I think the simpler answer is that Te Fiti just mirrored the face of the person who brought back her heart. She's a nature goddess, I'd assume she can look like whatever she wants to look like since nature doesn't actually have a face
Yeah, because Moana looked exactly like her mother. And going by this theory, the Tafiti bloodline would have been through her father, because of her grandmother dancing with the rays...
Anyone who has the heart of Te Fiti doesn't die. That would be why Grandma was doing fine until she gave it over to Moana who stayed alive while she held onto it.
Changing Te'ka required an act of kindness. The Ocean chose Moana because she was kind (she tried to save the turtle) and had the heart of a voyager. I like this better than Moana being a Chosen One by virtue of birth or peril versus who she was and what she chose to do.
She was chosen by the ocean for her heart and courage. As a toddler she fended off predators to help a turtle hatchling get to the ocean. The ocean saw this and realized, "This is the one. This is the one with a heart to change hearts. So to her I'll give the heart, for the sake of all hearts."
I agree that Moana may have spent much of the movie in a state between life and death, but not quite crossing over. When Tafiti's heart was restored, she may have taken on the appearance of the girl who brought her back since that girl was now an important part of her. The tapestry we saw at the beginning of the movie had been made by Moana's family and they may have been using their grandmothers as a model for someone they never actually saw.
Awesome way to look at it. Many blessings upon, blessings upon, blessings over you and yours, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen and Amen and Amen and Amen.
This is the best theory. Also Tefiti may have always looked that way and Moana looks like her instead of the other way around. Tefiti is the mother island, she created all of the islands, she loves and nurtures them. Moana is very much like her. She loves her island, her people, the animals, the sea, so she came out looking like Tefiti because she is very much like her in spirit.
Alright my favorite theory is one I’ve kinda come up with myself. So basically Maui was abandoned by his family and cast into the sea right, so from that experience he gained abandonment issues and once he gained his Demi god status and began helping humans he did everything in his power to make them happy so that they wouldn’t leave him too. Though after stealing the heart and being cast onto an island all by himself he kinda changed. Both of those personalities (if you can call them that) weren’t all that good. He was so broken he bender over backwards for the humans and when he realized the humans wouldn’t and couldn’t help him when he needed it, he turned into a selfish guy for the most part. Now the ocean chose moana for a special mission: return the heart. It chose her after seeing the amount of kindness she extended to a baby turtle all while being a baby herself the ocean knew only she could complete the task. All thought she had to return the heart of life was to continue to exist that wasn’t all her mission was. She was sent out to help Maui right his wrong and change for the better, to realize his worth and that he didn’t need to do anything all that special for anybody. Pretty much teaching children that they didn’t have to go to the ends of the earth for someone if they couldn’t do the same while also teaching them that true friends help each other when they need it, both ways. That’s pretty much what I took from the movie.
The reason the Ocean couldn't restore Tafiti's heart was because she was lashing out at everyone and everything that approached her. The one who restored her heart first had to bring her back from madness. Moana was able to do that because of the journey she had gone on, not because of her DNA.
I think there's a story from Polynesian mythology where one of their goddesses returns to humanity every once and awhile and has children in order to strengthen us. I can't remember the name of goddess or story, I'll have to look it up.
I don’t think Moana did die, I think Te Fiti just looked like the person who saved her. I also think that her ‘superhuman abilities’ such as not dying in the storm and holding her breath underwater for so long isn’t demigod powers, it’s just Disney logic. I mean, isn’t any Disney character like that?
Now hear me out. As a Hawaiin I'm just gonna say we all have very similar features to one another....you may be drastically off. On top of that each family was given an animal. 9:52 Anyone else think Moana looks GREAT in her final outfit? Maybe the ocean chose Moana because she looked like Tafiti originally did so that seeing Moana would help the goddess remember who she once was. After all, in the movie Tafiti stops and stares at Moana once Moana starts talking to her demonic lava form. Also, I have never really considered how impossible some of the things she did in the movie were (like being underwater without coming up to breathe for so long). These theories are interesting. I kind of like them but they are pretty dark.
