There is no physical Irishness. People who live here are Irish. And those that lived somewhere else and moved here are also Irish based on the idea that all of us are blow-ins at some stage in history. I have lived here all my life and this music was not part of my psyche. Music transcends nationality and is a greater expression of humanity than nationality. Love music and love where you live.
Learning Gaelic has opened my eyes and heart for the appreciation for songs like this. No matter how hard you try to understand its all about feeling the emotion of pieces like this. Which is, in my opinion lacking these days in any style of music
I love Gaelic. There are songs on RUclips in Gaelic with English subtitles. I sing them in Gaelic but love understanding them. I feel my heritage through the songs!
OMG! Where has this hidden gem been!?!?!? What an amazing interpretation and performance. Every nuance, change, just adds more to the story this music is telling... absolurly breathtaking! New Zealand love... 🇳🇿
But it is Art. Sorry. Even if we say so ourselves - anything created in the way Anúna is can't really be defined in any other way. In this case you have the art of the soloist, a form of singing that has been passed down through hundreds of years. That is then superimposed on an arrangement that enhances the original in unexpected ways. If it isn't art, then what is it?
Nicholas Jordan may I have messed something up with my bad english... but what is bad on calling this video "art"? all i wanted to say was: Anuna's channel is too awesome and deserve lots of more subscibers :)
Eabha is just SO beautiful! I'm a huge fan of Celtic Woman and her addition to the group has been well received by us fans. I got to meet her after their last show in my town and find that she is very sweet and friendly and seems to enjoy meeting fans.
I am American and I love Anuna! Her voice reminds me how the Native Americans sing in their songs. There is something pure, earthly, and grounding about her voice. I absolutely love Gaelic as well! Indigenous peoples of 2 different lands but similar!
If there is a more beautiful woman, I've never seen her. If there is more beautiful music, I've never heard it. If there is a more moving experience, I've never felt it.
Is' an amhrán is fearr liomsa freisin. Ba mhaith liom a labhairt Gaeilge gach lá féin. Ar ceol sean-nós is fearr ná Irish song i nGaeilge ❣️🍀 sílim go bhfuil mé an cheart agamsa
It's been 4 years since I last visited your channel. Listening to these pieces as if I'd never heard them before makes me smile just like I probably did 4 years ago.
[Verse 1] Ó crá ort, a shagairt Uí Domhnaill Nach dona go deo mar a d'imigh tú Ó léigh sé an tAifreann Dé Domhnaigh 's bhí sé maidin Dé Luan ina mhinistir [Chorus] Ó fill, ó fill a rún ó Fill a rún ó Is ná h’imigh uaim Ó Fill orm a chuisle ‘s a stóirín Ó is gheo-ghaidh tú an ghlóir má fhillean tú [Verse 2] Dá bheic-feadh sibh Neilí Dé Dómhaigh 'S a gúna bhán go sala uirthi Búclai buí in a bróga 's í á tarraingt sa ród mar phúca [Chorus] Ó fill, ó fill a rún ó Fill a rún ó Is ná h’imigh uaim Ó Fill orm a chuisle ‘s a stóirín Ó is gheo-ghaidh tú an ghlóir má fhillean tú [Verse 3] Tá malacht na sagart 's na mbráithre leat I do mhála ag imeacht duit 'S nach measa duit malacht do mháthartha Ná á bhaca tú aIríamh den bhunadh sin [Chorus] Ó fill, ó fill a rún ó Fill a rún ó Is ná h’imigh uaim Ó Fill orm a chuisle ‘s a stóirín Ó is gheo-ghaidh tú an ghlóir má fhillean tú Verse 4 Ó thréigh tú Peadar is Pól, agus Thréigh tú Eoin is an bhunadh sin Ó thréigh tú an Mhaighdeán ’s an ghlóir, is Nach dona go deo mar a d'imigh tú [Chorus] Ó fill, ó fill a rún ó Fill a rún ó Is ná h’imigh uaim Ó Fill orm a chuisle ‘s a stóirín Ó is gheo-ghaidh tú an ghlóir má fhillean tú
I got to see you twice when I was living in Dublin, at St. Bartholomew's, during the christmas concerts. It was the very best that happened in those dark years of mine. I wish I could have heard this awesome masterpiece back then, in there. Éabha's voice is haunting, so are the rest. Simply moving, deep, meaningful *how I wish I was there again*. My body moved, but part of my heart remains there. Thank you for so many years of beauty.
The most painful and also the most beautiful song I have ever listened to so far in my life. I'd definitely would like to learn Irish properly just to be able to sing along with her. I'm so glad we could still get to art. I'm speechless.
to me as a poetess, the simplest words are usually the most difficult ones, and the feeling they bring is what elevates them to poetry. this kind of singing is just that, another proof that often beauty is the ability to transform something complex into something that seems so easy and simple. stunning.
So my choir teacher played your song for our class, everyone loved it in all her classes. A friend of mine actually had to get tissues because he loved it.
Her voice is unique among CW members and contralto singers on her level of quality are rare. Her solo work is also impressive, check out her version of Auld Lang Syne. Easily the best ever released. She had a difficult role to fill, because she had to replace Lisa Lambe and Lisa is a living legend. Eabha did surprisingly well.
Truly a majestic, harmonizing group, with haunting voices which reverberate the ears and let loose the angst which drowns one's being. Absolutely splendid work. I have heard Enya, Celtic Women, and even Aoife Ni Fherraigh...and now I have to extend this love to you guys, as the Celtic heart remains strong.
Been a listener of yours since the 90s. My birds have been as well. Every time I turn this on they snuggle up to me and relax. No better compliment than the animal kingdom approving.
