Anyone who sneers at big scoots hasn't tried one. I don't miss my Blackbird and Street Triple when I ride my ADV 350. I ride this way more often than I rode my "proper" bikes. It just fits into my lifestyle so well. Boring commutes and shopping trips can now put a smile on my face, that's the whole point of riding.

Dude, I have no shame in saying my wife's ADV160 is so much fun. It's so light and flickable, it carves corners up and is just comfortable and practical. And the gas mileage is just nuts. I wish the ADV350 would come to the US, I'd get one quick.

I got rid of my 200bhp ZZR 1400 and now have the ADV350 ! Absolutely fantastic, so easy to ride and on local trips faster than the 1400 as always in the right gear ready to fly away from the lights zipping through the traffic. Loads of under seat storage and cheap to run. Also it's Happy enough on the motorway and keeps up with the bigger boys on the lanes. What more could you want!

I've been riding bikes for 46 years, owned 22 bikes all up now! 😳👴 Got a Scooter (XMax 300) two years ago, just to pop to gym get around town shop. I LOVE the thing, a wish I'd known how much fun and how practice they where years ago. Still have a big Yamaha Super Tenere, but am planning to down size that to a Triumph tiger 800 sport when they come out (54kg lighter), but as the scoot is so much fun am also contemplating getting rid of both bike's and having a TMax 560. I'm 6'3" Xmax is a little on the small side. How do you find the TMax as a 6+ footer? 😃

I'm doing 18,000km per year commuting on a maxi scooter and I love every minute of it. I could have "upgraded" to a proper bike so many times, but my scooter ticks every box. Just like in your vid, I'm filtering traffic a lot and the twist and go makes life so easy. And let's not even talk about storage, not having to attempt putting a bag on my back every morning and evening while wearing a leather motorcycle jacket is a major positive.

  • @ozzyg82
    @ozzyg82 Месяц назад +8

I had the XMAX 300 for a number of years recently and it was quite remarkable - 100mpg meant I got about 240-250 miles to one tiny, 13ltr tank. It would happily sit at motorway speeds. More under seat storage than even this T-MAX, you cold fit two full-faced helmets. I had the fleece-lined apron and heated grips and it was super warm and dry even in storms and freezing cold. Bike had LED lights all round, ABS, traction control. A lockable glove box with 12v charger. And the little coxis back rest makes a surprising amount of difference when it comes to comfort, (even though the bike was the most comfortable two wheeled machine I’d ever sat on). Larger wheels meant it soaked up the bumps and handled very much like a regular motorbike. Only fly in the ointment was it lacked excitement and engagement - not much power, (having said that, the smoother, relaxed riding experience is weirdly zen). One day, when I’m an old kodger, I’ll get myself another maxi scooter for sure - just not now - I want a bit of fun first.

As a car replacement they make a lot of sense, and it's preferable to a 50cc. But my alternative to owning a car is a regular old bicycle! Commuting, grocery shopping, the whole thing. No money spent on fuel, practically no maintenance, and I'm getting exercise by riding it.

I don't commute on the bicycle, for that I take the motorcycle. But all the supermarkets are too close to allow the engine to warm up, so bicycle with a milk crate is my grocery getter; I've toyed with the idea of a scooter, but I'd be afraid of using it because the engine would never warm up properly for such short trips.

My wife has had a Vespa GT60 250 for eighteen years and 60K miles. Since she's also a sportbike rider over time we've done lots of suspension, wheel/tire and brake upgrades which have turned it into a sleeper on a twisty road. My learning has been to keep as much weight over the rear wheel as possible and just point the nose where I want to go in a partial wheelie position while using the rear brake to flop from side to side. Took a minute to adjust to the front feeling like it's about to go full-on tank slapper mode, but I haven't highsided it, yet.

Here in South Korea, there are bucket loads of bikes but also scooters. They are everywhere, especially for delivery these days. I, myself, have been a life-long bike guy. Currently I have three: a 2015 Yamaha MT-09 Tracer, an older 125cc scooter, and a 2023 N-max 155 scooter. I get it! I don't have a car either. All year round on scooter. It's so fun and easy. More people need to try it. I also have the hand warmers with the heated grips, which is a game-changer for colder rides. Congratulations on the purchase! Enjoy!

Fantastic video Michael ! Also great to read the comments below and see that so many others "get" the TMax and other big scoots. Pity all the bike magazines ignore scoots every month and never a mention of the TMax, X-ADV, Forza 750 etc. Having had 4 TMax's I agree 100% ... they are just so right and have a bit of magic that other two wheelers dont, and where my motorbikes tend to be kept wrapped up in the garage, a big scoot is always at the back door ready to be wheeled out for daily use .... thanks for a great review ! G'day from down under, Neevesy.
I was rapt to see this video! Firstly because your previous review of the Tmax was a big influence in my decision to buy one. Also, I bought one exactly the same as you have. Bought it from the original owner, with 3000km on it, still with 12 months factory warranty.
For years I have thought that I would love to have a big scooter with cruise control. I saw one of these in the showroom, back in 2022, but when I saw the price tag of over $21,000 AUS, I just thought 'no way' and forgot about it. Then, about 6 months ago, I saw one for sale, near me. I picked it up for 15k! 😁.
The last few bikes I've owned, I've ended up selling, mainly because I didn't ride them enough, but I'm pretty sure this one is going to be different. I can ride this thing for 3 or 4 hours via freeway to twisties and back, or even through city traffic, and still not want to stop when I get home. Also what you said about memories of riding scooters on holidays, really resonated with me. Riding the Tmax often reminds me of the fun times I've had (and hopefully will have more of) in places like Bali, Thailand and Vietnam.
Love your reviews mate, keep up the good work, and can't wait to see more on the Tmax.

