Thank you, thank you, thank you. A reviewer that actually knows all of the watch's functions, and gives all the dimensions at the beginning. So many other reviewers would take 2 to 3 times longer to provide the same information, and force their life story on the poor unsuspecting viewer. Great job.
Ok after watching your vid I'm upgrading tonight from my PRG-330 to the PRW-30. The ability to not use an adapter alone for different strps is worth the price of admission. Plus I love the metal bezzel look much over the black plastic of the PRG-330. Only downside is you can get the 330 for such a great price. The black version is such a steal for an ABC solar watch.
How do you view the current altitude? What does the barometer function look like? How do you use the compass? How long to charge the battery fully? How does it know sunrise and sunset at your location, do you manually enter longitude and latitude?
If it has the Atomic Clock adjustment function, this watch will receive the local time/timezone. This can be used combined with the Date to check what time Sunset and Sunrise should be. So the Sunrise/set is stored on the device and the Atomic time reception (Time-Zone) will say what it should be.
Made in Thailand but I buy it at the imported price tag. PRG-30 seems an optimal price without unnecessary auto time adjustment but the PRW-30 looks nicer.
Well i got mine and after a few months now I still love it. If I had 1 grip I wish that they upgraded the display to the mip one you find on their gbx-100 and gbd-200. I just picked up the gbx-100 and that display is fantastic. Those watches would be a complete win IF they were Solar so this protrek is still the winner in my book. I LOVE the prw-30 Protrek. I put it on an extra long dark green suede strap and I wear it allot. I don't see it ever leaving my collection and its in my weekly rotation still. I really want the prw-60t titanium after wearing this watch too. What casio has done with the lugs and reduced sizes of this new range is fantastic and I defiantly want a full "metal" protrek now.
Have had mine for almost half a year now. Wearing it on 23mm NATO strap - was hard to find, but 24mm works ok if you only find that, can jam it through with a tiny bit of force, done that on my PRW50 analog, and it worked great. Very utilitarian watch. Finding I use the compass far more than I thought I would. Even in city environments I no longer have to "trust my sense of direction" when going somewhere (often wrong) and can just check instead. Saves phone battery and takes away the mental load of pulling out phone from pocket to do a full map check. The fixed compass index markings are, in my opinion, far from meaningless which some tend to claim. They are a great mnemonic. With them in front of you, you can see which direction is where on a normally directed map, without thinking at all. Visibility in poor light is worse than an ana-digi watch like my PRW50; most other things are more practical on this one. Hope it lasts for long. It feels very well built.
Mine arrived yesterday and I'm happy i bought this prw30 instead of the new prw35 because i have big wrists and the prw35 is smaller so on my wrist it would have looked as if I was wearing a children's or women's watch 😅, also for me one strap keeper is enough because i don't have much excess strap left ( 4cm) so the prw30 sits nice on my wrist, i also have the prg340t and even that watch doesn't look to bulky on my wrist and that's a big 53mm watch
Bought just this one as my old ProTrek was giving problems after 12years. As the wristband was integrated and seems with this one you can replace it easier. Hope it with be better as well with spending time in freezing water as the old one often went blank on the display but recovered after an hour. Anyway good watches....
Hi would you recommend the prw-30 or the “new” 35? I’m thinking of getting the 30 because I don’t like the new resin back of casio but what do you think? Thanks
i think this is the only english review online - but heck you were really good at showing the mechanical details ! so good that you convinced me to buy my first ABC watch ;) PRW-30-1AER as we only have these in my shithole eastern europe country, wish we had access to nicer colours
Well I found one on ebay for a decent price of $291 cad witch is a little cheaper than the Sakura watches price of $330 CAD. Damn I wish Casio released these to the North American market. Once it doesn't have a bloody JDM number you can actually find deals. Oh well I'm excited but it took over 2 weeks just to ship....😑...lets hope its as nice as my wrist as I'm hoping. I love my Gshocks but Protreks just plain wear better on the wrist....if you have large enough wrists for them. 😅😅
The product images show sth like a seconds indicator around the outer ring (from 0 to 40 seconds). In all the reviews I did not see those display segments active. Also I did not find anything in the manual. What do those dots display?
Just got my PRW-30Y 3DR today. A little smaller than anticipated. But looks as complicated as those Garmins which cost 3 times the price. Mine has a black plastic buckle which kinda dissapointed me. But overall, wanting a watch withOUT a GPS so they don't track me, this is the next best thing. Can they track your position with the atomic clock feature? Perhaps in your next video you can talk about how to calibrate the compass. Thanks
"They" normally can't track you with a normal GPS; it's only a receiver, not a transmitter. Less privacy inclined smartwatches may pump your visited locations anywhere and everywhere the moment they get an Internet connection though. The atomic clock feature could be tracked with a resonant circuit detector at close range, but it would only be visible as a generic receiver, no way of knowing whose it is.
Hi. I am torn between these two models Prw 30 and prw 35 which is better? Or they're both the same in terms of functionality, durability and reliabilty? Tia
@@marlonsalugao6272 I am in the same situation as you and trying to decide between these two. The size differences are not big. I think I like the looks of prw30 a tiny bit more.
@@tomsterr1904 I ordered the PRE-30 model today. For me, the design is a class higher and I believe more material in this watch. The weight is still perfect. I hope I did well.

The PRW30Y with a negative display is fantastic. The only issue for me was the visibility is still a little low and there is a green tint to it. I ended up returning it for the positive version.

The digital way to present the information shines here definitely. Very utilitarian design and implementation of the functions. Thanks for sharing!

THe PRW30-5 I think is a nicer looking model as the orange accents on the buttons are white instead and the orange face dividers are grey.
Is this huge compared to a Casio Square? I have small wrists.

Can it be used for a 10-20m freediving/snorkeling session in salt water? Once it's a 10bar resistance.
It would hold up but I would use a divers watch for that.

Protrek PRW-30 40mm vs Garmin Instinct 2S 40mm? Several weeks reading and I just can’t choose between’em. Both solar and awesome.
