This is the problem, they’re wild animals and people think they know what they’re going to do. For all we know that guy was seconds away from having his foot in the leopard’s mouth and being dragged off the truck.
Nah, that guy was intended to be food. The leopard was testing how defendless the guy was, I've seen them be this calm when grabbing weaker animals like foals or cubs. Leopards aren't picky with their food. From the big cat group, Tigers and Leopards are notorious man eaters.

they dont usually run at each other like rams. they lower the antlers and use them usually to push the weaker bull back. This was a young elk probably his first mating season as this was in the fall. The shark attack was scary. The surfing board looks like a seal from underneath. The tourist's boat shoes is made of cowhide. The leopard could drag him out of the Jeep.
Yes, that was lucky as they are notorious for killing predators when they get hand on them. One kick with a leg or smash with the head can easily kill a human.
It amazes me how animals that could kill in an instant if they felt like it are so often peaceful and just curious yet so many humans do nothing but harm to them or their environment
That's the funny thing, the ones with the most capacity for violence have the most freedom to be peaceful and stay safe. I hope I get to see animals like these people did one day, I have no delusions that it wouldn't be dangerous, but knowing that I'd still take the risk.

A few years ago when i was visiting the Maldives with my wife, we took a ride on a jet ski. @@KittenUndercover No, cats are normally not that brave creatures. We like to romantise these animals like ‘as brave as a lion’ or ‘lionheart’ but they are easily scared. You can see this in the lion porch video. Yes its good to stay calm but only when its on a distance. If a feline predator this dangerous is so close to you, you have to act. Eventually he did by starting the car and make loud sounds, but it was way too late and luckily had no critical consequences.
Are we not gonna talk about how chill that massive danger noodle was? Literally “Yesssss, ssssir, I am gorgeoussss and you have permissssion to film me.”
Makes sense that it would be so calm. They're naturally sluggish, one good size meal can hold you over for a year, and when you're THAT big, nothing's messing with you.
The shame about the guy with the elk is that because he stayed in place and let the elk approach him and did not follow the Great Smokey Mountains National Park Rules about maintaining his 150 ft distance from the wildlife, the Park Rangers were forced to put down that elk so that his testing behavior would not escalate into an aggressive danger to other tourists in this highly trafficked section of the park. In addition the guy was liable for a fine of $5000 and subject to arrest if found per park rules for this very reason. Don’t go after that perfect shot to the detriment of the wildlife that you are trying to capture on film. When ever you can, leave them a respectful distance. Don’t let wild animals start bad habits of interacting with you that could lead to their later death. There is a big difference between a petting zoo and wild animals in their own habitat. Respect that. Don’t send your young child out into the field to get a photo with Mama Bear and her cubs. Even if your child survives the experience, the bears may not. (Actual example from Cades Cove, GSMNP. My friend stopped the child and was chewed out by the human mother for “spoiling her intended photo”).
So many people are butt stupid arrogant about animals and it is nearly always animal that pays the price for it. If people can't respect animals when doing this, people should be banned. Animals would be better off and safer.
The reality is sad, and I appreciate your attempt to increase awareness. However, your tone is very condescending which means you likely won't reach many people on a deeper level.
I wonder what he could’ve done differently. Is he at fault for being on a trafficked road? The elk moved up to the road, I wouldn’t blame the photographer for that. But in principle, of course I agree with you.
Very trigger friendly putting down an elk for nothing. Everytime an animal approaches you, you will put it down so that it does not approach others and cause bodily harm. How convenient. I am not condoning that guy's behaviour in the wild, but it is not worse than killing that elk for sure

She was clever and the people around her were stupid. They kept handing her the fruit, but they should have tossed it to the ground away from them, so she let go. Now she will learn to keep hold of a person, as she will get more and more fruit the longer she holds on. It's also clear this isn't the first time she has done this. the leopard encounter was fascinating. the cat had absolutely no intention of hurting the guy, he was just curious. when he put his paw on the guys leg and he went "ow", the leopard backed off, and didn't try to claw at the leg again, just the shoe
