i respect it, however nah
no I don't want to
no
I don’t want me steam account hacked
no, i'd rather have fun on my spare time
They are honestly the only gaming company i know that has the budget, ideas, and ambitous developers, fully capable of releasing amazing games, but they just decide not to
Because Valve isn’t a game studio anymore.
That's not true@@crimsonpomp
And? I'd rather have them not release something than do shit and fuck it up like just about every other studio does. In Rockstar's case, people were angry they weren't working on GTA 6. how entitled to you have to be to be angry at a developer for NOT making a game? They do things great, when they do them, whereas most developers do things shit, ALL the time.
@@hongkongphooye2576 Except they are straight up deciding to not make games, instead relying on steam for income
valve just seemed to move on. they seem to be just working on their software rn like the steam client or linux proton. their chilling rn, other libary options are just bad and pumped full of company greed. every company having enought resources to compete whit steam just chooses to try and beat steam instead of just being a good option people would enjoy using besides steam and use the things steam dont covers for their advantage.
Honestly, the portal 64 thing is not at all surprising. Valve is completely right to be scared, as nintendo is a very very litigious company. the concern at valve is that they will get sued for fan content that violates nintendo's copyright and ip which is a totally valid concern.
It's true valve would love the idea But knowing how nintendo hates everyone who messes with their stuff And get pretty aggressive
Valve also hired a new attorney recently

what im saying is that new or old attorney, valve would still have pulled the plug on the project, as they could run into legal trouble with nintendo

As not only was it steams first non valve game but it was also made by Mark Healey who would later be one of the key members behind Media Molicule and the game was a heavy influence for Little Big Planet especially in its art style.
So without Ragdoll Kung Fu we wouldnt have LBP at all.
LBP was (a big part of) my childhood so... yeah can't complain.

The lack of content moderation is awesome, let people buy dumb and fucked up games
I do wish they would ban non-functional or scam games though
So the S.a. game is ok?
The enemy of Valve and 'modders' (correctly read 'indie devs') has always been publishers. Valve transitioned INTO a publisher to solve the problem. It isn't a downfall, but an evolution. They can act as a limitless platform for indie devs to make their dream games without being constrained by publisher demands. This one change to the gaming landscape is the only thing that prevented the heat-death of gaming as publishers buy out large devs and then shut them down when they don't make billions in loot box sales. Steam in particular kept developers making their beloved passion project games instead of publisher sequel-hell titles, and we cannot consider that a downturn. They stopped making games so others could continue.

@@CarbonOtterit's below room temp
@@CarbonOtter I mean, he's not completely wrong. Yes, other games can flourish and be created; but that still doesn't excuse VALVe doing absolutely nothing with their IP's.
That's the thing though... Their IPs are theirs to do what they want, so it's not something we should see as an innate negative. Plus they promote modding their games as full mod listings on Steam so they aren't entirely restrictive on IP usage. To me, not making games may suck for expected sequels, but it isn't otherwise a bad thing if that effort goes toward something that does lead to new games. You do have a valid point, just not a definitive one in my opinion.@@QuiteSimplyInsane
You really should've talked about Artifact and CS2. Those would've really helped to sell the "fall" part of the video. Also probably should've emphasized the lack of output in the 2010s some more. A lot of people stopped caring for Valve because of it.
Artifact is a good game with a terrible marketing. It's one of the best existing PC card games.
CS2 is in very much playable state and people who scream how the game is broken and unplayable are delusional.
@@d4cto I was moreso thinking about CS2's lack of content and how it's accentuated because Valve removed CSGO so they wouldn't have to leave all the valuable items in an abandoned game. They allowed the pursuit of riches to compromise their integrity, just like every other big company. As for Artifact, it has been a while, so maybe my memory has caused me to misunderstand what happened with that game. I can't imagine though why Valve would abandon it so quickly if it was such a good game.
@@parmesanbrawler7183 Artifact was abandoned because it had two digits player number. It's marketing was not just terrible - it was disastrous even though a lot of people who played Magic The Gathering said that the game is actually very good.