I'm on a binge of your channel and everything you guys sing is so beautiful. Doesn't matter if it's native tongue or another. I'm floored. I miss my voice.
This song has made me feel so touched in ways beyond my own spirit can know. My heart cries out for this much love. In a song beyond understanding in a time when love was rare and people were willing but no one knew much more than to sing "Beauty in the Mist by the Bay"...
This is my favorite song from Anuna. I have listened to this and been in tears from it for years now. Thank you. It is truly beautiful and otherworldly, just like the language and place it is from. ❤
I do not say it lightly, in fact VERY rarely. But she has such a beautiful voice and its such a beautiful composition..i really am shivery. I have chills and i feel like crying.. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰😘🥰😘🥰😘🥰😘🥰😍🥰😍🥰😍🥰😍😍🥰😍🥰😍🥰😍🥰 Absolutely incredible..xxxx
My surname may be Italian, but by blood I am mostly Irish These Irish eyes.... are weeping for the beauty of this piece. Grateful to God that I have ears that work.... that I might ingest it well.
Can't help but think that the natural enviroment had a big influence in the writing of this stunning piece. No one from Barbados or Benidorm would ever concieve of something like this
The chord change at 2:39 is unexpected and lovely. Secondly, Éabha McMahon's very final expression, in the very last second is strikingly, authentically grief-filled. Thank you.
I prefer the chord change at 03:58 where you get the clash between the 5th of the chord in the 2nd Tenor/Baritone part and the minor 6th in the melody. All about dem chromatic harmonies innit.
What you mean is that you like this piece more than you like anything else we have done before that you have heard of the 17 albums we have released since 1993. Its a lovely piece very well sung by the soloist, but definitely not the best piece of sean nos that I know, and definitely not the best song :-)
I have loved the beautiful and haunting music of anuna since I saw them performing in the show “Riverdance”. I have several of their albums, and I never tire of listening to the group.
Such an emotional song that really puts your thoughts into perspective. Have to agree with +Bridget Shea Wardstone, in tears but can't understand why. The harmonies and soft sounds are so gripping.
Wow, I'm literally in tears, this is so beautiful! Éabha is one of my new favorite voices! Her voice kind of reminds me of Órla Fallon's. Any chance of lyrics and a translation? :3 Anúna, you guys never cease to amaze me.
I am 95% Irish and just listening to this makes me prouder then I already was of being Irish.
There is no physical Irishness. People who live here are Irish. Is maith liom Gaeilge freisin. :)
How can we translate it? Is there a glossary or dictionary.
Eabha has a voice that is haunting and beautiful at the same time
Akil Das I am a soprano but I hear songs like this and wish I was an alto.
Éabha has a stunning voice
agreed... that voice represents reality itself
Voice of an Angel
Qwerty Man weird man
"Where words fail, music speaks." ~Hans Christian Anderson.
I connect to and am comforted by your music. Thank you.
It's actually Andersen, but yeah, she is amazing.
I don't know how I ended up finding this but thank you god.
I've always said, that the human voice is the best musical instrument. I still have no reason to believe otherwise.
I wish my parents had thought so.
OMG! Where has this hidden gem been!?!?!? What an amazing interpretation and performance. Every nuance, change, just adds more to the story this music is telling... absolurly breathtaking! New Zealand love... 🇳🇿
can't understand why this channel has only 7k subs... it should have like a million at least. world needs more of this kind of art.
You had me until you said the word art.
Oh. You have 3k subs. Don't worry... None of us think you compare.
But it is Art. Sorry. Even if we say so ourselves - anything created in the way Anúna is can't really be defined in any other way. and anuna, your music is not just "art". it is flawless art. some of the finest music we can hear =)
Eabha is just SO beautiful! I'm a huge fan of Celtic Woman and her addition to the group has been well received by us fans. I got to meet her after their last show in my town and find that she is very sweet and friendly and seems to enjoy meeting fans.
i liked her voice too it was so deep and haunting!!
Beautiful girl, haunting, incredible, astonishing voice. What an angel Eabha is. 😊
I agree. Sometimes I wonder if she's really a living person. :)
She makes me really wish I was an alto instead of a soprano. Eabha is one of my absolute favorite of the Celtic woman girls!
There's no mistaking her! Thank you so much Éabha. Flowers 💐to all of you, from Lisbon 🇵🇹
I am American and I love Anuna! Her voice reminds me how the Native Americans sing in their songs. There is something pure, earthly, and grounding about her voice. I absolutely love Gaelic as well! Indigenous peoples of 2 different lands but similar!
Now if they’d only put that Indian back on the Land O Lakes box…
We need songs like this to heal the world, otherwise I am afraid it is going to implode. mad as a bucket of frogs 💓
You convinced me with the frogs.
If there is a more beautiful woman, I've never seen her. If there is more beautiful music, I've never heard it. If there is a more moving experience, I've never felt it.
Wonderful comment!
We used to sing this for feiseanna in secondary school. Haven’t heard it sung since then. Beautiful version.

