Middle of the summer and Lance has a fire going ... he doesn't give a F*ck ... love it
Fu**N A! 7!
Like Georgie said, inconsistencies. and its good to speak openly about those time. What happened back then, was the manifestation of the previous decades.
Inspired many.helped many with cancer . Raised over 500 million. Made money for a lot of brands and people. Yea , he was part of a messy time but dominated the rest who were doing the same. All of them. As a poster boy he got the heat. A bit arrogant and took forever to come clean but changed cycling for sure. Everyone took on a bike at that time and started paying attention . And the pod is top. Keep it up
Hearing the intro riff again after a year was extremely fucking comforting lmao - Thanks for putting this together WEDU Team!
I love it you guys just made my year by putting this up. I'll say it myself...'Fuck Yeah"
No one is as loyal to a sponsor as Lance.
“Nobody ever came to get em.. so I just got em, I keep em..” #legend
Keep em man you fucking earned every one of them. Good for you to display your trophy’s
yes, even Lance should get his title back as all guys like Floyd and Jan etc.
Performance enhancing drugs were a part of the tour ever since.....
3 weeks of suffering with one epic climb after the other can’t be done with water and bread!
Also i think life long banning should be forbidden-it’s you take away the life of the rider when you prevent him from doing the sport he loves so much and he NEEDS SO MUCH.
You just can’t wipe out one of the most iconic riders of all times. The other GC riders just did the same, other wise they weren’t competitive
I'll always appreciate what you all did for cycling in America and why you were over there racing and thinking we were just watching college football I was watching every race and trying as a kid to emulate you all in cycling with great passion. It was awesome to see you guys dominate in Europe the way you did! I live in Chicago and there will never be another Bulls team like with Michael Jordan in my lifetime and I believe they'll never be another Lance Armstrong in cycling in my life time 👍
I still go back and watch those 7 Tours. I don’t go back and watch last years tour.
Those seven years we’re excited years in cycling. Those tours glued me to the tv. Now I have no problem taking a piss and not waiting for a commercial.
I absolutely agree...
Where do you watch them?
man the 2019 tour was awesome! You're older and more jaded now, that's why you find it less exciting. Nostalgia is why you find 99-05 better (or you're an american homer)
That's probably because you are American. I remember watching the tour during those 7 years and being bored as hell from having absolutely no suspense at all. Last year TDF was 10 times better than any of the Armstrong era.
Fabien - it was good, you are right.
Guys, i am over weight but love my bikes, if i feel like sitting on the sofa, i just watch Lance cycle up that bloody mountain after falling off.. gets me out on my bike up my 300ft hill looking like a fat bee in yellow and black, you still inspire and keep me cycling. Do not be ashamed of who you are and what happened, talking us through the old days and events is good for your souls and keeps us all motivated :) Dance like Lance
1999-2005. The best 7 years July ever produced. Great American (Texas) kid come-back again and again and again and again and etc...you get the picture! Thanks Lance and the Long Blue Line.
Lance and the Blue Train enlightened the States to cycling. I was lucky to see him ride the Tour DuPont in 96. Thanks for everything you have done! #legend
You guys made July the best month of the year, thanks for sharing!
WEDU team, thanks for posting this! Great memories, I was still pretty young during the '99 race but I remember these great memories. Lance and George were the ones that help me fall in love with cycling and 20+ years later still in love with it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Le Texan for life!
So thank you lance, you are the reason i ride my bike my bike every second i can.
I love this! Thanks for having this discussion for us. So awesome!
Remember that time in 1999 I was living in Redlands California and witnessed a lot of fantastic bike racing. We all skip to work as often as possible just rode so much back then so this was such a treat to watch. In fact this was the era when Jonathan vaughters won the Redlands classic and may have actually been 19 or 18. Thanks for the great memories guys.
Just GREAT AND SIMPLE Thanks!
Fantastic insight, as always. Really love these group retrospectives. Thank you.
