anyone who has ever owned a 50cc 2 stroke bike knows that of course you can get them to do 60, 70, even 80mph with certain parts and tuning. but yes, to a newbie one may not realize that 50cc bikes are heavily restricted but much more capable.

    Some advice for you.
The standard throttle won’t open the 28mm carb slide all the way, you need a quick action throttle.
Also an electric water pump is another good upgrade.
And the jets that the 28mm carb comes with won’t be big enough to run the set up sufficiently. I had to go up many sizes in main jet and pilot jet on my 21hp MHR set up.

exhaust wise i'm not exacly sure wich one this is, but there is also room for improvement.

2 stroke scooter tuning was my life 10+ years ago. The last engine I built was a Malossi MHR team 2 77cc piaggio engine that was used in a aprilia sr50 frame. The big bore kit was so big it wasent a direct bolt on, I had to carve open the crank cases with a dremel, and flow/port match to get the kit fitted.
That was running a 21mm carb, malossi MHR team exhaust, K1 inner rotor ignition system, Malossi MHR team variator, stage 6 R/T clutch & bell with a malossi over size drive belt. About 2k in parts and most of said parts were second hand off my pals race zip sp that he used in competition in the BSSO racing scene.

    Great little project.
My first bike was a Yamaha DT50MX which I tuned over the course of my ownership. Removed the restrictor ring from the neck of the exhaust , changed the tail pipe ( didn't improve performance , but sounded good ) , filed the exhaust port (lucky guess as there was very little info 40years ago) , larger main jet , changed the reed petals and opened up the stop ( although the best ones I made out of a coke can , but they didn't last very long ) ,
upped the size of the front sprocket , I think the air filer was left standard (don't remember now) although chances are it was changed for a K&N cone filter as they were all the rage back then. Anyway long story short , it would hit 50 - 55 mph on the flat. Great days 😁

You mentioned before that you were open to advice on how to improve.
Typically, if sealant is required, it should be applied to one case only. Applying to both sides is OTT.
More importantly, when assembling engines, all the moving parts in contact with anything else need lube.
4T use assembly lube or a mix of 50:50 Moly Grease and Engine oil.
2T probably use undiluted 2T oil (check the manual).
You want to coat the pistons, wrist pin, big end, crank journals, cam journals & lobes (4T) etc.

    • @oodiddy9778
      @oodiddy9778 2 месяца назад +1

first of all use quality fully synth oil 40/1 to start and when your jetting the carb start with a large main jet then work your way down in size start with a 102 as the sponge filter is like having no air filter on and especcialy with a huge carb . if you dont do it that way you will run it to lean and burn it up .with a 21mlm delorto you shout be just righ with a 72 to 74 main jet and 6.5 to 7 gram rollers that. and dont forget yasuni have 2 restrictors that need to be removed .and when tuning adjust one thing at a time .and i find malossi more robust that stage 6.

I had 3 DTR 125’s in my time, plenty of tuning and modifications as well as helping friends out with their 2 stroke machines. The guy that taught me everything i know about motor bikes told me to not use the expensive fuel in a 2 stroke I can’t remember if he gave me an explanation but i always took his advice seriously and never used the shell ultimate (i think that was what it was called back then). Couple of things that we did to tune 2 strokes. Pin the power valve open if you don’t have one you can file the top of the exhaust port but its a very delicate and precise thing and easy to ruin the cylinder. Remove the governor/restrictors from the exhaust port and the down pipe if present, move the carb needle to the highest position ( they usually had rings cut into the top and held in place by a circlip or pin moving the pin/clip to lowest cut would let more fuel into the carb) you can also get needles with different geometry or just file the original (again only if you know what you’re doing with the filing) to get even more fuel into per cycle, swap out air filter and exhaust for performance ones, replace chain and sprockets for different ratios, if you have liquid cooling its quite easy to swap in a bigger radiator or in some cases you can add an extra one. Didn’t ever do a bore increase though. they were fun times DT-R’s getting to 80mph in a few seconds aprilia RS 125’s going 100 mph at 14k revs all with L plates on 😂 yes officer totally standard 😂 it only goes 60 mph 70 if its down hill😂 one of my mates had an RS 250 and got disqualified from a track race for “illegal levels of tuning” 😂 didn’t think that could be a thing, it was faster of the line than a ZXR 400 just couldn’t match it top end those were the days. Its all 4 strokes these days not a lot you can do to those

This was me and my boys in the late naughties! Gilera’s and Yamaha’s. Slap on a ZX exhaust and a clutch kit. Go find a straight leading to a steep hill feet over rear pegs Tucked in tryin’ to break 80mph. ‘Boys boys I hit 90mph swear down I swear down’ it was rare to see a 70s kit. Only a handful of lads did it. Ahhh fond memories 🥹