@@parmesanbrawler7183 Artifact was a good game however it suffered from 2 major issues, that being the very questionable monetization model, and how overly complicated the game was. The monetization model was their attempt at replicating the MTG monetization model, that being you have to buy individual booster packs, but you can then trade/sell individual cards to whomever you want. The big sticking point however was the fact that the game didn't really offer a way to get more booster packs for free like you could in say Hearthstone or Gwent. That paired with the fact that the game had a price tag meant that the value was extremely unappealing to most players. The other problem was how ridiculously complicated the game was compared to games like MTG and Hearthstone. The game had you playing on 3 boards at the same time, with a bunch of hero cards with varying spell cards that matched the hero, alongside different types of hero cards that matched with different spells, and then you had to gain and spend gold to get items, all of which were cards you had to assemble at the start of the round... point is it was a complete mess which was fun once you learned how to play but nobody wanted to spend the time and effort to do so.
@@parmesanbrawler7183 Artifact was partially doomed as a result of it being a Valve product, as in, additionally being the release that broke the preceding drought and people were just plain disappointed that "this" is what they got, they also wanted to emulate a real-world card economy- but it definitely looks greedy within the digital space and had to compete with other standout titles alongside it such as Hearthstone for example- would you rather move over to a brand new game that you've heard negative things about or would you stick to your comfort zone?
As for Counter-Strike 2, it's doing "fine" despite what you hear on social media, especially as far as Valve is concerned; CS:GO content will be re-evaluated and reworked back into the game once the core game is settled; when it comes to the economy items, the series as a whole is essentially doomed to this identity and preserving them, their function/form, and their value through the ages, since you risk toppling trust for not only for present/future players, but players for other Valve games as well and as such must be treated with extreme care and respect; ultimately what we all see as "Counter-Strike 2" here is of course mostly just a lengthy code port over to Source 2 alongside a redesign process for the majority of the assets (which is the easiest part for them)... it certainly has a ton more effort put into it than Overwatch 2, but they are absolutely playing it mostly safe and patiently rather than living dangerously and in the moment.
valve never fell?
40:40 bro did NOT complain about a game called tyrone vs cops 😭
made by the same guy who made cuck simulator, great dev
People been saying "Valve fell off" for like a decade and every time Valve proves that they are still capable of producing quality games. Last time that happend, they released HL:Alyx which is still considered one of the best VR games out there and it's been nearly 4 years. And some might say "It's VR, so it doesn't matter" but that's cherry picking examples.
Valve didn't fall and their work and presence is still felt. People just willingly undermine it and wish for "more games", despite the fact that we are currently in the more oversaturated market ever.
HLAlyx could have been a FPS game and nothing about the gameplay would change. All they do is waste time on VR so the expensive headsets might a use in the future while letting their IPs rot and selling everyone else's games.
Between DOTA 2 (2013) and Half Life: Alyx (2020) they released one game, Artifact (2019), which was abandoned as quickly and unceremoniously as it came, if another videogame developer had those numbers on their belt you would say the "Fallen off" thing, specially when most of their regular updates on their already existing games are just made by the community, but since they made an amazing game 20 years ago and can live off from selling cosmetics through virtual gambling and other peoples games through their hosting service I guess they really haven't fallen off as a videogame developer...
@@EinSilverRose Half-Life was always about innovation, what else could they even innovate with PC gaming as it is now? There's also a group of modders that made a No VR version of the game and there's at least more than one person who has made a playthrough of it
As someone who grew up watching let's plays of multiple games because my family can't afford consoles, some people just have to accept that they can't play a game themselves

50:39 Valve is like rapture, full of blilliant people, incredible talents and whatnot, but inteligent people want to do big stuff, and not just, clean the floor, make food or... fix a 2 decade old game
I think its a matter of the interesting stuff that could be done with a project. Its fascinating to compare TF2 to Dota 2 for instance. Dota 2 was fully released over a decade ago at this point, and yet Valve still releases content at an impressive scale. Compared to any other competitive game on the market, its like Valve has a Carte Blanche to do whatever they want, and use that to transform the game with big new changes on an annual basis TO THIS DAY. I imagine part of it could be that Dota 2 has a much cleaner code base so the devs enjoy making content for the game a lot more than they do in TF2's massive spaghetti code base.

