Here are a few Claymores in 10 words or less 1. Wallet’s Gravestone 2. F I S H 3. Talk to the Stick 4. Sacrificial Sword but Fatter 5. The Bell Sucks 6. This is Literally an Axe
Navia is the only Claymore wielder I'll ever pull, and my last will probably be Mavuika, Pyro Mom-Archon. I just find it challenging to get used to claymores because it's slow and I barely have any claymore character built, Beidou and Navia. 😅
"Claymore is the worst weapon type" "Geo is the worst element" I like being able to swing a big sword and throw rocks. I just don't like how this combo is now overused Edit: pyro claymore and pyro polearm...
real ive been an itto main since he came out so getting a claymore is the worst weapon, geo is the worst element and a why nobody plays itto was a triple knockout but hes fun for me to play
@@tama2774the point is navia does not rely on her claymore attacks, only skill and burst, which means she might as well have been using a bow, AND she does not "rely" on her element in a sense that geo usualy plays around either defense stat or normal/charge attacks (or both)
The main issue with claymore in this game is that they're just slow hitting swords with no upsides. Look at monster hunter or dark souls, every hit of them have a huge impact both visual and numerically. If only we had a character that hits slow but like a truck and can vapourise or melt the damage
Diluc's core kit would is basically that. Imagine if it were brought up to 5.0 design standards. Take that C6 uninterrupted attack chain benefit and move it down to A4 or C1 (probably C1/C2, knowing Hoyoverse), toss in the damage potential of a current day five star DPS, and then make the constellations worth getting... all before you top it off with a signature weapon that caters to him...
But he doesn’t use his claymore tho, just like Yelan never uses her bow hints why she’s so good, Kinich and Mavuika won’t be using their claymores as they’ll be using canon guns and Mavuika will be like Furina and be off field damage dealer
Polearms are the easiest to design around with a majority of them ending up as supports or dps. Their idea is that fast attack speed = best. Swords were designed to be the most balanced with speed and power and Claymore powerful but slow
@@NforRoNin Too bad the claymores aren't properly balanced. To compete, they'd need higher multipliers than they have right now, because of the hit lag.
yeah, why does the Big Power weapon all have charge attacks that are a bunch of fairly mid swings or spinning like a top? why isn't there like a Monster Hunter Great Sword charge attack type moves?
I’ve always hoped Varka is a one-handed claymore type with surprisingly fast attacks akin to Auron or something. If Mavuika ends up taking that moveset that’s fine with me
I spect the guy to play like Guts/Artorias from Berserk and Dark souls. Plus would be a upgrade razor sword style [he is his teacher] and could use the chance to have a fast claymore [imagine Razor moveset but with Rosaria speed]
See the upcoming, Kinich. I thought he was a bow character from the way he attacks. It sees Hoyo is "giving up" on the claymore too as they did with the catalyst.
to be fair catalysts are kinda way more flexible because they're the closest thing we have to magic in genshin, withg claymores you're kinda stuck with slow ass laggy attacks if you rely on NAs for damage, navia kinda circumvents this by having a button of death she gets to use twice
@@substitutedoll5224 not to mention the ability to drive. I mean even lisa got a glowup post dendro due to her being able to drive fischl for quicken teams.
For me, not only they are slow and feel clunky, unsatisfying to play, majority of the claymore characters are not that meta either, with only some exceptions like Navia but it's very few. I definitely want to see they change claymore somehow especially with Mavuika. Oh and majority of claymore charge attacks are so borring lol.
I wish they'd lift enemies up in the air, that would make them feel so much more satisfying. Charge up a little stamina to launch smaller enemies and then charge up a little longer to launch heavier ones like lawachurls and consecrated beasts. then switch to another character to start juggling them, getting a lot of damage in while they're unable to do anything as long as you keep them airborne it would give more incentive to choose claymores over swords and polearms because as of now there's really not many reasons to pick one melee weapon over the others. sorry for babbling
@@plvto1 I'm surprised they didn't give claymores insta poise break. Seriously, with how heavy they feel and with such a strong hit lag upon impact, they really should instantly break any enemy's poise.
Hurts to watch. Claymores are my favorite weapons and my first 5*, Diluc, further enhanced my enjoyment. Especially since I got him within my first few days of playing. Fast and strong. He is the Artorias of Claymore Weilders.
Artorius is fast and hits like a truck, and he does it one handed. I love my Diluc as well, but other than using Artorius' spin slam attack, he's no Artorius. I appreciate the comparison though. :)
@@AlarienEvenstar You're welcome. I love them both, too. Artorias is known as the best greatsword user of his age. And given how he uniquely weilded it (especially in his weaken form) you can argue Prime Artorias (given his superhuman traits, gear, and skills) is the best greatsword weilder to have ever lived in Dark Souls lore. I don't play Genshin Impact anymore, but last I played (it was at the end of Sumeru), no one weilded a greatsword like Diluc did, largely thanks to his signature style. Applied in a lore way, Diluc swings faster than most while being agile with a very heavy weapon. No one fights using a claymore with such power, speed, and grace as Diluc does. Yes, obviously in terms of power in lore and gameplay, there are stronger people, but I'm talking about skill and technique, not who can cut a mountain in two. Much like how no one fought with a greatsword as uniquely as Artorias did, no one was able to swing a claymore as swiftly and with as much agility as Diluc. They are both quite athletic with a big piece of metal. However, the comparison I was making was deeper than they both do somersault slams. They are both meant to be "the best" at their chosen weapon.
