Hello! I’m new to this field of video and film. I’m a creative and restless person who tends to jump from one activity to another. My whole life, I’ve been passionate about dance, which led me to become a dancer and choreographer, performing in light and fire shows. The moment I discovered the world of video editing, I was immediately drawn to it. But, as often happens, when I faced the reality of not being able to recreate everything I imagine in my mind, I felt disappointed. Then I came across your video. And I just want to say a huge thank you. You inspire and motivate me to take action. Your humor, and simplicity feel so genuine, so alive. Just, thank you. I hope I can overcome my own challenges and eventually create my first real short film 😊
Opinion from a junior student thinking her path in life : Im always stress when people ask me what i want to be in life? And coming from a family full of IVY LEAGUE the pressure is stressful and i replied ill work in the film industry because i like it and idk i resonate with films. Many have told me to drop the ivy league dream if im doing movies and like the media industry as well IVY Leaugue is mostly about academics but i also came across debates that you dont need to go to film school. Well film school is just for connection i heard. Well nonetheless im still conflicted if i should go or pursue more opt career but nonetheless im still trying to make short film alone. Thanks this inspired me alot
I'm struggling making a 5 minute short or I'm failing a year-long course. A fiction/passion project. I got all but the drive- had months and months to do it and now got 4 weeks, tops. Impressive how you're doing it, when the more I try to think about my simple thing, the more I freeze up and get anxious.
@@elle7322 I ended up making something in 3 days (idea/shoot/edit) at home. It turned out okay. The two performers in it would prefer to have the video not public, tho.
a little bit of a constructive criticism here: i think if you're going to do a video on shooting a short film alone, you need an actual short film you shot alone as the example. You were not even slightly alone in this process, you had someone help with the scripts, the shots, the voice acting, etc, pretty much the entire process. I don't think this is the best example to use to show aspiring filmmakers that you can shoot a short film alone, I'm sorry :( I have no doubt that you can, but this was not the example to use.
Hey Charlie, i totally understand, thanks for pointing out to me, you're right to a certain extent. If you do want to take a look at some of the short films I've shot by myself they are all on my youtube, all of my short films except for this one was shot by me but I'vr made content about those before and wanted to bring something new to the table, therefore using my latest short film. Neverthelss, you're right. Thanks so. much for the heads up, I'll definitely take this into account next time.(Btw most of the shots in this video were shot by me, only some like the handheld ones were by Lewis)
i am in my last senior year and we just finished a short film for our school project and I am one of the directors and wrote the main plot of our story. that inspire me to create a film of my own, then I found this. thank you so much!
You're the reason why i took digital film production additional course this semester , i also wanna create my own film and thanks for the inspiration, also to mention i have been your fan since you posted your first video or second i dont clearly remember but yes i still love your content a LOTTTTTT
Glad it was helpful! :) I carry a super cheap tripod with me around becasue it’s light so the one I’m using in this video was literally like 20-30 bucks on Amazon

This video offers additional inspiration by showing that practice makes perfect. I've followed your work for a long time, you keep making cool videos, and they keep getting better. I'm looking forward to seeing how your skills continue to progress even further, because they're already very legit. Also, I teach high school digital media classes in Thailand, so it's cool to have someone my female students can relate to since I don't have many references for younger asian female filmmakers to show them.