Love you Lance! YOU earned all 7
Watching from Flagstaff, AZ
Epic podcast, so good to hear the insider thoughts. Pumped for the rest!!! Thanks guys
Hi Guys, Excellent commentary as always. That Passage du Gois was insane. I recall on several previous shows Lance would say something to effect: always be on the front so you can avoid those chaotic crashes.
PLEASE KEEP THESE COMING!! (And no need to ever apologize or qualify this era of cycling again.)
Thank you gentlemen. Enjoy the show. Off to ride my bike. Ride to the level of your smile.
All great memories Lance!
Lance and all.....Thanks so much for doing this.....It's Great!!!
This series is a brilliant idea.
Just finished watching Blue Train #1. Brilliant footage and commentary by you guys. Keyboard warriors, go watch something else. As my late Mother used to say, 'if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all'.
Great episode guys..., will always see you as the greatest team of all time and appreciate the humility regarding the time of the sport. Now that it’s been said, move on and enjoy the discussions.
Really enjoyed this frank and truthful recollection of the 1999 Tour.
Great show!!! Please keep it up and always look forward to the future shows!!!!!
Still a fan....hang in there guys:)
Good to hear from you gents. Totally understand the need to dope. For me all of it was amazing as a fan. I'm pleased to see honesty after the fact too, along with some remorse. We can't change the past, lets hope the future is as exciting and clean.
Glad to see u back on!!
Thanks so much for this, some of my favourite TdF memories
No need to apologize for, or explain, the past at this point. Anyone old enough to have watched these years, and to have been inspired by them, should also be mature enough by now to see it all through the lens of reality. History is messy. All history. If you were directly affected and impacted by any of it, then far be it from me to weigh in on any of the specifics. But if you were only a fan and your feelings are still hurt, grow up. Savor the good memories, and learn from the mistakes and errors that others made. I, for one, am thoroughly enjoying all the content being provided by the above personalities. What happened, happened. Yet I'm not about to turn my back on all the insight offered from those who lived it, whether I agree with everything that took place or not. In much the same way the many people are intrigued by the inner-workings of ex-criminals or former military adversaries, hearing and learning about what went on, and why, is immeasurably valuable to anyone with an open mind. In this case, it's only sports, after all. Enjoy the show, and let's not take ourselves too seriously. I look forward to more of these.
youre the goat lance
@lance Plenty of people still support you and WEDU! And yes YOU ARE still relevant!
Hi Lance, you ALL put in the work, the very hard work and made em all look like weekend warriors.
Loved it. Thank you
Lance is a great communicator !
Great job guys! Favorite stage of all time that I can watch over and over is Sestrieres. :)
Absolutely loved this show. 👍
TDF from 99 to 05 was amazing. So many memorable stages. I will never forget the insane amount of people on Alpe d’Huez during the 04 TT.
good that you guys are finally back. Johan looks pretty well seems that he made it well thru these hard times in Spain...
Johan is right about the era. They are still juiced.
Brothers of US Postal Blue Train: this is just so cool watching and listening to all of you, I’m proud to have been such a big fan of that team!, got me and so many into cycling, which turned so many things in my life a right direction. This was a great idea,. Love all 4 of ya, look forward to the next! God bless
Good to see the crew talking about cycling again. Come on TDF!
This is gold!
Even though Lance took drugs to help, he still had to push the pedals around at the end of the day and work hard physically and mentally to get to the top level that he did. Nice vid Lance!!! 👍
Love your show!!!
I hear, there is a bicycle shortage around the WORLD ??? Right now?WOW!!!!!!! Hasn't happened since the 70's. All kinds of reasons to buy a bike!!! The biggest CRAZE WORLDWIDE, RIGHT NOW !!!!
I don't know about you all , but when I think bikes, I think of these guys!!!
=) The Worlds Best!!! =) 7
Thank you for sharing! !!!
LOVE THEIR SHOW!!!!!!
P.S. , Love all my Mellow Johnnys, Shirts, bike shorts I bought!!!!!