I thought this. Moana looks almost exactly like her mother too, she even resembles her grandmother. Now she does look exactly like Tefiti, identical to her, but it would make sense for the ocean to choose her if she resembles Tefiti and she has the spirit and love for her island, her people and the sea. Her spirit and character are also why she was chosen. She wasn't afraid of the sea.
many cultures have legends of Maui, they chose a mix of sources to represent ALL the groups that come from the Polynesian cultures, not just hawaiian. and... all of those legends happened 'before' what would be the movie moanas time frame yeah? so maybe her parents named her after a their fave demigoddess >.> or ya know.. its just a common cultural name. if it was based off Hawaii's Muai he woulda been a skinny lil whimp XD
I agree, many of these movies attempt to find a way to " break the news to us gently".....we are more than human and have gods in our ancestry. We have come so far from this knowledge in the West, that we must sneak this info back into our consciousness through movies. Thank you for your comment.👍
My theory - and this is just a theory- is that people who share an ethnicity have similar facial features in general, and since they're both drawn in Disney style, Moana and Te Fiti have similarities. Ik that's a little out there, but it's just what I believe :P
It could also explain why her Grandmother asked her if she knew who she was. Like obviously it could be seen the way Moana took, trying to remind her who she was and how she’d made it that far, or it could’ve been her asking if she’d yet realized who she truly was: a Demigod.
The grandma kept asking moana if she knew who she was and moana was clearly trying to find out why she loved the ocean so maybe when moana went on to save te fiti she found out that she is te fiti so she basically found herself. Hence why tefiti looks like her let's not forget tht she was listening to the calling in her heart b4 she even got te fitis heart and once the heart was returned flowers started growing etc... moana is te fiti the mission was for her to save herself by finding out who she really is.
I don’t think they look alike either. Like you said, there are similarities because they are the same ethnicity so share similar features. Moana was an ordinary girl (apart from being the daughter of a chief). She was chosen because the ocean saw her heart. Descended from voyagers. The ocean called and she was brave enough to answer.
Exactly, also its very clear that they are different, Moana has a elongated face while Te Fiti has more of a round face, Moana has horizontal eye frames and Te Fiti has like a cats eye.
Omg thank you. I really don’t think they look alike. I’m hesitant to say it’s racism that makes people think they look alike, but it’s certainly possible. They don’t look alike, they’re just the same race and women
I think Te Feti took the face of the person that saved her, just like Moana’s grandmother, who came back as a sting ray. Moana probably didn’t cross over, she was just at the border
I think Moana is a reincarnation of Te Fiti. That’s why she’s the only one who can return “the heart”. Maybe she only dies because Te Fiti knows she will be the one to restore the heart and in that, healing Moana and herself so that she can transport her back to the world of the living.
It is very fascinating. I rather like the darker theories than the just plain old "She was kind & brave." Shtick Disney often does. Though those qualities are very important it's just boring. It would have been interesting to see what Moana's demi goddess gifts would be. It's always fun to hear about the different theories people come up with 😊!
"Do we even have to talk about when Tala (I think how pronounced) passed away she not only-" *CRYING VOICE* "Broke our hearts..." I feel you man, I feel you
It's so surprising why people are concern.its just a Disney film.far from realistic. So many disney cartoons have different characters using the same face playing different roles
Because it was meant to entertain kids that's why they didn't stated that If u watch the movie again with high level of thinking u will get all the point
It sounds interesting. I don't think she had to be a demigod to be as strong as she appeared in the movie I think she was getting that power from the stone heart itself. The ability to go to other worlds however I can one of these stories matching .
