aye,can only say the drill is mighty useful for some of my teams, keeps the natlan set buff going the longest and it counts for my chiori so she can get a 2nd doll.
Yeah, and it can even Mine ore from off field. You can use Kachina’s skill for one part of an ore vein then switch to a Claymore character to mine the other side
Another forgotten mechanic, the ability to FCKING AIR STRIKE HILICHURLS WITH BOMBS from your glider, it was in one of the tutorial domains in mondstadt.
@@imzelone like he said, one of the tutorials domains in mondstadt where all you could do was glide and air strike the enemies, don't remeber the name of the domain but i think it was one we needed to do in the archon quest
Well you can sorta achieve that with pyro mc hold skill (coordinated off-field pyro attack) and ororon. You can fly with him, and aim at enemies while in the air, dealing electro damage, which will proc pyro mc skill, which will proc overload and explode. And this works outside of natlan, but uses your stamina.
Other forgotten mechanics or systems include: 1. No more new One-Time Domains after Sumeru. 2. Only one 5-Star food item. 3. Only one 5-Star character outfit. 4. Bloom and Quicken missing from Elemental Trial in Temple of the Lion.
The one time domains were more-so phased out than forgotten. Their rewards dropped by a lot in Inazuma and Sumeru by giving a handful of sigils instead of a shrine of the depths key. Then they were absent from Fontaine and Natlan. It makes sense, since it does feel a bit outdated to have domains that are useless after running through them once, and especially that it's better for the user experience to put exploration rewards in the open world, not in separate domains.
@@kitnal4143 is the slowing only movement speed tho? Because if it is, then it's not that strong. Most bossess are stationary or does not walk. In mobs, you can just kill fast or if they are separated (which is most of the time), then it is not effective. If it's effective in bosses such as the whale, wenut, ruin serpent, wolflord, then that's probably the only use
Kaveh was such a missed opportunity for geo constructs. Him being an architect has basically zero to do with his kit, but if he were geo instead of dendro and buffed constructs, it would be a neat way to fuse his backstory with his kit. And he could use his scanning mechanic with his briefcase to buff the constructs on field,or use his burst to tear down the constructs and rebuild them into a cool burst animation that deals big damage.
This would make his kit useless since most Geo constructs do not deal damage after being placed, the only ones that do are Albedo's Solar Isotoma and Zhongli's Dominus Lapidis, they mostly serve as exploration features and providing niche defensive utility. The burst idea is dope though, it could have been the burst of Chiori
I really hope when we get to Snezhnaya at least a few areas will feature Sheer Cold. Dragonspine was my most favorite region when I only started playing, there's something incredibly satisfying and rewarding in finding a safe warm spot in an area that never allows you to stand still. Though I would understand if it's not a popular opinion.. The most of Snezhnaya can be safe, except a few especially far frozen corners - that see the return of Sheer Cold effect
I also loved my time in Dragonspine, but I think part of it was that my account was very new and I didn't have access to high damage or good sustain options. My only 5-star DPS at the time was Ayaka. The region felt threatening and daunting in a way the Mondstadt and Liyue overworld didn't, but I think we'd need to impose that challenge on ourselves by adopting restrictions in our teams for a new Sheer Cold region to have any shot of reproducing that feeling. That is, unless they do something drastic like upgrade the sheer cold of Snezhnaya to prevent healing, or something.
I am a die hard Navia main but it really pisses me off that crystallize, geo constructs and geo in general is so slept on by hoyo. It COULD be the tank element, the element where the reactions buff the player instead of damage enemies, but nah, we just get crystallize.
Instead of discovering and making new reaction in the flexible reaction support for genshin, they decide to powercreep the existing one, Mihoyo has been so weird in Natlan, its like I'm playing a different game, the vibes are completely different
@@Gnideldats the issue for genshin, theres only elemental reactions n timer for combat content, yet they r fucking up elemental uniqueness n throwing away reactions day by day, genshin just dunno anything abt combat desiging at this point what a waste of
@@TaseJawthe power creep is exist in any gacha, and genshin is here for a long time already so you can't but just exapt that i mean did you say fontine?
pretty sure you completely forgot about superconduct in that Eula "best team" comp lol, her best team is with raiden instead of bennett, rest of the team is the same
True. Cause again if you use Bennet burst then Mika's burst+skill, by the time Eula's burst detonate, your Bennet's buffs will be gone. And if you're gonna use Mika's buffs first, then say goodbye to Mika's buffs (WHY HIS C2 DOES NOT INCREASE HIS BUFFS LENGHT LIKE FARUZAN C2?).
Kachina is the best at Geo constructs because they can't be broken, resonates with Zhonglis resonance and ignores the 3 geo construct limit like Geo travelers burst.
I am 10000% sure they didn't forget about geo construct but they just gave up on going back and changing the way it works to make it more reliable and able to sustain being the focus of any character kit. Imagine they release a character with Geo construct as the core part of their kit and when you try to place the construct it self-destruct instantly because the boss hitbox overlap with it
as the game gets older it really does feel like hoyo is leaving not only one but TWO ENTIRE elements behind, with Geo and Cryo seeing basically nothing new and even losing major parts of their kits in Constructs and Freeze(hoyo makes almost everything nowadays immune to freeze) like, if you're going to be ambitious and make a game with 7 elements you gotta stick it through and actually EXPAND on them, not slowly let them fade into the background because they dont do big flashy combos like Melt and Vaporize. it would be SO COOL to have a cryo/dendro reaction where you freeze the Cores and then shatter them, similar to Burgeon. it would be AMAZING to allow Dendro to grow on Geo Constructs, making either the construct have a dendro infusion or making it stronger because of the dendro roots. THERE ARE SO MANY COOL THINGS YOU CAN DO WITH GEO AND CRYO, AND HOYO IS JUST DROPPING THEM OFF TO THE SIDE WHILE THEY CONTINUE TO FEED HYDRO AND PYRO MAIN DPS HYPERCARRIES im cool with them leaning away from constructs in favor of actually giving characters mobility options, but i never once thought they should just completely remove constructs entirely. as the game goes on, it really does feel like whoever is in charge of writing the characters and gameplay is losing their creativity in exchange for just making something that sells. which really sucks as someone who has played the game SINCE LAUNCH DAY, i really do love the world they've built and i wish that they would treat it as something amazing instead of as something they can make money off of
@@lolidemon3163 i absolutely agree that Natlan has some really unique and interesting kits but that is not what i was talking about. im talking about how they introduced mechanics into the game and then scrapped them almost instantly, instead of fleshing them out to make them more viable.
