Here in the UK, if you smile at a cop, you're liable to be arrested for behaving suspiciously. There are some real gems amongst them, but in the main, better to keep eyes front and mind your own business.
That was hysterical! Sure does bring back memories, not much has changed. I love the sense of humor of the neighborhood police woman. I bet she was able to tell some stories to her family that night. Thanks for your kind humor
That goes back to a 1950s or 60s war movie involving ancient Roman oared galleys, and then revived in Animal House. I can hear both "Ramming Speed!" refrains clearly, one with a kettle drum pounding out the rhythm for the galley slaves, and the other with Otter and D-Day in Flounder's brother's hacked up Lincoln Continental, turned into an "Eat Me" parade float. So Mustie's an Animal House fan?
Remember those days long gone, when what you drove really was a gamble to get you there and back? It's times like these that bring back old memories, and of course the police just add to that. Nice vid.
Yeah, I remember those days. I had a '66 Francis Barnett 150 Plover. Full tool kit and spare piston rings in the rucksack for every trip more than ten miles....happy days!
Yeah I remember my first wife and I frantically changing over a generator on an old Ford Corsair in the middle of Dartmoor...lucky I had the spare and a full toolkit in the boot...unlucky one was a right-hand bracket genny, the other a left...had to swap backplates before it'd fit...got us home though...fortunately it was Summer...Dartmoor's not always nice in Winter...
Yes 1965 V4 1700...ran on tyres like razorblades and still went like the wind at fifteen years old...sounded brilliant but very thirsty....think we managed 18 to 20 mpg...
Yeah, fer sher... you would think they could have at least first walked down themselves and asked him what he was doing, or even just waited a few minutes and watched to see what happened. Police and lawyers are not supposed to be your spokespeople... if there isn't any "clear and present danger", at least TRY saying something to the person first, and find out what's going on. I have had cops talk to me about stuff when I wasn't even aware that anyone had been upset or concerned about something that I may (or may NOT --- some people will lie or grossly exaggerate when complaining to the fuzz) have done.
If he'd pulled right up her drive to the house, then maybe ask him what he wants/what he's doing. Parked by the roadside, obviously *something's* wrong. Maybe ask if she can *help* before calling the ****** cops. Some people. smh. I hope she goes to Mustie for help one day. Thing is, he probably *would* help her, because he's not a sad individual with twitchy curtains. How many folks reading this probably wouldn't have noticed it at the bottom of their drive?
Made me laugh. Years ago I worked for Steven Willand Inc. a Cushman distributer in Ct. Took a NYC park police Cushman to get egg sandwiches one morning and got pulled over by New Milford PD. They also had a sense of hummer. Great video and thanks for the memory. Russ
You are one great friend VWnut 1967! Seems like you are always doing the work while Mustie1 is taking a ride. Good to have neighbors like you! I'm enjoying your channel too!

You tried to get the Cushman to the wash and back with the motor in it. Good idea to put the hazards/4 ways on.

@@co880 someone in my hometown called the police because they ran over horse manure that was in the road. The cop came and gave them a hefty ticket for negligent use of 911.
DUDE!!! I'm laughing so hard that I am in tears. I remember in high school driving one of those cushman when I worked for the city. They are so much fun! Some times when they would not start we had to push them to a hill and let them do a rolling start. They are so easy to flood and we was always tweaking the lean on the carb to make it go faster and keep the idle up in cold weather lol
Wow reminds me of old days ! Mustie great to see you doing same as past from my memory's even dealing with local cops same back then ! Love your passion for all you do !
Yeah it’s nice when the police can act like human beings. I’m up in Maine and a few years ago my buddy and I were driving around in his Lotus Elise and we saw a cop swing around and come up behind us, he then pulled up along side us and gave us a thumbs up!
Love it Mustie! If that happened here in Australia you would be locked up by now that's for sure. The cops here, regardless of gender, are required to leave their sense of humour at the gate the first day they enter the academy. 👮
Ramming speed, right out of The Last Starfighter. Enjoyed the video. I stranded my 67 Buick GS 340 after the carwash engine bay cleaning. I lost my engine to frame ground by a couple drops of water. I spent almost a week of spare time trying to find the problem. LOL
I’m always amazed at what some people call the police about! We live near a a large military post and it never fails that when they do explosives training someone always calls 911 to say that they heard a boom! Same thing if theres a strange light in the sky. Folks thats not what thats for! Keep on keeping on Mustie!
Love the dark and menacing photo of the patrol car! Based on it, I was expecting a high speed chase drama with exchange of gun fire ... :-), glad to see she was only amazed that it was actually running! Love your channel, keep up the good work

That is the type of police that I really love and the community can appreciate, don't sweat the small stuff! When I was a kid I used to dismantle vehicles and dragged them up our driveway on the roof and have them upside down in our street loading them on to a trailer ! Now a days you would probably be arrested if you did something like that. Love watching your stuff because I like all kinds of odd ball vehicles as well and have owned quite a few over the years!
Yeah but if they did come out you would get done for probably no MOT/tax/insurance, have the vehicle impounded and crushed and 3 points on your license. So it's not illegal in the states (or some of them) to drive a dodgy car on the road?
Hey Mustie1, Didn't Al Bundy have to push his Dodge home all the time!!! For my offroad Cushmans, I moved to a gravity feed gas tanks... Ur lucky she was a cool cop who knows U, if not, it could of gotten expensive...
The key thing she said was " whenever i train people i tell them about you" thats just solid people right there, go catch criminals not hassle the guy bringing old vehicles back from the dead.Good cops training others are worth their weight in gold.
HAHA SO TRUE WITH AL BUNDY.. HE LOVED HIS DODGE!!!! Great show I still watch it (Repeats of course) the best thing Al said was "Missed you with every Bullet" the eps, was Peg cam home from her moms and asked Al " Did you Miss me Al" anyways, Yes, You Hit the Nail On the Head with the "Bundy's & Al's Dodge" Great comment!

I'm not surprised about how the cop acted. Honestly, most of my interactions with law enforcement have been pleasant. I'm a black male in Long Beach, California. Go figure...

Didn't know you guys across the pond had 3 wheeled vehicles. I'm restoring on on my channel at the moment here in the UK. Great to see the police not trying to enforce anything.
1. As police radio technician I had the dubious honor of installing radio, siren and bar lights on these things. As expected, the alternator couldn't handle the load for long. 2. Our interoffice mail delivery guy, who was actually a trustee on loan from the famous Birmingham Jail, violated the law when he took the one reserved for local road use only out on the interstate. He got a ticket, was fired and went straight back to jail. 3. When the city decided to dump and auction these things (we had ten of them in various states of disrepair), I thought about buying one to run around the home neighborhood fro groceries & such. The guys at the garage strongly recommended against it, as upkeep would have been far more that I would want to spend.
God! I had a friend who was a green keeper on a golf course here in the UK. I used to help him out some Saturday mornings putting the green flags out etc and they had a Cushman to get around on. The sound of you first starting it up when you got it bought back memories. I even remembered the shift pattern and i'm going back to the mid 1980's. I didn't even have a drivers licence back then but used to screen across the course early in the mornings. I also recall in a hard winter the river had flooded and then the remaining pools of water had frozen solid. We used to see how many 360 spins we could do on the ice lol. Had to push it out of the drifts after we got it wronga few times though. Don't think we've had snow like that since here in the suburbs of London.
"At this point I kinda want to give it a bath".... and so, Mustie's Excellent Adventure begins... Tune in next week when we hear Mustie1 say, "I kinda want put a small block Chevy in it."
