    I was scrolling through an online estate sale auction on my phone while watching this video. About 3/4 through the video I see the ungraded C3PO error card pop up on my phone in NM condition with a starting bid of $5. I immediately put a bid in based on what I watched in your video and won the card for $5,. I would have ignored it otherwise. Thanks man!

    Funny thing is that prior to the summer of 1994, NOONE wanted a Lotus, Moxen or those "Shitty" double lands (Duals). We'd pull a dual and curse ourselves for not getting a big creature like Shivan Dragon or Force of Nature. I remember someone trading away a Mox Emerald for a Keldon Warlord and the other kids said the Keldon kid got ripped off getting a "crappy artifact" for a great creature.
    My how times changed when speedy mana proved big creatures were garbage.

    Hello. Can any one tell me when PSA allows 60/40 centering on the front of a PSA Gem 10 card? I've looked at hundreds of cards now from the early 80's to the present and couldn't find a card with worse than 55/45 centering in either direction on the front. This is in spite of the fact that PSA says in their grading description on their web site that the front centering standard is, "not to exceed approximately 55/45 to 60/40 percent on front"

    • @DeadGuyCardboard
      @DeadGuyCardboard  4 года назад

      I really can't help you there. I'm sure somewhere a card exists with 60/40 centering.

      glad to hear! No, I don’t own any of these cards. The scans were taken from the internet. Non-sports collecting is a lot of fun. I might post a follow up video to this.

    THanks for posting. I've been collecting vintage non sport for about 30 years. I mod a group on Facebook for old non sport buy/ sell/ trade show etc. It's called Vintage Non Sports Cards Pre 1984 Maybe some of your viewers would be interested. Also I bought a lot of my collection through the Les Davis Publication- The Wrapper Magazine. You have some of the rareest cards I've ever seen.. the Wild West outfit and I'm Going To Be are next to impossible to find.. I don't really get why the Look N See Rembrandt is so valuable... but it is. Right ow I'm working on completing a 1940 Gum Inc Lone Ranger set... I have 44 / 48 so far... hopefully I can finish.

    I can't understand why so many collectors have their cards PSA graded now a days. lol like nobody wants to buy cards anymore unless those PSA assholes have verified it. PSA should just be to authenticate if its real or not, thats it!! who are they to say if a card is graded at a 2 or a 10. thats just a matter of opinion

    Its really good to see some card videos out of the ultramodern sphere. Ive heard about the Marquis card being the 1st card ever produced never actually seen one up close! And never knew there was a Zeenut Fatty Arbuckle quite a rarity he was one of the first victims of cancel culture

    • @DeadGuyCardboard
      @DeadGuyCardboard  3 года назад

    Great video Ben!! I need to catch up on a few of your other vids. It's always a learning experience. The C-3P0 card made me laugh. I have never heard of the Marquis of Lorne card so that was very interesting. I have toyed with the idea of putting together the 1976 Star Trek Set but again I don't want too many irons in the fire. Do you currently own any non sports cards?

    • @DeadGuyCardboard
      @DeadGuyCardboard  5 лет назад

      No I don't actually, but after doing all this research, it has made me want to pick up a few. I did technically have a Pokemon Charizard back in the day, but I would love to pick up a Hulk Hogan.

    Im not into sports cards but im drawn to your channel, great content and history. However, id like to correct your valuation of the First Ed Charizard. A PSA 10 is in the ballpark of $40k

    • @DeadGuyCardboard
      @DeadGuyCardboard  5 лет назад

      Where are you seeing $40k? SMR and all of ebay's recent sold listings have it go for around $14K.

    Seems as if value wasn't a very significant factor, but I am sure I speak for many casual viewers of your content when suggesting that adding the rough estimated value of the cards featured in actual dollar amounts would add much to the video. Of course, in referring to these obscure items it won't be possible, but when it is it's interesting.

    • @DeadGuyCardboard
      @DeadGuyCardboard  5 лет назад

      Yeah, I considered putting the price, but the way prices have fluctuated across all cards they would have been dated very quickly. And in this list I wanted it to not necessarily be in the order of most valuable. Value certainly played a role, but so did hobby significance and rarity.

    There's only one holy grail and that's the cup of Jesus Christ at the last supper around 33 A.D. "Holy grail" should not be used as substitute for rare cards but unfortunately it is abused in the secular context.
