easy fix for the one with the broken screen is to swap it with a screen from a laptop that isnt working. Also the one laptop that powers on but has no display may be because of a dead backlight on the panel.
VitaliiDaGamer it's actually eBay. You have to start a case and if the seller refuses then eBay steps in. PayPal is just responsible for the money transfer.
Some of these won't be too hard to fix, one only needs a HDD, the one with the broken key board you can take the keyboard from the one that won't power on and hope it works, the one with the broken screen you can take the screen from the one that won't boot, and the one that boots with a black screen you can hope is just a RAM issue or the display connector is lose. That's 4 laptops from one salvage, not bad for $70.
Wikipedia says: "A computer cluster consists of a set of loosely or tightly connected computers that work together so that, in many respects, they can be viewed as a single system." It's basically combining the computing power of all of them.
This is the perfect moment to try to make a full working laptop from these five pieces of trash... Keyboard and mouse from one, HDD from another, you know, something like a puzzle. By the way, nice video man!
To fix the broken connector for something like the power button, the keyboard etc on the motherboard, take a plastic straw, cut the desired length and then push it under the cable so it's pushing the cable into the connector. You can use something like a plastic straw, a business card, some plastic see -through packaging or pretty much and strong but flexible plastic that you can cut. I've used this method to fix dozens of 'bricked' motherboards for laptops and it can be frustrating but it's a lot cheaper than buying a new board. You actually didn't do too bad with this purchase to be fair, get a few screens for these guys and you could have 2 or 3 working laptops. Good luck fixing them bud, would be sick to see how you go about fixing them, try to fix as many without spare parts as you can using methods like the one I described.
you should be able to get maybe 3 of them working fine if you mix and match from the broken computers the once that do power on but dosnt give display and the once with broken display see if they work with a monitor. if they do then you know the motherboard ram and cpu works, but maybe the display dosent or the connector has been damages. The once that dont power on maybe the display works so you could take the motherboard from one that had a broken screen but worked with a 2nd display and put in if you're lucky then you have 1 fully working there, then just repeat that and maybe you got 3 working for 75$ which is still good :)
If you used paypal you can get your money back through reporting the seller to ebay. Often the seller then deletes his account quick to "dissapear". This makes it a good case for the buyer as 1 they get the money back and 2 they get to keep the product. If you didn't buy with paypal still contact ebay most of the time you will get your money back.
Sometimes things go better than this, got a pile of laptop parts and being the only bidder got them for 1$ then got a mobo bundle for $5. All in all talking on a laptop that cost me $1.25 :P
Well I have a shitty laptop: - Intel Celeron D 220 1.2GHz Single Core - 2 GB DDR2 800MHz RAM - SiS Mirage 3 Graphics - Windows 7 Ultimate SP0 32bit The battery is dying and some of the keys are either missing or don't work. It was working until today, where at first it refused to shut off, then when I held down the power button, it shut off, but wouldn't turn back on, while it still had the light on the power button glowing. I'm just gonna let it run down it's charge and then try it again.
Hey RandomGaminginHD you should do a series of "top 5 best price to value graphics cards from year so and so", I think itd be a great idea to sum up great cards from a certain year, analyze their specs against each other and and their prices nowadays. Anyways, enjoying your vids and keep up the good work!
Nice wallpaper. Oh, even if they don't work, you can get more than your money's worth in just the parts. Disc drives, hard drives, RAM, network cards...
Well, if you don't get your money back (seriously, good luck with that) you could use parts from the dead/partially functioning ones and make one or two fully working Frankenstein laptops. That's not bad for $75...
I have a suggestion 4 U. Try and go to these places- 1 Thrift Stores. 2 Yard Sales. 3 Flea Markets. 4 Pawn Shops. 5 Antique Stores. I have gone to these places and have found some pretty neat stuff mostly video game related. U can also score computers at these places. I have seen a few older computers, monitors and other goodies at my local Salvation Army. My best find ever was an $8 GameCube at Salvation Army that was fully functional and had no problems with it. That is Y if U want to really budget, then these R the go 2 places 4 U. U should also start a new series where U go to these places and buy things and film these places with your camera.
