    • @winstonsmith11
      @winstonsmith11 2 года назад +6

      I used to shoot free throws alone at my house as a kid. I'd shoot sets of 10, keeping track of my makes. 7/10, 8/10, etc. The first 10, I was Kobe. The 2nd 10, I was AI. Then Marbury, Gary Payton, Grant Hill, and so on. I'd repeat this for hours. I always tried a little bit harder when I was Kobe or Iverson. Maybe because even then, I knew that they competed the hardest and I wanted to emulate that. They were my heroes. That was a big part of my childhood. I can only imagine some kid out there is doing the same thing rn but with Curry, KD, Bron, Dame, Book, Ja, or whoever else they look up to.

The media agenda against him over the years has no doubt played a part in infiltrating people's minds with BS subconsciously. He played in a stacked West for 20 years and changed pau gasol into the player he ended up being (as Paul pierce said). Not many top players would've won 2 rings with that lakers side. The man was different. As Roy Jones said "Y'ALL MUST'VE FORGOT". Or as Kevin Durant Said "MJ is 1A and Kobe is 1B" then its the rest. Rest in peace Kob. You're missed down here.

    You can tell this really hurts Iverson deeply. They both competed and gave their max against each other, and that alone created this bond that it will always stay with him. That the impact Kobe’s legacy had with so many, it got to the deepest core and root of so many of them, and that goes way beyond all the talent, an achievement so few get to achieve.

      Kobe might just be the most skilled nba basketball player ever even more skilled then MJ. Now I didn’t say better I said skill wise if he not then it’s MJ 1A Kobe 1B . Everyone wanted to be trained by Kobe : kyrie , Tatum , kawhi , etc... everyone wanted to pick his brain wanted his training abs work ethic. MJ created air Jordan Kobe Manama a mentality. He was the only nba player if not sport figure ever to touch so many different sports worldwide ppl had no idea how powerful and influential this guy was across all sports no other athletes from any sports was like that. I would say no other actor even when Mike Jackson died it didn’t have that impact. ppl always thought Kobe was never going to die like he was immortal it wasn’t even a question. This guy was doing trust fund not just for nba player but all athletes across sports to help. This guy literally was the mouth piece for WNBA when ppl ridiculed it. Brother spoke more language then Harvard students. he want just a master but also a student of the game. He wasn’t given nothing he wasn’t handed a team at 18 he had to work from the bench to where he wanted to go. Ppl like then hated then liked him. He didn’t give a flying fuck. He went through his fair share of trouble and rises above. Great father great man. No other nba player will have close of that impact. I grew up in LA born and raised so I got to Watch pretty much every Kobe game, this was before League Pass so no one understands the way we feel about this man. Kobe IS LA! So when we went up against the Sixers in the Finals I hated AI because I was so much of a Kobe fan, it’s because the dude was his Kryptonite in those years. Luckily we had a squad because that series would’ve been different, the Lakers only lost 1 game in the playoffs that year(NBA Record), and AI handed us that L. Over the years I started to Respect him for everything he did for the culture of Basketball. This man is by far the most influential player to Basketball Culture! If you look around the league right now everybody wear Sleeves and have Tats, AI started that. Like Jack said, let’s give this man his flowers while he’s still here. Respect ✊🏾

    It's interesting to hear one of my all time favorite ball players speak on my other favorite all time ball player and that AI wishes he kept up a relationship with Kobe because he could have used that kind of energy around him. The dichotomy also in the story where they're hanging out and AI says "I'm going to the club, where you headed" and Kobe's reply "I'm going to the gym"......if that doesn't show you the starting point of where those two careers eventually took off from...nothing will. AI would and should have been a multiple championship winner with his drive and talent.