I must say, this is a problem they had the solution to on release! Diluc's skill cancels his normal attack hitlag, making him way more dynamic than any other claymore up until this point in time. The only problem with Diluc's old gameplay was his numbers, and tbh if there's something easy to fix, it's numbers. The fix is simple give characters an easy way to reduce start up time or cancel hitlag, if it's tied to a skill/passive it's even rewarding to pull of.
Meanwhile I double crowned my Sayu. Although I use her as a physical dps miner for my daily farm routines, and she is very good at dealing with the geo slimes (shields) while mining ores. Claymore is best for this purpose - and Sayu has the best kit to hit multiple birds with one stone.
My biggest issue is that there's no 3* or 4* claymores with Crit substats (F2P btw), its pretty hard to balance characters like Itto, Gaming or Navia without crit F2P options
I want an anemo claymore users that cam toss/spin the claymore into a tornado as a burst or a skill. Also want a polearm character that can do a charge attack like a bow but that would probably never work or make sense
A polearm character that uses a javelin sounds really fun, never thought about it before. Too bad it's never going to happen 😭 but if it ever does, I hope I like the character enough to pull for them!
@@marqkcthe closest we got is candace and the throw is her final basic attack. Sad thing is they can make it work just set the throw to a skill or ult and allow the character to either conjure up a new one with their element, if it's an ult or go fisticuffs like Dehya but have some actual power behind it. Bonus points for throwing the polearm and recalling it with the respective element.
2:35 I don't know why Noelle is on the same "bad" category as Xinyan. You can argue that before geo buffs she wasn't good, but now especially with Furina she is really good. Same with Dori at C6
@@jex-the-notebook-guy1002 there are so many characters that need others to reach their full potential. Tao is practically married to Xingqiu/Yelan. Ayaka needs a cryo. Alhaitham needs an electro. Neuvillette needs at least two other elements (three without C1).
Weapon type is such a tiny part of the kits of most characters. Would Furina work any differently if she was a Claymore? Not realy, no... same for Neuvilette, Nahida, Chevreuse, Chiori, Xianyun, etc. The only type where tjr weapon type actually matters is Bow with charged attacks like 20% of the time and catalists if on fielding is relevant. Swords, and spears are the exact same as long as the properties of the animations are the same. Claymores are also almost identical except they do haevy hits.
that's what we're all hoping really, this aging like milk means they're addressing the problem stated in the video, if this thing aged like wine it means that Hoyo learnt nothing and the game stayed with whatever problem the video stated
When I hear "the worst weapon type" I think about the weapons specifecally and not the characters using the weapons. Being a bit more specific would take confusion away. It's kinda weird that genshin team limits themselves with claymore characters, where they don't use one part of characters kit completely. For example we could get a character that uses his charged attack to fling himself in the air so he could plunge attack, basically adding dragonstrike to his core kit.
yeahhh they just kindda gave up with claymores too, take a look at Kinich, he doesn't even play like a claymore character, more like a catalyst/bow character with the way he swings around and shoots bullets as his main DPS, his weapon as a claymore is nothing but a stat stick, the same way Wrio doesn't even use his catalyst as a weapon if anything I think Mavuika is probably claymore's last stand as a normal weapon, lest they gave her another unique fighting style that doesn't even use her weapon
@@TeleMsgs Catalyst chars have a lot of leeway in their playstyle as it's the most freeform weapon you can have since what they have is in the name of the weapon, "catalyst" to channel their attacks, I'm surprised that it took until Heizou for us to get a unique style of catalyst combat, before that everyone was just "pew pew magical energy" but yeah, I agree they just waved the white flag with Kinich, bro doesn't even use his NA at all in his rotation, and for such a unique CA animation, it's completely wasted on a guythat'll be played like an Attack On Titan character
Hot take Gaming should have a special charge attack Idk if he is a 4 star He is strong enough lore wise to handle his claymore weapon and he is a dancer He deserves a fancy charged attack
Claymores in RPG games are weapons with high DPS scaling but slower damage. But in genshin the scaling remains same with other weapons while retaining flaws of claymore.
It's funny. All the claymore users mentioned to be bad, i use on the regular. Claymore are my favorite types because they feel like tanks. They hit hard and provides defense or other options. It may be the worst, but it's my favorite.
@@xxx-lq7ho the only time his imbuing you with cryo would be a bad thing is in a physical team, which obviously you aren't supposed to use him in. Of course Rosaria would be better than him in physical teams. In mono cryo there's no reason to use rosaria over him and in rev melt they can be pretty comparable. It depends on what you play. Also, he's not really a support. He can be but it's usually not worth the team slot if he isn't built dps unless 1. You really really need the imbue or 2. You don't have a better support (which most accounts do).