I remember everyone also thought we'll gonna get dendro constructs way back pre-dendro release because of those samachurls. Glad we didn't knowing the geo mechanic
When I got Beidou, I practiced countering as many enemies that I could. Good times. Another forgotten mechanic is fishing. Thoma is the only character with a chance to double your catch. I thought every region would eventually get a character like that.
One of the biggest problem about the idea of building a character around geo constructs is that they break when a boss so much as breaths on them (at least the older ones do).
The fact that freeze and geo characters having been neglected for so long, along with superconduct being buffed may hopefully mean theyre considering a super-shatter meta at some point. A 3 element meta of cryo hydro and electro that works similar to hyperbloom would be SO cool
Yeah no man, You can't compare crystallize tha has only a purpuse with navia, with plunges that Xianyun makes available to averyone. Crystallize is still gone and they did nothing with it.
Well they gave it something, even if it was just table scraps or leftovers atleast it was fed unlike physical who has had to go through the trash to find anything to eat
The only fix Crystallize needs is making it stackable. For the Elemental Efficiency, just set it to the last Crystallize that were picked up. I guess that's too much work for a small indie company 🙃
@@polarroars68that something is Navia’s stack to amp her skill dmg, and coincidentally the requirement is crystallize. Crystallize remain that reaction that no one make team based on it.
i think another one was wanderer's dodging mechanics, as in the arrows that are summoned by dodging. iirc his constellations even buff this mechanic, but pretty ignored when you run him with a shield. I think itd be interesting to expand this mechanic.
The biggest problem with counters, physical barriers, and a lot of more interesting gimmicks is the end game revolving around DPS checks, specifically time limits. Zhongli had to be buffed twice, not because he was bad but because he was defense focused, which doesn't help DPS checks. Constant time limits is very bad for a games health, but it funnels people into the meta skinner box....
It's been ages since we got a hangout event for 4 stars we only got one for lynnet and that was ages ago and there is now 4 characters that doesn't get a story appearance out side of timed events (gaming, lan yan, fischel and mika) kirara got entranced in a timed event and she just shows up in chiori story quest so that 2 characters you meet for the first time if you didn't play the limited time events while 4 stars today get more screentime now gives them more screentime to lesser character that aren't relevant to the plot on the nation i guess they stopped making them because on average 4 star character hangout give more free primos than 4 star one (20 primo × 3 or 4 for reaching endings 20 extra for reaching all endings via an achievement and a secret achievement with 5 that you have to pay attention to character traits and details to trigger) also older version 4 star character hangout event used to be failable if you make the wrong choices i remembered this when replaying Barbara hangout at the start if you pick the flirty dialogue option she would run away from you right away like wise Noelle hangout wants the player to pay attention to the world building with an exam
I really love kinich however, I dislike how they treated burning. It was relegated as a debuff/status effect (kinda like superconduct or quicken) than it's own archetype. I wish they kinda took a more creative approach to it like nilou with vanilla bloom or navia with crystalize. Those were really creative! Edit: No. Kinich and Navia don't work the same way. If your logic is both need to do x reaction to do damage then that's like the entire game. The difference is crystalize is inherently a defensive reaction with no other purposes than a weak ahh shield. using it an an ammo, offensively is very much going away from its original intended design. Nilou on the other hand hyper buffs the bad vanilla bloom reaction to the point where it's viable. Kinich (and Emilie) however just treat burning as a status effect than a reaction. It is effectively used as one uses superconduct reaction in phys teams. They don't change the reaction or it's interaction, they just happened to benefit from it.
What is the difference between Kinich and Navia? Both just need to trigger the reaction, not buff or utilize It. Navia reloads her gunbrella and Kinich reloads his nightsoul meter
Emilie and Unfinished Reverie is a better poster child for burning than Kinich is imo. Emilie makes burning viable by addressing two of its major weaknesses; self damage potential and lack of dps output Unfinished Reverie gives burning its niche trait as a reaction, a reaction that facilitate for stronger damage, an offensive buffing reaction if you will. You'd be surprised how much damage bonus it gives when you slap it to a pyro/dendro/cryo main DPS
To be honest, Kinich and Navia just need the reaction to be there and that's it. They didn't up the machanic, they just need it to exist and that's it.. Didn't change anything. Shouldn't even be mentioned in the video as viewing that mechanic
Your edit is plain wrong, Kinich and Navia work the same lol Kinich gets extra nightsoul to use his skill when burning/burgeon is triggered Navia gets ammo to use her skill when crystallize is triggered. Burning doesn't do any extra damage just bc Kinich is on the team, it just buffs his personal damage. If you don't swap to Kinich, there's no difference to burning. Crystallize doesn't do any extra damage (or shield better ig) just bc Navia is on the team, it just buffs her personal damage. Nothing changes with crystallize if you don't swap Navia on field. Crystallize being a defensive reaction doesn't suddenly make Navia buffing her personal damage with it special lol She doesn't help the reaction crystallize itself in any way, the same way Kinich doesn't help burning in any way. They both just use the reactions to buff themselves. Chev buffs overload by making it an advantage to use overload with every pyro/electro unit Nilou buffs bloom by making it deal more damage Ororon buffs EC by restoring energy to the active character. VV buffs swirl by making it shred res and gives you an incentive to trigger swirl with every anemo character. Petra does the same for crystallize. But not Navia. All she does is help herself with the reaction, it doesn't help any character except Navia herself. You're not going to run another geo dps with Navia on the team and use crystallize to buff them.
honestly most of the reason burning is considered bad is because Nahida is trash for it, gonna be honest. Nahida can't trigger burning off field, which means if you want to run a burning team with her, you need a dendro dps. But (aside from Kinich now) all the dendro dps want quicken. Burning is a good reaction for Melt, Wriothesley with burning is pretty good. But Nahida cannot sustain burn in that team on her own. Nahida is so busted she carries dendro on her back alone, and since she's dropped burning, burning is bad.
