalf, but not them, so I feel is a little bit unfair to pin this on them. We've seen their work, we've seen what they can do, so let's them finish the job as they envisioned it and maybe we could be staring at one of the best metroidvanias ever created.
@@ArcanaEric I don't know what to say about this. Team Cherry has already gifted us with all those free content updates for the original Hollow Knight. During all this time in development, I'm sure they have come up with material to add later on as DLC, or maybe they don't want to go through it again and are trying to not have to resort to posterior content updates. In any case, that "the game has got quite big" scares, wonders and excites me equally... what kind of monstruous game could be looking up to here?...
To be fair, this was the first time the game has been "delayed" because we never got an official release window. Only now we know that they were aiming for mid 2023 and couldn't quite cut it. Now, the question is, was the June deadline something realistic that they only missed by a few months or were they way off?

There is such a thing as the game getting too big for its own good. Is the pacing going to remain fun and engaging if they extend the experience too far? Maybe, but the game becoming too bloated is a real concern.
My assumption is that they are going for a more polished experience this time around, with a larger focus on the quests and a more intricate combat, since those aspects were the more lacking parts of the first game.
My desire to do anything was already pretty low after some recent events in my life, but this? This kind of killed the last little bit of my motivation that I had.
News is news. I'm just happy to see that TC is still alive.
Silksong is getting the TOTK treatment. They like how it's shaping up, they keep getting new ideas, so it's probably gonna be fantastic.
When devs do this, they *really* ought to be giving us glimpses and snippets of their work and what's holding them up.
Or at least just explain that, yes, it is going to take a lot longer than expected.
well tears of the kingdom is out now so less similarities
There's really no reason why they ought to and there are many reasons why they shouldn't. Plans change all the time when making a game, and a feature that was implemented may not make it into final release. Sharing those work-in-progress plans is half the reason the hype train around No Man's Sky went out of control.
Usually I like jokes like this but NO, the quote at the end was actually from Miyamoto and it went like this:
"A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad. My name is Todd Howard."

Thanks for the information also, love from your spanish community!
Just remember guys, if this game happens to be the final entry in the entire Hollow Knight series before team Cherry moves on to other projects and new series, then you'll definitely want it to be as big and polished as possible. So just let them cook and be patient. There's hundreds of other amazing games to play in the meanwhile, you just gotta find them.
Good way to look at it
no kidding, I've been on PhD thesys writting hell the last year and my bucket list of games to play has grown too much! xD
There is such a thing as keeping a game in development for too long. I’m happy to wait as long as necessary for this game to be polished and complete and solid performance-wise, but with as long as it’s been I’m starting to worry that the dev time is evidence of it being too big, too complicated, or bloated with too much stuff.
I am a little concerned that it's going to be too bloated. :(
I think your logic applies more to large teams. I don't think Cherry is in development hell. I think they are very focused. They're simply artists who suffer from perfectionism. They were given a massive undertaking to outdo themselves, and more funds than they could even use. This massive span of time seems like an inevitable result.
And I don't think "bloating" applies unless a game suffers from _filler_ content. A game dense with *relevant* content will not be "bloated" no matter the girth, and I think we can be sure Team Cherry isn't delaying Silksong in order to overwhelm it with tedium and fluff.
There is no such thing as a truly "overdone" game.
We all saw what Hollow Knight was. It was unecessarily expansive. Yet none of this was reductive to the experience, but the contrary: all of the extras enrichened the experience, because everything that you stumbled upon was relevant. Team Cherry do not make things just for the sake of filling space; all of the content they've created gives the impression of passionate ideas, and I fail to expect anything less of Silk Song. I certainly do not expect a delay is evidence of them muddying the waters.
how in the fuck can a hollow knight game have too much content
I mean, for all you know they're spending this time streamlining the game and cutting unnecessary content. Longer development is rarely bad for quality in itself, it can often mean more time to refine and perfect. I doubt it's a situation like Geometry Dash 2.2, where Robtop keeps on being like "Oh hey look at all these wacky and wonky new features I added, but I pwomise it'll be out soon uwu!!!" after 6 and a half years and counting
@@beefboss5979 any game can have too much content. It might be hard to imagine because Hollow Knight is so airtight, but if you try to add too many ideas or mechanics they’ll start to make each other worse.