Really I Wish You See This - You Are One Of The Best Definitely Without Any Doubts - Really An Awesome Channel That Provides Very Very Good Content And Reviews And You Are Hitting The Best Bargains Here And There :'''D I Wanted To Thank You So Much For This Channel And Keep Going Further And Further With No Turning Back Sorry For Bad English - Hope You Good Health After All
Always check the charger first. I once bought a laptop with a custom charger the output was 31v and the laptop needed voltage was 18v. Before I realized that the laptop died.
I recall a time when I bought two HP ProBook laptops from a local thrift store as-is for $2.70 each(I named them Mike and Ike). One of the laptops did not work(eventually I narrowed down the problem to the motherboard), but the other one seemed to be fully functional(though locked with a bios password that I was eventually able to reset). That is, after I installed some ram, as it came with none.
These look cool, even damaged. I've paid 15 bucks for my last laptop. It had an intel atom, GMA 3150, 2gb ddr3 ram and 120 gb HDD with more bad blocks than storage on it.
You should know eBay buyer protection is phenomenal, you could easily get a refund if you wanted. Im sure you know, but there really is next to no risk buying on eBay so long as you know a bit about how the site works
or he can just insert hdd there, and replace screen on the one that turns on , so it will be 3 laptops already. The hardest one that turns on but got black screen, i'd suggest to take screen from it (if it works) and replace the shattered one.
I dunno to me this looks like a hidden gem, sounds like loads of fun to fix them up, one of them only needs a hard drive, and each one is probably worth about £50+ if you fix em so not too shabby.
First one might just need new RAM Second is most likely dead since it won't even power on (Can be used for parts for the others) Third just needs a HDD ofc Fourth can use the screen of the second laptop (assuming it works) Last one might be drivers, or you can use the trackpad and keyboard from the second laptop.
2 weeks ago I bought a Asus X551MA laptop from a local facebook page for 10 pounds. The seller said the motherboard could be fried as the thing wouldn't turn on, I opened it up at home only to realise the power button was disconnected from the motherboard. Checked on ebay and they go for around 160 pounds, very good deal if you ask me :D
The one with a broken screen is definitely a broken screen, water damage doesn't leave the distinctive point of damage like what was shown on the screen. I can tell because of how it looks, I've seen many cases of both and this is definitely not water damage.
I work in tech retail and i can guarantee these are probably 5 old warranty cases or DOAs that the shop, or supplier was never able to process within the manufacturers accepted time frame. So probably instead they're hocked off for any price on a secondary account as stated in the video.
you should check out those SODIMM to LODIMM adapters from eBay. it allows you to take Laptop ram from scrap laptops and makes it usable on the desktop.
Sellers without feedback can be good aswell. I recently sold a new motherboard on ebay (new because it originally broke down and I got a replacement, but I sold that). It was my first sale ever, meaning I had no reputation yet, no ratings, nothing. However, I now have one positive rating on my account that came from this purchase. So the moral of the story is: If someone hasn't had any feedback yet, it may be because they're simply new to ebay (or wherever you're buying).
For future reference, clean the dust/"dirt"/debris away first before powering on the computer, dust can build up static or conduct and short something.
Take the lid off the one that does nothing and put it on the one with the damaged display. The totally dead one may also be a good donor for keyboard and the touchpad, which will likely involve swapping the entire case top. Should be able to get three of the 5 working.
You can combine the laptops parts, use the motherboard from the laptop with the broken screen and put it in one that doesn't work. Swap the hard drive from one to the one without and you could end up with three working laptops
In my opinion this is far from a bad deal. You can mix them up and still get at least 2 of them fully working . You can also sell the remaining parts. All in all, with a bit of luck and patience, you could earn more than what you've actually spent.