Yup. Bike shortage. Now a mid range race bike with 105 is $3500. Yay.
Ty Lance, from Lima, Peru!!
Lance Armstrong: The true and rightful winner of seven Tours de France.
nice video as always !! keep up !! lance is funny on his way and everyone likes it !
Awesome guys, hope to watch many more!!!
Awesome!!!
hell yeah! now this is the type of videos I want to see. love hearing about the legendary races!
Lance Armstrong you will always be the ultimate best cyclist EVER!
Miguel Torres that's crazy.... Joop Zoetemelk would have slaughtered him if they were both in their prime in the 1980s.... LeMond and Hinault would've been fighting for that final podium spot..... On paper Zoetemelk only ever races against the guy who is going to win the race and then seems to let that person win..... Except when it matters the most
Very cool behind the scenes perspective! I look forward to viewing the remaining episodes.
Regarding your acknowledgment of the doping in this video. While it was wrong, I believe you were competing on a level playing field with the other teams and riders. Love your show, keep it up.
Tim Packer though one could say that it actually evened the playing field given that it brought everyone to around the same hematocrit levels (50).
@Tim Packer Does it matter? Cheating is cheating and every single rider was doing it. Why is us postal singled out?
If you DQ Armstrong, then you need to DQ Indurain and Froome....
@@freebird61885 lance (all dopers) would literally get saline IVs to bring his number down to 50 for a test, if it was too soon after a race. They even depict it in a scene of The Program movie. Who knows what their actual levels are during the race.
Yes 7 episodes!
keep up the good work gentlemen! Please get Jan onboard- I have been dreaming about that ever since you started The Move!
Well done gents! Was wondering how we would get our July fix and here we are! Awesome!!
Love it. Looking forward to the other 6 episodes. Funny how you mentioned all the “yeah, but” comments. Reminds me of last year a little bit, but unfortunately Alaphilippe wasn’t able to finish it off.
Still the f’n GOAT!
I’m glad Lance is sticking up for himself!!!! Lance did what he did his wins by hard work!!! At this level 90 percent take drugs don’t knock Lance!!!!
Lots of cool insight. Thanks for sharing boys!
Oh I need a lot more of this!
22.25 Great Comment Lance! Thank You. And thank you for doing these podcasts. Chapeau Champ
Exelente, la historia no se puede negar, en especial cuando es muy buena, los felicito. Saludos desde Cancún México !!!!
26:03 Thank you so much for the incredible shoutout for Kyoku!
Good Pod guys!
love this old review, keep it up please.
Love the arrows😂 love handsome George 😍. Love the show, wish it was longer. G' day from Australia Robbie McKewan territory, Gold Coast.
My ghetto looking arrows. Apparently, Lance's screen was very different from what I was recording
@@jbhager8662 hi JB and from what WE were seeing too! A longer show would be fab!! Huge fan and love the controversial chat part too.
Always entertaining content. Thanks guys!
LANCE ARMSTRONG CYCLING KING OF THR ROAD !!!! 🚴♂️NUMBER 1 BOSS
Good to see you all!
Lance Armstrong brought a European sport to the masses in North America.
He was not the first !!
@@westboundbadger the best tho...
@@westboundbadger 39:44
@@westboundbadger He was, and IS, the BEST, though.
Have spent countless hours in a turbo watching those 7 tours over and over. Halcyon days
Talk more about the cadence. I remember Paul (Sherwin) saying you had learned it from the Great Miguel Indurain when he came over for one of your Ride for the Roses.
Super excited about this episode, thanks Lance.
Fucking A
Hell yeah !!
@@franqueworren7323 At least he didn't use the stoked or the psyched words, which are always painful to hear for us Brits.
There since Day 1 Lance!
I have to admit I was a "yeah, but" guy. He won the Prologue BUT that doesn't make you a GC contender, then he won the TT which was very impressive BUT I had no idea he could climb with the elite climbers.
