I like your effortless drop approach ! This works nice for low curbs that are smaller than your board height I've trained with bigger curbs and tried the way you do it - called "firecracker" for the sound of the tail blunt. Those don't work there: your nose is hitting the ground before the front trucks. The height-independent way for beginner is to manual off the curb. The only requirement is to begin a manual (or gentle nose lift) and drive off with enough speed. It's easy and fun to learn :)
i've seen some comments about this tip, but riding off of bigger curbs or even higher drops you wont be able to get down without falling if you don't lift your front truck by putting pressure on the tail, what also always helps is goin fast, because if you go slow you will fall, even with that little manual, but i love the effort, i also started skating this year and if you just keep practicing you will be extremeley good in no time! hope this helped you a little bit have a great day bro, bye
New skater here too, rode off of a 2-stair high box today 😀
Keep it up!