Excellent video! There are a lot of great points in the video that truly answers what Valve has been up to recently, even if these points are purely speculations they gave us some kind of answer unlike other videos that just use the same point over and over again without changing up anything. These are very unique and interesting points that i've never heard from anyone else, love the video!
In my opinion, the fact that Valve has changed isn't bad, even in the community aspect. They aren't the same company anymore. Valve isn't a game dev company, its an innovation company, and they always have been. They started out changing the landscape of gaming, and now they are going to change the landscape of bigger things. As much as no one wants to admit it, gaming was never and never will be the biggest thing out there because of things like exploring new planets or terraforming. There always will be something bigger than gaming, because at its core, gaming is a passtime. A hobby. Maybe a career if your lucky, but not a career likely to change the world. Valve aspires to be a company that makes innovations in everything, not just game design. They just happened to start out in the gaming industry and are now seeing it fit to leave that industry behind and move to something they see as greater. There will always be more game companies, more indie groups ready to make what they love. Valve indirectly misguided their community by making it seem like their ultimate goal was to innovate gaming, when it was really just to innovate, period.
Blah blah blah, where is tf2 heeby update then?
blah blah blah, mf you forgot about Alyx and CS2.
No, they are still very much focused on gaming. They started making hardware ...for games. They want to make brain-computer interfaces ...for games. They're developing VR technologies ...for games. They continue to develop Proton to make Windows _games_ run on Linux. The Steam Deck is for playing Steam _games_ on a handheld pc. Their VR headsets are made for, and marketed towards, GAMES. Their most recent major project (that has been announced) was a massive update to their biggest GAME.
Valve is still 100% a game company.
@@vibaj16 you're missing something important in your reply, valve is still innovating outside of the game itself, on the technologies used for the game.
Especially with half life and portal, each time they bring some new technology to the table, they make a game on top of it to show off it's capabilities (half life alyx and aperture hand lab come to mind, actually half life itself is a show off of what the source engine can do 😉)

Valve has always been about innovation, the issue as I see it is that we can't really truly "innovate" the games anymore without taking them somewhere else, i.e. VR and the likes

the other issue is people change interests all the time, even in the same industry, we have all played a game where at least 1 devs was burnt out on working on it even if it was only a little bit, that system is great but has that severe issue where a project could have been worked on for a good chunk of time taking company time and just be shut down out of nowhere cause of a mild disagreement.
Wdym fall of Valve, they are and have always been the best. I will watch the video and edit this comment after.

PirateSoftware was saying that a 15 dollar item in WOW made more money than StarCraft 2. Which is insane if you think about it. Valve as a company are no longer interested in game development because some crates inside of CSGO or a month's worth of game sales will generate equal or more money compared to an entire valve developed single player game
Just because they have fallen doesn't mean they can't get back up. Please, Valve, get back up.
I'm surprised that you didn't mention what happened with Team Fortress 2 Classic and Open Fortress where Valve reached out to the dev team for them and asked them to take down the downloads as they were going to make "arrangements" with them to make it an official mod for TF2 or something but then Valve just straight up ghosted them for months so the dev team for both games brought back up the downloads.
So where is this information from? or is it just random shit?
@@sumfagola What's stopping you from looking it up?
@@Geiger_ What's stopping the person making the claim from proving it?
*18:00** When I was playing Minecraft in 2010s, I was surprised to see the reason for this success after making a cake in the game. It was a very good reference.*
The thing that bothers me the most about the Team Fortress Source 2 takedown is that Valve easily could have contracted Amper Software to work on the game officially, as they have done with other talented modders in the past. The team behind TFS2 was only slowing down development due to having less free time, and changes in s&box's engine. On Valves payroll, and access to the Source 2 SDK (not to mention the ability to use TF2's source code), I'm sure the game would have come out a polished and faithful port, with competent anticheat and no spaghetti code.
the reason they issued the takedown for TFS2 was because the game wasn't made using the source engine, meaning the assets came from presumably unauthorized channels? Does it suck? 10000% but in this age where everyone's trying to steal something from someone, it makes sense that valve would be a bit more protective of their IP.... it just sucks all around tbh I'm on no one's side it just sucks
minor error:
S&ndbox has it's own version of Source 2 running; so not even the S2 SDK is finalized nor available for public dev use.