In the case of physical, I think that iansan could be the support that the element is in need. I mean, she is literally a physical coach, some one that help other to achieve their physical prime. It would be a perfect fit thematically. And to make this happen in a very generic way, i think it would be nice if she had a passive like "when her burst is active, characters in the party receive physical DMG bonus equals to Iansan electro DMG Bonus" that would enable the use of some support that currently can't help physical (like kazuha, or cinder city holders) and make some supports even better for physical (like Furina)
It would be cool if Iansan was a Sword character, as not only would she be capable of using her tribe's 4 star Sword like most of the other gacha Natlan weapons, but she could be capable of capitalizing on the Physical damage from being a Sword user instead of a catalyst, and she doesn't even need to be using the sword, like she could be boxing like Wriothesley or pulling wrestling moves.
Geo constructs where such a cool thing in the early days, in the era when abyss wasn't made into 60 waves of enemies consisting of 3 enemies each, there used to be a floor which spawned alot of enemies on different sides, where you have to protect the pillars hp in abyss floor 11 that floor gave alot of people who didn't have Venti alot of trouble BUT It also made geo traveler kinda meta but using his skill and ult to block off attacks which is something sick, not to mention back then the damage of zhongli pulses was enough to make geo trav constructs deal a decent damage at a decent Aoe, thought they'd expand this build the castle kinda playstyle but they just didn't
if they made a character that could explode geo constructs for big aoe dmg it'd make most of these characters useful instantly A mono geo team with traveller, zhongli and ningguang and a new char to set off a nuke sounds fun to me bc let's not forget that ningguang's skill also buffs geo dmg
I'm glad someone else already mentioned that Kachina's turbo twirly does persist on field. Really hope Vars corrects this mistake. I used to use her as my cinder city buffer for Chiori myself.
Something I never understood is how Hoyo immediately added dendro reactions to the thundering fury set once sumeru dropped, yet they couldn't be bothered to improve the archaic petra set. Geo is meant to represent Liyue which in turn is based on China
3:57 Kachina's turbo twirly can be mounted by her while she is on the field, or act as an independent turret regardless of if she is on or off the field Its duration is determined by Kachina's nighsoul points
You should have talked more about how the constructs get destroyed by most enemies way too easily. That really is by far the greatest problem with them.
I would love for a counter attack shielder where the more damage it takes the more damage it releases once it breaks or times out. I think if they were Anemo it would be fun. if the shield times out the damage is equal to the amount taken by the shield but if it breaks the damage increases by a set amount, also when the shield breaks it will heal the active character an amount of HP scaling off of the amount of damage the shield has taken (this is a safety precaution as you may get damaged when the shield breaks). The shield will absorb an element and release damage of that element when the shield breaks/times out. you get a damage bonus if she shield doesn't swirl (it would be hard to achieve in most scenarios so i think it should be a nice way to reward anyone who dose it).
3:51 while it is true that only she can interact with it, it is false to say that it disappears once she is off-field. It stays regardless of the active character as long as kachina's nightsoul gauge thing still has points.
One forgotten mechanic I hope to see in the future characters is a shared infusion, like C6 Bennett or Candace's burst. Thundering Furry and Super Bloom with Candace and Yaoyao prove that there is potential in such playstyle, we just need a good enabler, like Xianyun was for plunge
I wish they did more stuff with water droplets, like fontaine characters have special interactions with them, this will also make people want to use hydro mc or even pull sigewinne more. Like maybe Lynette could consume Droplets during her skill giving her +1s on it with a maximum amount Or Furina when using her Burst can explode all nearby Droplets giving massive damage Or Navia can also absorb them and count them as a crystal shard bullet, oh and Lyney could fire his CA at a droplet and produce two Cat hats instead of one (probably give this a cooldown) Charlotte and freminet could freeze the droplet turning them into a physical ball that you can use your CA to hit and deal physical damage They could have really utilized the droplets more, instead we get Light and dark swords and bond of life which only 2 characters actually use😢
As someone who has never taken Beidou off from my profile since 1.0- I honestly never considered counters a forgotten mechanic... I think another forgotten mechanic that could have been mentioned regarding physical would be shatter, it deals physical damage based on EM, but we don't have any way of activating it on large enemies.
I think it could work maybe if it was given to an element besides geo. But I don’t exactly know how well is the case. Geo constructs fall short cause geo doesn’t really do much in the long run other then breaking some types of armors and being used as blunt damage.
The fact that they put in enough resources to make a rail shooter for chasing the dragon and also a bombing run system for one domain, but then didn't use either again. I'm glad that they have found more of their niche, but I also wish that things wouldn't still be around that they tried and didn't like. I wish they would give some reworks to make characters better that were part of systems that had potential, but were dropped like geo constructs or physical damage
I’d also say that forgotten also doesn’t necessarily have to mean the mechanic is bad. For example, the dendro reactions (except burning) can be considered “forgotten” because they haven’t gotten better since nahida’s release, which was closer to 1.0 than it is to now. Reactions like freeze and superconduct (not for physical buffing) are the main forgotten reactions that need more. Other mechanics i think needs more include: - fall damage - defence scaling dps - anemo resonance (rlly need to buff it to incentivise double anemo) - atk spd - cooldown reductions - alternate sprints (mavuika kinda brought it back)
A very non-Genshin way they could use geo constructs would be a bow character that needs to shoot through them to power up their shots, similar to Zeri in league and Breach in Valorant. I’m imagining someone with a sniper aesthetic, or some sort of guerilla warrior. It might not fit at all with their design philosophy, but with some of the stuff in Natlan I’m not sure they’re really limiting themselves anymore.
imo, they should add some mechanics with interaction with the status of enemies for physical dmg. for eg, like, you hit an electro charged enemy who was superconducted, when u hit the enemy all other enemies which also have similar status will get similar amt of dmg, supercond + pyro, you hit harder in a way that enemy launched above so it deals fall damage, superconduct + dendro = movement decrease on enemies like they move 0.75x of normal speed. As for geo constructs, i think elemental absorption can be great, a char whose skill will make the constructs on field to absorb element they come in contact and then generate buff on the basis of how many constructs have which element: similar to team synergy i.e one absorbs pyro atk increased by 10% if another also more 5%, absorbs hydro hp increased, cryo crit increases, electro er increased and also if anemo contacts the construct the swirl will take place with elemnt which was absorbed acoordingly. AS for counter the soln is simple a char with good multipliers, the mechanic is already in the game you just have to implement it correctlu
@@Squiggles. Signora would’ve never been playable because in lore, she was once married. Every playable character is single. Every one of them lol. She never had a chance to begin with.
