Lions of War If they grow up in the cold, the males grow belly mane. They share some traits with North-African lions...

Like Rishi said, lions that grow up in colder climates have bigger manes. In tropical Africa, lions that lived in mountainous areas, were known for having bigger manes than lions in lower altitudes, because mountainous areas are colder than the rest of Africa. Wild Asiatic lions in the past also had manes like this, they mainly lived on mountains in Western Asia (Iran, Iraq, Syria, ect) and the forests of Eastern Europe. So manes like this was very common in the past, but now very few wild lions have it, because most of them live in hot tropical areas. Only some live in temperate areas, like the mountainous Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater or parts of Southern Africa.

@@lionsofwar6707 only Asiatic lions have hair on their belly, and the thing abt lions mane as well as size is that it depends on the climate they grow in, in india these lions have shorter mane while same lion might have quite large mane if it lives in colder climate. It is factual and you can google about the research.

Very thick mane, high neck from shoulder, and any one can recognize face of an asiatic lion specialy with slightly larger eyes than an African lion. These are not Asiatic lions