Reason being that Valve themselves would release it to the public for dev use if it were.
You say that but then, what is the focus of Valve right now, and how did community related stuff end up lately for them?
Especially with TF2, where community based updates like Invasion and End of the line were utter failures even though it all seemed amazing before those updates actually got released to the public.
That's something I never hear anyone talk about in relation to this. Valve has no reason to hire these guys because of what they experienced already, nothing guarantees that it would end up well and if anything they only have reasons to think it would end up for the worse, and would only end up being a pain in their rear.
Sucks a *lot* but it's honestly not surprising.
@simplysmiley4670 True, Invasion and End of the Line were failures. If I remember right, the main issues with those updates were internal disputes over who got paid what, and slow communication with Valve, both of which wouldn't be issues with proper contracts and Valve's direct support. Also, the recent community updates have been a huge success, with Versus Saxton Hale pushing the game to a new concurrent player record.

My dream job's always been to work at valve.
Sadly, that's just slowly fading away as i see the company they are inside more and more.
I agree with Gabe Newell's stance on content moderation. I far prefer having more, lower quality games that are allowed to be whatever it is they want to be. If content is bad, it won't sell well. Content shouldn't be restricted based on how controversial it is. Valve isn't trying to step in and tell people what games are good or bad to sell. The steam community can, and does, hand this problem itself. From my personal experience, the user review system works well for me. I would much rather take the chance of buying a bad game than risk losing the opportunity to play a good game because it was considered controversial by a content moderation team I have no control over.
Fair, but to me the problem is more about how laxxed Valve is about it, just like in his example with AI, people will lie and skirt around the limits to get their slop games sold, and there's no telling how far Valve will want to go just to enforce their almost non-existent guidelines.

Valve may have slowed down substantially on their output, but they haven't given in to the same issues as other developers for the most part. Even the Portal 64 thing was due to legal issues from Nintendo, the biggest copyright warhawk in gaming, it's not like Valve alone decided "hey let's fuck this guy over and ruin his mod" after years of supporting mods. I can understand the disappointment over their hands-off approach in recent years, but at least they're not pumping out garbage to keep up appearances like nearly every other AAA studio.
"in 1998, video games didn't tell stories"
Man, FF6 and Chrono Trigger released earlier by 4 and 3 years respectively.
Yeah, I think there was an unspoken "this type of action game" but even then that's really debatable. Honestly a lot of the video just feels... loosely written.
The gist I get from this video is: Valve "fell" because TF2 has a bot problem and they don't care about. That is really just such a miniscule reason to make such a long video about.
The title of saying Valve "fell" was already a dumb non-starter, that could be generously attributed as click-bait. Valve is still doing great and making great products. But we'll all continue to be a bit bitter that we can't have HL3.
@@HaloHunter2552 I'm sorry but how come VALVe has not fallen from grace? They went from releasing some of the most well crafted videogames of all time to ignoring blatant issues in one of the most popular games in their catalogue, releasing an unfinished sequel to one of their most popular IPs and creating overpriced hardware that nobody asked for while living of a monopoly on PC videogame distribution (Because they don't publish the vast majority of games on Steam, they just host the games so people can buy and download them for a percentage of the sales, in esence they are more like a virtual GameStop than a publisher) and cosmetic microtransactions, if EA or Ubisoft where the developers of TF2 or CS2 everyone would be landblasting them for the sorry state both games are and the fact that any consistent content update on both games are cosmetics that are made by just importing assests made by the comunity, but since VALVe made HL2 ALMOST 20 YEARS AGO they get a pass on whatever dumb shit they do.