You could take the hard drive of one of the laptops, and put it in another. If you have an issue woth Windows key, reset it. You'll get one working laptop out of it and could use the rest for spare parts.
I'm a student of Computer Science in Dominican Republic and i have a couple of diagnostics for your laptops: #1: Maybe a problem with the ram, usually it doesnt show video when it happens, in the worst case is the integrated graphics card or the display has something wrong at all. #2: I dont have any idea about what is the problem with this one, no without looking inside first and testing... i think is the processor. #3: That's very simple, dont need to explain. #4: Amm... the same up. #5: As you said, just fix the connectors or replace them.
its actually meant for people who have the tools to repair it or for spare parts for other repairs. If you watch louis rossmann on youtube you can learn how but it does cost a large initial investment to have your own electronics repair shop.
the first laptop probably just has a loose connector inside. You should try turning it on, and shine a light in the screen and see if there is anything visible at all. if you can see something, it's likely a problem with the backlight (especially if they aren't LED). This has happened to me before on several laptops were the connector for the screen pops loose and just needs to be reseated.
It's not just "people unloading their old stuff not caring if it works". One of these laptops had its hard drive removed, which is a task that should take a few minutes. What I'm thinking is that some stingy person/business had a bunch of broken old laptops and thought "you know what, we'll sell them, see if someone will pay us fifty quid to take that junk out of our hands."
You can most likely fix two of them with parts from the others. The one that doesn't power on most likely has a good screen, so you can swap it out, as well as the dead one, which you may most likely be able to salvage the keyboard and touchpad, maybe even the screen for the 5th one. then just get a hard drive for the one that seems to be working correctly. Even still, you managed to get a hell of a deal. You can easily double your money spent by just fixing one of them.
Maybe these laptops all have the GeForce 8600m GT inside. This graphics card was prone to failures because of bad soldering job from NVidia. You could fix it by reballing (replacing the soldering) or reflowing (the good ol' oven method). I think it's worth a try.
My opinion is that you can fix at least 2 of the laptops by recycling the parts from the rest . I feel like you actually got a pretty good deal with again at least 2 working laptops and many spare parts.
if you open them up, disassemble them and check what parts still work, and then sell the parts individually, you could make a pretty nice profit, I'm sure
Honestly, the buyer on eBay can get away with crazy risk because eBay always shafts the sellers. I've sold people motherboards and then they claim it is broken and ship back a completely different one (that is actually broken) and guess what, eBay sides with them and they keep the money and the product. With that said, you could easily open a claim on eBay and win. The seller will be forced to pay for the return shipping and will have to refund the original shipping as well. You will be out nothing but your time. If the buyer refuses to pay for the return shipping, you will keep your money and all 5 laptops.
I sadly know exactly what happened to the 4th laptop's screen. Some Object hit it at full force not shattering the glass, but the pixels behind it, causing color information to be wrongly displayed. The Object could have been anything, a first, a mouse or a cup, thrown at it in a fit of rage. Having had such an experience I have learned to be more careful with my devices. Maybe the first one can work on an external monitor, which means you could totally use it like one of those "Microcomputer" back in the day which had everything build into the keyboard, ya know... the amiga, C64, Spectrum?
You have enough parts. You made out alright. I found a near complete databank of Schematics for these laptops. I'm looking for deals like this all the time. I want the stuff that's not working. It's either parts or rebuild and sell it. I do board level repairs.
I'd try to pull the drive out of the Win10 Laptop and see if it runs in the (seemingly) working one with no drive. Maybe grab a couple more power supplies and hook one with a bad screen up to your TV as a Kodi Box.
Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. I ordered an antenna for a lower price than others were offering. The seller had a 98% rating so I thought that I had a great deal. Low and behold the seller was taken off of the sites and I have to file a claim. I ended up just ordering from another seller at the regular price and received my product. Sometimes a great deal isn't what it seems.
it would be cool for you to try and build the best/cheapest gaming pc you possibly can. use new or old parts or however you have to but build the best possible gaming machine for the lowest price you can. it would be a nice challenge to see
You could probably hack together 2-3 fully working ones, by gutting the other lot and splicing good parts together. You can swap out screens, keyboards.
