This is amazing advice, thank you! A few years ago I animated a little two-minute short, but left it at being fully hand-drawn animated but with no colour or finishing. Recently I've been thinking about coming back to it and not only finishing it, but touching it up since I've got considerably more experienced at animation than when I first made it. I'd also been thinking about figuring out what I could change to just improve it overall as well, since in hindsight it felt a bit flat to me.
This video has made me not only realise that I was lacking any such structure to the short, but also helped me see how I could, without deviating too much from the original concept, change it up to fit those proper act beats! I can already tell it's going to be a better story this time around; really, really appreciate this video!
(Also, have to agree: Piper is one of my very favourite Pixar shorts too! :D)

@@writeforanimation I'm pretty happy with the direction it is going, I love your dissections of stories and character arcs. If I had to say a suggestion maybe it would be to address every aspect of the craft of storyteller even those less talked about like subtext, character archetypes, foreboding, etc... Love your content man. sorry for my English, not good enough