@TacticalDimples I don't think that's the reason, but lol alright. I think I read somewhere that she was always supposed to die because of her Files saying "Monster" instead of "Avatar" like in Dottore's Case. I mean, at least her Death set up something for Pierro... I hope we get our Pay off for that soon.
In the “what they went back and revisited” is elemental reactions themselves. Aside from multiplicative reactions of Melt and Vaporize, they were basically supplemental DOT damage. When Dendro was about to be released, they buffed electro and hydro related damage- without which, the Dendro element would not have had the impact it has had.
He first explained how geo constructs work in general, then explained further how each character utilizes them. You start general and get more specific.
Another failing of the Geo construct is its inability to stop large melee attacks such as those from bosses. Ok, maybe not stop, per se, but I believe that constructs should allow an area of respite from these attacks if placed between you and the attack. It wouldn’t even necessarily need you to code the constructs individually different. You’d add a line of sight indicator to enemy units much like how they already have them for projectiles.
The fact that counters AREN’T in the game yet in a 5 star is honestly crazy, they’ve done it in ZZZ with parries and HSR with Yunli and Clara and it’s some of my favorite stuff, I’d absolutely pull for a character like that in Genshin
Imagine they made a character whose skill acts just like beidou or candace but every time you get a counter you get a bar fill up kind of like BoL aside the counter dmg. I think perfectly timed counters should be made to fill up the bar faster and refreshes the skill then when a charged attack is used it consumes the bar and uses it to amplify the dmg done greatly.
I've been waiting for *YEARS* for them to release a 5* character with a counter attack. Back when Fontaine trailer for 4.0 released, i hoped Clorinde would be just since she's a fencer, thinking her gun would be tied to her ult, but alas, nothing...
I feel like Physical almost has the foundations to work with Shatter if they let Shatter crit and scale more effectively with Atk and Phys DMG. That way physical units could've been about freezing opponents, shredding their Phys Res with Superconduct, and then landing a large attack. Electrocharge wouldve been nice additional DoT from an off field support.

What still annoys me to this day is that Kachina's twirly doesn't activate those pressure plates you'd often see in Liyue. You know, the ones that are usually meant to have a geo construct on top of them so they'd stay active after you stepped off...
I'd say Geo Constructs are on a decent spot atm and not forgotten, Kachina's Turbo Twirly and Chiori's Tamoto Doll are proff Hoyo is willing to work on the concept while still making new Geo units that break the mold like Navia or Xilonen. It's just that people expect too much of an element that has always been defensive in nature. you wanna get more out of your Geo DPS? look for a team that increases their DEF/HP stats but don't expect to make Dendro lvls of reaction damage, it's more about the raw brute power just like Physical characters.
One of the natlan obsidian mini-bosses have an entire gimmick of stance-counter. So maybe it's copium but perhaps they added it to "test" the waters of counter mechanics?
Counter mechanics in general are pretty wacky in Genshin specifically. Genshin's combat at later stages have strict timing when it comes to rotations, and some enemies are straight up not aggressive enough to warrant using it - in fact HYV has a habit of adding enemies that _runs away_ from you as a stall mechanic in the Abyss and the Theatre (Wenut, Ruin Serpent, Goldflame Qucusaur, Wolflord, ASIMON). The only way I can see a "counter" character work is if they can fill the role of an on-field damage dealer that utilizes their counters as a way to create damage windows against aggressive enemies - kinda like how Longswords, Charge Blades, Lances and other similar weapons in Monster Hunter work.
my fav element has been geo since day 1, love geo traveller, hype when i see zhongli has interaction with construct, even hyping myself that they might introduce character that "evolve" with what type of construct is on field...boy i miss how much i hurt myself with this copium every time i see new geo came out
What i hope Mihoyo puts more focus on in the future is the whole dodging mechanic. Because everyone needs to use it when not having a shielder or healer present but its been literally non existent in talks but id love a character that does something with the whole i-frame dodging thing.
Geo in regard of Constructs needs Characters, that can make usage of constructs in a unique way, that id call "Resonance", just like Zhonglie resonantes with them to cause massive damaging Geo Shockwaves (which is sadly not part of his gameplay kit..imagien Zhonglie would get buffed this way later that his E-Skil lcauses Geo Shockwaves, when you create his pillar in near of other constructs, so that they resonace with each other and receive additioal new unique effects while resonating with each other, based on the construct combination)
And as i always say, Geo needs finally real reactions..Crystallization needs to become a unique passive effect for Geo, not a Reaction and it needs to get changed to scale with DEF, not with EM. Reactions like Mud, Poison, Magnetism, Erosion, Geo Swirl, Smokescreen need to become finally a thing.. it would also help alot in rebalancing characters n make soem outdated characters more useful again. Would provide alot new nice group builds. And Physio so to say, for physical Attacks coudl also have own reactions, if MHY would add finally a trigger state, with that the elements can react with, once an enemy has been hit enough by physical hits... something like "Fatique" that happens, once an enemy has been hit often enough physicallly, then when an enemy suffers unter Fatique, it can react then with the Elements to different forms of physical reactions..like Fatique + Dendro = Sleep, Fatique + Pyro = Daze..Fatigue + Hydro = Weakness, Fatique + Cryo = Illness...Fatique+Geo = Fragility/Petrification.. its basically the same mechanic like Bloom, where Bloom is just used as Trigger in order to cause variosu different other Reactions based on which Element hits the Bloom.. and the same way can be introduced physical reactions to bring this kind of combat aspect back into the game in a relevant way that makes physical hitters relevant again.... sure, it would make the combat system more complex, but I have rather a bit more complex combat system that is fun and revitalizes outdated characters.. than an outdated combat system where mechanics are so ancient, that they feel totally useless, just because they aren't part of the very basic aspect of the games whole combat system - and that are Reactions, to that no element or combat basic mechanism should be excluded out from, which is the case for physical damage dealign and Geo since day 1 ...
now that idea of Chiori being able to summon a doll for each geo construct would be awesome, seriously that would be so cool. they would obviously have to tweak the numbers a bit but damn, that was a missed opportunity on Hoyo's part.
As a person that mained Beidou for the majority of Version 1 into Version 2, I’d love to see a 5 Star Unit with a parry, so long as that parry has enough damage to justify not having something like a skill based infusion or a stance change.
