4:45 Notice how even though the crowd is really partisan for Makin, they still cheer at Elias’ classy winners? That’s what happens when a culture isn’t completely obnoxious!
What are you trying to say? That Egyptian crowds are obnoxious? Americans dont care enough. Those are the only major locations for tournaments these days.
not quite the full story .. I was there and there was booing - never heard that before at a squash match. Sat through 8 quarter finals .. and this was the only one where there was booing. Not so pure.
7:37 In the same situations like here in match Cardenas vs NG, referee gave stroke for NG, although NG did not handle to return to the center in time after his badly played ball to the center and Cardenas hit the ball from the center. Why in the same situations referee makes such extremely different decisions?
Eh, that final play probably should have been a let. Diego hit a poor crosscourt and then Makin hit a poor shot right next to himself. I don't think it would have changed the outcome though.
Everything and everyone was against Elias... There was one point when he almost slipped and only them did the ref allow for court service. Sweat won the game honestly speaking
I thought he put his arm out to avoid falling, agree his first move was the wrong line but you're allowed to adjust, not sure if shouldn't have been a let especially as Makin didn't clear.
Haha always the way. I also become British when he’s winning and English when he’s not! Just kidding, Makin is awesome. I’d support him if he was bloody French!
Great match, great athmosphere. Yet, the refs couldn't restrain himself from getting a bit in the way and having to make a controversial decision by the end.

what an amazing venue for a squash tournament!
Yes, we went on Weds, great views from all seats!

Let's not be afraid to say it - that's what happens if a tournament is not in Egypt

@@SiatkowkarzadziEgyptians haven't got a whole lot of sporting prowess across the sporting world so i grant them some selfishness.

That is a big win for Makin he has certainly come along way
I was there last night four matches all great, great win for makin no prisoners taken with him, just gets on with the game👍😎🥳
A real man! Exactly the heroes we need in these times. Go Britttain!
Sweating Britain
that was so composed from Makin, never seen him that controlled
What an insane match! bloody hell.
Muita qualidade ! Golpes perfeitos , defesas inteligentes , uma. Verdadeira aula de squash
Focused. Man on a mission. Great result.
Brilliant play!
Wow good game Makin you are proving something here
Great match …well played Makin
Both outstanding players but glad to see Joel win on his home turf.
Congratulations to Joel. Huge concentration throughout. Surely the big beard is a disadvantage playing a sweating sport like squash?
It’s a Samson thing

and it is despite the fact that here the ball was played by Makin much less accurately than Cardenas played it
Well done, a good win !!
Great win for Makin and well-deserved. We all know what would've happened if it was Asal playing that last point🙂
What comments was Diego making about sweat during the game?
Elias is a fabulous player no doubt. But for ` WORLD CHAMPION to be so distracted by sweat and two conduct warnings is not the best example,,,,
That is AWESOME. well done @joelmakin

agree
It's a no let all day long. Lazy tired movement from Elias
Should have been a let for sure. If Makin was not there he would have easily got that ball back. Reffing is pretty bad
I think no let was the rich play. Diego made his own interference by wrapping his arm around Makin, and he swung at the ball.
No Let. Ball through the middle means Makin is perfectly entitled to play and stay.
Massive !!!
the last point is a let point...
It was a short but wide and loose shot i'd give it a stroke in that makin played it back on to himself and then obstructed Elias.
And there were those who said he could never beat Elias.
🏴

Good win although last point is a stroke with zero ambiguity.
good
the commentators should know that Spanish is the language spoken in Peru
Well done Joel!!
'This is Massive'... That's what she said
Of course not Let, Elias makes a feint to go forward but then realizes that he has made a mistake and takes Makin by the arm... brave refereeing
I thought he put his arm out to avoid falling, agree his first move was the wrong line but you're allowed to adjust, not sure if shouldn't have been a let especially as Makin didn't clear.
The actual winner was sweat.

British if he wins, Welsh if he loses? 😉

Over confident Elias met an athlete...Makin deserves this win.....
Rocky Sequel
Lind Row
Elias seemed bored today, like he didn't even wanna play Makin at all.
It was more the frustration and distraction of the floor / sweat spots that was getting to him. Really knocked his duck off.
Great match, great athmosphere. Yet, the refs couldn't restrain himself from getting a bit in the way and having to make a controversial decision by the end.
It is all about interference.
Exudes spoiled brat petulance no matter who he plays
Yao will beat him
Ng you mean?
He won't.....
