    You don't get a benefit of opponents playing rats, what are you on about? The card clearly says "another rat YOU control".

      A misread of the card. Apologies. Pinning to point out the error. Thanks for helping see that.

    Hatred is a staple. Ive cheesed out so many wins against my friends. There also multiple rats you can add that make it hard for opponent to block. Amazing video

      Hatred is a great include. I just try not recommending too many reserved list cards due to availability for some players. But if I had one or the ability to get one, it's a great card for the deck.

      @twilightscallmtg ah see I don't even own magic cards. I just play tabletop simulator with my buddies. So we have access to every card. I will be ordering cards soon tho!

    Great video! I was so excited to finally build a rat deck when Wick got spoiled. Using changelings like Bloodline Pretender and Tauren Mauler also go real hard in the deck to make big "snails" to throw at people

    • @twilightscallmtg
      @twilightscallmtg  4 месяца назад +1

      Ironically, I found a copy of Taurean Mauler in a pile I was digging through last night. The older changelings will be great to fill in holes for the underrepresented creature type synergies.

    This is fun!! I've also added things like Maskwood Nexus so that everything can also be considered a snail - this way those counters can go across to rats as well!

    Yo! Nice tech! You gave me a few ideas of some cards to jam into my Wick deck so I thank ya! A couple of cards/strats to mention though since I haven't heard too many people talk about this with wick: Your etbs with rats and the snail can be really taken advantage of with tremors/purphoros' and a sac outlet like ashnods altar. If you sac the snail in between the etbs of numerous rats coming in this can essentially double, if not triple the damage of the snail. Casting Rite of Replication kicked targeting Wick will also put 30 counters on a snail. (or 30 triggers with Impact tremors if you have a sac outlet.) Also, yes Wick is the one who does damage, so you could go light on cards like Fiery Emancipation and use cards like Phyresis and go infect out of nowhere... lol. Lastly, Taurean Mauler and Bloodline pretender make excellent additional snails for Wick to blow up, especially since you just play them, forget about them, and sooner or later they'll be big enough to blow up too!

    • @twilightscallmtg
      @twilightscallmtg  4 месяца назад

      All good suggestions. If I'm going to surprise infect, I'd go Tainted Strike. That will cut down on build up time as well. I like that as nice one off strat.
      And yeah, I forgot Mauler during my research and then found a copy in a box a couple days after I did the video. It's a good one too.

      Glad you enjoyed the video. I liked Wick because it doesn't ask you to spam Rat Colony and use that to overwhelm and win the game like most Rat decks tend to do. Instead you're tasked with charging up what is essentially an explosive snail, which is just fun to me.

    For the lifegain, whip of erebos a bit easier, as doesnt require the equip, and works on all creatures, along with grave recursion side bonus

      That's another good way to go about it, especially if you don't own a Shadowspear, which is on the pricier side of things. Lots of ways to get the desired effect. Thanks for the recommendation for the deck.

    Have you considered Piper of the Swarm from Throne of Eldraine? or do you deem that giving your rats menace isnt worth it? 1 and B to tap and get a rat token is kinda steep. And sac'ing 3 rats for 2 and BB to yoink opponents best creature, seems cool in theory , but very situ.n Cool vid 👍

    • @twilightscallmtg
      @twilightscallmtg  4 месяца назад +1

      Glad you liked it. I had considered Piper, but decided against it as I've tried it in the past for other rat decks and it's super slow in creating tokens and it draws a boat load of hate before I could use it to steal anything. Probably because of the theft part.

    Personally I love Wick way more then Marrow-Gnawer. I’m building him as a Thrumming Stone and Rat Colony. Turn those rats into Snails (maskwood, arcane adaptation) and fling damage and draw.

    • @twilightscallmtg
      @twilightscallmtg  4 месяца назад

      Now that's a use of Rat Colony I can get behind. Marrow-Gnawer just seems blah to me.

      @@twilightscallmtg Same feeling here. Is Marrow-Gnawer good yes he is really good, but just doesn’t pack the Wow factor I would like. But Wick is a rat I can stand behind.

    1st viewer! I’ve been obsessed with building this commander since I love capybaras and grixis. Too bad there’s not too much support for rats but I’m still optimistic about entertainment value.

    • @twilightscallmtg
      @twilightscallmtg  4 месяца назад +1

      Thanks for tuning in. I think the thing with Rats has always been centered around Rat Colony being the bulk of the design space, but there's still a decent amount of non-Colony rats available, especially now that we gain access to blue for the deck. This will be a Commander that will get better over time as more rats (or rat supporting cards) get printed into the game.

    I think you are planung out your tech in the wrong direction. Why try to prolifirate single +1/+1 on a snail. Its much easier to pick things like cranial plating and other high damage equips for your snail that scale wirh things you do anyway, like sword of the squek(i think its written differently, i mean the new sword out of the squirrel precon) because you can always reequip equiptments to a new snail and dont have to proliferate with x dozen spells again.
    Another cool possibility here is to add the snail type to other creatures with enchantments from blue and black, so you can use wicks ability more often and gain more value in combination with the equipments. Another cool tech is to give wick lifelink, because he deals the damage. And i guess you can need it if you are seen as arch enemy at your table, if you spread big nukes to all of them. Or utilize you gained life for black things like boosting damage of the snails with the card "hatred" for example. Or effect that damage all players including you. Because thise effects tend to be cheaper to cast and if you are save because of your lifetotal its a goid way to close the game in your favor. And i would advice not to run nezumi graverobber, because you want to play the other 2 rats that exile you opponents creatures to make rats, the you have only your graveyard to pick from and bringing back low cmc rats for 5 mana is kind of a nonbo.
    Liked the way you made the video, keep on! +++

      Sword of the Squeak wasn't revealed when I did the recording, but I would include it for sure (a hazard of starting brews prior to final previews). The issue I have with most equipment, is the ones that do solid boosting for this, cost a lot to either cast or to equip, slowing you down from casting other stuff or even using Wick's ability right away if needed.
      Creature type-shifting enchants can do well but I was kind of not wanting to use them here because I've used them A LOT for my Assassin's Creed content as of late, but that can work as well, but I would want to have more ways of spreading counters around in the deck.
      At the end of the video, I do recommend a couple equips to give Wick lifelink to get back bursts of life, and someone recommended Whip of Erebos which is good as well.
      Hatred is a good recommendation if you can find a copy that's reasonably priced. I try not to recommend Reserved List pieces unless I'm showing some of my personal decks where I own the card and can include the card, since some of them are astronomically priced.

    Why are you running a proliferate package when you could be running equipments or pump spells to make that snail chonky before flinging it at all 3 opponents?

    • @twilightscallmtg
      @twilightscallmtg  2 месяца назад

      It's just one of many ways you could build this Commander. Equipment can work, one-shot boost spells could as well. One of the best things about Wick is there is several ways to build around it and it will still powerup big snails to fling around.
