- In this video, I am showing you how to replace one of two speed sensors on the transmission of a 2004 Jeep Wrangler. This process is the same for both sensors and should be the same for any TJ with an automatic transmission. There is also a speed sensor located on the back of the transfer case. If you have and questions or advice just comment down below! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video. Simple and straight to the point.
Blessings
Haven't we all been there great videos Thanks for sharing
Don Thornton thanks for watching!
Hey rob- I’ve had 3 jeeps my jeep Cherokee’s would “slip” and loose power - the speedometer would go up but the Jeep didn’t speed up - put a new throttle position sensor and it ran like a new jeep- good luck
Good video. Thanks man
Where did you find the short? I'm having the exact same problem. Thanks
Tyler nunya there was a wire that someone used to install an aftermarket cruise control hooked to the speed sensor. It rubbed against the trans so much the rubber wore off and ground out on the trans
I would say check all of your wiring just be mindful there are three speed sensors in total
Thank you. I think I'm gonna be busy looking for the next couple days!
Tyler nunya that’s half the fun of owning a Jeep! 😂
@@mynameisrob8551 that's what they keep tellin me 🤣
Did it help with the shifting after you found out about that wire?
Well it definitely fixed the problem at hand but the shifting problem I had was due to the torque converter
👍🏼 thanks for the quick reply! Shux i’m still trying to figure out my problem with my jeep. My speedometer does the same thing but now I’m stuck only in second gear
Sky's Daily 808 could be a speed sensor issue but not sure why it would be stuck in a certain gear
It’s called “limp mode”
Sky's Daily 808 yeah jeeps will go into limp mode more times that not if there’s a problem with the trans or TCM. You could try the speed sensors. Fairly cheap for each one but remember there are three total. One is behind the transfer case
The auto repair guy rebuilt my transmission and speedometer stopped working.....Its still in the shop,he's trying to figure out whats wrong with it. Its a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee and I've never had one problem with the speedometer! Of course the cause of a failing one is all around the transmission. Hopefully he's smart enough to fix it. Normally it runs great!! But to be honest I'm not sure the original problem was the transmission...these auto mechanics around my area arent very smart. Before, any problem on it was a simple fix. It pays to know how to fix your own vehicle 👍
Lara Greene it really does. If I don’t know something I always go to RUclips. They have almost everything you need to know. I hope they get your keep figured out. I had my transmission replaced on this one and it was a year long headache.
@@mynameisrob8551 Thanks,I hope so too!! But i HAVE A FEELING i'll be going thru alot of problems with this rebuild also. The actual rebuild was two months ago, now two other problems have come up with the transmission, then the speedometer, due to the mechanic...thats why its back in the shop.!! I dont think it needed rebuilding to start with. I dont think he's found the real problem, yet.
Lara Greene miner told me a lot of times they’ll just replace or rebuild it cause they don’t know anything about fixing it themselves. Transmissions are pretty technical.
@@mynameisrob8551 Yes,I have a strong feeling youre right,he doesnt appear to know much! He seems to be struggling for a solution!
Lara Greene I hope they get it figured out for you!