Awesome video Neevsey. I am an every day rider too (50 mile round trip commuter), I know the TMAX is ideally suited to this kind of use,but even at almost 65 years old, making the move from a bike to a MAXI scooter is a big step. I do fear the maintenance intervals and associated cost but I admire your courage in this matter. I am totally convinced; and your video (watched it at least 10 times) says all the right things. I understand your attitude to the TMax 100%. I now have the 4th TMax - the current model as TechMax with an Akrapovic exhaust. I've had a total of 62 motorcycles in my life most notably Ducati and MV Agusta (currently a Brutale 800). And yes motorcycles are more dynamic, faster and more exciting. But a TMax is simply so much more. It is technically more motorcycle than scooter. But you can simply do anything with a TMax. For example I rode from Berlin to Verona - that's 1,200km in one go. Just fill up with gas and you're good to go. I've always had the most fun on 2 wheels with a TMax. For me it's the Swiss army knife of bikes with a gentlemen's touch. Some people think it's too expensive. But their attitude to the TMax is not correct. You get two bikes for the price of one and a half. I wish you always happy riding - no matter what.

Fast enough, great handling, it'll tour, traffic bust, blast up M-ways, wallop round back lanes.....almost everything. While it doesn’t match the performance of my previous bike, I really love the way it rides. Most of the summer months, I use it to on a regular base commute to work. Every year, my brothers and I go on a week-long motorbike trip, and it’s an absolute joy. I can imagine that the Yamaha would be just as great.
    cheers

Fabulous machines.Took mine to the Vercors a couple of years back .
As mentioned such big scoots are all the rage in Europe but will never catch on in Britain where most bikers seem to have a weird insecurity and put vanity before sanity .

I enjoy your bike talks and videos but really loved this one. It's a shame many UK bikers look down on scooters. This Summer I rode an ADV 350 across Europe, from Mid-Wales, to the south of Turkey and back. Was pretty much effortless, faultless, comfortable and just downright enjoyable.

Ive cmhsd standard big and smaller bikes, enjoy Continent touring and am a daily, sll year round England rider. The scooter bug got me in its grip about 2022. Kept reading n watching reviews. Finally got a Honda ADV
2024. fantastic bit of kit, h/grips, top box, throw over luggage bags, took it to Spain in October 2024, flawless, even a bit of offroad fun in the Pyrenees!.
Now im scooter hooked, i keep looking, at this Tmax. Who knows, might take the plunge, it definitely ticks alot of boxes.

Neevesy I almost hesitate to give out this secret because you’d have to sell your TMax immediately: it’s the Forza 750! You get the same practicality of twist-and-go with the auto DCT gearbox yet it’s way more fun especially with a proper 17in wheel (and bigger brakes) in the front. Sounds better, looks more unique, it’s more capable, and here’s the kicker: It’s cheaper 😂

How a bike makes you feel is the most important thing. Would love to see a couple of scooters on a tour, going over the Stelvio or GrossGlockner etc. All those people saying you need this, that or the other. A maxi scooter would be perfect with a bit of luggage, comfort and fuel economy etc.
There’s the Spring trip sorted 👍😎

Leaving another comment after I just now finished the end of the video. Please feel free to post as much scooter content as you want! The only people who dog on scooters are people who haven’t ridden them, it is such a blast. Got my 150cc piaggio fly for $500 and I’ve gotten 6k miles on it since last year. I don’t know if there is any, but I wonder what a Variator upgrade would be like on your t max. I’ve never looked into them before but you’ve sold me. Also, the alpinestars lid in your livery looks incredible. Thanks for spreading the good word about scooters!

About 2 years ago, I went to all morotcycles by getting rid of my car (I used to be a car guy until I started riding motorcycles about 7 years ago). Tmax560 Techmax has been in my eye sight whenever I was replacing my bikes or adding new bikes over the years. Currently, I own MT10SP, Tracer 9 GT+, Tenere700 and Honda PCX160 scooter (currently, I am awaiting the delivery of new Street Triple 765 R, albeit a 2023 model year).
They are still new as they are still less than 1 year of ownership. Eventually, I am interested in adding Tmax560 Techmax in my garage (I can add one more in my garage, even after welcoming new addition of Street Triple 765 R). For the local errands, I always ride my Honda scooter as it is like sneaker to me. If I get Tmax, I am guessing I would be riding it as often as my Honda scooter.
When I want to enjoy the full blown motorcycle ride or trip, I will pick one of 3 Yamahas (and a Speed Triple). Always good to have multiple options, even though that is considered somewhat luxary to most of the regular folks.

Great choice!!! A few years ago I had a Honda 600cc SilverWing which was a bit bigger than the Tmax and here in Australia several hundred dollars cheaper. Best of all it had an enormous under seat "boot"; I used a soft travel bag and could tour NSW and Victoria for a week (not camping - I don't camp) with ease. I loved it. Tmax would have been more sporty!

Your love for the TMAX mirrors mine for my 2014 NC750X DCT.
Together we have done 65k miles and it has gotten me in more trouble with the law than my gen2 busa 😂.
It's my go to bike for almost every kind of riding, even doing a lap of the nurburgring and taking my wife and I on our honeymoon to the Czech republic.
It's just so easy to ride. The DCT makes it so much more user friendly (and more interesting) than any manual bike.
Mine has steadily grown to have Nitron Suspension and is an absolute weapon down country lanes, it's almost cheating.
That an 80 plus mpg, and the frunk that takes a full face 😊
God I love that bike. Sat on the 2025 version at the NEC and fear it may finally be upgrade enough for me to switch. I'll always have an NC in my shed until the day I hang up my leathers.

Down to earth and no ego or pretences 👍 I rode a scooter in Thailand once on a holiday for the 1st time. Loved it.
