    It has come to my attention that Red Dead Redemption has a bug where if you change the Frame Buffer size from 1GB to 4GB it will not auto allocate past 4GB. All other games to my knowledge at the moment work fine and can actually get an increase in performance.
    Regarding A1 vs A2 SD cards, I am going based on US pricing, but some A2 cards are as cheap as A1 cards, so why not get the faster card. Doesn't mean you have to, I would just shop around and see what best suits you. A1 cards are still great and perform very well.

    • @Dravpin
      @Dravpin 2 года назад +8

      i read somewhere that the steam deck sd card reading is capped at 100mbs so i mean if the price is the same as an a1 why not buy an a2 right but for people on a budget woulnt it be better to buy an a1?

    • @Shahrukh_Ali
      @Shahrukh_Ali  2 года назад +9

      @@Dravpin I have a video coming up about this, but another thing to keep in mind is the write speeds when installing games. The A1 cards that I have take a while to install games, the A2 card I just got installs them significantly faster. But yes keep your budget in mind and if an A1 card makes more sense, by all means get an A1.

    • @Dravpin

      @@Shahrukh_Ali i didnt think of write speeds interesting looking forwards to the video

    • @abbzky
      @abbzky 2 года назад +1

      Will there be any issues when playing red dead redemption in changing the frame buffer size from 1 to 4? or it is still ok if I does not auto allocate past to 4gb? thanks

    • @Shahrukh_Ali

      @High TIMES I love it, it has been a breath of fresh air. The battery life can be quite poor depending on what time of game you play so I would suggest buying a power bank when you can (if you plan to use it on the go) but obviously you can play with it plugged in for however long you like. Overall I have been very impressed. I've played and completed God of War, Uncharted and Days Gone, to name a few and they all look and run brilliant on the deck. I've been very happy with my purchase and I still use it on a regular basis.

    One that is kind of similar to emulation in that it is for the steam deck but doesn't come with it, people should try to install decky for the steam deck which is just steam deck homebrew and it allows users to install extensions and stuff, really cool and one of the most popular extensions lets users change the vibrancy of their deck since the steam deck's display sometimes seems a bit dull
    edit: just saw that you seem to also already use it, surprised it isn't on the list

    • @Shahrukh_Ali
      @Shahrukh_Ali  2 года назад +8

      It's a great extension, I 100% agree, wasn't on the list as its something you should install after playing with the Steamdeck first. I am going to make another video for it specifically but I appreciate you suggesting it!

    battery calibration is actually obsolete, it was only useful back in the olden days with nickel batteries. Li-Po (Lithium Polymer) batteries are very sensitive with charging cycles and they have an IC (integrated circuit) that controls the battery and is factory calibrated to its respective device. For the best battery performance it is recommended to keep it between 25-85%.

    • @Shahrukh_Ali
      @Shahrukh_Ali  2 года назад +5

      There were reports of the battery health not being properly reported. Mine was reporting at 83% health after a weeks worth of use. Which is why I include this battery calibration step as it is also recommended to do by iFixit when you change the battery itself.

    I wouldn't recommend setting frame buffer size to 4gb unless you know what you need and want. The main reason is that it might affect how steam deck verified games run. For example Devil May Cry 5 crashes from time to time with 4gb, because the memory runs out and it doesn't have time to adjust. I would recommend keeping it at 1gb or at most 2gb and increase it if you have a specific game that requires it.

      There are a small amount of games that are affected but most games do benefit from it. If it does cause an issue it’s easy to revert back.

      @@Shahrukh_Ali I haven't tried a game yet that runs better with 4gb compared to 2gb. Do you have any examples?

    The crave powerbank will charge your steam deck from 0 to 100 six times before it die out, it's expensive at 249 but it got a 50000mah battery that will basically let you play all day

    You can change the brightness of the deck by holding the 3 dot menu button and flicking the left stick up or down

      Actually it’s the steam button, hold down the steam button and flick the left thumb stick up or down to increase or decrease the brightness

    No biggie here, but APU is Accelerated Processing Unit, not Advanced Processing Unit.
    Great video btw :)

    my tip as a new steam deck user (and pc gaming in general) is to wait for the summer/winter/autumn sales on steam

      Sammmee. I love to tinker so thought I would spend the first 100 hours modding, emulating and getting other non steam games on there. But tbh I've been so addicted to just playing games on it I haven't even done any of that yet.
      Haven't touched my desktop in a month ☠️

    Great tips. Just bought a Steam Deck and those are very useful. I'm not happy with the battery formatting necessity though. I thought those3 times are long gone....

      Some people including myself had an issue where the battery health was misreported. Doing what I explained as calibrating fixed that issue.
