    American here , we used to stake a big chain on the bank (ends) with the length running in channel where they build, then hook to the tractor and pull it through the dam.
    The water scours the ditch pretty clean.

  • @Thea_MojaveOutliersWhipmakers
    @Thea_MojaveOutliersWhipmakers Год назад +9

    I suspect that once a dam (especially one that you haven't removed before) gets to about 6ft high or so, then the base of it is going to be too broad and too deep under water at the back to allow you to get the whole thing to collapse. You can get the top couple of feet, of course. But don't forget, getting big fluffy chunks out of the dam with your hot rod potato rake is also extremely satisfying, they don't all have to be apocalyptic collapses! :)

    • @Thea_MojaveOutliersWhipmakers
      @Thea_MojaveOutliersWhipmakers Год назад +3

      The NEXT dam at this location, if they rebuild it, will be a good candidate for apocalyptic collapse, if you don't give them enough time to really build it up.

  • @richardphelan8414
    @richardphelan8414 Год назад +2

    Lots of mud = a older dam ,Much more difficult for you to get that sudden collapse ,I know all your fans like to see ,that sudden release of a wall of water is awesome to watch ,but there's probably a meter of mud behind that dam ,Very hard work for you to open to ground level ,Keeping these canals free flowing is very important to the farmers and their fields for future crops .
