You make me LAUGH!! After 5 hours of my unsuccessful cell creation I needed the laugh. Thank you for all of your videos...I just found your channel today!! I hope your recipes will give me luck. You have beautiful paintings and have great ideas.!!
Awesome! You are the first person I've watched that has explained that the pillow should be the thickest layer, then graduating to thinner layers as you move up. Makes sense from a science standpoint. Can't wait to try that!
I’ll be darned, I’ve never seen ANYONE demonstrate the efficacy of the activator by the cells left on the stick after scraping it. Very cool!! I liked the cells created using the Artist Loft instead of house paint but think I do prefer the bigger cells. My main take aways from this is that I don’t HAVE to use Aussie floetrol and now know how to check my activator to see if the stuff will even give me results I like. THANK YOU SO MUCH! I definitely subscribed and am so glad to see a guy doing fluid art that I love. ❤
Love your energy! My understanding is that the mixed media girl pouring medium is simply glue and little bit of gloss medium. It’s super expensive to purchase it from her versus just making it yourself. Also, there have been a ton of alternate ingredient ideas out there for the bloom technique, but whenever I compare, finished results, the house paint, and Aussie floetrol ones always seem to look better.
Thanks for watching! I definitely feel where you are coming from with the Aussie flow. I have a couple blooms that side by side you cannot tell but definitely agree with you that the aussie/untinted is the best BUT I recognize its not available for everyone and ppl simply just eant options and I totally get that too haha. Nowwww I will say I am working on a new recipe that is very promising. So far it is producing some really great results. Much love to you! ❤️
Merci Garrick! Tu es formidable d’expérimenter et de partager tes trouvailles qui sont très utiles car c’est compliqué et très cher d’avoir du floetrol australien à Strasbourg. Merci😘👍💝
These are great!! Someone on a video I watched said they fax a friend who broke down the chemical composition of Australian Floetrol, and one of the ingredients was linseed oil. So you may be onto something by adding that to your cell activator either way they’re still very pretty.❤
@@GarrickBrownArtStudio I was thinking for better cell structure add more linseed oil because it improved the cell structure the first time! I would say go 5-10 drops at a time for more precision
Everyone came out stunning. Thank you for all the tips you gave. I’m glad to see you don’t need house paint or Australia floetrol. It’s so expensive. I love watching your channel always positive in all your pours. Thank you for sharing
Good Morning Garrick...... As always a pleasure to sit chilling watching your fantastic experience of breaking down different types & methods of products etc. Your Passion & commitment to all you do always brings me to your videos to learn more. Thank you so much. Yes that is where people get all confused. Find 1-2 artist and stick with them and their recipes until you got it and then explore more lol.
Greetings from the UK. Thank you for your great videos especially using alternative paints as we don't have the same.products available always. MORE VIDOES PLEASE!!
Hello Garrick, Another great video and class for all of us. I love your attitude, and wanting to help us out with alternative products. Thinking outside the box for sure. Thanks again 😊
You are more than welcome. I miss making this kind of content... but the feedback is evident I need to do more and show the ideas that swirl in my head.
Have you tried putting the MinWax into a 4 oz bottle with a push pull top? Doing this would probably mean recalculating the quantity of MinWax as the drops would likely be bigger But the bonus is you wouldn’t have to breath the fumes
You should be in a Nut Gallery House because only a crazy person can create such beautiful art like you do so simply. You're a genuis and so easy to listen to and I do have an Art degree and everyone says I'm nuts...most artist are a little bit crazy, but the best people to be around.
That was really interesting. As i live in Australia obviously i use that floetroel as it is very cheap for us. I haven't checked out our pre stain conditioners. I love watching experiments.
This is fantastic 👏 😊. I am in the uk and Australia Floteral is expensive as is artist loft soft bodied paint.... so using these would be fantastic. Thank you 😊
I'm wondering about the pouring medium you added to your paint, does it has to be Mixed Media Girl's? What about making a coloured pillow. Could we use any colour we want and just mix it to the same consistency?
I just decided to test out her pouring medium. I'm sure there are others that would work but I absolutely love supporting small businesses when I can. I'm sure you can do a colored pillow but that doesn't fancy me... lol that's one more element that I have to figure out. Every product could potentially produce a different reaction.
@@GarrickBrownArtStudio Yes, I like to support small business too, but I am in Canada and the postage and exchange rate kill me. I support my small local art store where I live. Thank you for answering my questions!!
I wanna try this with a little bit of the decoart white enamel stuff as a pillow mixture with the white acrylic instead of house paint- just to see what happens. I'm curious to see if it'll make a difference.
I am sure it will work. You definitely want it to sit like a mound on your canvas. This video may help as well: ruclips.net/video/yxzP3ZVMZfE/видео.html
Have you ever tried to add Golden’s Wetting Aid to mixtures with water? It reduces surface tension of water and increases paint flow when paint and water are mixed. Curious how this medium would affect paint pouring.
I clean them with a wet cloth and alcohol wipe or if it has alot of silicone on it wipe it clean the best you can then put cornstarch on top to absorb the rest for about 30 mins. Before cleaning it off wipe it in with little swirls then wipe down with a alcohol wipe and you are set.
New to this media… may be dumb question… the other paints you used in this video (the colors and base paint) did you mix them with anything like water or floetrol? Or are they straight out of the tube and the cell activator does all the rest?
Not sure if I totally understand but are you trying to figure out how to protect it in case you don't like it or how to preserve it if you do like it lol?