@@goldenweegee007 Points of response:
1) Steam Deck, and various other hardware projects. The steam controller was a flop, but a very cool flop. I wish I had the VR set. I was gifted a VR headset that I'm struggling to make work due to it being limited to Windows software. They've also made a lot of open source contributions, but considering you call it overpriced crap, I'm guessing you wouldn't understand why that's so beneficial. All I can say is I disagree. It's not over priced crap.
2) Half Life: Alyx. That wasn't just a prequel.
The ending gave a very strong indication that valve is NOT done with Half Life. They still release well crafted games.
3) Games were nearly unplayable for any Linux users, if not for the (still recent and ongoing) efforts by Valve.
The only issue I can see is with TF2. You're right. It's an issue. But one issue does not mean Valve has fallen.
@@HaloHunter2552
1) You are forgetting the Steam Machine, it's not your fault, VALVe also wishes to forget about that, as for VR, I honestly don't care about it, it's a gimmick, right now the price point and lack of software is holding it back and it doesn't matter how much Meta or VALVe want to pretend it's the future, it's gonna take between 5-10 years at best for it to finally become mainstream and even then that's not a guarantee for it to replace the way people game for today since many genres are hard to convert to it, also as for the Steam Deck, there where many portable PCs on the market before VALVe made it's own, I guarantee some of them are even cheaper than the Deck so I don't know what kind of hardware innovation there is on that front.
2) Between DOTA2 (2013) and Half Life: Alyx (2020) VALVe released just one more game, Artifact, which even if it was a good game it doesn't compare to the amount of praise VALVe got from the games they released between 2004-2013, if that's not falling off for you then there's no point in arguing.
3) I am under the impression you game on Linux, I'm glad VALVe has not abandoned Unix inside the gaming sphere and has made great strides for it to be simpler, but that isn't just the same as creating genre defining games that have had a lasting impact in the entirety of the gaming industry, we can at least agree on that, right?
4) TF2 isn't just an issue, it's a whole deal, it's not just the bot crisis, there's a shit ton of bugs that have been occurring on the game for years that VALVe has not bothered to fix, just recently they started implementing bug fixes made by the community because they just don't care, it's also the fact the game hasn't had a substantial update since 2017 yet the community made cosmetics every single summer/Halloween/Christmas every single year shows that they just want to keep making money of a community they don't care about supporting.
CS2 isn't fairing any better, they released a half baked sequel with a ton missing content from the previous installment, the sub-tick system they implemented didn't fix the hit-reg issues that CSGO had and it also added a whole new amount of issues that could've been sussed out on the beta version if it was properly tested before release, while also not addressing the rampant hacking and smurfing problems that CSGO was notorious for, and the cherry on top? CS2 replaced CSGO so you can't even play that game for whatever reason you have, simply because they wanted more skin money, I understand they will fix the game given time, but there was no reason to release the game on the state it was, the community has complained instantly about it and even some pro players have spoken about how the game was simply not ready for competitive play, yet there are forced to use it because VALVe took the other alternative from us.
They have many more issues, like the lack of QA on Steam, I understand not banning games for being lewd or racist, but there has been more than a few games that had malware on them and it's documented, how about the time they teamed up with Bethesda to implement paid mods? There are many more issues that I'm forgetting, but the latest mod takedowns are uniquely uncharacteristic for VALVe, considering that most of their most successful games started as mods before being the giants they are.
VALVe HAS fallen off, and if we keep defending them for their obvious fuck ups instead of holding them accountable for the mistakes they made then it will never rise up to be the amazing gaming company it was
hat in time music!
Not a downfall.
Portal 64 was taken down by his own developer. Valve would have loved to see it come to fruition however it using the Nintendo library was not something they wanted to Risk.
In the case of TF2 for Source 2 that's because the assets were just taken straight out of TF2. For Source 1 engine.
They were not made from scratch or took a different interpretation. Primary example->HL1 remakes aka Black Mesa. Those were mods that Valve fully approved of since it was made from scratch and not one asset was used. From the original. It also did its own thing with creative envisions. Etc etc.