You said that Moana didn't come into contact with any normal entity from the moment she "died" until she got home, but she did have Heihei, although I'm not sure if that alone could really disprove this theory.
leta be honest, the fact that Heihei is alive at all shows some supernatural magic 😂😂 but for real I like hearing other people's theories even if that's all they are
The Ocean chose Moana because she helped that baby turtle. If it had been because of her ancestry, then it would have chosen one of those ancestors generations ago.
@@lyndseystrait1513 They WERE all unfit until Moana because according to their lore, when many of their boats didn't return, they wimped out and stopped "adventuring". BUT Moana was different. She was very enthusiastic about want to follow in her ancestor's footsteps.
I actually think moanas dad was originally supposed to deliver the heart, as you see in the movie her dad and his friend set off into the ocean at night on their boat, I always thought of it being like a joy ride at first like teens be but that actually doesn't make much sense, what if they were actually setting out of their journey to restore the heart but it ended in disaster and he gave up after his friends death?! It would certainly explain his hatred for the heart with him telling Moana "this is not a heart! It is just a rock!" It seemed his hatred grew upon him simply seeing the heart.
idk, i don't really think tefiti looks EXACTLY like moana. they have similar features because both have soft feminine faces with characteristic features of the pacific islander people (pardon me if i'm naming the ethnicity wrong).
i mean, te fiti has higher cheekbones, fuller lips (especially the bottom one) with a pronounced cupid's bow, whereas moana doesn't have a cupid's bow at all, and te fiti also has a wider nose. there's even shots of them doing the exact same facial expression and if you look at em side by side you can clearly see the difference
i have one other theory that the green hart stone and the case for it isnt actually a ying yang symbol it is actually the sea since as you can see in the movie the main position of the sea if that exact position but as i said it is only a theory but could lead to something
There is the chance that the Chief isn't her real father, and Sina, Moana's mother, in Polynesian mythos, was married to Maui, who killed an eel, buried it's guts, sprouted a tree now you got coconuts!
8:27 in small island nations like what moana lives in, just about every single person born from the villiage is a relative of everyone else in the village. Especially if they have been isolated for hundreds of years. Hence; every single person on the island has a similar demigod blood status
The heart of tafiti is the gift of life, grandma tala dies after she gives the heart to moana after seeming fine and not ill at all untill she lets go of the heart. Then moana survives so may things that should kill her but she always had the heart so the gift of live so its propbly more that the heart made who ever held it imortal...
If the ocean did know that to complete her mission she’d have to die, and her grandmother was somewhat spiritual, here’s another add on idea: her grandmother knew she’d die. Her grandmother knew Moana would die too. So to continue to be with her granddaughter, she said “go” aka “go so you can be with me again” 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I like to think the more simple answer: The Heart of Te Feti kept Moana safe and with super human breath holding abilities. She answered the call to bring back the heart so the heart and the ocean kept her safe.
You know I always just thought her symbol was waves because water is shown in many cultures as a symbol of life and death ,healing and destruction, and the ocean was apart of her giftset
They are from the same ethnicity of course they share some features, but saying that they look the same is just like saying that Polynesian women look all the same.
i like the idea that moana was actually made by the heart itself. since it creates life her family having it effected them and she has inherited a small bit of her power? might explain the ocean responding to her and her alone too.
The ocean wave is the exact symbol on the heart of Te'Fiti. There is definite connection between the ocean and land. Is Te'Ka the volcano the same being as Te'Fiti the mountain and the only thing keeping one from turning into the other is the heart? Or...are they two different beings? Is it a commentary on how sometimes we are one way(happy, satisfied) until an issue arises and something is taken away, we become negative (unhappy, unsatisfied), until something is offered to fill that empty space we continue to be negative.... 🤔
It was about a young girl managing her emotions for the passing of her grandmother and how that was the heart of the island. She had learned and stepped into her leadership and matriarchal role.
