Maybe no one has pointed it out, but I noticed it. You guys have spent a lot of effort and time researching Japanese pronunciation. When we Japanese people listen to foreigners sing Japanese songs, we have given up trying to hear pronunciations that are close to the correct Japanese pronunciation. But you guys did it almost perfectly. This may not be noticeable, but it is a great compliment. At least know that there are Japanese people here who understand your passion. Borabo.
I am looking forward to Anuna's concert in Japan. As you know, the singer of Princess Mononoke is Yoshikazu Mera. Mr. Mera's work is good, but I think Anuna is the one who made it into a song full of elegance like a hymn. Thank you for your wonderful singing voice!
Just unbelievable.... Such a feeling, that, when i listened this: trees, grass, earth, all the nature sang with this woman... Thank you so much for this feelings!!!

I heard this rendition randomly on Spotify the other day. I was entirely entranced by it. Great cover! So beautiful. I'm no expert in the Japanese language, but I sincerely thought it was a native speaker when I first heard it. Thank you for this!
I can tell it's not native singing right away, but that's' because I know a bit of Japanese and I watch a lot of anime lol 😂 but it's really well sung. Love this to bits.
Thank you for uploading such a beautiful video!
When two of the most beautiful things come together and create something stunning; thank you Anuna and Michael McGlynn for this awesome rendition of one of Joe Hisashi's more haunting songs. ;)
I saw "Nodojiman THE World"! 🙌 Congratulations to everyone in the Anuna choir ☺️ A beautiful singing voice and a clear voice resonated in my heart. Please continue to touch Japanese songs! Thank you for the impression💓
oh, this is lovely! stunningly good pronunciation (and crooning!) from the soloist as well. I'm very much impressed and I hope to see more japanese songs from anuna! I bet you could do an amazing rendition of teru no uta from gedo senki/tales from earthsea, for instance.
+tiffany aching If you check out our album Revelation, just released in japan, you will see we have recorded Sakura as well - very unusual arrangement too. As for other material from anime - yes we would love to, but we actually have had minimal interest shown in this piece from Japan itself. Loads from Europe and America!
***** i'll be buying it for sure! as for the low interest in this from japan - hmm. i don't live there anymore, but at a guess i would say that this song is perhaps just a little too obscure and old-fashioned for it to resonate much with current japanese tastes. i'm not saying it's not good or beloved - it just doesn't strike that perfect balance between traditional and modern that a group like yours would need to achieve at this point in time. you might consider doing an enka song of some kind, or.... OOH! one of the soundtrack pieces from puella magi madoka magica! i could easily see an anuna rendition of "sis puella magica!" (or even a medley of choice selections from the soundtrack) going viral. there are also vocaloid songs that you could rework to sound more acoustic and traditional - "senbonzakura" might be a good candidate; there's already been a very popular cover of it by wagakki band that combines traditional japanese vocals and instruments with western rock. listening to their version might give you some ideas. basically, if you want more people in japan to see your work, you'd probably do better to aim at the nerdy 2chan crowd lol. and be sure to upload your videos on nico nico douga if you can! anyway, sorry for posting such a long rant! i just suddenly thought of all these ideas and i couldn't help but share them, haha. whether you all decide to do more japanese songs or not, i'll definitely continue to support you!
***** here are a few songs i can think of right now that might actually fit your style, or are at least possible candidates for being adapted to your style: 1. sis puella magica! by kajiura yuki 2. credens justitiam by kajiura yuki 3. jupiter by ayaka hirahara 4. passion/sanctuary by utada hikaru 5. senbonzakura by hatsune miku (look into the wagakki band cover as well) 6. tell me what the rain knows by sakamoto maaya 7. one summer's day (from "spirited away") by joe hisaishi - the version featuring ayaka hirahara 8. zankoku na tenshi no these (a cruel angel's thesis) by takahashi yoko - this is definitely a pop song, but i feel like you could pretty easily rework it into something haunting and gothic 9. teru no uta (therru's song) by aoi teshima 10. arrietty's song and the neglected garden from "the secret world of arrietty". honestly literally ANYTHING from that soundtrack would work so well. it was quite popular in japan and i think the soundtrack, written and performed by young french harpist and singer cecile corbel, is just lovely. note that the kajiura yuki songs do not have lyrics in japanese - i think there's a pop remix of credens justitiam in one of the madoka movies that has rewritten japanese lyrics, but the original, like many of kajiura's songs, is written in a made-up language. it's a nonsense mixture of english, french, and latin, or something to that effect. you could probably write your own lyrics for them in gaelic if you wanted to. i hope that's helpful! i can't think of many more as it's quite late here in america. these are all modern anime songs - i don't know too many enka songs offhand, but if you go digging around you might find some you like.
How did I miss two of my favorite musical geniuses combined??? Please please do more!!! The Sixth Station from Spirited Away would be mindblowing with Anuna at the helm. 🥰
Not really. Sakura Sakura is modal - and that's the only connection really. Japanese traditional music and philosophy formed the basis of this arrangement.

I actually prefer this to the original. It sounds more ethereal. But the original is good in a more haunting way.
