So, I guess alignment of the emulsion tube sleeve is not critical and the orofices on the sleeve and tube doesn't need to align? I noticed on older rebuilds that there's a tab on the sleeves which slide into a channel to prohibit rotation and misalignment. Anyway, all this becaue i tore down my 2GC to troubleshoot off-idle/throttle tip-in sputter, thinking that misalignment may be the issue.

Is there an adjustment for the vacuum power piston?
If the vacuum power piston is in the down position, (when the carburetor is fully assembled) (pressing down on the power valve in the no run, no vacuum position) does that mean with the power valve open, the gas in the bowl can flow out of the carburetor and into the intake manifold when the car is sitting without running for weeks? I ask this question because when I do not use the car for weeks or longer, I have to crank the engine so the carburetor fills up with gas before it starts. It does not bother me because it gives the engine to build up oil pressure before starting.
How can you test it the vacuum power piston is working?
1970 350-V8 has a aluminum plate between the manifold and the carburetor, I believe it is to slow down the heat so it does not cause vapor lock, best guess without seeing it.
In saying that, do you think the heat is evaporating the gas in the bowl when sitting in the off position?
    Thanks,
    David

Hey Mike. Great carb video. You really helped me out. I really haven't done anything like this before, but I want to learn everything that I can. I am rebuilding a Rochester 2 barrel carb similar to the one you are doing in this video. Mine doesn't have the choke on the side of the carb. There are no numbers on mine so I really don't know anything about the card. I was told it came out of a 1968 Camaro. ??? You mentioned the check ball in the main discharge. Do all carbs have one? I was following you along and when I got to this part in your video, I didn't have any check balls in either hole. Should I put one in the main discharge? I got this carb from a friend and I think it was rebuilt before and maybe it got lost. I am just guessing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for sharing.

Great videos. I have purchased the rebuild kit, the thermostat and vacuum actuator from you and am completing assembly, but my 2gc does not have a piston inside the thermostat housing that you show in this video starting at 34:00. Does that mean someone left it our of a previous rebuild or is it not needed if there is an external vacuum actuated chocke unit that opens the choke plate under vacuum? If I need one it would be the exact unit you show getting installed at the 34 minute mark, plus any screws or tubes inside the housing to plumb it. Any help? What does that piston do?

I figured out what the problem was. I took the top off the front carb to see what kept the ball from coming out. After a quick inspection i realized that the springs where reversed on the accelerator pump, the smaller diameter spring should go into the bore with the pump on top of it.

Hi Mike, I purchased from you before and have been quite satisfied with your products but I need your advice, I have this same carburetor as you are rebuilding in this video and I am still having a hesitation problem, I can move the throttle and fuel is squirting out the accelerator pump discharge holes (I'm unsure of the technical name for them but either way it seems to be working properly) but while it's on the truck, it still bogs if I just hit the gas like a normal person, I have to hit the gas 3 or 4 time to get it to catch and not die while accelerating. if I'm at speed though I can mat it and it will do great, however from a stop if I mat it, it hesitates and unless I let off and mat it like 3 or 4 times afterwards it will die.
    any suggestions??
(P.S. It revvs great while the choke is on)