WOW I LOVE this commentary! It seems that you don't get enough spiritual commentary on many movies 😃 YES, I agree with your suggestions! They opened my eyes to a whole new level of the movie. I mean I LOVED the movie from the beginning, and own a copy. But now I'm going to have to go and watch it again with this deeper perspective. I had an NDE experience back in 2011, well more it was I think the beginning of a death experience but I called on Jesus or the angels, that I had recently been learning more about to help me (and no, I'm not religious 😄)and they pulled me back and gave me the ability to see into my sub conscious. From there I learned that a guy I had started seeing and ghosted me, had been doing mind control and spell work behind my back, and I was very isolated in my life and kind of living between the worlds. I remember feeling at times that I was dead, tho I was still breathing and eating, but I rested and slept a lot (It was the time the Malevolent movie came out which had references too, and similar 'kind of dark' and not of the world of humans theme too). So, I have another theory that your comments awakened; and that is that Moana may be the inner child of the 'adult' Tefiti. And the inner child had to go into 'the underworld' or world of spirits to return the heart as she (Tefiti) wasn't capable of it. Similarly to where the young man tricks Malevolent with wine or potion (And Snow White - The poisoned apple, in The Huntsmen) and takes her wings from her so she cannot fly until she eventually retrieves them. Interesting to note that she also has a young female (Aurora) involved there too. Anyway, these are my thoughts. Let me know what you think!
there is also a theory that maui is moanas true father which is explained in matpats video due to the polynesian mythology surrounding maui himself so that could also explain how she has demi god abilities and why maui looks so much like moana
This does make sense, but I agree with Allan as well. She could also just come back looking like the way she wants to, which is the way that she usually chooses to look and BAM! she just happens to look like Moana. I support what I said because Te Fiti looked the exact same way in Tala's story.
My personal opinion is that it’s disney movie so the main character had to live and about te fi te they either reused something they had or it’s what others are saying
That would mean the Hei Hei is a demi god as well. but I think that the dead Moana/demigod theories are totally wrong. I think Moana is alive and human.
What if Moana’s father and uncle going beyond the reef and her uncle’s death and her father’s near death made Chief Tuī a demigod? And Moana being the child of a demigod and a human; also was born a demigod.
The word "demigod" is just poor translation. Polynesian doesn't have a concept of people who are half divinity and half human. But they had humans with supernatural powers who were not gods, but above humans.
@@katrinawoods3608 ngl legit all the theory seems dumb, but this seems the most smartest one I've seen ( I get its your choice, but it is rude to say a smart thing is dumb, or at least but (No offence) acting like its gonna work-)
For one to become a demigod you either need to be have a parent that is a God and a mortal as the other parent or be a descendant of a god but with the powers and dormant only to be awaken through near death experience you don't really have to die in order to have it awakened.
Demigod is just a bad translation. Polynesia doesn't have a concept of demigods, but they have a concept of supernatural people who are above regular humans, but below gods, there just isn't a very great translation for that in English. They should have just used the original word, and explained what it meant because the "demigod" translation gives serious incorrect implications.
This was probably her mission to find herself or something. Kinda like those movies that talk about the treasure not being a real thing but instead the real treasure is the friends you made along the way.
That's an interesting theory. As I haven't watched any movies in a few years, I didn't develop any theories. But when I watch clips like this, it helps me know the stories
Honestly I think it's more complicated than we all think. There are many theories that could be. It could be that Te fiti just resembled who saved her. It could be that the ocean chose moana because she looked like Te fiti . It could be that moana is the human form of Te fiti on land who was the only one capable to save her. It could be that Te fitis heart gave life and power and so when grandma passed it on to moana she died and moana got powers to give Te fitis heart back. It could be that moana died and became a Demi God and that was the only way to save Te fiti. It could be that the ocean chose her, killed her, turned her into a Demi God , and guided her to save Te fiti. It could be that the ocean picked the most curious person to save Te fiti because it couldn't do it. Frankly I believe all these things and non of these things at the same time. I do remember having a lot of questions after this movie but I never looked too deeply into them and I regret that. All if these things could be true. They could make up one theory intertwined and locked with each other. Or Disney might not have written it for us to understand and solve and break down like this. That's why I think it's either all or nothing. And I also think that this video carries a lot of propaganda because we are all allowed to have our own theories and opinions on this. Thanks for reading
The ocean chose moana cause her ancestors were voyagers.. And maui said that the ocean and tefiti loved when her people were discovering islands. So the ocean chose her to be the one who helps maui restore the heart of tefiti in order to resume the voyager activities. Maybe she is a descendant of tefiti with demi-god status but for the reason why the ocean chose her i guess it would be more logical than the whole death theory
I always had the thought of Moana being a demigod as well. Just didn’t have the time and energy to look into it but this was basically my mindset when it came across my brains. I support the death-to-demigod theory.