Not me, with my favourite weapon type being Claymore and the only claymore characters I don't have are Itto and Navia ( I have Navia on another account, tho). My main is Beidou, My first 5 star weapon was Wolf's Gravestone, and my first ever 50/50 loss was to Diluc. It's a little sad that it doesn't have more variety. I wish they would change something, even if it were just a different kind of charge attack or a claymore user that swings it as fast as a sword user. It sucks that there aren't many meta claymore users. Hopefully, Mavuika or Kinich will change that.
Just wanna point out that Itto does have a unique set of charge attacks. one is a small deviation of the spin to win and the other is a small deviation from the constant swings. Different but similar and unique
Claymore and Catalyst are the most fun though :o Sword is... Sword. Bow is often not fun because of charging it up (some characters like Tighnari help me enjoy bow). Spear is... Like using a Sword, but looks longer. Catalysts constant element application is cool, Claymores feeling of a heavy hit feels satisfying.
man i remember when catalyste were the worst weapon type, then hoyo figurd out the best way to make a catalyst user is A if the off field make the skill animation fluid and easy to execute and if they on field make them go ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA
@Marz333 Yeah, no. Spending 15 seconds placing down your turrets with no way to cancel the animation or i-frames to keep you from taking damage is not what one would call "fluid." She lacks the QoL that other off field characters have, and it makes her feel clunky. My love of Keqing has no effect on my opinion, and the fact that you point out that I have a Keqing pfp tells me that you don't have an actual argument here, and you just want to start an argument for the sake of it.
@@JosepiThe13thwell the pfp just told me the obvious, but if you want a valid argument allow me.. you see a smart player would know miko can indeed dash cancel her e animation and it’s about as fast as a normal dash so you can use it to dodge enemies anyways if you know atk patterns. Also eeeqeee is literally the worst way to execute her dmg and just a meme at this point you should always start with her e, set up the rest of team and then use her q into e, miko is one of the best electros we have and her popularity has only gone higher for her many use cases. Dendro didn’t just save her she’s currently the best electro for dendro synergy except for kuki hyperbloom and her sub dps still gives her a long shelf life compared to typical dps.. I could go on to why your underrating her
I think Hoyoverse should have made Mulani a claymore user as her slow but powerful attacks seem really match how a claymore works. Plus it would have meant having the final element/weapon combination (still no Hydro Claymore users). Mavuika will of course be our first top meta claymore user as the Pyro Archon, but we really do need more than that.
At the very least they almost all need larger attacks, going from Noelle to literally any other claymore on-fielder feels like ass because none of them have aoe half as absurd as hers
i've never lived the claymore struggle cuz i got albedo on his first banner and zhongli on his first rerun, so by the time itto got his first rerun, i got gorou c6, itto c2 and itto's BIS (f2p btw) and honestly, when in his best scenario, itto is REALLY strong and fun to play!
I think it’s funny how everyone forgets about Itto. Of course, let’s not pretend like his investment floor isn’t insane compared to pretty much every other DPS, but he also overcomes most of the biggest downsides of being a claymore characters with just his scaling and special CA
Imagine me having only 1 claymore user in my main 3 team composition and yet even my claymore user Beido does not use her claymore at all. RIP. And second claymore user will be the pyro archon herself who will probably be played like Furina off-field.
Honestly i cant help but love claymore characters. the weighty slower hits feel so incredibly satisfying to me. My bby gorl fremit hitting 116k and itto being my strongest carry
Weapon types from best to worst imo: 1) Bow - you see a lot of unit's builds that still work even if it's the signature weapon of another unit. Examples are Tartaglia with Aqua Simulacra, Yelan with Elegy, Lyney with Polar Star etc. And it just works. Even the 4 star weapons like Stringless, Rust, Fav, VH and craftable weapons especially R5 are that good. 2) Sword - Almost the same as bow, 5 stars and 4 stars can be mix and matched with other units, the only thing that holds it back is the fact that there is no f2p accessible 4 star or even 3 star weapon with HP% main stat that Nilou wants real bad. You need to go to the weapon banner just to have a chance of getting an HP% sword. Sword would easily be #1 if Nilou has a craftable or event 4 star weapon 3) Polearm - the 5 star weapons are good just like bow and sword but some of the passives are niche and the good 4 star weapons are extremely limited like there is only one R5 The Catch on every account and there's no sac spear so Fav is more on demand. Black Tassle is only for Zhongli and White Tassle is only for Arlecchino, Hu Tao and Cyno. 4) Catalyst - 5 star weapons are too specific to one character, there are good 4 star support weapons like Hakushin Ring and Fav but dps weapons are extremely lacking in options like Widsth, Solar Pearl and Sac Jade and Prototype Amber if it's Neuvillette. New craftable will be coming out but it's only good with Mualani. TTDS is a plus though. 5) Claymore - It's either you get Verdict or Serpent Spine or Redhorn. Otherwise, it's a whole load of garbage. Not even Fav or Sac can save claymore lmao. Not helped by the fact that Navia is the only meta Geo dps AND claymore dps unit. Kinich might be in the same boat as Navia but both just cannot save claymore in general
To me, claymore is the most fun archetype out of all 5 for me to use and the most emotional one for me. Mainly because of Noelle, due to her character design and how her kit was the sole reason kept me playing Genshin. I almost quit Genshin in mid of the pandemic and wasn't able to play Genshin from 1.6-2.2 and was demoralized to play, till Itto got showcased and his BiS is basically Noelle BiS so it was my very much last chance of playing the game if i lose the Weapon Banner pull. Consider i still playing i won that sucker.