When the hell did valve fall what I miss
clickbait i think
not literally fall, just theoretically, morally, fancy terms like that
They didn't make any more games and tbh the companies structure should probably be changed because it really doesn't work because if an argument breaks out and neither side can agree on a solution that problem doesn't get solved
@@isyeayesyup thank you person with eggcat pfp
If this is what we consider to be "the fall", I don't know what company is left standing 😂
The critic is obviously valid, but I doubt the majority of people would think that those issues overshadow their recent achievements.
HL Alyx is a great VR game and Steam Deck is a success.
I know most people don't care about Linux gaming and Proton, but this thing works and it's a threat for Microsoft.
Yes, Valve is slow and they cancel a ton of projects, but personally I'd rather HL3 didn't exist than it being a soulless Ubisoft-style cash grab.
I must say I don't think theres anything wrong with valve having a "free speech absolutist" stance when it comes to what is on their platform. You said it yourself that they have a monopoly when it comes to video games.
I'd rather they didn't but since they do I'm glad they're not trying to regulate what people are buying or making cause that could set a bad precedent.
Exactly. A monopolist who doesn't censor at all is in each and every way better than a monopolist who tries to push his own agenda/morality via censorship.
It is crazy that I never played Half life 1 or 2, but spent hundreds and hundreds of hours in their mods. Modding scene is really important and they knew it. They basically sold me their game to play content they did not even created, I had no interest in actually playing their game, just the mods
22:06 no it was CS:CZ & Deleted Scenes in 2004.
27:41 since 2016-2017-2018
Valve fell? Really? Did I end up in a different universe again?
I do not agree with your moderation standpoint, but I can understand it. It's just not something to be objectively pinned as "symptom of the fall". I personally hate shovelware and racist games, but except the most radical ones there isn't a fine line in what is garbage and what is not. For everyone their own and I can respect it from Steam's point of view
The most prominent thing about "the fall" that needs to be dealt with is the whole flatland and "project abandonment" issue considering both unfinished projects and existing games (TF2). Why didn't they take in and endorse TF2 port to sandbox like they usually did?!
Despite all this, I think Valve are still an amazing company, especially compared to the whole dumpster fire that is gaming industry right now.
Yeah his Moderation point was just not good. Like i get the annoyance of steam not marking loot box games as 18+ but he didint mention that.
But even so why should horny bait games be Banned? And yeah while the prison game example sounded fd up. Its still a game. If the games audio was taken from someting like this really hapening then fine i can agree with that but its Fiction! Who cares? I hate cats but im not asking Stray to be banned because it triggers me.
Your music taste is impeccable good sir.
Anyone else notice the Calamity mod music in the background?
im pretty sure valve hasnt used that "flatlands" work on what you want thing since like before hl:a
the structure did not translate well to remote work because of covid 19.
Isnt like first nonvalve game released on steam codename gordon?
now now...where have i seen this tittle before?
*2007 Never Forgotten Best Gaming Year Of Year Ever. Revolution Of Gaming History. i never forget it these days when i was 3.5 year old.*
they are rather careful then fallen
I bet coming up with that video title did not take more than 2 seconds.
Fyi: he changed the title from ”the rise and fall of valve” to ”the history and future of valve”
bros scared of porn
I see tits on steam and im like AAAAAA
its trash that prevents the market place from showcasing actually cool games, but whatever the money goes.
Question! Have you used music from the videogame "Strafe" arround 34:58? I SWEAR its from strafe
its from the half life 2 soundtrack, called "triage at dawn"
Thank youuu!!
I don't know if there's a way to confirm r deny it, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if Valve secretly hired the TF Source 2 guys to work on TF3 (or whatever it would be called)
I wouldn't be surprised if Valve was already working on their own version of TF3 for Source 2. The way I see it, the main reason for the bot problem is the F2P structure of TF2. You can't just make TF2 cost money again. But you CAN make TF3 and charge like $10-$40 for it. So maybe that's their "solution to the bot problem." TF3 would be an insane undertaking and if they were actually working on it, their actions on TF Source 2 would make a lot of sense.