The moral is to find your own way, you may feel your heart is crushed and stolen but you know who you truly are on the inside. She returned her heart to herself when she found herself through what was expected of her.
its clear to me that moana happens to be the mortal tefiti existing in the land of the living and it couldve been anybody else but since nobody resembled her more she became the chosen one moreover, her loyalty was tested by the ocean just to make sure that she really is the one. my theory can be proved easily due to the fact that it has been centuries since the heart was stolen so why now? its just a coincidence that she resembled te fiti and the perfect description of a fearless warrior just made it more convenient
Honestly Moana is a fiction movie so you can’t really compare it to real life so in conclusion I don’t think those theories are true but I guess they could be.
We do know who Maui's parents are and we do know who Te Fiti's children are and there is so much more to the story and it makes me sad that he doesn't seem to have done any actual research since these are the stories I grew up with.
If he would actually do some research, he would actually understand the "demigod" is just a really bad translation, and that it in no way means that anyone is half god
When I was 8, we went (technically moved) to the cayman islands. And one day my parents went to this one spot where sting rays were really social. The locals were like saying how they will swim right up to you all at once and nearly knock you over. Usually timid. But not in every case. I don't remember where they said it was, and I didn't go. And glad I hadn't gone, coz that sounded terrifying to me. I was afraid they'd knock me over and I'd drown or get stung lol.
moana dying would have been the last thing i thought of also how do we know this is true this isn't the only movie where somebody washes up on a shore or crashed into sea one example frozen now its not exactly the same but knowing the fact that she also had a big wave crashed upon makes me wonder did she look like moana because moana saved her like allan tidgwell said ''nature doesn't actually have a face'' intresting theory this video has but not very convincing or realistic. great video overall
but what if they were literal descendants of tefeti and thier powers only show up in some of the descendants like her grandma and her buwhat could be accounted special for her would be that she was already having godly blood but was also chosen by the ocean who could be acting n accord of the sea good thus making her a by blood demigod and a chosen demigod
Maui tells moana his history. He was born of human parents then the gods saw him and gave him the hook, and made him a demigod. Hercules is called a demigod bc he lost his godhood and was human. Thus he was half and half. None of that means death to become one. They can be made.and the whole stingray theory from what I gather when the grandmother talks about it they choose a tattoo of what they want to become after death and she choose stingray. That seems to be from a culture belief. Not bc of whose line they were born from. One last thing, have there been any heroine that has gotten hurt in a disney film? No they weren’t, were they demigods? No they were the heros of the story. I do find the different theories intriguing though.
My theory is (hear me out for a second I know it's a little "out there") they're in the same movie, are the same gender, and are the same race so they just look similar. I KNOW RIGHT?!??!
As Moana is my childhood dream. I highly recommend Disney to make te fiti’s evil form less traumatic. It truly scared me as a 6 yr old. Now I am in my teens, it’s less effective but forever haunts me still.
