Thank you
Yeah great show but WAY too heavy with the ad's.
I'm here for George and Johann's perspective, recollection and experience, tbh.
I watched this stage live in Paris and there were other security precautions on l'Alpe d'Huez that US Postal and the French Gendarmerie took in order to protect Lance that weren't addressed here. One was the decision for Lance NOT to wear a helmet or even a cap. You'll notice other riders wearing caps and some helmets. Not Lance. They thought that if he were to wear a helmet or a cap that might entice people to throw things at him. Secondly, of the two motorcycles leading Lance up the Alp d'Huez, you'll notice that one of them has two riders and it is unmarked. Both riders are wearing civilian clothing with no markings -- they are both undercover police officers. The passenger on the second, unmarked motorcycle was a specially trained sharpshooter of the French Gendarmerie. This all came out in the news either during the climb of Alpe d'Huez or just afterwards. I may also have read it in L'Equipe. It was a stressful stage and we all knew that Lance was in danger. Thankfully it went well. Very well.
Thanks for the info.
Lance wore a cap on the Alpe d'Huez mountain TT a few days later.
@@zoso73 My message referred specifically to the Time Trail stage on Alp d'Huez. You see Lance start the stage wearing a US Postal cap (probably to fulfill a sponsorship obligation with US Postal) but in the next clip, just a minute or two later, the blue US Postal cap is gone from his head. During the climb Lance's head was bare -- no cap and no helmet -- and this was a strategic plan (according to French media that day and in the days that followed) to keep Lance safe. The second motorcycle was unmarked with two undercover cops in regular civilian clothes.
@@greatpariscars ok, got it. Yes, he started the ITT up Alpe but shortly after he started the cap was gone. There was a lot of hate on both sides of the road along all those switch-backs. I'm sure that motivated him, not that he needed it.
sweet background. Thank you
I think Johan can remember each rider's favorite gel flavor....
I am the mechanic that forgot to put the 27 tooth in the bag for Shanna Armstrong , but she too had the legs and a low cadence , I followed her up the Izoard idling the little diesel truck in 1st gear and she stood on the Big Ring until the grade got over 9% , She made the 25tooth work and brought home a World Jersey, LeTour Ultime '07 !
38:37 "wait. Didnt you say you where racing on Saturday?" Hysterical!
Tyler I think was going through a lot of stuff this year. His golden retriever died during the Tour, and he also shot himself up with improperly stored blood and his bloodstream was filled with dead red blood cells and he had all sorts of effects from that.
Tyler was a monster.
His doctor actually transfused him with someone else’s blood. He found out later that his doctor’s assistant had been suffering w dementia, smh.
I was such a fan back then, and to see the three of you sit there, joke and tell stories makes me forget about all the crap that is happening in the world today. It fills my heart with warmth. Keep riding, and keep doing these shows. P.S. how do you spell Pan a kuch en ?
Pannenkoek. It literally means a Dutch pancake but in slang it's like referring to a loser.
@SEAL CYCLE Well, maybe if Tyler hadn't written his tell-all book that he didn't need to write, Johan wouldn't be referring to him as a pannenkoek.
Thanks men really enjoyed the shows, look forward to theTour!
Jan going up Alpe Dhuez in TT position is so iconic
Voeckler was epic. He was riding like the winner when he wore that jersey, a feat he would repeat 10yrs later
51:35-that awkward Sheryl Crow moment.
Hahahajja
This is Awesome. Typical Lance moment. When in doubt use word awesome. I actually like that. At least Lance is not prosperous anymore. Hahah
And Lance said that he had forgotten she was even there . Ouch
that was hilarious
Completely enjoyed the Blue Train videos, nice job all 4 of you! Hope to see yall during The Tour. Peace be with you.
Tyler Hamilton, stage 16 in 2003, didn’t look like a “panacoocan” to me! 150km solid! But another great video lance!
Agree 100%
*panakuchen
Lance please don't stop now, we need more.😥
Not going to show the 2005 MOUNTAIN stage that George won at St Lary Soulan?
Thanks fellas, awesome series. Hope you don't stop at 7, so many highlights from the 7 wins
Sad to see these shows end. Thanks for helping us fans relive these great moments!
Thank you for this mini series!!
I'm so happy Johan mentioned Armstrong, Heras and Beloki on the Tourmalet! That was an epic stage, pity they didn't cover it.
Great Show! THANKS GUYS!!
Pro cyclists spend more time at lactate than any other sport, the hardest sport without doubt, these guys may not have been clean, but they suffered like mad and rode the distance, brilliant tour
I know these guys were doped to the gills, but George should have won a monument. Loyal lieutenant to this day . Guy who made his money and knows what side his bread is buttered on. We get that Lance "destroyed" his competition. Maybe do an episode with straight faces about George's win on the queen stage of Le Tour. That would be fun.
@Kevin Skipper Hourly? Not quite sure what you mean by that question. I am most definitely not a hater. I couldn't be further from being a fan of Lance Armstrong, but like I have said in previous posts, I find the show very interesting to watch. I have a background in cycling and have been fascinated by the saga and the lies and the threats etc. etc. But I have also praised the guy for getting back into the saddle, so to speak. You might want to reference check by, you know, reading what I wrote. Also keep in mind that when someone uploads a broadcast for public consumption they assume that unless getting blocked entirely, viewers have the opportunity to offer their thoughts. That's the beauty of RUclips. Sometimes the channel host responds to questions like, say, motor-doping, and sometimes they don't . That's their right. You see, Kevin, it's a two way street. I got distracted and realize I'm on a bit of a rant, so I'll try to sum this up quickly. Lance hosts a broadcast for the viewing public. Viewers have every right to comment. If the comments are negative, it has nothing to do with their emotional state. I mean, I would like to get laid a bit more, but otherwise I'm a content individual. Now getting back to your original question, if it means what I think it means I'm curious why you took the time to hurl accusations and condescending remarks to a total stranger. Are you just an asshole?