The big issue is the lack of quality support Greatsword characters. You have Beidou… and that’s basically it. Dehya is ok… on specific teams… with cons. Dori needs Furina and C6 to have 1 accceptable team. Xinyan is pure cope. The weapon type is overload with carries of varying quality. Even Kinich isn’t going to solve that particular problem, just the attack speed issue.
Claymores are actually fun. They give the "On-field main focus" vibes. The problem is that Genshin forces players to squeeze the dmg into small timeframes to get the rewards, so a fast quick-swap multi-reaction playstyle is often incentivised, in which claymores don't fit into. An answer to rescue them is to be searched in Noelle/Furina. A mechanic that makes claymores stronger the more field time has passed. Noelles burst extends her range for aoe dmg too, combined with a shield for interruption resistance and she is unstoppable. Take this as a basis of inspiration for future claymores with an inherent property for this mechanic.
One thing I learned from this game is that if you love something or someone, you will do anything for them despite their flaws. I initially don't like and not comfortable with using claymores but the characters I love uses it. Playing claymores grew on me and I just accepted it and enjoy playing them. Those claymore characters that are my mains are Itto, Navia, Kaveh and Diluc.
I'd say bows and catalysts are both worse than claymores. They're both typically single target, and catalysts usually have low damage normal attacks while the charged ones absolutely devour stamina. Bow characters often rely on charged attacks the majority of players don't much care for, and their normals suck unless boosted in some way (and aren't that well liked even then, because single target). Catalysts do benefit from elemental application, but suffer from most catalysts being either weak or overly niche, and in some cases, both. Bows do benefit from having some of the strong weapons, at least. But regardless, run around and play without using elemental skills and bursts and then come back and say claymores are the worst weapon. Claymores, though, has the weakest character kits. You have the oldest ones, with overly slow attacks, though newer ones tend to be better. There aren't any great supports that use claymores. Heck, we don't even have a hydro, the most desired support element, claymore character. And for that matter, the next character we are getting, a slower, big attack type hydro... isn't a claymore user. We do have a ton of geo claymore characters, but that is redundant, as the things claymores do, geo also does. There's also a general lack of claymore characters that do not rely heavily on their burst, and their bursts are often of the 20s cooldown type, which means 80 energy cost. And then there's an issue with weapon choices. Claymores tend to be a bit lacking, as there weren't many five star claymore characters released during the time period when a horde of the best general purpose weapons were released... and the one that was was a def scaler. So, overall, claymores are fine... if character kit design were equal across weapon types. But since Hoyoverse just likes to slap them on lackluster characters... hit less but hard types, but only the ones without much in the way of elemental reactions, the weapon tends to look worse than it is.
I think it was a good idea to let Dehya's ult be canceled by jumping, because otherwise if you'd press it by mistake you'd be stuck in it for the whole duration. It can happen a lot, especially if you are in a rush, since most supports' combos are skill->burst. The opposite isn't as likely: what is the chance for accidentally pressing the jump button when purposely using her burst?
You might think that, but you are wrong. Not about being able to cancel Dehya's burst being good. That's a useful bit of functionality to have. The problem lies in the key used to do it. We have a bunch of characters that can end their elemental skills early by pressing the same key/icon as they used to activate it. That's how Dehya's burst should work. Click/press the burst to activate, click it again to end it early. That way, PC users can use the space bar to break out of freeze without ending their burst early. However, because this is only an issue for people who play on the PC, Hoyoverse can't be bothered to implement it properly. Basically, there's a difference between good idea implemented poorly and good idea implemented well/properly.
@@Axterix13 You might think that, but you are wrong, lmao. The problem there isn't Dehya, it's character freeze being a shit mechanic as it has always been XD
@@Axterix13 Just to be clear, the easy fix there would be having to spam attack instead of jump, which would be useful for many other characters as well.
