That's what BB KING said also in an interview about Stevie Ray Vaughan . Good music tells a story and Stevie never got lost in his stories , he always knew what was next , he just flows . Well that's exactly how David Gilmore plays as well. Definitely one of the GREATEST GREATS!!!
He never tried to supplant Syd Barrett, but helped Floyd move onwards, always respecting Syd 's importance within the band . A nice guy, hope he and Roger can make up for a final super-gig.
@@mingfinger Syd was only with the band a relatively short time, but it's amazing how long his influence with the band stayed. Struggling with mental illness is a recurring theme with Pink Floyd's work, no doubt at least some of it as a nod to Syd. I hope he was able to beat the demons of addiction and schizophrenia before he died. I don't know, with Richard gone now, a reunion wouldn't be the same. I think we'll have to be content with the Live 8 videos from 2005. Besides, who knows how long it will be before can gather in massive crowds like we see in this video again?
David Gilmore is truly a God! Can’t imagine being able to bring 50,000 people to tears with such emotion!! I watched him up- close in the 80s and now with songs from The Wall;; Especially COMFORTABLY NUMB!! I have played guitar for 30 years and still get Absolutely Numb watch that man!! Mr Gilmore is a Asset TO ALL HUMANS on this planet and his music will play on LONG after he has arrived in Heaven!!! God himself will welcome David Gilmore!!! Rock on Sir !!! We ALL ARE LISTENING!!!!
The fact that these young people are almost all singing along is amazing. Some of them are in tears. This is a remarkable video of an incredible performance. Musical genius stays alive forever and Gilmour is one of the geniuses of the music revolution of the 60's & 70's.
I have only recently discovered this version of Comfortably Numb and hands down I think it is the best version out there, the guitar solo here is just incredible. Best song ever!!!
When this song gets uplaoded you watch it everytime knowing no matter how many times you've heard it you'll get chills across your entire body. If you don't you're not human. Music dies a little more each time we lose a member of this band. R.I.p. richard wright and Sid.
While we all deeply miss Syd and Rick, the fabulous music of Pink Floyd will resonate through the coming ages, alongside such classic masters as Bach, Beethoven and Verdi. People will listen to "Comfortably Numb" in hundreds of years time and it will never grow old. 😋
Mark Shakur Thank you for saying that!!!! That song is so powerful in its presence that young people of today have the same reaction to it like I did in 1975. I love when younger generations appreciate a music group from my youthful day’s.
I have listened to this epic epic song hundreds of times in the past 42 years and I am never tired of it !!!! You can tell how old I am... lol Master DAVID is the Real MASTER... period!! I am also glad the young folks are enjoying it as well, that's the good thing, the bad thing is I am not quite sure if there will be another similar Master David again in the future to replace the Original Master David........ Greetings to all and enjoy Life....
DG gives it 110% EVERY TIME. That was maybe the best nine minutes I've ever spent. And the crowd reaction during the final windup was priceless. Since he's played that, what, maybe 500 times, a normal mortal would have a hard time getting it up, but not David Gilmour. I do believe he must have a sense of history when he plays it and realizes this is something every one in that audience is probably going to remember for the rest of their lives.
Probably the most incredible version I've come across thus far, and there are many incredible versions. David was really feeding off of the audience's energy here. He went long. Amazingly long.
Sitting on the sea front in Galway listening to this masterpiece ❤️ today the 23/8/21 I'm 6 years clean and sober...oh the simple pleasures of life..🙏😊
One of the best guitar solos of all time, a song that reaches the soul, I never tire of listening to it, Gilmour or Pink Floyd are from other advanced civilizations 💊💉💪🏽👍🏽
After another flawless performance, how can David Gilmour NOT be acclaimed as the greatest rock guitarist of all time?! His sublime skill and talent puts him miles ahead of other greats such as Hendrix, Clapton et al. His music has moved and touched people for half a century, and hopefully will do so for another 50 years. God Bless you David.
Because it was Jimi Hendrix and Clapton who laid the foundation for how the guitar is gonna be played in the coming years. Gilmour is my favorite guitarist and musician, but Hendrix's greatness can't be really matched.
Abraham Jebaze I’m sorry mate but have to disagree while Hendrix was good yes but to put it this way Hendrix was like a street fighter where Gilmour is more of a professional boxer with class
With everything that is going on in the world today, everyone should listen to this sensational piece of music and immerse themselves in Gilmour's wonderfully emotional playing.
I attended the Santiago, Chile show and you can't imagine the energy of people in their 70's to teenagers and kids enjoying and crying because of this moment, we always have to wait lots of years, even DECADES for being able to see bands and musicians playing the music of our life in our countries. This video perfectly show our joy, emotion and happines. Hope to see you back here David. Ps. Best concert ever, and i've been in A LOT of concerts.
I am getting goosebumps all over the body every time I listen to this song and the ending guitar solo. This amazing part of rock history, 40 years old an still one of the best ever written and played by one of the best guitarists, if not the best, of all century