I've been ripped off more often than not the past few years . Went to buying mainly on Aliexpress as a result but gave in and bought an HP z400 x58 mobo ,xeon w3565 and r9 280x used recently and I hope they're all functional.
I'm sorry they were not all functioning, but hey, if you do decide to repair them then it'll be fun, maybe you can do a destruction test on the un repairable ones/sell on parts to get your money back such as RAM or a wiped laptop HDD :)
Hey could you please do a video on the xfx R9 290x? It came out in 2013 and is still an absolute beast, running all my games on ultra at at lowest 45 frames a second, even better with new drivers. Even compare it to newer cards, I bet it'd kick ass. Great video keep up the good work man!
Don't forget to leave me positive feedback, thanks.
FuManBoobs Thanks for the laptops! They work perfectly, maybe some of them not.
FuManBoobs who the fuck are you?
Ah yes 5 Stars for 5 broken laptops 😃
FuManBoobs lol
I'm watching this on my old E1 😂😂 got it for my 12th birthday and haven't use it in ages
fixing these up should be a fun project
RandomGaminginHD if they are all the same jusy fix 1
send the broken ones to Techrax LoL
you gonna do it? please do. you can probably replace screen on the broken one, replace keyboard on the 5th one, and get a hard drive in the 3rd.
I think you will still be able to get 2 fully working laptops and a bunch of spare parts out of it, so still not that bad price..
easy fix for the one with the broken screen is to swap it with a screen from a laptop that isnt working. Also the one laptop that powers on but has no display may be because of a dead backlight on the panel.
Ebay will give you your money back. Report the seller for scamming
No shit. That's why he actually tried buying it.
VitaliiDaGamer it's actually eBay. You have to start a case and if the seller refuses then eBay steps in. PayPal is just responsible for the money transfer.
Some Person I like your pfp dad
Some of these won't be too hard to fix, one only needs a HDD, the one with the broken key board you can take the keyboard from the one that won't power on and hope it works, the one with the broken screen you can take the screen from the one that won't boot, and the one that boots with a black screen you can hope is just a RAM issue or the display connector is lose. That's 4 laptops from one salvage, not bad for $70.
true but he wants to fix these laptops :)
you should frankenstein all the working components and make a usable laptop
ShmoyoTM probably 2 or 3.
or make them into a cluster
why? a cluster?
Wikipedia says:
"A computer cluster consists of a set of loosely or tightly connected computers that work together so that, in many respects, they can be viewed as a single system."
It's basically combining the computing power of all of them.
ShmoyoTM or put them all in a desktop case.
get ebay involved and they should cover your purchase for false advertising
Mr Merhtin That's the point, though. Sending a message to find cheap stuff from reputable sellers.
Mr Merhtin 100th like lol i didnt Even read the comment xD
This is the perfect moment to try to make a full working laptop from these five pieces of trash... Keyboard and mouse from one, HDD from another, you know, something like a puzzle. By the way, nice video man!
change the title to have "GONE WRONG (GONE SEXUAL)(A PERSON DIED)
Tony ManFlash (GOT RAPED) (GOT BUTTRAPED)
Tony ManFlash beat me to it
Just put ass in the thumbnail it will work
Just make sure its a big one
comes down o personal preference at the end of the day :)
PRANK
You cheesy fuck.
You stole my idea.

there is only one hdmi output and the laptop is really slow it cant load 720p 60fps youtube videos without severe stutter
you can easily fix at least 2 or even 3 of them using the dead units as donor boards
60 quid is worth a gamble. sell all the ram sticks , motherboard , screens , keyboard , touchpad separate should get more than 60 lol
the cpu isnt even worth 10 euros
Sometimes things go better than this, got a pile of laptop parts and being the only bidder got them for 1$ then got a mobo bundle for $5. All in all talking on a laptop that cost me $1.25 :P
I gotta say, I love your good effort in your videos
Keep up the good work mate!