I still have a physical copy of the orange box.
I made my steam account in 2014 to buy Terraria and Magicite, and didn't know Valve existed until several years after that.
something I noticed recently is that Valve doesn't slap their branding all over their launcher like other companies do.
The title changed. The older title worked better for algorithm
I like Gabe's view on freedom though. Sure there's trash, morally dubious and culturally sensitive games on the platform, but it's better than being censored on subjective personal views of others even though you haven't broken any law.
Yeah valve isnt the CCP
Agreed. That was the only awful take he had in the video tho. He really came off as a Soccer mom there who thinks Skyrim should be banned because it shows decapitation. Like wtf.
*If this wasn't Quake. Valve and all these games and Steam would not exist right now. Who knows what kind of face gaming history has now?*
The Fall of Valve: 📈📈📈📈📈
And Valve has a monopoly 🤡🤡🤡
Man this videos only makes sense if you stop thinking and just listens and never think again.
*26:30** i wonder ask: Valve Have 2 Offices?*
Valve 100% did not fall.
I feel like flatland has simply resulted in valve as a whole not really knowing what they want to do. Employees will see something new and cool and work on it until it hits a brick wall and then shelve it to work on something else for a bit until something new and cool comes up again and the cycle repeats.
Also... wouldnt it be nice if steam had a 'normal' and 'shovelware' or 'mass release' in which all the games that are licenced or decent indie products are seperated from all the weird one time play games or boob games.
"Hey... ive seen this one, thats a classic."
"What do you mean, you've seen this. Its brand new."
18:33 that edgebug though
Finally, Trihydrogen has uploaded after a long time!
Meh more like rise and stall, calling it a fall is an overstatement
Bro make 90% of his videos on the same subject. I love it
What is going to happen is that Gaben will get old and hand over the company to someone else who will try to restructure the company which will cause the devs to strike which will cause the company to shut down and sell Steam to Microsoft and all the games will turn to subscription based.
Even with the click bait title i watched this because my issues with Underlords. Valve seems to be doing the right thing or just comparatively least worst game company, publisher and store. People complaining about valve not release unfinished games don't make sense even if they are nearly complete because we already have too many unfinished games being released in a poor condition.
idk how but i watched an hour long video on valve and i didnt even know them before this
man i bought contractors even tho i didnt have a vr headset because tfvr looked so fun.
god dammit valve.
mostly god damnit for new valve software. i want classic vintage 1996-2014 Valve Software...
I dont know why people are hating on this video. As someone who has followed valve for years, all the facts and trivia about valve is very interesting to me
Bro, Imagine if Bathesda went the OG Valve route and hired it's modders. Their games would be so much better!
I litteraly said that out loud while watching the video, but greed will always get in the way of bethesda getting better. Unless they do some revisions after the flop that Starfield was, they'll just keep dumming down each game until they're not RPGs anymore and just fps action games with COD tier writing.
26:38 mostly Developers.
i might as well move back to my nintendo 64
As a side note, It is good that TF2 is not GAAS, because we are in control of what servers we can create (dedicated server emulator software), even though the other half of it is entirely based on Valve-created servers. Unlike other reprehensible game companies like EA, heavily rely on GAAS to the point their own games get destroyed and become no longer playable by the player base. We don't have to be a hardcore gamer to witness what is going on in the games industry is just plain wrong.
Just ask Ross Scott/Accursed Farms about that, and the video is known as "Games as a service" is fraud" in case you are wondering. I am grateful he is one of those people speaking out on these issues.
As for Team Fortress 2's competitive mode, Valve should've made this an entirely separate version of TF2, while the rest of us, can play the TF2 we all love, so long as Valve does not replace it, like they f**king did with CS:GO. If that makes any sense to you guys.
Valve should hire people highly interested in fixing the tf2 bot problem and a team of developers actually interested in a game project with deadlines like a proper HL3 and L4D3 and keep them apart from that flatland bs. That's just a license to be a f*uckwad
