Scott's always had the ability to sing bass. Listen to Halleluia again and when you hear Avi singing the lead, Scott is filling in on bass. He's pretty badass.

@David Roberts Baritone can be officially referred to in choral settings as "Bass 1" where Avi would be classed as "Bass 2". So...no it shouldn't bother you.
I always wondered it if was Scott singing bass while Avi was singing. He's got an amazing range!! I had no idea! And I really like Matt...he's great!! That's so much, David for clarifying that!
You are all wrong... Avi's Bass part AND Singing part were recorded separately for Hallelujah so he could sing the lead and do bass at the same time. That way, when they do it live, they can drop Avi's bass part when he takes lead (or have Scott do it an octave higher and ditch his normal part). If you listen closely you can hear 5 voices singing in the background during Avi's verse in the video. That is because he is singing 2 parts there. Avi 1 million% better than Matt imo
Too many ppl don’t appreciate Matts octive drop on his solo, I love that part! Glad u noticed.
I have not seen a more shocking reaction to Matt's Octave drop at the end of his solo. Great reaction!

This is definitely one of my favorites of theirs. They HAVE changed over the years. Their voices have matured and strengthened. Especially Kirstie’s in my opinion. She did some time on broadway which I think helped. And Scott’s range has gotten broader. The new guy, Matt, is amazing. Avi left some big shoes to fill and Matt is doing a great job. He has a beautiful singing voice and he has an energy that gives PTX a new flavor. Mitch is always changing his look. I use him as a timeline. Lol. Kirstie does too but not as much. Scott and Kevin are pretty much same throughout the years. Just have gotten more handsome 😉😂 If you still want to go be back to their older stuff, all then they have “Gold”, a couple live performances for iHeart radio from the Honda stage, or their Evolutions (Michael Jackson or Evolution of Music I recommend). Ok that’s it. Sorry this is so long. Lol. Great reaction! ❤️👌🏽

Scott is a baritone and he always covers the bass line when the bass singer is taking the lead. And Mitch -- yeah, he's just amazing. The other new one is Come Along. Superfruit's newest one is The Promise. Would love to see you react to that. Once you start doing the Superfruit you'll get a really good enjoyment of just Mitch and Scott.. there is SO much to listen to. Love being on this journey with you!!
I loved Kirstie's part! I think it was my favorite. She is more confident now and her voice has changed a lot. Now it is so mature and her vocal range is amazing. She has gained more attention now too. She is fantastic, i love her so much!!!
You can definitely see the growth in their confidence and attitude in this one. I also suggest their other new cover of Come along. It's different and fun! Absolutely love and look forward to all your reactions!!!
You should react to Pentatonix's version of "Say Something." I think you'll love it.
Yeah, Matt's not Avi, but he's not any worse than Avi was. They are both skilled, and while they definitely have a distinct tone from each other they are each totally excellent.
Yeah, matt is a little less smooth on transitions sometimes, but he's definitely not bad lol.
Avi’s voice texture is incredible. Matt has so much passion and energy and is not only excellent, but has room to grow, which I think he is. I will always LOVE Avi, but Matt fills out the group in a beautiful way - on stage and off, which is really important as well. ❤️

He has an incredible range. Matt is also a full blown master who can go from base through tenor, so he is a wonderful addition to the group.

I saw them in concert and it is so worth it. They sound just as good live as in the videos! I don't know if anyone has mentioned it but Mitch and Scott have their own RUclips channel Superfruit. Check it out. They have come up with original songs. Such talent!
Gday mate, Happy New Year from mine to you and all of the Pentaholics. My first comment, I stumbled onto the Pentatonix just after Xmas day, I’ve spent hours listening to this music, LOVE IT. My son just walked into the house he spent New Years at a friends house he had his headphones around his neck so I snapped them up... YEAHHHHH, I had no idea what I was missing out on. Now you know the amazing growth they have accomplished, since they won the Sing Off. Lots of hard work and dedication this group has put in to get where they are, that's why we all love them so much, we all feel like we helped raise them. LoL P.S. almost forgot, Scott Hoying (PTX) and Ben Brahm put together a new all girl a capella group called Citizen Queen. They've only been out for about 2 months check out their songs No Tears Left to Cry, Never Enough and Evolution of Girl Bands.

I love your reactions. The feelings that you get listening is what most of us also feel. They take your breath away. Not sure if you have done it, but I like New Rules.
Scott Hoying, even when Avi was in the group, still provided back up bass when Avi would be singing lead on things. He has a huge range and can get pretty low as well.

Yes, I agree, We all need some PTX in our day everyday! Love it! They are great at matching their attitude to the tone of each song. Have you seen Say Something yet? It’s heartbreaking!
"The new guy... Matt" LOL! He's the new guy still after 18 or so months... I think he's awesome in this song and in "Come Along". BUT, take a look at their original song "Run to You". It took me about ten repeats after I stopped crying while listening to it. And it has Avi (though Matt's great too). For a more up-beat original song: "Sing!"
PS. I just love how shocked you are every time when a PTX song ends. :D
PS2. Did you notice how Scott did the base line when Matt had the lead part?

