For me I personally enjoy these long dialogues Ron sets up, since he's setting the scene with those details about how it felt at the time. It's relatable to me and reminds me of when I used to bomb at job interviews when I first got out of college. Just that gut wrenching feeling of rejection/inadequacy is so painful at the time, that's why I enjoyed his long form detailed story in this case. But to be fair, today I was just looking for a casual listen while doing chores. If you wanted comedic/career advice, this would have been a super long winded way to get it for sure.

I live in the south and there are probably hundreds of guys very much like Ron, they simply never tried standup because it isn't part of the culture so the only outlet is parties talking drunk making everyone laugh.

Im solo in a hotel longer than an hour and it gets lonely as hell. Respect to comedians dealing with that 9 months out of the year i too would be at the club on off days and down time needing human interaction a buddy of mine gave it up cause he said the road was the ultimate depression starter

Joe is the anti- Howard Stern, has the ability to just sit and listen- Stern would have cut him off 30 seconds into the story and gone onto something else
I've never really watched Stern because I never found him to be that interesting, but he must really interrupt alot; because I already thought that Rogan interrupts too much.
Got to meet Ron about 2 years ago in Dallas when he was promoting his Tequila and he was the nicest guy and even when he isn't being the comic legend he is still funny as hell

Good for you Ron. You and Joe worked for where you are now. Joe’s right people don’t care about age on stage, people just want to laugh and escape reality for a few hours. One of the funniest comics I have seen lately was a man in his 70’s talking to a crowd of millennials. He was goofing on their differences in technology and culture. He was extremely funny.
I kept thinking Ron was setting up a joke with that story. What a damn rollercoaster. Hard to believe the one and only Tater Salad hit such a low point.
life is a hard teacher, Ron is funny and I enjoy his routines, thank God there are people like him that take the bunch and share his life stories with the rest of us. So we can laugh.
What I've learned from this interview is always bring a bag of popcorn wherever you go. And leave a trail so you know where you've been. Don't ask me why.
Ron's comedy, to me, reminds me of this story he just told. The story was a punch in the gut, and that's how his stories feel to me. Gut busters. Takes you on a ride and then bam, take your wind away with a joke. One of the best right there.
My dad used to love listening to Ron White in the 90’s, especially when we were at family gatherings or we were camping. He and my aunts would laugh, and they’d listen to Jeff Foxworthy and Ron White on CD and I remember that from my childhood. Now that I’m an adult, I’ve found MYSELF listening to Ron White all over again, and finding a lot of the things he says are relevant to me. Like this story about failure so many of us can relate to. That’s how you know he’s truly a great speaker, and he’s grown in leaps and bounds. Also, he’s funny AF. “It’s not THAT the wind is blowing, it’s WHAT the wind is blowing.” Nobody can replicate his style or delivery.

Whether it's the stage afraid of bombing or fear of failing. Either it will suck the life out of you or be amazed of what drive can come out of you to do better. The times I remember being flat broke and got myself in money problems and got myself out of the hole was fear of losing the roof over my head and living in my car.

Good story to hear...i Wanted to be acting for years but always been mental basically... That whole time maybe 20 years the biggest show in New Zealand was shortland Street a hospital drama... Last year I got a good agent and last week I get an audition for that show...i Learn the lines back to front... I'm a bit nervous at the audition and forget 1 line... My feedback was "doesn't know how to audition and didn't know lines... Good look for an extra with no lines" .... Can be pretty brutal.... Ron White is just naturally funny, he's one of my favorite comics, the guy always cracks me up.

I live in the south and there are probably hundreds of guys very much like Ron, they simply never tried standup because it isn't part of the culture so the only outlet is parties talking drunk making everyone laugh.
I love the message of this clip. It doesn't matter how many times you stumble or fall, just don't quit. Look at every failure as an opportunity to learn and move on.
Ron White has to be one of the top 5 living comics. He keeps getting better, too.
Maybe top 15. He's definitely behind: Chappelle, Chris Rock, Bill Burr, Louise CK, Eddie Murphy, Kat Williams, Seinfeld, Jeff Ross, Dave Atell... etc etc. He's made a crap ton of money from the trailer park segment of society with the Blue Collar crew(a couple of them are funnier than him too) & more power to him to do it... but he's not a top 5 comic

Im solo in a hotel longer than an hour and it gets lonely as hell. Respect to comedians dealing with that 9 months out of the year i too would be at the club on off days and down time needing human interaction a buddy of mine gave it up cause he said the road was the ultimate depression starter

Completely agree. Doesn't make me laugh at all. My apologies but you can't be an everything man. He is a great host on his podcast, has excellent insight etc., but when I hear him refer to himself as a comic I cringe.

Good for you Ron. You and Joe worked for where you are now. Joe’s right people don’t care about age on stage, people just want to laugh and escape reality for a few hours. One of the funniest comics I have seen lately was a man in his 70’s talking to a crowd of millennials. He was goofing on their differences in technology and culture. He was extremely funny.
I kept thinking Ron was setting up a joke with that story. What a damn rollercoaster. Hard to believe the one and only Tater Salad hit such a low point.
I love how Ron White is describing how nice the hotel is and mentions that it has a phone and a bed lol
life is a hard teacher, Ron is funny and I enjoy his routines, thank God there are people like him that take the bunch and share his life stories with the rest of us. So we can laugh.
What I've learned from this interview is always bring a bag of popcorn wherever you go.
And leave a trail so you know where you've been.

Ron's comedy, to me, reminds me of this story he just told. The story was a punch in the gut, and that's how his stories feel to me. Gut busters. Takes you on a ride and then bam, take your wind away with a joke. One of the best right there.

My dad used to love listening to Ron White in the 90’s, especially when we were at family gatherings or we were camping. He and my aunts would laugh, and they’d listen to Jeff Foxworthy and Ron White on CD and I remember that from my childhood. Now that I’m an adult, I’ve found MYSELF listening to Ron White all over again, and finding a lot of the things he says are relevant to me. Like this story about failure so many of us can relate to. That’s how you know he’s truly a great speaker, and he’s grown in leaps and bounds.
Also, he’s funny AF. “It’s not THAT the wind is blowing, it’s WHAT the wind is blowing.” Nobody can replicate his style or delivery.
Classic comic. One of the bests in my book. He is genuine & makes me laugh.

Whether it's the stage afraid of bombing or fear of failing. Either it will suck the life out of you or be amazed of what drive can come out of you to do better. The times I remember being flat broke and got myself in money problems and got myself out of the hole was fear of losing the roof over my head and living in my car.

Good story to hear...i Wanted to be acting for years but always been mental basically... That whole time maybe 20 years the biggest show in New Zealand was shortland Street a hospital drama... Last year I got a good agent and last week I get an audition for that show...i Learn the lines back to front... I'm a bit nervous at the audition and forget 1 line... My feedback was "doesn't know how to audition and didn't know lines... Good look for an extra with no lines" .... Can be pretty brutal.... Just lucky I love music as well and I can always play an open mic with nice positive people.... Some of them ha