Presumably they all still have RAM, actually worth way more in parts.
Well I have a shitty laptop:
- Intel Celeron D 220 1.2GHz Single Core
- 2 GB DDR2 800MHz RAM
- SiS Mirage 3 Graphics
- Windows 7 Ultimate SP0 32bit
The battery is dying and some of the keys are either missing or don't work.
It was working until today, where at first it refused to shut off, then when I held down the power button, it shut off, but wouldn't turn back on, while it still had the light on the power button glowing. I'm just gonna let it run down it's charge and then try it again.
How do you use that thing? It must be so slow! Does it even play youtube videos?
but can it play crysis?
i'm certain you can find a better pc for like £40 that would be 4 time faster then that laptop dude
Can it play Metro??
Have you ever considered getting a job? Jobs pay money which can then be exchanged for goods such as a decent laptop.
Hey RandomGaminginHD you should do a series of "top 5 best price to value graphics cards from year so and so", I think itd be a great idea to sum up great cards from a certain year, analyze their specs against each other and and their prices nowadays. Anyways, enjoying your vids and keep up the good work!
That's the thing with laptops, hard to fix yourself. Desktops you can strip, mix and match, sell parts and so on.
Excellent video as always! Love your content
I like that you don't hesitate to do stuff like this, even tho it might cost you a little money and time.
Nice wallpaper. Oh, even if they don't work, you can get more than your money's worth in just the parts. Disc drives, hard drives, RAM, network cards...
Such a nice seller, he sent you spare part for your 1 almost working laptop.
Well, if you don't get your money back (seriously, good luck with that) you could use parts from the dead/partially functioning ones and make one or two fully working Frankenstein laptops. That's not bad for $75...
This feels like an official face reveal more than a bargain hunt result.

If all those displays had worked, you should've combined them into a multi-monitor seamless DIY display. That would've been epic

Precisely. Random could quite easily open a PayPal dispute, which would be resolved in his favor in no time. :3
More vieeos please!!! :D Love them
armorall does wonders for the plastics for cleaning
Rip 'em apart, do a bit of splicing and you got yourself probably 2 full working laptops and if not, you at least have 1.
and a lot of parts for sale
To be fair the best one is the one that got to the no-boot disk error. That one is probably the one that he should swap the Win 10 HD into.
or he can just insert hdd there, and replace screen on the one that turns on , so it will be 3 laptops already. The hardest one that turns on but got black screen, i'd suggest to take screen from it (if it works) and replace the shattered one.

Red yeah this pretty much.
u can harvest parts from the broken ones to fix the somewhat working ones
2 weeks ago I bought a Asus X551MA laptop from a local facebook page for 10 pounds. The seller said the motherboard could be fried as the thing wouldn't turn on, I opened it up at home only to realise the power button was disconnected from the motherboard. Checked on ebay and they go for around 160 pounds, very good deal if you ask me :D
Plenty of spare parts from that lot to fix up 2 or 3 of them. I've worked on those laptops before and they are fairly easy to swap bits out.
didn't know you showed your face in your videos but love the wall paper
Thanks for vid there is a lot of new people and this is stuff they need to know -- Also First 65 or Older
The one with a broken screen is definitely a broken screen, water damage doesn't leave the distinctive point of damage like what was shown on the screen. I can tell because of how it looks, I've seen many cases of both and this is definitely not water damage.

But how many working ones can you make from the broken parts? That's where the fun is, piece them out and Frankenstein some!
Well, if they are the same model, just mix and match parts. Connect them to external monitors. Move a screen here, hard drive there, etc.
I'm a student of Computer Science in Dominican Republic and i have a couple of diagnostics for your laptops:
#1: Maybe a problem with the ram, usually it doesnt show video when it happens, in the worst case is the integrated graphics card or the display has something wrong at all.