I have a feeling we might get a geo construct at some point. Assuming Sandrone becomes playable, I wouldn''t be surprised if she becomes the first main DPS who relies on a construct for her on-field damage. This could be either as a summon (like the other constructs), or as a mech which applies geo. One can only hope, though...
Honestly I could see a unit whose burst can work similarly to Mavuika's wherein you can use their burst even as let say 10 energy but deals like a small amount of damage but using its skill will cause them to enter a defensive stance wherein they absorb the damage that they should take and store it as energy and the more damage they defend themselves with the most damage their burst will do something like sett's haymaker or heck they can even store energy whenever someone in their party enters a counter state
Okay hear me out, a Geo Character that turns other Geo Construct into offensive structures, for example Zhongli pillar could cause shockwaves dealing Geo damage or Jade Screen that reflects projectiles and deal similiar elemental damage. It would be intersting to see turning defensive structures into basically an short of Tower Defense kinda playstyle - from my point of view atleast
Oh I want a 5* counter character so bad. I feel like every character recently are just the same. E does damage, Q does damage/gives a buff and that's it. I need more variety
Capitano really needs to be THE superconduct/shatter dps, if he's playable! i mean, he could work well with Ororon. it seems despite not being from natlan, he has nightsoul blessing too, like in his fight against mauvika he had that lil glowy effect around him
The last Natlan tribe, Collective of Plenty, seems to have motif around physical strength, so I'm fully expecting that physical teams will get revitalized when characters from that tribe get introduced. In particular, I feel that in version 5.5, Iansan will be released as either a 4* or 5* support character. She will greatly enhance physical damage in some way (either via a buff to superconduit or some other mechanic) but it will be way beyond what Mika can do. Varena (who is likely bovine-girl in the silhouettes that were shown for upcoming characters in the 5.3 Live stream) will be a 5* main DPS focused on Physical Damage. In addition, I suspect we will get a new pair of Natlan Artifact sets (one support, the other DPS oriented) to help enhance physical damage. The Geo Constructs and Counter mechanics I feel are less likely to get expanded on anytime soon.
A support/sub DPS that can create a field that convert all elemental damage to physical (and give dmg bonus or smth) would be pretty cool. It makes physical less alienated to the other elements, bc it lets them use other modern supports/sub DPS, while still giving physical unit their edge on the new team archetype due to them being tailored to buff their own/their party's physical damage to begin with You can also maybe make it that she/he converts all elements except cryo into physical, allowing you to still trigger superconduct inside the "nulled zone"
A character who gets more nightsoul points based on how many hits they counter would be crazy. Imagine taking a character like that to the 4 ruin guards in Liyue, you’d take every hit of all 4 spin attacks and one shot them
6:48 I think a cool idea for a character to take inspiration from the exploding geo constructs js Duruk from Age of Calamity. Basically after certain attacks he'd leave behind a stone pillars and his special move was to pump his fist in the air causing them to not only grow but after a few more pushes they'd explode. I think it'd be a neat play style with zhongli geo mc and chiori so you'd have dolls to attack with the constructs and after they despawn just detonate.
My Eula team is Eula, Zhongli, Fischl, Mika. A lot of ppl forget that Zhongli's jade shiled also decreases nearby enemy Res for all elements AND physical damage. The team does fine into most bosses as long as they dont require interacting with dendro
Awesome topic. Actually for a long time johny+ning were my afk team, resonance was enough to kill open world mobs. Sure not strong per se but such a fun to watch
Considering Iansan a fitness coach and is all about working out, and in the Archon Quest we saw her just electro up and punch the pillar. She might be our 5☆ counter user.
not sure if we can call it “forgotten” quite yet cause it certainly has gotten a lot more attention than the mechanics discussed in the vid, but i still feel like the devs moved on too quickly from the bond of life mechanic!! imo there’s still a lot of potential with the mechanic that i hope the devs will return to at some point… one idea i had was an off-field support character that could basically enable the Harmonic Whimsy set for any on-field DPS (like how Furina enables Marechausse for DPS) by reliably giving BoL to only the active on-field character… and then maybe provide some other buffs too? im not too knowledgeable on theory crafting tho so im not sure what kind of buffs exactly and what the numbers/multipliers should be… but ideally i would like this hypothetical character to be a 4 star sword user! as for element i was thinking geo that way they can be flexible in a variety of teams w/o disrupting elemental auras but hydro would also be cool since we only have like three 4 star hydro characters 😭
i still don't understand why our dear Vars so persitent on saying claymore = bad design. Even so i've watched that video imho i don't agree with that - big stat stick is actually really-realy good ,even without big flashy effects big thing doing big damage is fun and optimal and that all that matters.
yes!!!!! ty vars.... im day one player the first character i got was zhongli in his first banner. then i played mono geo with geo traveler, noelle, zhongli and ningguang. this was before i the devs buffed zhongli lol. anyways, recently i pulled summon shaper recently on this chronicle wish banner. god i love aesthetics....the sword took 882 days to rerun (more than 2 years) and the unforge 967 days no rerun holy cow almost 3 years! anyways for that construct team...i used to love making a fortress or something like that. at the time diluc, keqing and razor, childe and my noelle wasn't that far behind
I think what would revive both physical and counter is literly Yunli for HSR, make it so that every time an enemy attaks them they attack back and deal dmg and additionlay make it so that the damage taken accumulates and after using burst deals dmg equale to the accumulated damage.
I like the counter-attack idea. I wish we had a character with an ability like Nyx's 4 in Warframe, where she goes invulnerable and sucks up all the damage and unleashes all the damage she took back at the enemies in a big AOE.
Okay, you're actually cooking with that character idea where they can blow up geo constructs. I loooooooved my Noelle and Geo traveler when I started the game but traveler's rock pisses me off. I even tried to make it work by practicing my aim alot so that I can blow up the rock immediately but it's just too annoying as it usually just works versus bosses and other larger mobs
i think a parry orientated on field would be great! imagine not having to i-frame some attacks and time a counter instead. would also open up more dual carry/onfield dps options
They should make the Assault anomaly from ZZZ an actual reaction in genshin for physical damage, that way they could make a character that enables a "superbreak" effect after an anomaly is triggered, barring similar requierements like Chevruse's overload and Nilous bloom.
