  • Ōhinemutu Village was settled by the Ngāti Whakaue iwi (tribe), a sub-tribe of the Te Arawa waka (canoe) journeyed from the Pacific homeland of Hawaiiki to New Zealand around 1350 AD. The explorers chose this location for their home due to its setting along the shores of Lake Rotorua and the abundant geothermal energy which was useful for cooking, bathing and heating.

Julia, this was incredible to see live. What a great honor you were given to walk through their town, home areas, worship centers and churches, burial plots, honoring all their people they have lost and all this among the steam and water vents that they have learned to live with. I never thought I would see something like this in my lifetime. What a privilege! PS I was a geologist by training so steam vents, mud pots, water sprouts, etc., even earthquakes are right up my alley. Thank you Julia and Jason. 🇳🇿 ♥️ ☘️

hello Julia and Jason , looks like a great location to visit , but now get some jokes out of the way - just think in winter you would not have to worry about moving about as no ice to slip on lol - best way to heat ones house floor radiated heat lol - talk about walking on hot ground lol - just dig a hole and have a Pig roast lol ,, now just think of all the generations that tried and succeeded to tame the elements around them with what has been accomplished for the betterment of being , we will always be adapting to our surroundings as things are constantly changing day to day and we still make the best we can with abilities passed down thru teachings of the ways of the land , OK fast ear on the main poppers ,,, 3:16 super close guys on the catch ( our friend ) as i hear it and replay many times with a deep ear i hear it as ( come friend ) as like to welcome you there ,, 5:43 trying to sound like rustling cloths is a hiss voice saying ( your surrounded ) as to the statues set as guards ,, 5:44 the second part to me sounds like ( passion in life ) or ( compassion in life ) ,, 6:11 still the same hiss voice is now saying ( Praying ) as to the center figure ,, 6:23 now i hear what sounds like ( we Praise you ) as like with ( blessings ) to enter ,, 6:27 now i am hearing in the same scratchy hiss voice ( people - we live by the sea ) as if the seas was the way of life and not so much the land ,, 6:38 ( the Lizard ) still in the same voice and does seem as if that will be the main focus of voice if and when heard - could even call it snake hiss like voice ? but in total reality its the jacket being worn with the rustle hiss and that does help in possible answer to things as prior posted ) ,, about 11:05 or so now that is fitting with the wind and the wires - ropes clanging on the pole as if a tribal drumbeat of sorts as you went in for the closeup ,, 12:19 as you look at this statue it does sound like a voice saying ( fear not ) ,, several times the volume has gone into a strange mode is if alot of power is close by even from the Volcanic activity that is there and for me yes it does help in other possibilities of answers or words to be heard ,, beautiful place and very glad you had Permission to film it - its a saved part of history that might have been lost for lack of promotion ,, thank you for the video and have a wonderful day keep safe

@@cemeteriesdownunder9247 there was more but it all was being with respect and the knowledge you learned from research of the area and the people , talent ? more like a gift and a curse , like many seeing things in odd places where the most common will not , mine is the hearing end of things and try to hear them in different styles as to the possible ( voice ) , if it makes sound then it makes sound waves so therefore is possible to carry a voice , good rules i follow is close eyes and listen to the surroundings and hear what you see and not see what you hear , pondering will always be on the mind for each instance as it happens ever down the road with reflection of actions , as i believe in a calm manor getting better results ! not rile em up and make horrible things take place , most often i hear some personal things from others videos and its a chill factor , as if the spirits know i am trying to help say their words , many others are good as well that i have seen over the years posting as i do when viewing , keep well and safe Julia and Jason
