My 93 4runner has been shifting late and hard for a while. This morning Speedo went out and CEL came on. Hope a replacement of speed censor clears up all of these issues! Good video, thanks!
Tried replacing both speed sensors, Speedo issue is gone but no help with shifting. Reset ECU and codes are now for shift solenoids #2, #4 and TCC solenoid. Pulled the old ones out. They ohm good but TCC solenoid fails to actuate when power applied. All 4 solenoids are on order should arrive tomorrow or Monday.
@@maine8931solenoids helped greatly with shifting but not 100%. I think the valve body was clogged badly with metal shavings/debris. A bottle of sea foam trans tune helped a bit as well but the hard shifting never fully went away. At operating temp it was always smooth as butter. I was also having what I believed to be torque converter issues where during acceleration the truck would lose power and rev RPM as of the clutch was not engaged. I’ve since sold the truck. Good luck with your work.

I have tried replacing the sensor with a new sensor, but the problem is not resolved because if the engine is running the check engine light comes on and if it goes 10/20 meters the check engine light goes off. but if you stop check the engine starts again. the car feels heavy when driving.. what steps do I need to take? if the cable is safe and not broken.

i know this is an old post. but would you know if a transmission sensor or a wheel sensor would give me a po700 and p0500 on my 08 outback. car drives but slips as soon as you try to pick up speed an never seems to stop slipping. cleared codes and drove car quarter mile same slipping problem but no codes. any idea? just started doing it out of nowhere. i did notice cruse started kicking out for no reason.
It needs to be diagnosed, but the speed sensor may be starting to go bad, or a wire may have a bad connection. If the P0500 code comes back, I would test the speed sensor.
I have a 93 jeep xj the speed sensor needed changing, the gauge needle was bouncing and misreading the speed. however, I had to buy an aftermarket one and the wiring harness was different with no color-coded wires (all black) after hooking the wires in the order that seemed correct, I tested it out, nothing happened the gauge needle didn't move at all. My question is, if I mixed up the wiring, could I have blown a fuse somewhere and also, I unplugged the sensor harness since I don't if the wiring is correct, now my check engine came on could this be due to the speed sensor wiring is disconnected?

Hi. I have a lexus rx 350 2008 model. I had been getting intermittent CEL with a pending code p0717 (turbine shaft input speed sensor No circuit). I took it to a transmission shop. They said it’s issue with sensor and they replaced it. No there is no code or check engine light but car is driving very heavy. Car delays shifting at second gear at low rpm and while making a stop it makes a jerk and clucky sound while its downshifting-to low gears. Can you provide any input regarding this. Thanks

I just purchased a 2013 Nissan Marano sport, utility vehicle. And when you put it in drive, it will not go anywhere. Nor will it let you accelerate when you put it in. Reverse the same thing happens. However, when you put it in park on neutral, you can accelerate and everything works. Could that be a Faulty speed sensor

Just had a p0500 on my 2012 corolla, The speedometer stopped working while driving and abs and power steering shut off. Now the p0500 makes sense, But why did my battery light come on then start flashing then disappear? I cleared the code but i will be doing tests on every single one of these sensors, Hopefully no rats chewed through it. I will be using my autel to read each sensor and also so some simple multimeter readings

Scan for OBDII codes, which will give a speed sensor code if one is bad. If you don't have an OBDII scan tool, automotive stores often come out and scan for free.
I have a flashing D light scanned it and it was pointing towards to solenoid sensor, I replaced it n the car still not shifting from 1st gear. Hopefully if I change the speed sensor my issue will be resolved😢
I changed the speed sensor, didn't stop the speedometer from jumping. changed the dash speedometer, didn't work, had wires to sensor worked on, didn't work. What else could it be?
Not sure if this is relevant or not, but try disconnecting the negative post from the battery and wait a few minutes then reconnect and go for your test drive

That more than likely would be a solenoid issue. Or simply changing your trans fluid and filter if the problem continues go to a professional I promise

My car car doesn't go anywhere past 25 mph and it's limited on speed but I could hear the engine revving trying to make the car go faster. And yes the speedometer is going haywire up and down up and down And it feels like the car is going to just shut off or break down. But after driving 5 mi my car can shift past second gear and I could go 55 mph in the speedometer doesn't go haywire anymore but I can no longer go above 55 mph. I do not think that the speed sensor issue. I'm sorry that has to be a bad transmission. I don't think a speed sensor has anything to do with the car acting like this. I think it's straight up. Just a bad transmission. Also there is no check engine light. There are no codes. There is no ABS light on or No traction control light on. So therefore it's just a bad transmission.
1. Low transmission fluid can cause shift issues. 2. Plugged transmission filter. 3. Burnt transmission fluid. Best to change the transmission fluid and transmission filter. Make sure to also order a transmission pan gasket. If the fluid is black or full of metal shavings it can block the transmission filter. If the filter plugs up then you will get transmission issues. I also recommend some Lucas transmission fix. It will clean the solenoids in the transmission if they are stuck.

Usually, a code is given at some point. It needs to be diagnosed, but, if possible, check the fluid is at the right level and not dirty.

Do you have a scan tool that reads ABS codes. The codes will help to point to the issue.

If it's not the AWD model, might be a good idea to look into the torque converter.

It shouldn't need to be reset. If the sensor is replaced, the code is cleared; if it comes back, there is another issue, likely the wiring.
Would that cause the car to shut off when you put it in drive ? Or reverse ?

It's always best to get an OEM original sensor when possible.
if none of this fixes it , the only other problem could be the Wheel bearing or ECU, correct?
Take it to a mechanic and have it tested with their tool cuz the auto stores don't have the correct equipment

At the very least you would explain how to test the wires /connector with a multimeter . This was click bait
