- This week's 4k POV is bringing us all the way back to 1974 with the Runaway Mine Train!
This Arrow Dynamics classic opened with the park on July 1, 1974, and you will need to hold onto your hats as the train chugs through a series of twisty helixes, curves, and hops, through the untamed foliage of the old west!
Don't be surprised when your train takes a pulse-quickening drop right over the beautiful lake, so close that you can practically see the gold nuggets under the water. If only that train would slow down long enough for you to grab ’em.

Runaway Mine Train POV - 4k 60fps - Official
One of the hidden gems of the park, I always ride it a few times as its got a pretty fast turnover. The part over the water is the best.
ABSOLUTELY i agree
I hate this ride. Way too rough for me lol
@@alecvip7562 yess it was hella rough
@@alecvip7562 I love rough rides. A ride like this without roughness would be boring
Runaway mine train is a classic. I’ve ridden this countless times since I was tall enough! I think it was my first “big” coaster. It’s great that it’s still running after all these years.
This is actually one of my favorite Arrow Mine Trains, that helix with the INSANE laterals and the crazy ejector hill after it are NUTS, it’s definitely a top tier Arrow Mine Train for me for sure
It actually is. Also the way it gets really close to the lake.
I agree with you it’s my favorite mine train
That airtime on the water is super good!
I love you’re profile picture btw. I’m actually asexual too XD
And yeah, it’s crazy!
It’s supposed to be a graceful mine train, but then you throw that shit in there, it’s like, wow
@@triplereeds Thank you! Haha this one is pretty rough but fun
@@chipweather Yeah, I rode it back in May or June, I can’t remember, it was extremely rough.
It rattled around my asexual heart 😂
@@triplereeds Haha 😂
thank you for making the masterpiece with nitro and the vibing cat, really changed my life
You can see el toro running.....I miss those days
Can somebody explain what days this man is referring to?
@@drinkmilk6024 basically El Toro derailed and I’m pretty sure they have to re-track it
i was an operator for this in 97 and 98 and i was also a trainer for it in 98 👍👍
That wooden coaster next to it looks like fun, I hope nothing happens to it!
that’s El Toro, really rough. it derailed though and is closed, won’t open for at least a year
@@avaa7440 hes joking i think
El Toro is one of our signature attractions, and we are working diligently toward reopening the ride this season following testing and a full safety inspection by both internal and external experts.
El Toro derailed and probably won’t open for the rest of the season, I also hope nothing happens either!
Best ride at the park!
El toro is open right now and when I went there it stopped for 10 seconds or so and didn’t work but then they opened back again during the same day
The screaming is ridiculous like it’s not that serious 😂
If I don’t scream I get awful feeling in chest when it drops
Bro, when I went, it was wayyyyy faster than this. By the time we got to the twist, the coaster was already at its max speed. It could be that or maybe it just looks slow on camera
It's called having fun and it doesn't have to be terrifying
This was my first roller coaster and I really like the part where it goes over the water you get some really good air time as well
It's a nice little pop.
Well this is truly a great classic coaster and i have a feeling that Runaway Mine Train here at Six Flags Great Adventure should have a plaque of becoming a national historic landmark from the American Coaster Enthusiasts.
Love this ride! It’s a bit jerky but it was my first ever roller coaster, I will forever love it
It was my very first roller coaster as well, way back in 1987. My grandfather took a then 7 year old me on it and later that same day we rode Rolling Thunder. My deep love of roller coasters was born that day.
I can't believe they got rid of Rolling Thunder but kept this. Not that I am saying they shouldn't keep this (they definitely should), I am just saying they should've also kept Rolling Thunder to.
Rolling Thunder was the best!! They need to build another wooden coaster that is not so fast and intense as El Toro.
@@jeffd.9422 so you would like a roller coaster that’s less fast & intense? Lol sounds like a downgrade to me
Rolling Thunder was great as well and has me just as nostalgic thinking about it being my first "scary" ride, but it's hard to complain too much when you have such a worthy successor as El Toro.
This ride should be a permanent fixture though without a doubt.
that last hill gives rmc level ejector for no reason at all, making the rest of the ride worth it 😂
this is a classic, i love it! its still smooth as ever and i hope it stays in the park until the end ❤
This was my First Six Flags Rollercoaster during my first ever visit to this park on October 4th, 2008.
ride*
That last airtime hill got more airtime than Nitro honestly
They loosened up the brake run, too. There’s a pothole towards the end, which comes unexpectedly and actually adds to the fun.