their are only a few people on earth who bring you to tears just doing what they do, every time. David Gilmour just has it. always has. so glad he loves to do it too. hope he realises just how many people, generations he has touched and adore what he is.
What a treat for our South American brothers and sisters to see an immortal musician like Gilmour that us in the West have gotten a chance to see live every now and then.
Comfortably Numb is one of the best songs ever created. You can certainly enjoy the singing.. or take it that the words are just foreplay for the guitar solo. This song never gets old, no matter the decade or event it gets played.
It is certainly one of the most terrifying songs. ‘When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse/Out of the corner of my eye/I turned to look but it had gone/I could not put my finger on it/The child has grown, the dream has gone/And I have become comfortably numb.’ Describes so many people…
I love how at 4:14 this girl can not hold her tears any longer, I guess all of us Floyd fans have experienced that tears of joy feeling. Very beautiful....
There simply are no words. I'm both sad and happy. Sad because I likely will never see another such incredible musical genius playing with such artistry again. Happy because I was born at a time where I have been able to love, appreciate and feel this song for 51 years of my life, and I love it more every single time I hear it. It makes me tear up, lump in throat, and waves of emotion come over me. Every.single.time. This is part of me. If someone doesn't appreciate this music, then Heaven help them, for they are lost!!!
The greatest rock song ever written, No ifs or butt's- and including the finest guitar solo in all time. No more to be said - good night and god bless 🙏🙏🙏
What can we say after that ? David Gilmour. The Crowd. The Sound. The Solo. My Mac screen is full of tears. Peace (and Good Health) to all of youGgood People out there.

Oh and the Last Dinner Party. Forget the radio pop stuff- go out and explore. Have fun, whatever you do and enjoy life ❤.
I'm 68 now and one of the many best things about being this old is having been able to see PF so many times beginning in 1971 that I've lost count. To this day Mr. Gilmour is the only guitarist and this the only solo that's ever made me wipe away streams of tears. And it still does.

Listen music 24'- 7 Got Places, Person's N things to go to N taking MUSIC with me ! CANT even imagine a WORLD without MUSIC it would definitely be deafening !!!!! Hope on board ( Button)
The GREATEST on stage solo EVER! I will watch this until it is no longer available. Watched it like 100 times now
Only 100 times ??
David Gilmour doesn't just play the guitar. He tells a story with it.
I usually tell people that DG has no tabs for his solos, he has lyrics.
Perfectly stated. Completely true.
You could perhaps spell his name correctly.
I would place this live version 2nd after "Pulse".
Yes. Agreed. Best version of the solo.
Listen to Pompeii 2016
1. Pulse 2. Pompei 3. This
Then from 4 till 100 any other version he played of it. And then other artists may take a spot.
Look into ‘Live in Dgansk.’
I'm 51 and still watching young people getting emotional like I did 30 years ago.. Pink Floyd, long live David Gilmour
The kids today are so lucky they can listen all the good music of 60s 70s 80s
Mark Shakur goosebumps every time I hear it!
I don't remember how many times I listened it
Quite literally the best song ever composed.
Even though I love The Wall, when CNumb hits it’s like the whole mood changes. No other song on no other album has that effect.
donr forget stairway to heaven and bohemian rhapsody
Since I ve been lovin you , Led Zep , n so more ....Musik s Precious...xxx
Agreed!
I have listened to this epic epic song hundreds of times in the past 42 years and I am never tired of it !!!! You can tell how old I am... lol
Master DAVID is the Real MASTER...
Without a doubt..I don't think there is a performer in the world that can deliver an ecstacy like David Gilmour can.
Beautiful comment! :)
Probably the most incredible version I've come across thus far, and there are many incredible versions. David was really feeding off of the audience's energy here. He went long. Amazingly long.
After that solo, my mind is completely blown. That touched every nerve and every emotion. Other worldly.
Pompeii 2016 is absolutely the most beautiful version of this solo.
@@oriavraham3877, yeah, that one used to be my favorite, but this one beats it IMHO.
Sitting on the sea front in Galway listening to this masterpiece ❤️ today the 23/8/21 I'm 6 years clean and sober...oh the simple pleasures of life..🙏😊
So happy for you. I'm still not there....................
@@SuperRiziero never ever ever give up, sending you best wishes ♥️
One of the best guitar solo I ever heard.
Parabéns a toda Banda !!!
One of the best guitar solos of all time, a song that reaches the soul, I never tire of listening to it, Gilmour or Pink Floyd are from other advanced civilizations 💊💉💪🏽👍🏽
Guitarrista extraordinário. Cantor excepcional. Produção espetacular. Isso é música de verdade.
Vdd sem palavras!!!!