I mean, you can’t really say that DNA runs through Te Fiti and Moana and that’s why Moana was able to restore her heart, because as we all know, Te Ka is Te Fiti and if Te Fiti knew that Moana was blood then that would mean Te Ka would know. So if Te Ka knew Moana was blood, why would she constantly attack Moana? Especially when she was going to the hill where she thought the spiral for the heart was
I think the simpler answer is that Te Fiti just mirrored the face of the person who brought back her heart. She's a nature goddess, I'd assume she can look like whatever she wants to look like since nature doesn't actually have a face

Second, that term was used waaayyyy before slave times (if by slave times you mean the enslavement of ADOS), just in different languages. But you’ll realize that when you do more research, live more life, and go further on your journey.
It's just Disney logic lol
I agree! It does make a lot of sense. Makes me want to watch it again with a better understanding of the true meaning.
Te fiti*
Yes I want her to be my wife.
She wasn't afraid of the sea.
actually in the Hawaiian legend this movie is based on Moana is actually a demigod
many cultures have legends of Maui, they chose a mix of sources to represent ALL the groups that come from the Polynesian cultures, not just hawaiian. and... all of those legends happened 'before' what would be the movie moanas time frame yeah? so maybe her parents named her after a their fave demigoddess >.> or ya know.. its just a common cultural name. if it was based off Hawaii's Muai he woulda been a skinny lil whimp XD
@@ToxicVideoKitten6 Moana literally just means "ocean" in many Polynesian languages, and also happens to be Samoan for "blue".
Incorrect. Polynesian culture has no concept of demigods.
Ik that's a little out there, but it's just what I believe
:P
I think so too. Te fiti doesn’t look all that similar to Moana except for the ethnic features
Nah man thats way to far fetched
Yeah idk, not sure if I’m sold on that idea. :/ /j
"Why Moana and Te Fiti are related"
Translation: "All Polynesians look the same"
Yikes video author
yeah, that's incredibly ridiculous and farfetched. It makes absolutely no sense at all.
Theorist: even professionals would have a hard time swimming that deep
Me: THIS IS A CHILDRENS MOVIE!
Hence why tefiti looks like her let's not forget tht she was listening to the calling in her heart b4 she even got te fitis heart and once the heart was returned flowers started growing etc... moana is te fiti the mission was for her to save herself by finding out who she really is.
good theory but not accurate.. sorry dont get mad at me i just think so
Bro wrote a whole paragraph over a movie-
So the film is basically a massive metaphor for finding yourself and your identity as you get older?
I like this a lot
@@Silly_emo_girl so what? Others have done the same…
Te fiti doesn’t look like Moana. They both have the same ethnicity, similar facial feature, but they don’t look alike.
My sentiments exactly
Omg thank you. I really don’t think they look alike. I’m hesitant to say it’s racism that makes people think they look alike, but it’s certainly possible. They don’t look alike, they’re just the same race and women
Me too I thought I was tripping. But they do not look alike xD
I think Te Feti took the face of the person that saved her, just like Moana’s grandmother, who came back as a sting ray. Moana probably didn’t cross over, she was just at the border
Honestly now that I look at it, I realize how in creative the designs were in moana
ikr
I think Moana is a reincarnation of Te Fiti. That’s why she’s the only one who can return “the heart”. Maybe she only dies because Te Fiti knows she will be the one to restore the heart and in that, healing Moana and herself so that she can transport her back to the world of the living.
I’ve always loved the lore in this movie and love the new theories that keep coming up!
"Do we even have to talk about when Tala (I think how pronounced) passed away she not only-"
*CRYING VOICE* "Broke our hearts..."
I feel you man, I feel you
Simple answer: it’s a Disney film, it’s far from realistic
It's so surprising why people are concern.its just a Disney film.far from realistic. So many disney cartoons have different characters using the same face playing different roles
@@stellaamoah7488 right like have you seen encanto like----
Moana didn’t die guys. They would have stated that. Some one did say that Tahiti just mirrored the person who saved her,
Because it was meant to entertain kids that's why they didn't stated that
If u watch the movie again with high level of thinking u will get all the point
She also was able to hug her grandmother in her celestial form, supports this theory!
