Great info! I successfully replaced my battery! Much easier than when I replaced a hard drive on my iBook ! Piece of Cake! Tho I did discover my laptop had the middle battery screw missing, no biggie. And I did end up with an extra? round piece with 4 holes in it. Which looked like the inside part for the rubber feet, none seemed to be missing.

I just installed a new battery in my 13 inch 2012 MacBook Pro. It was down to around 40% of capacity, and would only last about an hour off AC. Funny, the old battery had a "Do Not Remove Battery" warning on it. Now I've got a new battery, along with a new SSD drive replacing the old 5400 rpm drive, and 16 gigs of ram. Feels like a brand new computer now. Thanks for the tutorial.

I’m in almost the exact same situation. Swelled old battery, same macbook, and got a new battery. All steps worked okay, but the thing is when they took out the old battery they took away the three Y0 screws that secure the battery to the case.
As far as I can tell the lower case being screwed on doesn’t give the battery much wiggle room. What are the risks of not having those screws? Am I okay if I’m just extra careful with the laptop or should i really not use the laptop without those three screws?

I have an old 13 inch mac pro from 2010 that has signs of having an expanded battery , (and a pushed up track pad) I haven't used it in forever since I have a new model but I don't want to leave it in the house like that and would like to give it a new battery and it does have fam pictures on it that I don't want to just toss away. In your experience would it be to dangerous to change?

Now i gave this macbook to my gf and she wants to replace the battery. Here's the issue, hope you can help me: the power button doesnt seen to work, the way I turn the computer on is by attaching the power cable. After using i turn off the system in the regular way, but to turn on i cant press the power button, i have to unplug and plug back again the cable. I guess that if i just get a new battery it may be useless without the power button, but i also hope that the power button issue may be conected with the absence of the battery and when i get a new one it will work again. Any clue? Thank you anyway!

Why does your Macbook actually have a grey bootup screen? Mine is black like on iPhone. Is there a way to change this? Because I like the grey one better

It depends on the version you’re on.

Just find a good quality battery from a seller that sells computer or mobile phone parts.
Otherwise the other sellers just buy the cheapest ones and resell just to make as much profit as possible.
Try buy oem if you have the money if not aftermarkets are fine.

Anybody know what would cause a weird stinky chemical sort of smell to come from my MBP mid-2012? I tried cleaning out the fans and everything and it still smells... It's so weird!!

    Hello brother,
My Macbook Pro 13 inch (mid 2012) sleep immediately I plug out the power source and it will not on again until I plug in the power, when I plug in the charger, it usually switch on by it self. I try different method such as:
Resetting SMC, PRAM reset. I remove the battery and plug it in again. I finally loose the mother board and fix it back thinking it might resolve the issue but still no result.
Please can you help me check out the issue?
By the way I'm running Catalina
    Thank u in advance!

    • @Chrisss98

    • @titusfrancis1342
      @titusfrancis1342 5 лет назад

battery cycle count is recorded on the battery itself not on the system.

Remember that you have to calibrate it and an SMC reset isn't a bad idea on the first boot after replacement.

I miss the unibody macbook pro's so easy to upgrade ram, hard drive, and battery I do wish Apple would let us at least upgrade the ram and ssd instead of being greedy pigs

I've heard that the ideal charge range for lithium ion batteries is 80-20%. I used to run a program that would turn off A/C when charge got to 80%, then let the battery discharge to 20% before charging again. Do some research, but mine suggested that charging battery all the way to full continuously will hurt overall life. Not sure if this applies to running on A/C 24/7, but basically letting battery totally discharge to 0 and then going back to 100 daily I found not to be the best for long term life.

How do you upgrade ram on it? I was thinking of getting memory cards from OWC

    • @zollotech

If you see in this video, the RAM is just above the battery. All you do is pop it out and put the new RAM in