The best of the Dope train....
Great Show... Please touch on 2004 Villard de lans... You won back the Yellow Jersey and held onto it all the way to paris for Win #6... I was there at the finish... So was Robyn Williams & Sheryl Crow. Most Epic day of my life. Watching on the jumbo tron and hearing the loud sound of the helicopters coming up the canyon and you crossed that finish hands cliched and pumped... Fuck Yes! Epic!
I've been watching SBS covering stages of tdf stages from last 11 years. Lance's Astana days.
glenn oc, me too, at first I thought it might be boring but not at all. So good to see the battles and the old faces.
Oh my holy God could you imagine if Lance came😅😂 back as a joke in 09 and rode clean and 😂🤣🤣sober the entire time & finished 47th 😂 just to make😂🤔a point in 09... and won the Lanterne Rouge in 2010.... He would've been famous 🤣👍👍 but probably not a 7x champ cuz he defriended and blocked Floyd 😂😂👊👍😎
PLEASE take us through Sestriere - would love to hear what was going through Lance + Johan's heads up that climb. Best wishes.
Absolutely second this.
I would love to hear what was going through Lance's bloodstream. Seriously, I want to know how doped up he was for that astonishing performance.
100% can’t wait to hear that one
Read his 2nd book, free online
That was good.
Awesome! Wish it was a bit longer. I feel a 45 minute episode covering a whole Tour (alot of the spring classics episodes were longer for just one day of racing) doesn’t do it justice. Any way you can incorporate some more of the important stages? Still great though.
Bruyneels shirt : BOSS
Lance is the best rider of the TDF ever. Everyone else took the same goodies he did. And his sponsors got so so rich off him but that never seems to come up. The guy was a super competitor and freak of nature. You cant erase history..he won and beat the best who were all on the goodies. Get over it..and why are we not penalizing every other athlete who takes drugs.
14:50. Lance setting FKTs before they were FKTs! 👍🏻
can George get a better internet connection please?
@J.B. Hager lol
Seriously
Is George in dialup?
If he is at Hotel Domestique in Travelers Rest, its probably as good as it gets!!! 🤪
I think he's in the boonies so he's on satellite internet.
RAW RAW RAW...and I don't comment on anything ever and this was RAW and I love it. Another word that comes to mind is REAL. There is no messing around here. Their thoughts and memories are real and though it DID NOT turn out like I would have liked I love them for their brutal brutal honesty now. Why not! WHY NOT! I'm a real cycling fan, always have been AND THIS IS A REPRESETATION OF REALITY. Do you honestly think all these athletes are Batmans and Supermans?? If you do then you are NOT in reality. #WEDU GO LIVE!!
George earns my respect.
Without him Lance would have missed out some victories. He was the most loyal domestique of his time.
Having a rider as best friend in the bunch who sacrifices his chances to help his best buddy-not to forget his quality as a complete rider-he could have won a shitload of big races himself.
He is just a „too good“ character, just a little bit too nice to take the lead in a team ....
I couldn’t believe during 30 for 30, when Lance had the gall to yell in envy, that George hasn’t been outcast along with him...
@@SklLLLY then in the next scene he said how much of a friend he still is!!
Cool show 👍
37:15 To Olano's defense, prior to Lance catching him in the ITT, Olano overshot a left turn literally crashing into a race barrier almost going over head first off the bike, this causing him to lose time and focus for rest of TT. Still no doubt, LA was flying that day!
You were making history!
Please cover 2003 Luz Ardiden ! Hell yes!!!!
Yes...Lance felt the brunt of the backlash because he won 7 times. But the #1 reason Lance was demonized is because he wore the 🇺🇸 flag on his jersey! Same reason Floyd Landis was completely 💩 on. The French, Italians & Spaniards weren't treated poorly.
George must have a 1990s modem dial up internet connection. WTF
Yeah George is definitely running some via satellite from 1976
I think it's George trolling Lance and the viewers. LOL