@Kevin Skipper Hey, at least we have something in common -- being an asshole. I know Lance doesn't care about what I say, so why would you come to his defence? He's getting views by anyone who tunes in. Your suggestion that I am a hater for offering criticism is like saying a movie critic is hateful for writing a bad review. p.s. Please re-read what I said about motor doping. I asked a question. I did not in any way say I knew for a fact that motor doping was common-place. You know, questions are what curious people ask. Now hopefully Lance gives you props for coming to the defence of someone he doesn't care about. Maybe he'll float you one of those wristbands! Good luck!
@Kevin Skipper Hey man, it's time to wrap this conversation up. There are plenty of sources to go to if you wish to look up the possibility of motor doping in the pro peloton. Amateurs, too. One rider was caught doing so. I'll just leave this by saying you remind me of a guy I met in Prague back in 2001. We sort of hit it off by talking about going to watch a stage of Le Tour. Everything was going well until I said "You know Lance is doping, right?" His demeanour changed in a split second and it looked like he wanted to clock me. I knew immediately that our plans to attend the Tour evaporated in a split second. The guy came up with a ton of ways to say I was off my rocker and how dare you say something like that, etc. etc. Never underestimate ego and the desire to become famous while making tens of millions along the way. You might be surprised the lengths that a lot of people will go to achieve the goal. Sincerely, all best and keep the rubber side down
LOOOOOOL @ George pointing out "didn't you just race this weekend?" ahahahahahaha, love hearing George and Lance bust each others balls.
well Lance only has one ball...
@@goldstandard818 collectively they have 3. I feel balls, plural, is still accurate.
I love the competitive relationship of Lance and George
Nice job gentlemen. Enjoyed the show. Ride to the level of your smile.☀️🚴♂️😃
This was great guys, this whole series. Ive loved going out and snatching KOMs after work then relaxing and watching you guys and these classic clips. Can’t wait for THE Tour.
Guys, can you do some more of those highlights throughout August as well?
It is kind of addictive, to tell you the truth.
Really enjoyed the commentary, the interviews and the footage, great job..
I remember all this at the time, so glad to see Ekimov. It was a great exciting time for cycling, the team. Johan Bruyneel had lots of time to analize while he rode in the car behind the pelaton. Lance, every time you ask, he remembers because you were busy riding and he was sitting behind you. His job.
What happened to Bruyneel's neighbour barking dog?? .. I miss it now .. Thank you all for the 7 episodes. Gracias desde Argentina !
I gurss it was Johan's barker..
:D
Lance had a talk with him. You could see he was annoyed by it as was I.
Looking forward to all of your TDF shows; thanks for giving us something fun and interesting to watch in this weird time...
Overall another great review of 7 time just dominating💪Good job guys thanks again Lance, George,Johan, and JB
The only stage I've ever been to in person was that Alpe d'Huez TT in '04. Was a broke grad student and slept in a farmer's field. But what an epic stage! Something like a million people on the mountain that day. Remember the crowd going nuts when Lance passed Basso.
Love watching the back and forth between you guys.
I wish Lance had made amends with Floyd at some point. It would be great to have him as a guest for the next episode which I assume is the stage where Lance stole the win from Klodi. But, they could also have Klodi on as a guest, that would be interesting too.
Hamilton too. Johan & Lance have learned nothing in the past 8 years. They want people to forgive them for their past but are unwilling to do the same for the people that brought their downfall. George is the most liked because he keeps it classy.
Thats never going too happen..Floyd and Tyler threw lance under the bus,to actually say it nicely.Couple of PANACOOCENS!!!
Lance deserves everything he got. You treat people poorly, it’s going to come back to you someday.
@@jonmeals "Oh your being a bullie please don't bullie people" "oh oh"😂😂😂
I'm sorry but Floyd doesn't deserve too be in the same sentence as Lance let alone having him on as a guest...just sayin
I ride a USPS Trek 5500 to this day... I don't know HOW or what I would ever replace it with! USPS kit is awesome.
41:05 Lance. "There Bullies.. I feel bullied..Ivan don't let them bullie me"😂😂 Dude I was laughing my ass off.Good stuff
So Lance was imitating Bobby Julich?
I remember watching this as a kid. The German commentators were speculating, wether Lance would gift the win, but once they saw him closing the zip of his jersey they knew that he would take the win. Its all about the picture :)
It's true that Lance created the best era in cycling. All the haters destroyed it. It's been said before but ALL the other sports where doping is and was just as prolific never took the hit.
That was fun! Thanks guys! Fingers crossed for TdF.
Thanks boys!
Awesome show but calm down on the ad's.Holy balls. Way too much!
"Did you pin a number on?" Too funny!
Love the show! Looking forward to the Tour...hopefully it'll happen. Make everything legal, then nobody cheats...better cycling through chemistry!
Lance, you gotta make at least another episode for the stage to Courchevel of the 2005 Tour.
Mad props for these episodes!
greetings from germany to Lance. Great human, one of the greatest cyclists ever. loved these duels with Jan all years round. Please go on with these stuff from your years on top!
Am I right in saying that cycling hasn't been the same since Lance's time used to be much more exciting. 🤔🤔
I have felt the same way for a long time now.👍
Saved the best for last! Fellas, the blue train vids were awesome. Brought back great memories for me & for that I thank you. Also, Johan’s hat is cool looking & I called a few people on group rides “pannekoeken.” LMAO.
Merckx was punched on the Puy de Dome, not kicked on the Alpe. -U10
Punched on the dome not kicked in the alps? Not kneed in the powerball?
LOL, Lance done turned into Billy Mays here!
George got some new ISP. 👍
Nice job Lance!