Wow, your expression of enjoyment in Portuguese really is wonderful. It's not only nice to hear, but it is nice to 'SEE' your words. Thank you Jose.
Please tell me how this rock langue transcends of all nations !
@@denysmith9469 that is true! That is why I said eventhough Jimi is acknowledged more, Gilmour and Hank Marvin are my favorites
Abraham Jebaze true mate you have my respect
Pros wears black
With everything that is going on in the world today, everyone should listen to this sensational piece of music and immerse themselves in Gilmour's wonderfully emotional playing.
Agreed.
The best solo of all time period.
Timeless Beautiful
Fact
Yep
The Master on Guitar
Slick beautiful and timeless

Where is it Fabio?
@@paulhalfpenny1139 Errrr.......São Paulo Brazil (tells you in the description!)
Why?
I have recently become interested in this band 47 years to late. But I wished I was there.
I want to cry too whenever I listen to this. Don't know why. From intense joy or feeling touched by music.
One of the Greatest solos ever.
"The"
4:11 the absolute power of music simply amazing, emotionally South American crowds are something else.
This is the legend performing. David the legend.
Amen!
their are only a few people on earth who bring you to tears just doing what they do, every time.
Ciao a tutte
yahhh
It is certainly one of the most terrifying songs. ‘When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse/Out of the corner of my eye/I turned to look but it had gone/I could not put my finger on it/The child has grown, the dream has gone/And I have become comfortably numb.’ Describes so many people…
Always plays it different every time BECAUSE he can!!! Pure legend this solo is just!!! No words can describe, full of pure emotions tells a story
I love how at 4:14 this girl can not hold her tears any longer, I guess all of us Floyd fans have experienced that tears of joy feeling. Very beautiful....
The child has grown. The dream is gone.
I think they were tears of emotion. This song goes under the skin...well it does with me...since 40 odd years.
It’s chokes me up every time I see that cut... such raw emotion. An absolutely beautiful moment... ❤️
The greatest rock song ever written,
No ifs or butt's- and including the finest guitar solo in all time.
No more to be said - good night and god bless 🙏🙏🙏

Martin Powell... TRUTH !!
What can we say after that ? David Gilmour. The Crowd. The Sound. The Solo. My Mac screen is full of tears. Peace (and Good Health) to all of youGgood People out there.

When I saw that girl start to cry... What a beautiful song. Musical art isn't made like this anymore. And yes,.. the guitar solo ever.......STUNNING!!!!!!!!!.. southwalesoutdoors.. took the feelings right out of my body
I saw Pink Floyd in 1994 and was pretty close to the stage. I remember specifically watching Gilmour during the solo for Comfortably Numb and thinking I would never see something so phenomenal in person ever again. I was right.

David Gilmour was born to be the Guitar King on this planet, he’s the best
Greatest guitar solo in rock history
I think everybody who listening this unbelievable song feeling the same as that girl hiding her face to hand...actually period...you're on the edge of crying with ambivalent impresses... full of unname sadness but also same of sweet relief
Now that’s what I call legendary
This song has gone down in history as having the best guitar solo ever

If a song is this great and a solo this amazing it doesn't matter how old it is. It will always inspire and move people!

How can one not be ‘blown away’ by this - me 67 in a few days time and I still love this type of music and recent discoveries - Muse ( a while ago), Don Bronco, Rammerstein, Ghost… all spelling mistakes are mine!
I know what your saying but, Stevie Rey Von.
Melhor banda do mundo, melhores músicas do mundo. Melhor música!
I'm 72 Gilmour was a god when I was 25, he is a god now.
I'm the same age! Never get tired of listening to PF and the other great 60's and 70's bands.
Right behind you, my friend. Just turned 70 today and I am unashamed to say that this one in particular still sends tears streaming down my face.
There’s a complete absence of lyrics or meaning in today’s music. My son always Asks me why do I cry listening to this song. It’s so relevant even today.
hopefully someday our children will listen to this and shed a tear .
It reminds us of our younger, happy days before we took on the burden of responsibility to our kids and wider family, when we we were more carefree , Surendra. We remember old friends and good times from an era when life held so much hope and promise.
One day, in the future, he will listen to this and perhaps cry even more than you.

El mejor solo de la historia. Gilmour es único
Rarely does it happen that a guitar solo brings tears to your eyes
He gets me every time, and it's always a little different each time, but always amazing , moving and elevates me to another plane of existence .
Yeah, never made it through dry eyed. It touches something in creation. Brothers in Arms and While My Guitar Gently Weeps touch different, but as deep tearful places like that.