#2: I dont have any idea about what is the problem with this one, no without looking inside first and testing... i think is the processor.
#3: That's very simple, dont need to explain.
#4: Amm... the same up.
#5: As you said, just fix the connectors or replace them.
All look pretty easy to fix, apart from the one with the broken screen panel. Getting a new one is a nightmare.
I think it is still an excellent deal. Even if you only managed to entirely fix one laptop, it wouldn't be that bad for $70.
who needs to learn pounds to dollars conversions when you have RGinHDs videos
Grab the best parts from all of them and make a good one or two of them.
Speaking of good parts for low prices... I got my i5-6600K CPU for like £179.99 and it includes 90 day warranty. This CPU normally costs £240 - £280
its actually meant for people who have the tools to repair it or for spare parts for other repairs. If you watch louis rossmann on youtube you can learn how but it does cost a large initial investment to have your own electronics repair shop.

heck you could us the broken ones to fix the damaged ones.
I'd try to make like 3 of them work by using parts from the broken ones
You can most likely fix two of them with parts from the others. The one that doesn't power on most likely has a good screen, so you can swap it out, as well as the dead one, which you may most likely be able to salvage the keyboard and touchpad, maybe even the screen for the 5th one. then just get a hard drive for the one that seems to be working correctly.
Even still, you managed to get a hell of a deal. You can easily double your money spent by just fixing one of them.
You can still use the parts of the other notebooks on the working ones
Maybe fo a multi part series on fixing the laptops, I would find it quite interesting maybe as a side project
I bought a used gtx 570 on a auction site that turned out to be dead. Took a chance at baking it in the oven. And surprisingly it worked.
Describing these as "all working" is just simply untrue. That someone would do this just to get 60 pounds minus shipping is just crazy.
Love your videos! 👍
Can you please make a video about GTX 770, because on ebay price goes around 50-80$.
Keep up the great work!
It's not that bad. This add's to the adventure
"A recent warehouse move" liberated stock that fell off the back of a truck most likely :o
I mean on the bright side, switching the parts on these means you get 2, to 3, whole working laptops for $50 with extra parts in case they die
You should try doing a beowulf cluster using all these laptops. Because they should all work if you try a new power supply with them. Good luck :)
As an IT Technician (now network manager) they seem like easy fixes. I reckon you can get at least 3 of them working.
Sometimes a great deal isn't what it seems.
holy shit i used to own one of those older models, was my first pc. now im viewing this with a gtx 1060 and an fx 8320. Times change man
it would be cool for you to try and build the best/cheapest gaming pc you possibly can. use new or old parts or however you have to but build the best possible gaming machine for the lowest price you can. it would be a nice challenge to see
Even a good reputation can't save you from scam. My dad bought an Android tablet with truck navigation app. It died after 3 days.
GTA SA is probably the best GTA ever, with fewer glitches and bugs, had a lot of fun with friends back in the days, RUclips wasn't even a thing
For starters you could take the LCD from the dead one and put it on the smashed one.
You could probably hack together 2-3 fully working ones, by gutting the other lot and splicing good parts together.
You can swap out screens, keyboards.
Are you planning to try the ones with screen issues with external components? Keyboard, mouse, monitor I mean.
I've been ripped off more often than not the past few years . Went to buying mainly on Aliexpress as a result but gave in and bought an HP z400 x58 mobo ,xeon w3565 and r9 280x used recently and I hope they're all functional.
How does one get ripped off on ebay? It's has a money back guarantee
You could use the second laptop's display on the first one.
I'm sorry they were not all functioning, but hey, if you do decide to repair them then it'll be fun, maybe you can do a destruction test on the un repairable ones/sell on parts to get your money back such as RAM or a wiped laptop HDD :)
Choose the one with the best condition and repair it using the 4 laptops that you have. It would be really cool to see how it works out.
In my thrifting and Craigslisting experience, that is by no means a "too good to be true" price. You simply got scammed.
Also on most cheap aced laptops it's very very easy to fix the keyboard
