    Personally for me I am more of a fan of joker not knowing Bruce Wayne is Batman mostly because well I always thought joker wouldn’t even care about Bruce Wayne is Batman at least in my opinion.

    As to the three Jokers, it seems the Black Label book is non-canon, but the original reveal from JL #50 is in continuity. So Zdarsky is doing his own take on the three Jokers concept. What it exactly is hasn’t been revealed yet, but we’ve gotten some hints in the run from Bruce’s nightmares and multiverse trip.

    I love it when joker knows Batman is Bruce Wayne the story gets really intense and more interesting when that happens!

      They can have a serial killer meeting. Batman "I don't kill people, I just let you do it over and over". Joker " I know why do you do that". Batman " I like it when you do it, but my hands are clean, I still get the joy of the kill". Joker " and they say I am crazy"

    Personally, I like it when Joker goes "I COULD figure out Batman's secret identity, but that's not fun so I'll just fuck with him instead". Feels more chaotic.

    Joker’s dream could mean he sees the Bruce Wayne and Batman personas as different people.

      Maybe, but I think that's a stretch. Joker was so broken up over Batman being dead, even having his corpse hanging in his closet, but he then has regular conversations with Bruce. I don't think he knew.

      @@TheRealComicBookGamer Bruce in Death of the family reveals he went to visit Joker in his cell as Bruce Wayne making it obvious he was Batman and says “…But…But he didn’t see me. He didn’t see me at all.” “He didn’t care who I was beneath the mask and never would. Knew that he was incapable of even broaching the subject of Bruce Wayne. It would ruin his fun”. I think it’s in line with Jokers character to think of Bruce and Batman as different people, but I don’t know what DC editorial are thinking 🤷🏿

    I mean, Three Jokers was literally about them trying to make Joe Chill a Joker, because they knew he killed Bruce’s parents. And even in the early years of the New 52 it’s implied he knew, because he’s the one who sets up everything that makes Jason Todd a Robin, even knowing about Batman’s connection with Leslie Tompkins for this plan

    In Batman R.I.P. when Batman of Zur-En-Arrh breaks into Arkham to fight the Black Glove and rescue Jezebel Jet, he is tricked and falls into a poison trap by Joker. As he loses consciousness, he takes off his mask in front of Jet, Joker and Hurt. So we can know that at the very least he saw Batman unmasking himself there.

    Even though I have a decent amount of DC books on my shelf, I've always been a Marvel guy, and this video sort of explains why. Over the years I've heard people say that Marvel's insanely long continuity is a barrier to entry however I've always thought DC's continuity, even with there many reboots, is far more of a problem. Any time I pick up a DC book I'm not exactly sure what the status quo is at any given time. I have to do additional work to prime myself on exactly who a character is in any given time period. With Marvel it's just one long run so any previous knowledge you have is still valid (for fans anyway, the current crop of writers at Marvel don't seem to care much).
    Judging by your video it seems that it's getting so convoluted that not even editors/writers at DC can stay on the same page anymore. I know there's gonna be someone who comes in saying "if you pay attention it's not hard, you just haven't read this, this and this". That's fair I guess but if editorial are having a hard time keeping it straight that's a problem that's gonna impact your readership.
    In any event, nice video. Looking forward to more.

    I think Morrison on Batman has done more harm than good.
    Even the whole "Joker reinvents himself everyday" is utter nonsense.
    It's the very definition of character assasination since in this way you don't have any stable character traits and all this simply because Morrison thought "Well his characterization varied so much during the years that i had to find a way to justify it", appreciate the effort Grant but how are you gonna justify Penguin? He too varied so much during the years and he has (almost) no mental problem so how are you gonna fix it?
    For the "Joker knows Batman's secret identity" thing even Bill Finger himself let Joker explain that if he knew the Batman's true identity there would be no fun anymore, it would be too easy for him to go against Gordon and the GCPD so he wants this charade between him and Batman to go on forever, if he knew Batman's secret identity that would lead to only 2 possible conclusions: he goes into a catatonic state or he simply leaves Gotham and all the supervillain thing because it's part of the mystery, he knows Batman is simply a man but he doesn't want to know WHO to be precise, another element that Joker perceives as a connection between him and Batman: in the DC universe everybody knows who Penguin is, who Riddler is, who Scarecrow is etc. but no one knows who Joker is and the same could be said for Batman.
    As for the "villain knows the hero identity" trope i think that the only Batman villains that can work with this are Ra's al Ghul, Bane and especially Professor Hugo Strange (the guy was ready to die to preserve the secret and did a "born again" to his nemesis before Kingpin made it cool in Marvel).
    P.S. when i say that no one knows who Batman is i'm referring to normal people living in the DC universe

    I prefer Joker to be unaware of Batman’s identity but I also like to think in the back of his mind he knows he has all the puzzle pieces in place but doesn’t want to put them together. Jim Gordon totally should know imo

    Yeah Three Jokers the book itself isn't canon but the reference from Justice League in the new 52 is and the concept wasn't explored until the Joker solo book the Man who Stopped laughing and in the book three Jokers was basically done there and in the end one Joker was left. Joker knew Bruces identity since before Joker War in Endgame he just since then leading up to Joker War doesn't really bring it up as he doesn't care and it was rumored in universe that he knew but he didn't do anything with it until the Clark as Superman reveal

      @@jlpgamin same I am glad to, but technically speaking I always assume that was more PKJ to put that genie back in the bottle way more then Joshua Williamson, however I could be wrong about that I admit that but if it was both of their ideas to put it back I was so happy about that, unfortunately I still wished they could’ve put everything back to pre rebirth before bendis ruined everything specifically with the return of real Jonathan Samuel Kent super boy back to his little 10 year old self but that’s just my opinion.

      @TevyaSmolka it was more so both of them, but Williamson is the one handling the after effects of it. If the fixed Jon, tho he'd be 12 right now if they kept his and Damians age gap

    Here’s the funny thing …. That Joker in Knight Terrors isn’t the joker. In the joker man who stopped laughing series, it’s revealed at the end of the series that the joker during knight terrors is a former goon of jokers who believes he’s the real joker. He was shot in the head and now believes he’s joker. So that’s why he didn’t know in the knight terrors. It wasn’t real joker. Comics! Lol

    • @Ode_10
      @Ode_10 6 месяцев назад +1

      but didn't he have different eyes in knight terrors which matches the continuity from joker war? Or is Joker war joker not even real joker? I never read the joker solo book so help me out here lol

    • @zacharywalker4369
      @zacharywalker4369 6 месяцев назад

      @@Ode_10 it’s hella complicated. Basically after the events of joker war, joker got a goon to pretend to be him to keep people off his trail. He even had the goon get the same color eyes as him. They look identical. Eventually the guy gets shot in the head cuz he screws up one of jokers plans. Joker shoots him in the head. He lives and his head trauma made him think he was the joker. He then thinks the real jokers an imposter and he goes to war with him. The goons name is johan Kaiser. That’s significant cuz that’s the name joker had in knight terrors. That was the tell it was the fake joker