I do think another problem is that as the claymores aren't good at normal/charge attacks they usually just end up as stat sticks but the problem is that they kinda suck at being pure stat sticks Polearms have the catch, jade cutter, staff of home, black tassel Swords have sacrificial sword, the pipe sword (forgot name) festering desire, xiphos Bows have ibis piercer, the inuma gacha bow, fading twilight, stringless, rust Catalyst have widsith, prototype amber, the Klee book, wine and song Claymores have basically nothing aside from the favonius and sacrificial stuff I don't see/have anything that is really all that good in general And it's due to this that I do think they kinda just suck even more than normal as they just lack the slot in weapons that just work
@@ZeedYsacSarraga oh yeah the wolf great sword is actually like one of the best stat sticks in the game which is funny to think of, and I'll be honest I actually did forget about it as I don't have it and I'm not looking up the names just going by what I remember
still though no matter how "good" gaming is itto is used far more often in the abyss, want it or not gaming has fallen off quickly, the destiny of every four star dps in the abyss meta
I hope they don't keep making claymore attackers that don't actually use their claymores. As sick as it is that Dehya has fire punches (tragic damage aside), only half her NA and her plunging actually use her claymore and neither of them are needed or useful. And as fun as Kinich looks, he also just straight up doesn't need to use his claymore. Like what's the point then, it's just become a throwaway weapon to give when the kit doesn't utilise NA since they feel so bad to use anyway. And Mavuika being an archon, specifically a pyro 5 star after Arlecchino, definitely won't be a dps (well, not at C0) so she won't use her NA, so that's another one. Navia was executed so well and what they did with Dilucs skill was so cool, if only claymore attack animations were faster and smoother he and Eula would be perfect (ofc Eula's still physical but still). Claymores are my favourite weapon type, I just want another claymore dps that actually attacks with it, has viable animations and is a useful element (sorry Itto).
Noelle is the best candidate at this point. She actually uses her claymore, has an extended range due to her burst for aoe dmg, element infusion, a shield for interruption resistance AND healing. All she needed was a buff which Furina provides. Now she is my favorite claymore unit and a welcome on-field playstylist other than the hasty quick-swap-multi-reaction types whe have seen so often.
@@redlok3455 Ik ik and I'll always have a special place in my heart for her as my first main, it's just the limitations of being 4 star and geo; I meant more that I just want newer units to be that way. But not to take anything away from Noelle, she's still great.
What I love about HSR is that they removed weapons, sure its limited customization somewhat, but there is no such thing as a bad weapon and most importantly every weapon characters are using is stylistically fits. Best case in Genshin - you need to roll for signature weapon to make character look "complete". There is also no limit on weapon types.
I think you're underselling catalysts lol. One of their main advantages is that they have unconditional elemental infusions. Sure a lot of other characters also have elemental infusions but it's usually conditional on a skill or burst that have cooldowns and that might disappear off-field. For Wanderer specifically, you missed the fact that he has no-cost charge attacks, which is like the most important part of his kit.
in defense of claymore's charged attacks Itto showed us that if they have to build a character around charged attacks they can make their animations different with an interm mechanic so thats not an actual issue
I think Diluc,Eula and Freminet are good direction for claymores. Claymores should be a rhythmic/combo like archetype, weaving skills and bursts in between NAs
Gaming is so criminally underrated, I think his plunge playstyle is what made him really fun for me. Personally Im not a fan of claymore characters, but after using him for sometime he never left my roster since then.
To be fair he is a 4 star so him doing less damage is par for the course (other than OPPA and co ofc). He is super interesting to play though as long as you like plunge gameplay.
My first 10 pull got me Beidou. Shortly thereafter, I got Noelle & Razor. My first 5 star was Eula. I didn't start Welkin Moon until a month after I started playing, so I was barely pulling characters, forcing me to be more of a claymore main. It was fine because I didn't know what I was missing out on, but as I got more versatile characters, I started using claymore characters less. Eula & Beidou are the only claymore users I have in my teams because I like their playstyles. Upping their attack speed & giving interruption resistance to charge attacks are my only ideas of how to improve this class.
3:53 one correction: Itto is the only claymore character with a modified normal Charged Attack with lower stamina cost because his gimmick is based around his CA. His normal Charged Attack is a ugliest, bulkiest, single slash in existence. You should never use it.
I really liked the idea of claymores when genshin first started. It was like "oh, they're the slow weapon but do big damage. These are gonna be terrible." But then I realized they broke shields easier, so I was like "oh! Utility! Maybe they won't be bad! ... But here was are
I highly disagree. Bow users are hard-countered by any geo shield, and their shots tend to miss highly mobile enemies. At least with Claymore characters, you know if you're in front of the enemy you'll be hitting them.
In defence of Freminet, he does change up his attack pattern within his burst which in my opinion makes the hit lag not so bad, especially with Mika. (I’m definitely biased tho since I main him… 😅)
I love claymore but yeah - part of it is also the hitboxes and bugs claymore users have compared to the rest of the cast. It’s very unfair to us unga bunga users 😢
Before even watching There will be Neuvillette D riding Dehya will be called terrible or something, still for some reason Probably bennett and XL being called super broken, on par with Arle or something ridiculous like that...in a claymore video because the meta can’t live without them Claymore slow No meta characters Only plunge is viable I think i will hit most of these Edit after watching Yeah...except for even more Neuvillette D riding than usual, pretty much got it Also, why do people point to Dehya’s burst cancelling with a jump, who tf jumps during a burst...no one
In my opinion, the way to go should be tinkering with Claymore scales, rate of application or raw weapon attayck stats, instead of atk speed. The hit lag makes claymore attacks look good precisely because it gives you the feeling you are wielding a heavy weapon. That's why, out of all the weapon types, Claymore users buffed with atk speed look the sillyest.