It’s a classic ~ from 1974! 🎢 Best part was when it’s close to the water. Great memories❗️
six flags great adventure its the bests
For my money, it really has a lot going for it. Tallest and second fastest coaster in the world, a very respectable hyper, one of the best wooden coasters in the world, an above-average floorless B&M looper, an outstanding flying coaster, a pretty fun mine train, amongst others.
Sometimes I wish they would replace the upstop pads on RMT with upstop wheels. It would make the ride a little smoother.
Sometimes, I wish Arrow never went bankrupt.
I like the pads because of the sound it makes on the last airtime hill!
One of the best days of my childhood, coming here in 92 and this being first coaster I ever rode. After this I was obsessed with riding the bigger and bigger rides, but I still had to build up to em as well as grow... I remember being there for Batmans first year and wanted to do it so bad, but I wasn't even 54 inches tall yet, and a nearly 3 hour queue was unimaginable to my 8 year old self. Rolling thunder was next, but I think it wasn't until the Chiller's first year when I returned and finally started doing all the big boy rides.
All that said that 92 visit and riding this the first time is a really special memory for me. I loved the whole frontier adventures section of the park - this, Log Flume, the beautiful log station for this and sky ride, the Whoop de do (?) Musical Revue (I used to have a boot shaped glass mug for from this), and of course the Super Teepee.
Ah nostalgic rambling. Whatever this is a great first coaster for anyone, especially if drops make you nervous like they did for me at first. It's quite gentle on that front.
My first roller coaster ride too ~ in 1974 when it first opened. The line was maybe 1/2 hour long. I can’t imagine a 3 hour long line for any ride, yet I’ve heard that’s how it is now in many amusement parks. That’s just wrong, especially considering the ticket prices.
(CLANK CLANK CLANK CLANK CLANK CLANK CLANK CLANK
CHI CHUNK CHU CHUNK)
“Oh god my neck”
My first rollercoaster🥺🥰
My fave ride growing up
Love this ride!
Rode this many times with my kids, it is a great intermmedian level, for its class is good.
Please never get rid of this classic ride!
OMG EL TORO IS TESTING.
ON GOD?
maybe filmed before derailment?
no way, it’s an old video
@@avaa7440 what year you think?
yep after it derailed
I love how this has more laterals than nitro LMAO
And it has genuine ejector on that last hill. Kind of amazing for what most people see as a family coaster
Me: "oh wow, this is pretty fast for a family coaster.... oh wait, it's on 2x speed"
Ah yes that coaster that's always photobombing Kingda Ka and El Toro, nice to see what it's actually like.
I’ve been on it, it’s really bumpy and I thought I was gonna be on the biggest drops veer when it was going up slowly but then I get flown to the side of the cart (not to me to was in the back like the back back row of the ride) and it was crazy and surprising it’s definitely a good ride I can’t explain it though
RUNAWAY MINE TRAIN!!!!!!!!!!!
Fun fact this is the oldest ride in six flags, it was built in 1974 making it the oldest in the park!!
I remember it well even though it was 48 years ago! My first roller coaster 🎢 ride.
IT'S A RUNAWAY!
my first rollercoaster, also got stuck on it lol. TWICE. came off sobbing while the workers laughed lmao 🤡💀
i love this ride so much but 1:21 is SO painful
(also one time i somehow got water in my mouth. it did not taste good.)
Yesterday was my first time going on a rollar coaster and i went on the runaway train for the first time and lemme tell ya my ass was flying outta the seat and the ride was fast and it had extremely sharp turns and it hurt but its my favorite one
Great coaster for kids. Beats up adults a bit though.
my first high roller coaster
Beautiful layout
This ride is good but its so rough like sharp turns and a very rough lift i hope they make it smoother,
Took my 5 year old son on this ride, head is now inside inside out, one star
sure chizz
This ride was good. Almost hurt myself but yeah
Technically my first roller coaster haha. But never counted it as such
I rode this in 1981 ,when I was 9 yo .
This was ok,but they need to get Vekoma at least to replace the arrow track, cause this ride left me with a headache getting off
0:58 anybody lose a hat?