Is anyone really surprised here? Hope it comes out good. Getting a little scared that they may have fallen into feature creep, but I still have pretty high hopes for it.
I'm not getting my hype up because of this, I think it's still important to temper expectations with new releases even if you have faith in them. Be smart consoomers everyone!! Don't forget!
It's Nailmaster Matover
Ha
Ho
The ending absolutely killed me. Shine on indeed
I'm glad we got some news at least. I just hope they work on it at a comfortable pace and don't burn themselves out. I wish we'd get news about Metroid Prime 4...
I felt that
Dang he even checked the community notes
WAIT they have a marketing director? Absolutely no offence to him but where has he been this whole time??
He doesn't market the game without Team Cherry's approval, he doesn't just tell them "Make a trailer" or "Post a blog", he advises them to communicate more, but if they refuse, he won't do anything. He also handles stuff like making new merch, helping fans if they encountered a problem, coming up with riddles, and recently, he started interacting with the community more. He also works for other game studios.
You're acting like the game is already out and hasn't been marketed.... when the time to market the game comes. Then you will notice it being marketed.
Times were simpler back when the world didn't demand knowledge of future games, and just learned about them when they came out...
I've honestly been skeptical if the game would really release so soon so it's not too disappointing for me. I'm actually kind of glad because, this way, Silksong won't fall into the same release window as Tears of the Kingdom, which might have caused unnecessary competition. (Yes, they're two different genres, but they'd be two big games with big fanbases that partially overlap and release only a month apart)
I don't care about the delay but TEAM CHERRY PLEASE COMMUNICATE MORE
team cherry devs left all social media so they cant be pressured while making the game, seeing people complain about how long it took to develop the game is really unhealthy, and communicating each step theire taking is the opposite of that
YOU HIT 400K!!!
I'm personally not really disappointed. A bit let down that the 12th June release date is no longer the case, yes. But overall, I'm just happy that Team Cherry finally communicated! It's the only thing that fans REALLY want right now, and this transparency is something to be happy about, at least in my book!
They literally had no choice, this is not transparency!
@@lunarkomet exactly
@Lunar Komet They did have a choice. They could've said nothing. They decided not to do that.
Since nothing followed up after the 12th of June release date announcement, not kind of disproval, it was up to them to voice at least something if it wasn't correct. Now that they did, that's what I'm happy about.
They could've as well just decided to let it roll, but that would've been catastrophic.
I hope it at least releases in 2023 at all
@@lunarkomet no choice??? They could just release it unfinished.
I'm glad there's any news at all, it's been silent for so long
My best friend owes me $20 because of this.
Honestly I’mma wait patiently always because I want them to sprinkle all the love they have into it. I loved hollow knight so I know this one is gonna be good too! Especially when you wait for something then it’s all the more sweeter. ❤️ I’m so excited!
Somehow never got the notification for this or the sub box.
I loved the moment when Team Cherry said it's Cherry-time and cherried all over Silksong
The most surprising thing I learned is that TC has a marketing director
Personaly , take as much time as y’all need , I’m more than happy to get the perfect sequel and if you need the second half go for it
I just got a new Zelda game. I can wait for awhile.
I was in sixth grade of middle school when silksong got announced... now I'm in F*CKING 3rd grade of high school 💀 And I can't even know if I will play through silksong before finishing high school.
This is reminding me of other games that flew to close to the sun while trying to *infinitely* expand their game world
It’s almost like George RR Martin joined Team Cherry.
Tbh I think that team cherry is kinda killing the HK community due to the blatant radio silence
I'm honestly glad I only started playing hollow knight in 2021, I don't think I could wait all those years
i started in 2023
@@just-someone99 nice
what's your opinion on when we will get some form of info @@sonicjhiq
@@just-someone99 we'll hear something this year, but it probably won't release until next if not later
I was about to comment that he posted this in may but then i realized, he waited to see if the game *might* actually release in June so the video wouldn’t be redundant.
My response to this announcement has been an exasperated but thoroughly unsurprised "Alright..."