I have a claymore only challenge account and doing timed combat events is suffering. Everything you mentioned is true. Why are the normal and charged attack numbers so low?? When they're only doing like 2k-5k damage per hit and painfully slow at that it feels like theres no point. Especially when their ult gives them elemental infusion. You didn't even mention how there aren't any hydro claymores. We don't get access to the best element in the game. It's like hoyo wants claymores to be awful. Its fun to use claymores when theres no timer cause you can ungabunga at your own pace but it makes me sad to see barely any claymores be used in meta when so many of my faves are claymores like Chongyun, Diluc, Fremi, Dehya, Dori.
I think there's a claymores only challenge by some dude (who is cool but I don't remember the name of). You should watch it, it's super cool and you'd probably get some tips from it!
Since kinich and mavuika are claymore users, I'm not sure if they would help claymores in general but I can see from kinich's gameplay, they are trying to cook something for claymores(maybe a claymore arc), what do you guys think?
Imagine if we could implement a new stat into the game. Something like strength that could factor into attack somehow and would make weapons easier to swing. The way Genshin has implemented obscure stats like attack speed, cooldown reduction and shield strength all leave a lot to be desired
Its not the weapon thats bad, its the characters. With the way genshin works they can easily make a character be any weapon type and have a good kit, just like they did with catalysts. Weapons are just stat sticks after all.
Wish they made that shitty charge attack more like MH gs. Itto already does it in a way. They should atleast make the CA combo for other characters fit their style more. The current CA doesn't have as much finesse as Eula has, it's better for Razor or Beidou's brute strength. The Spinning CA might be good for Noelle and Sayu but Navia deserved better. Not to mention they don't offset claymore's slow ATK speed because the multipliers are low.
the only way i can see them being on par with other weapon classes is prolly a stat buff or a supporter that specifically buffs claymore units not anyone else like sara c6 who buffs electro dmg
The only realistic solution to the issue without having to rework all claymore users is to make the autos and charge animation attacks faster. Perfect example: Xinyan. Her attacks feel absolutely horrible to play but when you get her C1 that makes her autos go just 12% faster, and having it becomes the difference betwen ass gameplay to actually fun. And i can bet easily that Hoyo KNOWS this, because Navia animations are slightly faster the rest of the claymore users.
That speed thing is mostly an issue with the oldest character. Razor, Noelle, and so on all feel bad. Especially that last hit on Noelle's normal attack chain. But Eula onward, the DPS claymore characters feel fine. So that's an issue they've addressed long ago.
Navia and Kinich are kinda different breeds as navia has somewhat faster animations and Kinich honestly feels like a claymore unit in name only. Since he's not gonna use it.

Navia : i got you
And Navia (a GEO CLAYMORE) is like one of top DPS now lmao

Literally throws the claymore away in his charged attack
why the fuck polearms keep getting cool charged attacks and yet they refuse to give anything to claymores
Claymore was supposed to be powerful and slow but they forgot the powerful part

You no like spin to win?
11:07 Throughout the endgame and the meta, I alone am the Itto enjoyer. If Itto ever has a 0% pick rate, know that I have quit the game.
itto >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> everyone else
I’ve always hoped Varka is a one-handed claymore type with surprisingly fast attacks akin to Auron or something. If Mavuika ends up taking that moveset that’s fine with me
I spect the guy to play like Guts/Artorias from Berserk and Dark souls. Plus would be a upgrade razor sword style [he is his teacher] and could use the chance to have a fast claymore [imagine Razor moveset but with Rosaria speed]
See the upcoming, Kinich. I thought he was a bow character from the way he attacks. It sees Hoyo is "giving up" on the claymore too as they did with the catalyst.
to be fair catalysts are kinda way more flexible because they're the closest thing we have to magic in genshin, withg claymores you're kinda stuck with slow ass laggy attacks if you rely on NAs for damage, navia kinda circumvents this by having a button of death she gets to use twice
crystallize go boom boom@@substitutedoll5224
@@substitutedoll5224 not to mention the ability to drive. I mean even lisa got a glowup post dendro due to her being able to drive fischl for quicken teams.
For me, not only they are slow and feel clunky, unsatisfying to play, majority of the claymore characters are not that meta either, with only some exceptions like Navia but it's very few. I definitely want to see they change claymore somehow especially with Mavuika.
Oh and majority of claymore charge attacks are so borring lol.
I wish they'd lift enemies up in the air, that would make them feel so much more satisfying. Charge up a little stamina to launch smaller enemies and then charge up a little longer to launch heavier ones like lawachurls and consecrated beasts. then switch to another character to start juggling them, getting a lot of damage in while they're unable to do anything as long as you keep them airborne
it would give more incentive to choose claymores over swords and polearms because as of now there's really not many reasons to pick one melee weapon over the others.
sorry for babbling

4:15 "It would be strange to create a support unit wielding a great-sword ..."
Also want a polearm character that can do a charge attack like a bow but that would probably never work or make sense
u mean like throwing a trident?