I enjoyed your video very much. However, I want to mention you are mispronouncing Linseed Oil. It is pronounced with a short I sound like “Lenny” so said like in Lynnseed Oil. I may try it but I want to note that Linseed Oil is used a lot in oil paints and it takes at least a month to completely cure before you can resin it if you want. I would imagine that if you did resin coat before it was completely cured (not just dried) the paint could lift or bubble up. It could also develop cracks over time. I am 72 with years of painting under my belt. It is different from silicone and silicone would only take one or two drops. This was just some info for you. Happy painting.

Thank you for the video, I have 3 bottles of Aussie Floetrol but now I won't worry so much about using them up.
True! I'm also testing mixing half and half... nothing like saving that precious liquid gold. 🤑❤️
Love the alternative to Australian Floetrol and especially not using house paint
Yes! It gives us more options. Thanks for watching.
Try just US floetrol 9:1 with Amsterdam paint. No water. No oil. You might be surprised.
I sure will! So nine parts American floe? 1 part paint?
Give or take depending on paint thickness to start.
Do you do the other parts of the technique in a regular way? Like pillow paint, colors?
How much of each , kindly please ❤🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🥰
Awesome idea❤, thank for the use of tiles.

Thank you for your tips and trix 😊 are the minwax waterbased or oil ?
Have you tried Coconut oil?
Yes it reacts similarly to silicone oil. I have a few videos on my channel using it.
New to this media… may be dumb question… the other paints you used in this video (the colors and base paint) did you mix them with anything like water or floetrol? Or are they straight out of the tube and the cell activator does all the rest?
No dumb questions bro! The base paint comes from the can straight. My paints are mixed with pouring medium.
I want to try this on a small around table. What. Can I put over this to protect it. I was thinking maybe an epoxy resin topcoat. Any suggestions
Not sure if I totally understand but are you trying to figure out how to protect it in case you don't like it or how to preserve it if you do like it lol?
Preserve it. I want to paint a table top.
You said you don't use the Minwax very often. Why is that?
It's toxic and annoying to work with. If you spill jsut a little it smells awful. I'm testing some more products right now! Thanks for watching.
Hi, where is your studio for classes
Hey I'm hosting my next retreat in Durham, NC!
What type of tile do you use?
Tiles of home depot or lowes work and they are super cheap!
Do you use more tiles than canvas
I used to but now more canvases due to comissions! Tiles are great for practice.
Thank you
