I did this on my deck a while back already, but this is another really good video explaining the process Alex. Your Yuzu vid, particularly the rom manager part (it was driving me mad), helped me out a lot so thanks for that.
Just got my steam deck today and your videos have helped me so much with getting my deck all set up and customized. Thank you! You truly are a blessing to youtube.
At this point, Valve should just hire you. You show passion for the device, the OS and really research everything and are able explain it very good and even for noobs understandable way. I watched many of your SteamDeck related videos, despite not even having one.
great video thanks! i just downloaded Diablo 4 and wanted to add the artwork for it. How did you have all those images for that game already? do I have to find the image and save it first before i can add it? Thank you!
Not going to lie I really want a Steam Deck but I don't know if I should wait it out because I have a strong feeling in about a year or 2 valve might release a better version of the current steam deck not a steam deck 2 or anything but a "pro" version. One with a OLED screen, improved better life, maybe a 1-2 terabyte NvMe SSD
It probably would be "Deck 2" but it being essentially a PC it's the equivalent of it being a " pro" version. Basically going from a 5 year old laptop to a 2 year old one. I'd pull the trigger on getting one. Get the cheapest deck and buy the biggest SD card you can and you're gonna be set.
You'll never buy anything in that case. Deck is a PC ultimately so there will be a newer better one along in due course. Just buy one anything it runs fine now will still run fine. There's 1000s of games available not including emulation🤷. Also you can already change out the SSD if you learn how to do it. SteamOS already offers very good SD card read and write speeds if you buy a quality SD card so you can easily have a TB through the SD slot.
Just quick question does it not gonna change how the deck change to activate dev mod I just received mine and I don’t want to kill it I’m just a little worried
You have to be on the stable update channel for this to work. I was on preview and Decky didn't show up after I had installed it. Switching to stable fixed it.
This makes me very excited for the desktop release of steam os 3! I will be switching from pop os over to it for sure, especially with all this community support. Thank you for the great content Alex keep it up!
HDR support is actually coming for external displays, its just had issues on linux due to the separated stack, but cause valve controls all of it, the door is open, and cause they're keeping it open source, it will benefit the whole community.
it actually wins when it comes to performance per watt, but it can't beat them at full load (though at full load, they have a battery life of like 30 mins). though the deck has some big adbvantages that more than make up for any lack of power >more inputs (touchpads and gyro are crucial for playing more PC oriented games) >steamOS being a far nicer OS for handheld gaming (steamOS doesn't fully support other devices yet and you can run run windows if you need to, so you're not shackled to it). >and much better support (valve is alot larger)
Still just chillin with Windows 10 on the deck ( since Windows 11 isn't "fully" supported by Valve yet ) the difference between streaming games & having them downloaded natively is immense IMO & the way to go to aviod any lag issues which no matter how good your internet connection is you will ALWAYS have some issues especially with larger GB size games
Appreciate all of your amazing tips for the steam deck Alex you are the only RUclipsr I know that goes so in depth with it keep it up you wonderful himbo 👍👍
Thnx Alex, I'll check it out. HDR input definitely looks better on Deck than sdr. How do I know you ask? You can stream HDR games from a PC to the deck. It's not just the color that looks better it's also the gradation from highlights to shadows that looks much better defined with an HDR signal even though it's displayed on an sdr screen.
How in the world are you streaming HDR? I've been looking for a solution for years because everything is SDR including Discord, Steam streaming, Zoom, and Proton (remote access tool).
yes i saw a tutorial about adjusting that --> ruclips.net/video/qt7l2_SmGnc/видео.html (Ex:7 days to die needed more Ram and Performance to run naturally and after following another tutorial it ran smoothly without crashing)
I clicked on this video to see how to add HDR to Steam Deck, and this isn't what I was expecting. Vibrant isn't HDR. Maybe that's wide color gamut, but it sounds like you literally mean oversaturated colors.
@@AkuAku695 that's not at all what HDR does, so it's not going to imitate it. It's just saturation sliders for red green and blue, over saturating isn't going to simulate a wider colour gamut or improve gradients. It's common for screens to be too blue so turning blue and maybe green down a few notches might give you a more accurate white point but that's the best you could hope for.

Favorite steam deck tutorials, straight forward to the point and no dumb shit or interruptions. The best my guy 🤘🔥
I’ve had Decky installed for about 9 months and am kicking myself for not trying more of these sooner 😂
Thanks Alex. Is it okay to disable dev mode after installing or does it needs to stay on for these plugins to work correctly? Great tutorial!
i wonder the same thing

how you go about updating Decky and the individual plug ins? is it automatic or do you have to manually check for it everytime?

this has the aur you install flat packs from discover after enabling them

No point enabling HDR, the Steam Deck display is an IPS panel that only reaches 400 nits and 8-bit colour. No benefit, likely looks worse.