A polearm character that uses a javelin sounds really fun, never thought about it before. Too bad it's never going to happen 😭 but if it ever does, I hope I like the character enough to pull for them!
@@marqkcthe closest we got is candace and the throw is her final basic attack.
Sad thing is they can make it work just set the throw to a skill or ult and allow the character to either conjure up a new one with their element, if it's an ult or go fisticuffs like Dehya but have some actual power behind it.
Bonus points for throwing the polearm and recalling it with the respective element.

1 additional great claymore character won't make claymore less worse
that's what we're all hoping really, this aging like milk means they're addressing the problem stated in the video, if this thing aged like wine it means that Hoyo learnt nothing and the game stayed with whatever problem the video stated
what? are you saying the pyro archon is going to fix everyone? she will only save herself
When I hear "the worst weapon type" I think about the weapons specifecally and not the characters using the weapons. Being a bit more specific would take confusion away.
It's kinda weird that genshin team limits themselves with claymore characters, where they don't use one part of characters kit completely. For example we could get a character that uses his charged attack to fling himself in the air so he could plunge attack, basically adding dragonstrike to his core kit.

yeahhh they just kindda gave up with claymores too, take a look at Kinich, he doesn't even play like a claymore character, more like a catalyst/bow character with the way he swings around and shoots bullets as his main DPS, his weapon as a claymore is nothing but a stat stick, the same way Wrio doesn't even use his catalyst as a weapon
if anything I think Mavuika is probably claymore's last stand as a normal weapon, lest they gave her another unique fighting style that doesn't even use her weapon
Wrio makes sense using his catalyst to infuse his punches with Ice; nobody said catalyst can't be close range, but Kinich? They straight gave up.
@@TeleMsgs Catalyst chars have a lot of leeway in their playstyle as it's the most freeform weapon you can have since what they have is in the name of the weapon, "catalyst" to channel their attacks, I'm surprised that it took until Heizou for us to get a unique style of catalyst combat, before that everyone was just "pew pew magical energy"

Hmm if they're afraid it would ruin their sales they can make a 4* at least.
Claymores in RPG games are weapons with high DPS scaling but slower damage. But in genshin the scaling remains same with other weapons while retaining flaws of claymore.
They should make it 2x or 1.5 dmg scale and 1.5 atk speed will fix it

Hello fellow Chongyun mains I was looking for you in the comments
@@xxx-lq7ho the only time his imbuing you with cryo would be a bad thing is in a physical team, which obviously you aren't supposed to use him in. Of course Rosaria would be better than him in physical teams. In mono cryo there's no reason to use rosaria over him and in rev melt they can be pretty comparable. It depends on what you play.
Also, he's not really a support. He can be but it's usually not worth the team slot if he isn't built dps unless 1. You really really need the imbue or 2. You don't have a better support (which most accounts do).
Hi I used to main Chongyun 25 AR ago

Just wanna point out that Itto does have a unique set of charge attacks. one is a small deviation of the spin to win and the other is a small deviation from the constant swings. Different but similar and unique
Claymore and Catalyst are the most fun though :o
Sword is...

@@JosepiThe13thwym her animations are fluid lol. Oh the pfp explains
Mavuika will of course be our first top meta claymore user as the Pyro Archon, but we really do need more than that.
wdym... mavuika isnt the pyro archon. Bennett is
We can leave claymore mechanics alone, but the damage needs a big buff to make up for it. Giant sword in theory is supposed to hit much harder
they do hit hard only on xianyun plunge tho
At the very least they almost all need larger attacks, going from Noelle to literally any other claymore on-fielder feels like ass because none of them have aoe half as absurd as hers
i've never lived the claymore struggle cuz i got albedo on his first banner and zhongli on his first rerun, so by the time itto got his first rerun, i got gorou c6, itto c2 and itto's BIS (f2p btw) and honestly, when in his best scenario, itto is REALLY strong and fun to play!
Am I the only one who really likes Claymores but doesn't really like Swords?
Claymores are already bad at quicken teams due to their low speed
Still praying for the day they release an electro infusion support so electro build Razor can be a thing since that might make him a *little* better.
Also more cryo off fielders
I think it’s funny how everyone forgets about Itto. Of course, let’s not pretend like his investment floor isn’t insane compared to pretty much every other DPS, but he also overcomes most of the biggest downsides of being a claymore characters with just his scaling and special CA
I honestly have just had it with polearms. Why was Arlecchino the 5th pyro polearm instead of being a sword like in her trailer? Like really?
I ain't gonna lie. I love my claymore users

noelle superiority 🗿
Weapon types from best to worst imo:
1) Bow - you see a lot of unit's builds that still work even if it's the signature weapon of another unit.
Sword would easily be #1 if Nilou has a craftable or event 4 star weapon
3) Polearm - the 5 star weapons are good just like bow and sword but some of the passives are niche and the good 4 star weapons are extremely limited like there is only one R5 The Catch on every account and there's no sac spear so Fav is more on demand.
