In one day I went from not being able to ollie while moving, to being able to ollie over a broom handle 3 out of 4 times. This video brought me back to try again. Thank you!!!
Super helpful dude! Skated growning up...haven't been on a board in 20 years! Recently gifted a board and yesterday went to my local skate shop for wheels, bearings and trucks. Super stoked to be back on the board. I have completely forgotten my basic tricks..ollie being one of them. Just feels so good to be back! Thanks for this man..new subscriber 🤙✌

Absolute legend for the very first justification as to why stationary doesn't really help. This has been my exact issue with rolling ollies onto ledges, my board shoots out in front of me, back foot lands wherever and front foot lands on the board. Could not figure out what was going wrong until you mentioned the leaning!
I was literally practicing how to Ollie while moving and I thought, “you know who can help with this?” And instantly went to you and boom, “how to Ollie while riding” AND I figured out what I was doing wrong
Good tip about leaning forward, im a newbie, can pretty much do ollies stationary, but struggle with it while moving, ill try it out next time ill go skating. Thanks for this tip.
Finally had the confidence to clear 2 cones. Funny thing is when I take my rest break I look back at the cones like why is that so high their is no way I just did that
I know I'll be able to do it now as most things in skateboarding are just confidence, and pads help with that, because I actually dropped into a bowl while yesterday I couldn't drop in at all
Dude! I watched (why you can't Ollie) and busted 3 ollie's in a row today! I finally know what Im doing and how it's supposed to feel! I committed to the trick and kept my weight ahead of the board, and my feet made the board follow me. I finally get it....
been skating for the last 3 months and began landing ollies consistently while stationary. ill be going back to my dads r tomorrow and will have my board so I will have your advice . Thanks so much 👌
New sub I been skating for a while but I've been trying to tre filp and kickfilp before I ollie while moving I noticed I need to ollie while moving so this helped alot.

I always had a rocketed moving ollie, with your tips I will probably get a good Ollie, gonna try it later cut it's still hot outside, thank you very much.
My issue is definitely the sudden change in momentum, when the board goes backwards when I push down on the tail. Putting more weight on that front foot definitely helped but I feel like I have to shift weight while jumping to get that tail to pop.
thank you so much for this, because I've been struggling quite alot and I just remember you from one of the tricks you helped me with, and I actually got it! thanks (:
The lean forward tip lead me to a success today 😎 i was able to do a Little orribile ollie while Rolling but this time i landed on the board in a stable position. That was Gold 😎 thanks a lot really ♥️
Bruh I need this, I had my ollies high and consistent but then I rolled my ankle and then rerolled it recently and ever since then I can't commit to anything
With that you have to put a lot of focus on your shoulders and hips. The goal is to stay as parallel with the board as possible. One tip that helped me get through that is crossing your arms like an X as you crouch down then let it release into a T pose as you go up to emphasize keeping your shoulders parallel
Can you do a similar video but more advanced in terms of speed? I can do all my tricks moving but not going fast , how do pros do tricks skating so fast and why ? Sometimes when i need to go fast i will like a certain grind or over some stairs or some obstacle , but i would never choose to bust a random flip trick at a high speed , i always wait to slow down until i am comfortable
Thank you I really appreciate this video, helped me a lot ! :) before seeing this I was attempting ollies at empty skateparks whilst just getting used to cruising on flat ground. But today was raining so I cleared a space in my garage and looked up your video, after about an hour of solid attempts I got it whilst moving real slow :) but only issue I gotta iron out is landing with wide feet, my front foot will be either landing on the bolts or just below. You have earned a new subscriber, take care 🙂
Back when I was trying to learn to skate there wasn't any youtube yet, so me an my one other skateboard body had to learn the rolling ollie ourselves and it was a big mystery how you could get any air into a rolling ollie. People say it's a simple trick but without any help alot of the stuff that happens on a skateboard is almost voodoo. Also the environment was a little toxic to very young beginners.. Nobody wanted to have "small" kids around while trying to look cool on their boards. I'm glad the whole environment changed and the skating world became much more accessable for the younger generation.
Leaning back is definitely an issue I have, so thank you for pointing that out. Something I do wanna ask however; where should my foot position be? Because I actually end up priming my ollies lmao. I'm assuming that's because my feet might be too far to one side. Might that be true? Thanks!
i always randomly stop while moving and doing an ollie. like i will be moving at a good pace, then do an ollie, land it but i just stop/slow down a lot. does anyone have some tips?
I find it so much easier to Ollie onto a curb than it is to Ollie while rolling on flat. And I hate that I can’t be going decently fast and do a Ollie on flat, but I can approach a ledge at almost any speed and get over it. So I know I can do it on flat it’s just a mental barrier
my board is doing the opposite of going in front of me it like stops moving when i do it maybe its because its a shitty Walmart board but idk what to do plz help:(
hey ive been trying my ollies while moving and i get them w out the back foot perfect pop and everything... problem is its on a hill tmrow ima try on flat sounds confusing but yeh...
I’m learning how to Ollie but I can’t do them without a side walk crack. Every time try without one I start rollin on my board. I can’t actually stay in one place on my board for more then a few seconds and I don’t know y. Even if the ground is level I can’t stay still😭. Do u have any advice??
PLEASE HELP. i can ollie while rolling but only when im slow, ive been stuck like this for almost a month and I can't ollie while im moving fast, i always slip and fall off.
I mentioned this in a kickflip video: Try crossing your arms like an X when you crouch down then focus on uncrossing them into a T pose when you go up. This will help you focus and put more emphasis on keeping your shoulders parallel
So popping the board while moving shoves the board kinda backwards? I thought you have to pop right downwards. I went to watch a couple more ollie(stationary & rolling) i noticed that the board does move a bit backwards.. so to be able to keep momentum you pop in an angle not directly downwards? Am i misunderstanding something? Please someone clarify One more thing when rolling forward when you mean by leaning forward you mean lean more towards the nose?
My guess for that is the pop goes slightly backwards to help increase the ability of sliding your front foot up the board more. And yes, by leaning forward I mean towards the nose.
@@seanbrownskating That would explain why every time i pop ollie while rolling the tail slides forward and shoots up and i dont get pop. Thanks ill try it out tomorrow
My front foot slides too far up so when i land i just fall because it's on the nose of the board. I don't know how to fix it. It doesn't happen while doing ollies without any speed.
Hmmm maybe move your front foot closer towards the middle of the board? Not too sure either. Try to keep a conscious mind of what's happening with what you're doing wrong then try to do the opposite
I just realized why I might be struggling with this so much, my board is pretty old and the griptape isn’t good anymore, could they be a reason as to why I can’t do it?
@@seanbrownskating hey man thx for the reply and tip, but I just figured out how to actually level out my board with the Ollie which was another problem I had
Btw I have been getting comfortable on my board for a few weeks (3/4) and I want to start riding in more places but I need to know how to Ollie to get around downtown ya know?? If anybody had this problem PLEASE help me out😭😭
To help with this try crossing your arms like and X when squatting down, then uncross them to a T pose when jumping up. This should prevent them from turning too much.
For some reason I can Ollie on the crack on the side walk but whenever I try on smooth ground the board just slips out from under me and shoots towards my back foot, what am I doing wrong lol
I would try to focus on keeping your shoulders and hips parallel with the board. One way I do this is when I crouch down, I cross both my arms like an X then go into a T pose as I ollie up
Im just scared to commit to it because im fragile as hell. And I dont wanna break the shi outta my arm to the point I cant skate for a few months. Skating saved me when I was at my lowest.