Great reaction! I would still try to catch up with all the Avi classics, but anything from their last album/tour with Matt is good too. Avi left in 2017 and they had to regroup a little. There is a cover of Dancing on my Own with just the trio and KO on the cello that worth a watch. They took Matt on a Christmas tour and in 2018 he was in! I saw them on tour last summer. Wonderful energy and they seemed to be a little more colorful than they were when I saw them in Nov of 2016. Of course, they are always changing looks......especially Mitch and Kirstie. "new" Pentatonix to react to: New Rules/Are you that Somebody, Havana, Evolution of Rianna, Where are you Christmas.
This was the first Pentatonix song I heard and I was immediately hooked

Yeah, they're all grown up now. Well, kind of, they're mostly in their mid twenties, 😂. There's still so much more for you to see. Did you say one time that you like country music? I might be wrong there, but they did a collaboration with Dolly Parton that's great. They won one of their Grammy's for this one (but don't be shocked, Mitch is bald). And if you search "PTX Elvira" there's a short clip of them at a music awards show singing a verse of Elvira that's really good. Both something to see, even if you don't like country music 🤷🏻♀️. Yeah they have changed so much or I should say they have gotten more confident in themselves and there voices have grown so much over the years. Yeah Mitch changes his style quite often, he is very in to fashion that’s his other passion
They are all amazing. I love the passion and effort they put into their music. I feel Kevin doesn't get the praise he deserves. He is so multi-talented and in my opinion is the backbone of the group.
Thank you for your reaction I really enjoyed it. As much as I love their cover of Hallelujah and the video I really think oh, no I don't think this is, my favorite of them all. From the first note that leaves Scott mouth it just reaches up out of the screen and grabbed you. And it has not let go of me ever since.

PTX has really changed over the years from way back when Scott, Kirsten and Mitch were in high school together. That was when the kids made fun of Mitch's voice. Look who's laughing now. Mitch has the voice of an angel!!! They all have attitude now!!

I am absolutely loving your reactions to Pentatonix videos and I’m also enjoying your enthusiasm and all your emotions that you show while watching the videos. I can’t wait for more pentatonix videos. You should also watch their projects that they have done separately with Scott and Mitch making Superfriut, Kirsten with herself and Avi by himself as well. They have done these projects each while away from touring or making albums for Pentatonix and they are just as good.

I agree with you on this one. This is one of my favorites along with sing, grown up Christmas list, hallelujah, imagine and daft punk. It's very hard for me to pick. Pentatonix hits a special place in my heart and I've wanted to see them on tour for a while now. I've only just started watching your channel(like a couple days) and I already love you! Plus your accent is amazing! Can you react to Sing and Grown up Christmas list both by Pentatonix though? It would mean a lot to me if you did.
Another great reaction! Nothing replicates the sound they can produce. About the tattoos - Mitch is heavily tatted. Scott now has a partial sleeve and Kirstie has several along with piercings. Their “look” has matured over the years.
Their renditions stay with you. And you find you have to hear them again. There are other acapella groups that are good. But these folks have a unique way of putting their twist on covers like no one else. And their original songs are SO good. You need to check out some of the offerings from "The Lucky Ones" album if you haven't already.

Again, great job :-) You might like seeing the ones they've put out since Matt joined - "New Rules x Are You That Somebody " "Havana" and "Attention" would be good to start - if you like their fun covers of offbeat songs, "Making Christmas" "What is This Feeling" and the new "Come Along" would be the way to go

Yeah, I heard this as soon as they released it, before the video. I thought that Matt was starting off and that he was having voice trouble..., and that Scott took over as the range went up. Then I saw the video upon release and really felt foolish.... Oh you know they're going down under again, they just haven't released the dates or locations yet, prolly still getting everything set for each leg of the tour as this will most likely be another 18 month tour like their "On my way home" tour. Speaking of, you really need to watch that documentary. Their first major tour around the world, you'll be amazed at the work they did on the road. Concerts, recording another album while on the road.... Lol. When I heard Matt one the first song they released with him as bass, I thought "Maybe I could reach in and turn the buzz down a bit and the bass up just a notch", then the second song with him started off with his bass blowing my freaking socks off mate. I realized he is extremely talented at such an early age and is a perfect fit with the other 4. He fits in just as if he was meant to..., which he is of course. Personally I'd say bounce around from newer music to older music. Anything from their new album would be awesome, "Despacito x Shape of you", if you really want to hear Kirstie turn the "Sexy" up a few hundred notches (Listened to that one day for nearly 12 hours straight).... Hey, don't judge... Lol. Peace, Love and Light mate.

Yep, attitude tempered by a true humbleness. I don't know who their dresser/costumer is, or if it is just them, but they are one of the best dressed groups out there. Very cutting edge (especially Mitch) but always classy. And Kirsten has gone from a cute young lady to a gorgeous woman.
