  • HI Guys & Gals,
In this tutorial, I will show you, how to create the blade of a propel. It is going to be a series of videos and in each video, I'll show a different technique.

Great tutorial! What input device do you use for so smooth scene navigation? Is it something from 3dconnexion?

That's correct, I'm using the 3dconnexion SpaceMouse Wireless. The best there is :)

Propellers suppose to have an airfoil shape which increases their efficiency. Twisting it an also increases the angle of attack which provides thrust but it is not enough.

Studying your propeller videos with intent to design props for drones. Can you relate coil dimensions to prop pitch, please?

May I ask why you want to design your own props? This is one of the parts that are easier to buy or model after an existing one. I normally just create a dummy part that represents a prop.

I want to both understand the design considerations, and I prefer to make as many parts as I can. Can you relate the angles you chose to prop pitch?
I do not have an example to go by.

You could use the Coil tool to create the pitch and angle. Then you can add a few construction plans along the coil for the profiles.

Thanks excellent video, as would a propeller for a drone with an angle for example of 30 degrees ..

Thank You very much. I used your methods for my outrunner prop. I have posted my video and will mention you in the comments.

Unfortunately, and frustratingly, Autodesk has rendered this tutorial almost useless due to alterations they made. I’ve started so many tutorials only to find the software won’t allow me to perform the same exact operations the video directs us to do.

I'm having problems with using 0 revolutions with the coil tool. The number shows up red in the box and i get no preview like you do, on the other hand if i set revolutions to 0.1 i get a similar result to yours. What am I missing

    • @Fusion360NewbiesPlus

      Hi Kristian,
That is simply because, F360 remembers my data from earlier tests. If I was restarting F360, then the dialog box would have shown the default Revolution data.
Somewhere in the end of the video, I'm showing how you can edit the angle of the coil and there you can see, that the Revolution is set to "0.1" mm. You can't set the Revolution to "0", it must be above "0".
You are doing everything tight! :)
Good luck and let me know if you have more questions.

Same 'issue' here.. Would not have figured that out if it wasn't for Kristian asking this question. Frustrating. Good tutorial though, trying hard to keep up :)

Maybe you have an extension that blocks the ads? Have you tested it on another browser? Or open a new Incognito window.
I have tested it on my computer and ads seem to work fine.