Maybe the heart blessed her to become a demigod. She only survived death and was revived as a demigod because she possesed the heart of Tafiti
It sounds interesting.
I don't think she had to be a demigod to be as strong as she appeared in the movie I think she was getting that power from the stone heart itself.
The ability to go to other worlds however I can one of these stories matching .
Could the heart not have brought her back to life and maybe even granted some powers considering it does create life?
I believe that moana is the essence of another god but she could also be descended from te fiti
You said that Moana didn't come into contact with any normal entity from the moment she "died" until she got home, but she did have Heihei, although I'm not sure if that alone could really disprove this theory.
leta be honest, the fact that Heihei is alive at all shows some supernatural magic 😂😂 but for real I like hearing other people's theories even if that's all they are
Heihei is her spirit guide, like in Coco lol
WHAT IN THE TE KA MAKES YOU THINK THAT CHICKEN IS A NORMAL ENTITY
Heihei is the most spiritual thing remember the man at the beginning complaining about him eating rocks doesn't eat food 😆😆😆
MOANA2 IS GOING TO BE A DISNEY SERIES COMING IN 2023
The Ocean chose Moana because she helped that baby turtle. If it had been because of her ancestry, then it would have chosen one of those ancestors generations ago.
That is a great point the video failed to mention. Why wait to save Tafiti for multiple generations unless the ocean thought they were ALL unfit?
@@lyndseystrait1513 They WERE all unfit until Moana because according to their lore, when many of their boats didn't return, they wimped out and stopped "adventuring". BUT Moana was different. She was very enthusiastic about want to follow in her ancestor's footsteps.
@@foofoo3344 True, fair point!
@@HART-sk3bz I could see that. The movie does keep bringing up how much Moana was like her Dad was as a young man. Interesting.
idk, i don't really think tefiti looks EXACTLY like moana. they have similar features because both have soft feminine faces with characteristic features of the pacific islander people (pardon me if i'm naming the ethnicity wrong).
i mean, te fiti has higher cheekbones, fuller lips (especially the bottom one) with a pronounced cupid's bow, whereas moana doesn't have a cupid's bow at all, and te fiti also has a wider nose. there's even shots of them doing the exact same facial expression and if you look at em side by side you can clearly see the difference
i have one other theory that the green hart stone and the case for it isnt actually a ying yang symbol it is actually the sea since as you can see in the movie the main position of the sea if that exact position but as i said it is only a theory but could lead to something
There is the chance that the Chief isn't her real father, and Sina, Moana's mother, in Polynesian mythos, was married to Maui, who killed an eel, buried it's guts, sprouted a tree now you got coconuts!
He's literally called Maui demigod of the Wind and Sea I feel like Moana would be Moana demigod of the Earth and Sky or something like that
8:27 in small island nations like what moana lives in, just about every single person born from the villiage is a relative of everyone else in the village. Especially if they have been isolated for hundreds of years. Hence; every single person on the island has a similar demigod blood status
I can't believe I'm this early!? Also, this is a really great point!!
If she was a demigod then Tamatoa wouldn't call her human when he saw her.
unless he didn't exactly know
She survived every thing because she is the main character
6:39 the paterns on the heart of tefiti also looks like a wave
Except that Te Fiti and Moana really don't look all that much alike...
My thoughts too. The Fiti just generally has the same look as the other girls and women from the village, not Moana in perticular.
You’re right, they don’t 😂
The heart of tafiti is the gift of life, grandma tala dies after she gives the heart to moana after seeming fine and not ill at all untill she lets go of the heart. Then moana survives so may things that should kill her but she always had the heart so the gift of live so its propbly more that the heart made who ever held it imortal...
Te Fiti looks like the people who worship her. You see that in many mythologies from around the world.
Or what if Te Fiti just takes the form of whoever saves her?
could just be she is the same race when she was a human?
