John Derek was an American actor (August 12, 1926-May 22, 1998), husband, father, photographer, director, screenwriter, editor, producer, cinematographer, artist, horseman, WWII vet, leather worker. He was first married to American actress and Russian born starlet Pati Behrs, a grandniece of Leo Tolstoy with whom he had two children Russell (deceased) and daughter Sean Catherine Derek. Later he was married to actresses Ursula Andress, Linda Evans, and Bo Derek. Some would say that he was better known for being married to these three women than his work in film. His last three wives all closely resembled each other and were photographed for Playboy by John Derek. All three were naturally beautiful, blue eyed, high cheek boned, blonde goddesses. He was probably the original 'Most Interesting Man in the World'.

John was a 46 year old pervert who managed to convince a naive easily manuipulated beautiful 16 year old to go with him and cater to his whims. I think Bo was one of those kids in school that kept to herself. One of the "odd ones" who happened to be very attractive and with a good figure at the time. Then she ends up doing films that require nudity. Soft-porn that went done by the usual blue movie studios. Never to be taken serious again. And likely met a few Harvey Weinsteins before she left the business.
Any time there's beautiful women there are the Harvey Weinsteins. And "casting couches". How it's aways been and will be. All entertainment businesses (mainstream film, XXX, modelling, singing....wrestling...). And I'll be they still use the same line "So you want to be famous? I have 1000 others just like you coming...what are YOU willing to do to...".

I'm intrigued to see this interview and especially, to see how incredibly self absorbed this couple were. Not surprising but sad to hear how he treated his own children from his first relationship.

I worked for the 2 of them very closely in 1980 for 3 months and what you hear in the interview is exactly how they both were then. They treated me very well but they didn’t suffer fools so some of the crew did have a hard time or got fired. I believe Bo is an entirely different person now❤

I just saw her Reelz documentary and was taken aback by how ardently the people in that documentary defended their relationship and him as a person. They tried their best to make it seem like he did nothing wrong but it’s easy to see that this man was likely highly manipulative and able to control those around him. It was shocking to hear her talk about how she was 15 and “destroyed” a marriage when she had a total lack of agency and understanding regarding the situation in comparison to this old, experienced man. I got the impression she still perceives it as romantic and appealing since she was with him until she died and spent her best years alongside him. She seems like a nice person but it’s too bad she didn’t have strong parental figures who could have made her aware of how men in Hollywood try to charm younger women and then play it off as “romance.” His family and his ex wife also seem totally delusional about the whole affair and see it as consensual despite the unequal dynamic they shared. Wild that this wasn’t considered completely unacceptable back then and he still managed to get work.

Somehow I don’t think that was her true nature, but a transference of John’s personality over to her when she was allowing herself to be controlled by him for so long. Bo seems like such a sweet person, this interview is very hard to watch due to the body language, cues, etc. It's clear he groomed her, and used her just like he did his previous wives, he would have made a great cult leader; a total Narcissist who never took any responsibility for his actions (that he was clearly aware of). His children and the young women he preyed on were his victims, who knows how many more there are that we don't know about, these types usually have a long list over the years. Even today in Bo's interviews, there are signs that she still has not come to grips with what was done to her. I'm happy she seems to have found a decent man who truly loves her and sees her for the person she is.

Mark Keith This one only looks like Cameron when her hair and makeup are a certain way, the others looked like her and even had the same voice. We are not really right for one another. I keep looking. I went to dinner with a girl who looked like Sandra Bullock I used to work with. It's the first one that looked like Cameron Diaz that interested me the most. She worked at the grocery store next to where I worked. I only handed her some religious information and her mom got bent out of shape. If I had known the age of consent was 16, which she was, I would have ignored her mom. Her mom came to my job to corner me but Amber came with her. That's how I knew she liked me. John seemed domineering, controlling and single-minded...He seemed like a "It's my way or the highway" kind of person...Santa Ynez Valley is where the Reagan Ranch is and where Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch is...Clearly, being so far up and so far away from the city below, gave them all the privacy John and Bo craved...If John and Bo had had a child, while he was alive, he/she would've, probably, been stunningly handsome/beautiful, given how stunning John and Bo were, looks-wise...John seemed arrogant and narcissistic...He seemed very intelligent and articulate, though, and seemed to have, genuinely, loved Bo...It would be interesting to examine John's childhood...I think going back to someone's childhood is the key to finding out why he/she became the way they became...John's face, though bearded, reminds me of Rob Lowe's...Interestingly, now, Bo is with a younger man, John Corbett, only five years younger, though, and they're an unmarried couple...John Derek seemed to have been disliked by many people, but, he seemed happy and at peace with himself...That ranch must've been a peaceful place for John and Bo to live...They both loved horses, and, based on the above video, dogs, also...It's, always, interesting and fascinating to see Hollywood movie stars of yesteryear, at an older age and stage of their lives, and listen to all they have to say...I learn so much more from those kinds of interviews than what emanates from the Hollywood stars of today...It was nice, seeing this interview, especially, given how rare John Derek interviews were and how hard they are to find, today.

As bad as most everyone thinks of John Derek, I find him to be refreshingly honest. Most people only divulge what they want people to hear and to reflect a positive image, and who knows what the truth is. John Derek speaks his views and mind, like it or not. The women seem to love him. People who did not live during this time yet judge the prior generations base their opinions on narrow perceptions. I miss the prior generations more than I love the current me culture.

From what I have learned about John is that he was not comfortable doing interviews and being photographed during the years he was married to Bo and some years prior. He really was a very talented artistic man. Yes she is a goddess!

Bo is very, very beautiful outside here. But just a little girl, she grew later to be a wise woman with a big heart. But John being talented? He is the WORST film "director" in the world. His movies are so bad it makes Xanadu look like a masterpiece. Bo, as an actor, was quite good in "10". As amazing as it sounds. But John could not write, film or direct. That´s why Bo´s acting turned into a rotten tomato. John "I dont smile" John was a good photographer when we talk about erotic photos of Bo Derek.