I wish they would have expanded on geo MC’s constructs mechanic. When the MC’s Constructs are destroyed, there is a neither instance of Damage. Its alot of fun to try to blow up the contracts in the bosses face.
it'd be incredibly nice if there was a way to create geo crystals like baby vishaps do, but by characters. it might be like one 5* geo who'd generate those 'pickable shields', also a reason to build this one into elemental mastery. sounds interesting also. frozen thing, i don't remember if any character plays specifically from frozen enemies, not shattering them. some non-claymore (better - a cryo catalyst) char that would deal more if the enemy is frozen. ik it can be accessed thru few weapons (and im not sure - maybe one char had that passive effect), and not only frozen - cryo effect is enough. but i don't see anyone playing it like it's a thing (prob bc it's not) i remember the traveler using counterattacking in some loom of the night room with some particular boss. they didn't forget abt that thing - and actually it was fun to play with! it can be some sort of a shield, and when broken - deals great damage
i actually use chiori with ning bc of the buff you can get from walking through the wall! its an especially powerful duo if you're in co op and someone is either navia and someone like nilou for the copius amounts of geo crystals or someone who can benefit from sheilds, like arli or furina, who's health can get very low also physical sort of has a reaction with freeze, and it just shatters then out of said freeze
No, Kachina's Turbo Twirly does persist on the field after switching, and it even doesn't disappear after 4 constructs are on-field
aye,can only say the drill is mighty useful for some of my teams, keeps the natlan set buff going the longest and it counts for my chiori so she can get a 2nd doll.
Yeah, and it can even Mine ore from off field. You can use Kachina’s skill for one part of an ore vein then switch to a Claymore character to mine the other side
And it acts as a Construct for Chiori to summon her second doll.
@awesomeperson5150 it's a driller after all. The kids truly yearn for the mines

Other forgotten mechanics or systems include:
Local Legends, especially the wayob challenges in natlan, feel like a one time domain replacement
Not a single 3 star weapon has been added.
im pretty sure the devs themself said they will stop making one time domains after sumeru since it was a waste of resources

It's kinda weird that Cryo has a built in slow effect while other elements have nothing of sorts.

I believe Cryo Archon will be the first 5 star limited debuffer in the game. For example slowing the enemies down using cryo 😅😅😅
@@tristanmanalo6252there are already 5 star debuffers (xilonen, zhongli, etc.) Slowing enemies sound ridiculously weak tho

If it's effective in bosses such as the whale, wenut, ruin serpent, wolflord, then that's probably the only use
Best thing about geo construct is when you accidentally climb John Lee's pillar while doing abyss
The most annoying thing to ever happen
John Lee
For real. They should put a setting in every geo construct skill/burst to have it able to “interactable” or not
Kaveh was such a missed opportunity for geo constructs. Him being an architect has basically zero to do with his kit, but if he were geo instead of dendro and buffed constructs, it would be a neat way to fuse his backstory with his kit. And he could use his scanning mechanic with his briefcase to buff the constructs on field,or use his burst to tear down the constructs and rebuild them into a cool burst animation that deals big damage.
genius !!!!!
Even you can provide more engaging gameplay unlike hoyo themselves 😮💨
That's too much effort for Hoyo.

Yes it's interesting. Although many of my friends always complain about it, so I doubt they'll add that if many players doesn't want it..
Dragonspine is such a good map expansion with the designs that t captivating yet many plyrs complain abt it hh

Being tanky won't be important in a game where the biggest enemy is timer, not damage.

I am 10000% sure they didn't forget about geo construct but they just gave up on going back and changing the way it works to make it more reliable and able to sustain being the focus of any character kit.
Imagine they release a character with Geo construct as the core part of their kit and when you try to place the construct it self-destruct instantly because the boss hitbox overlap with it
Or area of boss (I look at you Oceanid)
Albedo be like:
as the game gets older it really does feel like hoyo is leaving not only one but TWO ENTIRE elements behind, with Geo and Cryo seeing basically nothing new and even losing major parts of their kits in Constructs and Freeze(hoyo makes almost everything nowadays immune to freeze)
like, if you're going to be ambitious and make a game with 7 elements you gotta stick it through and actually EXPAND on them, not slowly let them fade into the background because they dont do big flashy combos like Melt and Vaporize.
it would be SO COOL to have a cryo/dendro reaction where you freeze the Cores and then shatter them, similar to Burgeon. it would be AMAZING to allow Dendro to grow on Geo Constructs, making either the construct have a dendro infusion or making it stronger because of the dendro roots.
THERE ARE SO MANY COOL THINGS YOU CAN DO WITH GEO AND CRYO, AND HOYO IS JUST DROPPING THEM OFF TO THE SIDE WHILE THEY CONTINUE TO FEED HYDRO AND PYRO MAIN DPS HYPERCARRIES
im cool with them leaning away from constructs in favor of actually giving characters mobility options, but i never once thought they should just completely remove constructs entirely.
as the game goes on, it really does feel like whoever is in charge of writing the characters and gameplay is losing their creativity in exchange for just making something that sells. which really sucks as someone who has played the game SINCE LAUNCH DAY, i really do love the world they've built and i wish that they would treat it as something amazing instead of as something they can make money off of
Hope more people read your comment.
Very true & relatable IMO.
Tbh i would argue that natlan charas are the most creative kits in the game
@@lolidemon3163 i absolutely agree that Natlan has some really unique and interesting kits but that is not what i was talking about.

Forgotten trivia: Alice hasnt written any Teyvat Travel Guide since Inazuma. We used to get one every nation
A 3 element meta of cryo hydro and electro that works similar to hyperbloom would be SO cool
im praying skirk is a shatter dps 🙏
Yeah no man, You can't compare crystallize tha has only a purpuse with navia, with plunges that Xianyun makes available to averyone. Crystallize is still gone and they did nothing with it.
Well they gave it something, even if it was just table scraps or leftovers atleast it was fed unlike physical who has had to go through the trash to find anything to eat
@polarroars68 true, still, nowhere near enough.
The only fix Crystallize needs is making it stackable. For the Elemental Efficiency, just set it to the last Crystallize that were picked up.
I guess that's too much work for a small indie company 🙃
@AevyCh I still think crystallize should give buffs depending on the element on the shard picked.
They should introduce characters who's skills damages opponents based on opponents current or max HPs, which can also counter HP inflation in a way
The biggest problem with counters, physical barriers, and a lot of more interesting gimmicks is the end game revolving around DPS checks, specifically time limits. Zhongli had to be buffed twice, not because he was bad but because he was defense focused, which doesn't help DPS checks. Constant time limits is very bad for a games health, but it funnels people into the meta skinner box....