(yes this is a another theory, about Te Fiti being a human.)
I’m a native Polynesian and thought moana and tefiti looked different lmaoo
Can we agree that Baby Moana is the cutest thing🥰
Me: Willa You Are So Done
Willa: SHUT UP GIRLIE 1:56
*Dies From Moana In The Sea* 😵😵😵😵😵😵😵😵😵😵😵
Baby Moana saving the baby turtle is one of the cutest things I've ever seen in a Disney movie 🥰
I like to think the more simple answer: The Heart of Te Feti kept Moana safe and with super human breath holding abilities. She answered the call to bring back the heart so the heart and the ocean kept her safe.
Super human breath holding?! What gave you that idea?
Woah! I had no idea about these theories! But that's pretty cool!
You know I always just thought her symbol was waves because water is shown in many cultures as a symbol of life and death ,healing and destruction, and the ocean was apart of her giftset
i love this theory but i just dont see the identical look. te fiti just looks different from moana to me
They are from the same ethnicity of course they share some features, but saying that they look the same is just like saying that Polynesian women look all the same.
@@FWU100 Yeah!
Fool they look just alike what in God's name are you looking at😮
i like the idea that moana was actually made by the heart itself. since it creates life her family having it effected them and she has inherited a small bit of her power? might explain the ocean responding to her and her alone too.
I also think a lot of it might just be the fact that’s it’s an animation, but it’s still fun to theorize.
I think you wrapped that up nicely 👌🏻
I really like both of the theories that were just mentioned.
WOW I LOVE this commentary! It seems that you don't get enough spiritual commentary on many movies 😃
YES, I agree with your suggestions!
She died , rose as a demigod and then granted the possibility of coming back as human to meet her earthly parents.
Olaf in that one corner: “Water has memory.. 😶”
People take the movies way to serious but thank you for researching and the info.
I think the whole reason Maui was saved is because he was a descendant of the ocean
I thought that Moana was Ti Fiti and it was symbolising saving herself.
Ngl that sounds dumb (No offense)
How is Hey-hey still alive aswell? Is he going to become the demigod of chickens and all birds species?
How could she interact with anyone else in the middle of the ocean?
Comment leader is back. You guys got love all the way from Ghana 🇬🇭
There’s a whole in your theory. If Moana is tefiti then who’s heart did she set out to return and why did she give it to herself 😌
🤣
her demi god status could have been sealed the day her dad and his friend went to go beyond the reef but he survive while the friend died
I was just watching that movie when this came out
Nice girl
I read somewhere that Moana’s name means “Ocean”
I’m ready for Moana 2 because these theories has me thinking about the mature Moana.
I was afraid they'd knock me over and I'd drown or get stung lol.
moana dying would have been the last thing i thought of also how do we know this is true this isn't the only movie where somebody washes up on a shore or crashed into sea one example frozen now its not exactly the same but knowing the fact that she also had a big wave crashed upon makes me wonder did she look like moana because moana saved her like allan tidgwell said ''nature doesn't actually have a face'' intresting theory this video has but not very convincing or realistic. great video overall
the amount of high belting she has to do while rowing is truly a superhuman feat.
but what if they were literal descendants of tefeti and thier powers only show up in some of the descendants like her grandma and her buwhat could be accounted special for her would be that she was already having godly blood but was also chosen by the ocean who could be acting n accord of the sea good thus making her a by blood demigod and a chosen demigod
This makes SO MUCH SENSE
Mulan got hurt. When she was fighting the huns. :) that hiw she was exposed as a woman

She didn't drown as a baby though so......
We MIGHT be overthinking this.
My theory is (hear me out for a second I know it's a little "out there") they're in the same movie, are the same gender, and are the same race so they just look similar.

Especially when she was going to the hill where she thought the spiral for the heart was
The more reasonable reason is
The animators got too lazy to make another different face