Brady and Gronk gonna be GOOD!!!!!
Lance: 'we were always looking for ways to improve....'
Yup.
These guys rock!!
29:57 - Lance "fucking hate it" when someone keep going up the climb after the leader but then.. 2009 Lance chasing Contador. Not professional by his standards
Alpe Huez was epic!
About Merckx 49.30: The fourteenth stage had its finish on top of the Puy de Dôme. When Merckx was about to catch Joop Zoetemelk, a French spectator punched Merckx in the stomach.Zoetemelk did not capitalize and gain time on Merckx because of this as they crossed the finish line with the same time 0:49 behind stage winner Van Impe, who did win some time over the rest of the field together with Thevenet who came in a few seconds behind Van Impe.
After the rest day, the fifteenth stage would end in Pra-Loup. Merckx was still the leader, and escaped from the rest. But on the final climb, Merckx was out of energy, (probably due the hit in the stomach a day earlier) and Thévenet was able to reach Merckx two kilometers from the finish, leave Merckx behind, and win with a margin of two minutes.Thévenet was the new leader, and improved his margin in the sixteenth stage by winning with more than two minutes on Merckx.
While riding to the start of the seventeenth stage, Merckx collided with Ole Ritter, and broke a cheekbone. Merckx' broken cheekbone gave him problems with eating, and the Tour doctor gave him the advice to abandon the race. Merckx decided to stay in the race, because of the prize money for his teammates that his second place in the general classification and other classifications would earn them. He regrets it now that he continued.
fun watch: determination x passion = gold
If there is a tour/documentary I hope ye come to Girona - The cycling town that Lance built.
Lance & George & Eki ... any any chance you could trust Anyone outside of honored BlueTrain and follow the wheel as close again at 65km/h ? Cheers 🍻
Great series of podcast
From the "You're the Man!" story to Lance mentioning the chalked up Lance sucks and Fuck Lance.. frikkin' hillarious! XD 1:09:50
Fun video. But Tyler Hamilton is not a pannekoek.

The Powerdot thing is interesting, especially with the new Strava connection. I wonder if you have to have the paid version of Strava in order to take advantage of this collaboration, or whether it can take data it needs from the free version too?
The constant attacks on Tyler Hamilton! Pannakook Hahaha. Thank you so much for the coverage. Good memories. Love you guys. Big George is the boss!
Someone's selling your missing readers on ebay? ;-)
Dem glasses! It’s official, Lance is an old granny 😂

@hincapie - thank God he has new internet or changed his location.
Now that George has GoFundMe bucks coming for his internet connection, how about a UCI GoFundMe? How much of a payoff do they need to take away Lance's asterisks (and to stay bought this time)?
Are gonna get a promo code for the new Karoo 2? I'm waiting for the drop!! Please hurry.

1:11:40 rip their balls off.... Lance reads it 16 years later.... 16 years.... People who wrote that would have never imagined while painting it that it would be only in 2020 that Armstrong would read that.....

Sorry, Lance, but before your cancer, you wouldn't have done better than 47 or 48 minutes for that TT (and yes, it was with doping).... Without doping, maybe 51-52 minutes.... So, now? 1h10? 1h15? I remember when you were passed by by the big mig during a TT at the tour de France....