They forgot to program Kachina's Turbo Twirly as a construct for Liyue puzzles too
It's been ages since we got a hangout event for 4 stars we only got one for lynnet and that was ages ago and there is now 4 characters that doesn't get a story appearance out side of timed events (gaming, lan yan, fischel and mika) kirara got entranced in a timed event and she just shows up in chiori story quest so that 2 characters you meet for the first time if you didn't play the limited time events while 4 stars today get more screentime now gives them more screentime to lesser character that aren't relevant to the plot on the nation i guess they stopped making them because on average 4 star character hangout give more free primos than 4 star one (20 primo × 3 or 4 for reaching endings 20 extra for reaching all endings via an achievement and a secret achievement with 5 that you have to pay attention to character traits and details to trigger) also older version 4 star character hangout event used to be failable if you make the wrong choices i remembered this when replaying Barbara hangout at the start if you pick the flirty dialogue option she would run away from you right away like wise Noelle hangout wants the player to pay attention to the world building with an exam
Emilie makes burning viable by addressing two of its major weaknesses; self damage potential and lack of dps output
Unfinished Reverie gives burning its niche trait as a reaction, a reaction that facilitate for stronger damage, an offensive buffing reaction if you will.
Your edit is plain wrong, Kinich and Navia work the same lol
Kinich gets extra nightsoul to use his skill when burning/burgeon is triggered
Navia gets ammo to use her skill when crystallize is triggered.
Crystallize being a defensive reaction doesn't suddenly make Navia buffing her personal damage with it special lol
She doesn't help the reaction crystallize itself in any way, the same way Kinich doesn't help burning in any way. They both just use the reactions to buff themselves.
Chev buffs overload by making it an advantage to use overload with every pyro/electro unit
Nilou buffs bloom by making it deal more damage
Ororon buffs EC by restoring energy to the active character.
With Snezhnaya being the next region or nod-krai im expecting a return of physical characters
I honestly see iansan being moreso overload focused than physical
Geo constructs where such a cool thing in the early days, in the era when abyss wasn't made into 60 waves of enemies consisting of 3 enemies each, there used to be a floor which spawned alot of enemies on different sides, where you have to protect the pillars hp in abyss floor 11 that floor gave alot of people who didn't have Venti alot of trouble BUT It also made geo traveler kinda meta but using his skill and ult to block off attacks which is something sick, not to mention back then the damage of zhongli pulses was enough to make geo trav constructs deal a decent damage at a decent Aoe, thought they'd expand this build the castle kinda playstyle but they just didn't
if they made a character that could explode geo constructs for big aoe dmg it'd make most of these characters useful instantly
A mono geo team with traveller, zhongli and ningguang and a new char to set off a nuke sounds fun to me bc let's not forget that ningguang's skill also buffs geo dmg
I'm glad someone else already mentioned that Kachina's turbo twirly does persist on field. Really hope Vars corrects this mistake. I used to use her as my cinder city buffer for Chiori myself.
Remember how superconduct did ice damage? Yeah, me neither.
I actually remember it cuz my Lisa has a super hard time fighting Cryo Slimes I went out of my way to find out why
@@traior246 Truly the elemental reaction of all time😭😭
Something I never understood is how Hoyo immediately added dendro reactions to the thundering fury set once sumeru dropped, yet they couldn't be bothered to improve the archaic petra set. Geo is meant to represent Liyue which in turn is based on China
3:57 Kachina's turbo twirly can be mounted by her while she is on the field, or act as an independent turret regardless of if she is on or off the field
Its duration is determined by Kachina's nighsoul points
I honestly think all they need to do to constructs is make them not poof when colliding with a boss.
Vars your voice was so soothing I was almost sleeping, but as soon as I heard "Counters" my eyes SPRUNG with life. We NEED a 5 star like that
You should have talked more about how the constructs get destroyed by most enemies way too easily.
Like maybe
Lynette could consume Droplets during her skill giving her +1s on it with a maximum amount
Or Furina when using her Burst can explode all nearby Droplets giving massive damage
Or Navia can also absorb them and count them as a crystal shard bullet, oh and Lyney could fire his CA at a droplet and produce two Cat hats instead of one (probably give this a cooldown)
Charlotte and freminet could freeze the droplet turning them into a physical ball that you can use your CA to hit and deal physical damage
They could have really utilized the droplets more, instead we get Light and dark swords and bond of life which only 2 characters actually use😢
Ushi taunts enemies and whenever he gets hit by enemies, Itto additionally gains his charge for more powered up charge atk
lol Ive been using itto for too long, i forgot this was a mechanic. I just keep rememebering that i have E twice within one burst frame
let's just face it, there's very very little chance they will ever revamp this mechanics
I think it could work maybe if it was given to an element besides geo. But I don’t exactly know how well is the case. Geo constructs fall short cause geo doesn’t really do much in the long run other then breaking some types of armors and being used as blunt damage.
Ill take at worst that they just make them indestructible.
The rail shooter dragon chasing mechanic makes a return in Natlan
I’d also say that forgotten also doesn’t necessarily have to mean the mechanic is bad. For example, the dendro reactions (except burning) can be considered “forgotten” because they haven’t gotten better since nahida’s release, which was closer to 1.0 than it is to now.
Reactions like freeze and superconduct (not for physical buffing) are the main forgotten reactions that need more.
Other mechanics i think needs more include:
- fall damage
- defence scaling dps
- anemo resonance (rlly need to buff it to incentivise double anemo)
- atk spd
- cooldown reductions
- alternate sprints (mavuika kinda brought it back)
Quicken/Hyperbloom don't need to be buffed TBH they're still really strong
nahida goes through groups of enemies like a knife through butter
Super-conduct will get a dedicated 5* support, i'm calling it now. Every other reaction has one or several.

In the “what they went back and revisited” is elemental reactions themselves. Aside from multiplicative reactions of Melt and Vaporize, they were basically supplemental DOT damage. When Dendro was about to be released, they buffed electro and hydro related damage- without which, the Dendro element would not have had the impact it has had.
the geo construct commentary was completed within the first 1m, then said in six different ways for another 6m
Shatter reaction (which got buffed by the way recently)? Fremine being the character played around shattering?
Nice preparation for video.