I remember last time I went to six flags I was watching the ride and I saw a hat get flung into the air
It was funny lol
That last hill has better ejector than El Toro.
Ikr
Kingda Ka next! My favorite ride
This ride was closed when I came to visit 😭
Wait did u go 2 days ago or like months ago bc I went during the holidays and it was closed since it doesnt operate during holiday time
@@userunknown1710 I went 2-3 weeks ago
this is great except for the fact that on certain days they speed it up and it's too much to handle. i feel like i got whiplash & i left w bruises lmao, superman isnt as scary as this when its going faster
This ride is becoming rough after the years of operating 1:12 and 1:20 was the roughest part of the ride
This ride is fast in person
ITS MY 9TH BIRTHDAY TODAY IMA GO ON THAT
It is to rough for me
Do you think this is better than Harley Quinn crazy train
I would say from going on both, they’re both good in they’re own way, but I personally enjoyed this more!
@@UrFavoriteKay I like Harley Quinn more but this is definitely a really good first roller coaster ride
This one is Waaaaaayyy better in all ways. It gives good airtime, goes over water, right new to El toro and Medusa, and got a good layout. Harley Quinn is just a long train that gives no airtime and is like every other kiddie coaster.
@@theepices2525wrd
Harley Quinn just because I felt like it was faster but definitely runaway train it’s longer has more drops bumpy and etc
It’s faster than that trust me
It goes over the last hill way too fast it hurts
...that is kind of the point...
It is an ejector hil, so that it lifts you off your seat real hard
Rare vintage footage of the best ride in the park operating in the back!
This ride is really fun but this problem prevents me from going on it; the tracks are really rough like there is that one part where the cart breaks and that part is roughhh
just post the el toro pov
Patience! Patience!
Where do you see El Toro running?
trust me its much faster
This ride was kinda rough when I went on it
KINDA?
@@henry28422 nah its rough af
Bro my friend was scared she said that she thought she was gonna die 💀
Lol
Bro this is a kiddy coaster/ family coaster LIKE HOW
@@BrawlstarEditor that’s what I was telling her but she afraid of roller coasters whether it’s small or big 😭😭😭😭😭
@@crystal-notfound4845 I ain’t scared of king da ka top thrill dragster, anything
@@crystal-notfound4845nah that’s valid. i don’t like roller coasters whether they’re family friendly or huge 😭
As somebody who went on runaway mine train I can confirm that this ride is not comfortable. The ride is completely rough and makes rough turns. Not only that the ride sounds like it was built with some random tools found in the 1800s. Totally wouldn’t go on this ride. You might wanna leave this ride last or just never go on it at all.
this is the best ride in the park. lol it is janky at some points but i think that this ride is a classic fun family coaster
Lol your crazy I love this coaster! It might be a little rough in some places but its very scenic and there's some surprising airtime at the end.
L take.
Bro chill out its not that big of a deal me personally I loved this ride a lot and if you didn’t know wooden coasters are suppose to be bumpy and rough since there not built on metal like most rides plus I think your just over exaggerating or being too dramatic lol either way this ride is insanely good
I go to Great Adventures more than 10x a year and I have never been on this ride.
Same tbh
Nitro: Bro I am taller faster and just better what do you have
runaway: laterals
Nitro: *wasted*
That ride is soooooo short can you add another track
I don’t think that’s how it works they’re gonna have to rebuild the entire thing if they’re gonna do that plus I’m pretty sure their space is limited and funds too..
Easily the worst ride. Holy shit it's so rough (that's what she said)
agreed, although the kids don't seem to care lol
I rode that
Same I like snapped my neck on it
@@aubanaba9805 wow
The last part hurt
One question: El Toro is my favorite ride of all time. Do you know when it will reopen?
It will prob reopen after like a year. I heard they were going to retrack it.
2022
yeah they are going to retrack it, they also have to fix the wheel on the one cart. gonna be very expensive. they get the wood/steel, which is kind of hard to get and prices are going up, then they have tests, inspections, then they can open it. probably will take 1-2 years at most
@@avaa7440 Yeah. Intamin is expensive plus the fact the new parts have to ship from Switzerland
2022 unfortunately
me after going on it : bro i loved it me before: i need robux for me to go on