Oi i wanna talk to you about a few things here as a guy who build loads of these machines!
1: The crankshaft bearings, you are way better off by mounting the bearings on the crankshaft first, then heating the castcase up and pushing the crankshaft in with hand. Hitting on the bearings or forcing the engine case together is a strain on the bearings, just a headsup. (You might be fine here but wont show up untill 5-10 ride hours and they start getting noisy)
2: Make sure the tolerance for the crankshaft sealing are within spec, if those seals hit the main crank bearing in anyways it will make the bearing go bad in just a few Kilometers (Just a heads up since i cant see the tolerance in the video
3: You have to check the "squish" beetween the piston and the cylinder top once assembled, do this by taking a piece of solder wire, put it down the Sparkplug hole and all the way to the side. rotate the engine, pull the solder wire out and measure what size the flat piece of the solder wire is, the tolerance is in the manual of the cylinder (Stage6 cylinder typically have a tolerance beetween 0.50-0.70mm. (Edit, fuck me, just saw the latest video, good on you lad! :D)
4: You should really consider changing the ignition to an R-Setup ignition or some sort of second hand ignition with a much lighter flywheel/ignition bell. The stock one is WAAAAY to heavy for 12000+ rpms and will snap the crankshaft in half. (Seen that multiple times)
Last but not least, i really hope you do this again sometime and give the malossi crankcase with a Testarossa cylinder and a innerrotor ignition a go, it will probably spit out 10+ horsepowers more than the build in the video.
Else huge Kados for taking on the moped engine challenge, more people should do that! :D
Also good on you for replacing the engine mount!!! most people build a U shaped engine mount so the intake manifold can be faced backwards like on piaggio/hiper engines, it gives a more steady gasflow. It doesnt take long to make, and saves alot of carb rekitting, so that was a really good choice!

i have the same cylinder kit im currently pushing it to its max you should measure squish, ring gap before doing anything with it also would recommend a iner rotor ignition its a must for that kit if u want max performance out of it... without the right squish it wont even run 50% of what it should be running

These are cool bikes, and a lot of fun to ride. I've built a few. And I'm sure there are at least a few 94cc ones about.
You have to kill the cases though to fit the crank.
A word of warning. If you have fitted the full over range transmission. You will need the belt up if you haven't sanded down some of the ribs in the CVT case.
    Great build.

Awesome project idea! Look forward to whats to come.
Just a friendly tip as I think another comment mentioned, go easy on the crankcase sealant, apply a thin layer to one side only. Too much runs risk of blobs of sealant getting where they shouldnt.
Also lubricate the piston/bore before installing to prevent wear on start up. (If you didnt already as may be edited out?)
    😊👍

I see a bit of an issue where the rear tyre will be slinging water and all sorts of gunk (leaf mulch mainly) on the air filiter. If you think a tyre can't drag stuff that far around, I invite you to inspect the center bottom of the frame on my commuter push bike. I regularly scrape the worst off and it still looks like it does.

Glad to see that you used the gaskets *without* sealant - no need for sealant on gaskets on decent mating faces! But a small criticism - far too much sealant on that metal to metal crankcase join! Remember that when closed, there will be no 'gap' as such, so the sealant is only there to give microsealing of the surface finish. Better to smear a VERY thin layer with a finger, then 'dab' it so that has tiny peaks (a bit like Artex). When bolted down there should be only a very small amount squeezed out - because however much gets squeezed outwards, the same amount will be squeezed inwards - into the engine!!
Looking forward to hearing it run properly!

I had one in the Netherlands 🇳🇱, it did 100km or 60mph on car dash following me, it was all stock they op af😂(only restrictions removed, stock block stock exhaust) also had a neos, and used a aerox engine with it(they the same but Neos is air cold and had drum brakes), so naturally I made it air cooled again, but now I had a disc break, great stuff, it was fully built mhr malossi, then I bought a yamaha tzr 50, it 80cc and loads of fun, went reliable so cast iron top performance 80cc(with booster ports), upgraded crank and carbon clutch kit(if you didn't know for those who didn't it's a manual moped that's like a sports bike look), I also have a 4 stroke piaggio zip, but I liked yamaha more😅, I don't have the aerox anymore, and the neos was confiscated by police while I was selling it to a friend (it was "hot" though, I had driven it on the street a lot, it was all black on black with a sports handlebar setup, it was stupid fast, because the a neos is light af, it wheelied by it self on pure power, and out ran the cops a couple of times there for "hot"), anyway mopeds are loads of fun especially when tuning them, be careful, because they are genuinely fast, perhaps not really in top end but 2 stroke be 2 stroke, its just different 🤷🏽‍♂️🙌🏽. Hope you learn porting and stuff, u can do a lot, without buying parts, I've personally upgraded a stock block before (minarelli horizontal), 50cc stock setup, but ported basically, huge difference, especially since usually (atleast here in the Netherlands) the exhaust port had been filled up, u can open this up with porting.