Thank you so much, this is better for me as I don't know Irish, so I translate the text for Portuguese. It's a kind of you. Lisbon 🇵🇹 Rgds
Makes my heart break for the beauty of her voice

+Marta Prieto Thank you Marta.
What a unique voice and does Eabha have. It feels like the song is written especially for her. I'm very glad I bought the album. :-)
The most painful and also the most beautiful song I have ever listened to so far in my life. I'd definitely would like to learn Irish properly just to be able to sing along with her. I'm so glad we could still get to art. I'm speechless.
WOW! I hear so many similarities to Swedish Traditional Music. Its amazing!
Thor's Blessings!
The melodic nature is not so far removed :-)
Me too!
This is absolutely amazing. I played this to calm my cousin down from a meltdown and it calmed her right down.
Wow...this took me to a place I have never been before but have always known. Beautiful
You have put that beautifully....our ancient collective soul knows the place very well.....we All know the place
If my book ever gets a movie deal, I want Anuna to do the soundtrack. This is beautiful!

I don't understand the word but the beautiful melody made me cry.
The words will make you cry too. This song is sorrow made into prayer.
i love this song i mean i am blown away she is so amazing one of the best young singer around today if you ask me.
I think Eabha is one of the best member of Celtic Woman in the range of Alto aside from Orla. She is a great singer. Very haunting and medieval.
Absolutely agree, there's no mistaking her. From Lisbon 🇵🇹

homesick once again for my fair fair battered Northern Ireland. may she find true peace one day
I just absolutely love Eabha's voice!! It has such a rich quality to it!
Been a listener of yours since the 90s. My birds have been as well. Every time I turn this on they snuggle up to me and relax. No better compliment than the animal kingdom approving.
that is the voice of an angel...one that is of beauty and haunting

You cry because you have an ancient soul
Eabha has a beautiful voice! Love her!

Ooooow. That is beautiful, but definitely an element of grief/woundedness there.
Beauty needs no words, a pure example right here.
I use it to put my kids to sleep. The music soothes them
I do not say it lightly, in fact VERY rarely. But she has such a beautiful voice and its such a beautiful composition..i really am shivery. I have chills and i feel like crying.. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰😘🥰😘🥰😘🥰😘🥰😍🥰😍🥰😍🥰😍😍🥰😍🥰😍🥰😍🥰

I see a mortal face, but hear the voice of an angel singing.
+Jesse Lynn Eabha is alive at the moment. As far as I know there are no angels on this track.
This has to be my favourite thing ever. Favourite song, favourite singer and favourite group! And a mighty fantastic arrangement!
She gives me hope for the new Celtic Women.
What a beautiful distraction from the winter blues; I've been to heaven for a while
My goodness what a mesmerizing voice!!!! Beautiful song.. amazing choir.

Such an emotional song that really puts your thoughts into perspective. Have to agree with +Bridget Shea Wardstone, in tears but can't understand why. The harmonies and soft sounds are so gripping.
I have no idea what the lyrics are but the song brought tears to my eyes immediately
Meravigliosa, tocca le corde dell'anima.

Aww, darn. Thank you anyway!
Очень красиво! Bravo!
Amazingly beautiful! I don't like the Celtic Women as before, but Eabah McMahon is an exception. How can you NOT love her voice?