Video Idea: Why Genshin will likely never be on Nintendo Switch
switch 2 is literally gonna launch bro
Cause it isn't strong enough lol. The game ran like shit even on PS4 Pro there's no way the Switch could run genshin without running at 15fps lol
@@HatsunPidgeon real
Might as well wait till the Switch 2 (also, ram issue)
Fr playing on normal ps slim and each loading screen took at least 30 seconds every fucking time. I played the entire game and halfway into Fontaines AQ like that @@HatsunPidgeon
Ningguang's barrier buffs passing characters with geo damage bonus. It's one of her passives.
I love Ningguang and I still often play her, and it pains to see that her screen will not stop most of the newer enemies projectiles.. 😣
And Physio so to say, for physical Attacks coudl also have own reactions, if MHY would add finally a trigger state, with that the elements can react with, once an enemy has been hit enough by physical hits... something like "Fatique" that happens, once an enemy has been hit often enough physicallly, then when an enemy suffers unter Fatique, it can react then with the Elements to different forms of physical reactions..like Fatique + Dendro = Sleep, Fatique + Pyro = Daze..Fatigue + Hydro = Weakness, Fatique + Cryo = Illness...Fatique+Geo = Fragility/Petrification.. its basically the same mechanic like Bloom, where Bloom is just used as Trigger in order to cause variosu different other Reactions based on which Element hits the Bloom.. and the same way can be introduced physical reactions to bring this kind of combat aspect back into the game in a relevant way that makes physical hitters relevant again.... sure, it would make the combat system more complex, but I have rather a bit more complex combat system that is fun and revitalizes outdated characters.. than an outdated combat system where mechanics are so ancient, that they feel totally useless, just because they aren't part of the very basic aspect of the games whole combat system - and that are Reactions, to that no element or combat basic mechanism should be excluded out from, which is the case for physical damage dealign and Geo since day 1 ...
zhongli rex lapis release foreshadowing🤔
now that idea of Chiori being able to summon a doll for each geo construct would be awesome, seriously that would be so cool. they would obviously have to tweak the numbers a bit but damn, that was a missed opportunity on Hoyo's part.
3:56 It does persist. As long as it have fuel
zhongli dong pulses has pretty short range, and it's destroyed with single hit from boss enemies
A hypothetical 5 star Ningguang that would destroy existing geo constructs and crumble them into projectiles to hurl at enemies would be so sick.
Remembering Geo Construct is like remembering that dead stock of a sinking company that u invested. And all is left to worth almost nothing.
The Geo Constructs and Counter mechanics I feel are less likely to get expanded on anytime soon.
as an early beidou main, landing the counters gave that dopamine rush. the inly character to strategically use burning grass for combat
A support/sub DPS that can create a field that convert all elemental damage to physical (and give dmg bonus or smth) would be pretty cool. It makes physical less alienated to the other elements, bc it lets them use other modern supports/sub DPS, while still giving physical unit their edge on the new team archetype due to them being tailored to buff their own/their party's physical damage to begin with
You can also maybe make it that she/he converts all elements except cryo into physical, allowing you to still trigger superconduct inside the "nulled zone"
12:43 yeah, satisfaction. While the player in the other side is cursing that Sett's entire bloodlines
She might be our 5☆ counter user.
not sure if we can call it “forgotten” quite yet cause it certainly has gotten a lot more attention than the mechanics discussed in the vid, but i still feel like the devs moved on too quickly from the bond of life mechanic!! imo there’s still a lot of potential with the mechanic that i hope the devs will return to at some point…
one idea i had was an off-field support character that could basically enable the Harmonic Whimsy set for any on-field DPS (like how Furina enables Marechausse for DPS) by reliably giving BoL to only the active on-field character… and then maybe provide some other buffs too?
im not too knowledgeable on theory crafting tho so im not sure what kind of buffs exactly and what the numbers/multipliers should be… but ideally i would like this hypothetical character to be a 4 star sword user! as for element i was thinking geo that way they can be flexible in a variety of teams w/o disrupting elemental auras but hydro would also be cool since we only have like three 4 star hydro characters 😭
4:54
Oh yeah, definitely love seeing rift herald running into zhongli's pillar
or wall, normally
I was putting together a Chiori tem with Gorou, and was incredibly disappointed to find the doggo does not make constructs. Now building Ningguang.
i still don't understand why our dear Vars so persitent on saying claymore = bad design. Even so i've watched that video imho i don't agree with that - big stat stick is actually really-realy good ,even without big flashy effects big thing doing big damage is fun and optimal and that all that matters.
yes!!!!! ty vars.... im day one player the first character i got was zhongli in his first banner. then i played mono geo with geo traveler, noelle, zhongli and ningguang. this was before i the devs buffed zhongli lol.
anyways, recently i pulled summon shaper recently on this chronicle wish banner. god i love aesthetics....the sword took 882 days to rerun (more than 2 years)
and the unforge 967 days no rerun holy cow almost 3 years!
anyways for that construct team...i used to love making a fortress or something like that. at the time diluc, keqing and razor, childe and my noelle wasn't that far behind
Its alot of fun to try to blow up the contracts in the bosses face.
fun fact, cryo samachurl pillas is actually a geo contruct, so maybe even cryo characters can do them
The last time I was this early, people still liked Natlan
You say this as if suddenly people are 180ing on Natlan, which obviously not the case
Last time I was this early, I was saving for Capitano...
it'd be incredibly nice if there was a way to create geo crystals like baby vishaps do, but by characters. it might be like one 5* geo who'd generate those 'pickable shields', also a reason to build this one into elemental mastery. sounds interesting
also. frozen thing, i don't remember if any character plays specifically from frozen enemies, not shattering them. some non-claymore (better - a cryo catalyst) char that would deal more if the enemy is frozen. ik it can be accessed thru few weapons (and im not sure - maybe one char had that passive effect), and not only frozen - cryo effect is enough. but i don't see anyone playing it like it's a thing (prob bc it's not)
i remember the traveler using counterattacking in some loom of the night room with some particular boss. they didn't forget abt that thing - and actually it was fun to play with! it can be some sort of a shield, and when broken - deals great damage
i actually use chiori with ning bc of the buff you can get from walking through the wall! its an especially powerful duo if you're in co op and someone is either navia and someone like nilou for the copius amounts of geo crystals or someone who can benefit from sheilds, like arli or furina, who's health can get very low
also physical sort of has a reaction with freeze, and it just shatters then out of said freeze