Ah, a true Noelle enjoyer, what a great sight. So based going for Itto's weapon for best girl in Genshin fr
And Kinich's leaked gameplay implies that his claymore is just a stat stick anyways
@@camrionr yup, he's pretty much never using claymore attacks for optimal play
They can never make me hate you claymore
One time my Dehya did her ult combo off a cliff. Being able to jump out of it has saved me since
@@PuellaMagiMami lol
I want the grand master of the Knights of Favonius, Varka, to be released as a 5 star anemo claymore user.
I do think another problem is that as the claymores aren't good at normal/charge attacks they usually just end up as stat sticks but the problem is that they kinda suck at being pure stat sticks
Polearms have the catch, jade cutter, staff of home, black tassel
Swords have sacrificial sword, the pipe sword (forgot name) festering desire, xiphos
Bows have ibis piercer, the inuma gacha bow, fading twilight, stringless, rust
Catalyst have widsith, prototype amber, the Klee book, wine and song
Claymores have basically nothing aside from the favonius and sacrificial stuff I don't see/have anything that is really all that good in general
And it's due to this that I do think they kinda just suck even more than normal as they just lack the slot in weapons that just work
Wgs and unforged are decent stat sticks, unforged unfortunately needs a shielder like zhongli tho. But they're pretty decent
Also the pipe is called fleuv cendre ferryman
@@ZeedYsacSarraga oh yeah the wolf great sword is actually like one of the best stat sticks in the game which is funny to think of, and I'll be honest I actually did forget about it as I don't have it and I'm not looking up the names just going by what I remember

If only it could be a little faster, not as fast as the other weapons, but just a bit
Give claymore a parry function (yeah there is beidou, bit I mean in general). That would be interesting
"Claymore characters all share one of two charge attacks"
*sad Itto noises*
When will they add a claymore characters that just spin faster and faster
love how Kinich is a good claymore user because he doesn't use it, like, ever lmao
My only claymore character built is Navia 😂
Navia is the reason why i R5 my serpent spine.
Hopefully on Kinich and Mavuika, i would get their signature weapons soon.
He deals to low damage compared to my 5 stars... with better artifacts and weapon. I barely used him..
This better be about the lack of good claymore weapons BECAUSE AFTER XIANYUN being Pyro and claymore gives you a TON of instant power
Editor had to keep keqing in the corner when listing the sword users 3:15
In defence of Freminet, he does change up his attack pattern within his burst which in my opinion makes the hit lag not so bad, especially with Mika. (I’m definitely biased tho since I main him… 😅)
I love claymore but yeah - part of it is also the hitboxes and bugs claymore users have compared to the rest of the cast. It’s very unfair to us unga bunga users 😢
I think from a purely weapons perspective, my least favourite is polearm. There are just no good f2p options for polearms.
Before even watching
There will be Neuvillette D riding
Dehya will be called terrible or something, still for some reason
Probably bennett and XL being called super broken, on par with Arle or something ridiculous like that...in a claymore video because the meta can’t live without them
Claymore slow
No meta characters
Only plunge is viable
I think i will hit most of these
Edit after watching
Yeah...except for even more Neuvillette D riding than usual, pretty much got it
Also, why do people point to Dehya’s burst cancelling with a jump, who tf jumps during a burst...no one
Bows would be the worst if they had more dps characters
What if claymores covered more aoe in attacks? Kinda like erudition in honkai but keeping the same dmg multipliers or would that be too op?
Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn Battle Prep music 💪 lol i couldn't focus on what you were saying at all 😅
In my opinion, the way to go should be tinkering with Claymore scales, rate of application or raw weapon attayck stats, instead of atk speed. The hit lag makes claymore attacks look good precisely because it gives you the feeling you are wielding a heavy weapon. That's why, out of all the weapon types, Claymore users buffed with atk speed look the sillyest.
Kinich will be my first limited claymore user. I play since 1.4 💀
I have a claymore only challenge account and doing timed combat events is suffering.
Meanwhile c6 noelle...
@@jex-the-notebook-guy1002 cries in c4 noelle
I think there's a claymores only challenge by some dude (who is cool but I don't remember the name of). You should watch it, it's super cool and you'd probably get some tips from it!
@@PuellaMagiMamiI hope u have navia
Toujours un plaisir de regarder tes vlogs travaux. ❤
> only reason people don't play itto
THEY DO. the fact that geo has the worst reactions doesnt make the character bad
AND HE DOESNT EVEN CARE ABOUT REACTIONS. if pyro was bad would that make lyney less strong? no because his optimal team is mono
So that's why she doesn't feel as bad to use normals on
That speed thing is mostly an issue with the oldest character. Razor, Noelle, and so on all feel bad. Especially that last hit on Noelle's normal attack chain. But Eula onward, the DPS claymore characters feel fine. So that's an issue they've addressed long ago.
4:57 Bro what was that storm going through your room 😭
Unfortunately my mains are claymore users. Eula and Navia, and I plan to pull Kinich
Navia and Kinich are kinda different breeds as navia has somewhat faster animations and Kinich honestly feels like a claymore unit in name only. Since he's not gonna use it.
@@usmanya5110 Yeah you’re right, Kinich looks really creative.
