There's a AU$ 350 price difference between the two in Australia even after the price drop for the S21 ultra. So I don't really mind the difference. Also, I prefer the stock android experience. I have stuck with OnePlus for the past 5 years but now I think it's Google for me since OnePlus is a lot talk only now. Btw, watched your live stream on Pixel devices and subscribed. One half of a second is not a big deal. The beauty of Android is, when you pair a smartwatch you have the option to save it as a trusted device. You can then set your phone to always be unlocked when you're wearing your smartwatch. Also, due to the embedded AI and machine learning the fingerprint reader does improve overtime. There may have been patent issues related to some of the new tech on the Pixel 6. I also do not believe Google wanted any Qualcomm tech on the Pixel 6.
Awesome comparison, I really wish Google had gone with the faster finger print scanner, I add my finger print twice to make it fast and more accurate and so far it seems to work well.

@@LoverOfTech the S10 scanner was very good, it was only bad the first few months, and even then wasn't a problem for me at all. By the time I traded it in it never missed (unless I physically missed the spot). The move from that to the S21U was like going from 1 and a half beats to just a beat now. If that makes sense. The accuracy is the same in my experience (2 years with the S10 and S21U since launch)

My Pixel 5, fingerprint reader on the rear, unlocks instantaneously, much like your demo of the onscreen ultrasonic demo. I do prefer the scanner on the back of the phone. I've scanned two fingers, vs my thumb, which is possible with the scanner on the rear. The redesign expectation seems to be how you are holding the phone and placing your thumb on the screen.
The finger print scanner on my pixel 6 is shocking, and after a glass screen protector it wouldn't work at all. Starting to regret buying my pixel 6 🙄 it's a good job the rest is flawless
The Pixel 6 Pro looks like it has less bottom chin bezels than the S21 Ultra. Or am I wrong? The S21 Ultra has the advantage with a bigger sensor and with the screen turned off to unlock.
Same here Team VRY, but I'm going to try saving the same finger multiple times. I also have screen sensitivity turned on. I still haven't got the day 1 update so hopefully that improves it as well. I'm on Verizon so they may lag on the monthly security patch. We'll see by Monday! ✌️👍🤙

Ouch, when I compare this with the face recognition via radar sensors of the Pixel 4. What a step backwards... I don't trust face recognition via a photosensor one bit...
The rear fingerprint was 100 times better.. works everytime and you could swipe notifications with it.. I aint got time to be faffing around with the on screen version... esp with a screen protector installed.
I had hands on with the 6 pro today in store and compared to my s21 ultra. That camera, although marginal I could see the difference. Can't wait to get it I guess by the 5th. Fyi the face recognition on the s21 ultra can't compare to the 4xl I have.
That’s because the 4xl uses basically the same Face ID as iPhone….not just using the camera to recognise your face….it has a much more sophisticated facial recognition.

even my iphone 7 is almost as fast as the s21 Ultra ..... Im about to buy a new phone and the pixel pro was my biggest hope. Of course the fingerprint is not the reason that destroyed it for me.
I would rather have the fingerprint on the power button-the latest update and very inconsistent. I added and re-added multiple times my fingerprint but still not great. With the pixel, you need to press harder too.
My s21ultra fingerprint scanner use to work like crap. I had to register twice. It worked better and got better over the months. it still misses more then I like but it's cool
For anyone having issues with their sensor failing it can be fixed by registering the same multiple times. I recently registered the same finger 4 times and the sensor is so much more accurate now. Also if you add a screen protector delete your old fingerprints and registered the same finger as many times as possible.
On my Google Pixel 6 with my screen protector on, it struggles to read my fingerprint so I'm not sure if it's going to happens with all screen protectors or just mine. But that something to keep in mind that if you're going to be using a screen protector on the Google Pixel 6
I mean just look at the difference. Night and day! Even after the "update" everyone is talking about, it's slow AF for me. Not great to be honest. OnePlus 9 Pro used optical too but was closer in speed to the S21U than it was to the Pixel. Shane, hope further updates improve things on the Pixel.

The Samsung one is clearly better, but damn the Pixel's lock unlock animations look sooooo freaking nice!

Accuracy is all good as shown but it's just a 0.5 sec slower and due to the fact it is optical, it needs light

P6Pro has bigger chin and you are seeing the Shadow of S21ULTRA on bottom chin.
its not about half second! Its about having to repeat 3-4-5 times as it JUST DOESNT WORK no matter you keep it half a second or 2 seconds.

Both the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have accurate scanners, they are just half a second slower that's all really

The one on the Oneplus 6t always worked well on my device. Not to mention the face unlock was really good and accurate.

How does pixel 6 behave when the screen gets a lot of sun?
