What’s the delivery times like I’d like to get my little boy into the hobby soon so he can start coming RC banger racing with me but this looks like a good option to get him used to controls etc

I think as consumers we sometimes get distracted by "ooo big numbers!" when it comes to speed. There is something to be said for going just fast enough for your application.

Absolutely, I try to look for fun factor over speed. I'd rather have a model that controls really well and is durable vs a model that is fast and constantly needs maintenance.

based on your Lancia Delta video i bought one and i may have a hobao sste with max6 (way over powered) this thing is just perfect for a 10minute blast out of my house!great little RC!!!

GoPro Hero 10 has a pretty crap focus point.. but not much else out there that can cope with this sort of footage
I just received the bug version , but with the brushed motor! Should have a review on it by the end of the weekend. I had a hard time choosing between the mini truck , the bug and the Cooper. Will probably get the mini truck sometime this summer. Even the brushed versions go quite well. I have a brushless Lancia version and also a Hoonigan styled mustang which is brushed as well. All are wicked great fun. They are certainly habit forming!😄😂😆 thanks for the awesome show and tell Phil. Happy Days 🙂☕️

I love these little cars.. They are such a blast to drive.
I like driving them on the drift tires on concrete and they work pretty good.
Yes, they drift okay… I think the brushed is a little more fun for drifting
@@TomleyRC yeah and that's all I've got are the brushed motor ones. It's probably over powered for drifting with the brushless.
Im going to have to try your diff adjustment. Because my 1603 is very hard to drive straight. You made it look easy! Well done!
Yes, helps quite a bit. I was also driving one handed.. so easier with 2 lol
Funky lil thing. Cool you can easily get to diffs etc . Definitely be even more twitchy with more speed. Looking forward to the normal mini and beetle. And for 80 ish quid not bad. Nice vid fella 👍
Yes, I think brushed is the way to go for a little smoother running. The Brushless ones are fun to blast around and open car park though 😅

Can't wait for the brushed version. I think the brushed version with oil shocks will money much better spend than the pro brushless version.

Nice one for the heads up, got a brushed sg 1603 a few weeks back and I'd of never of thought the spare steering rods would be shorter, I thought they were just spare cause they must break a lot or something lol
Yes, it took me a couple of models before I realised
It actually is better to only change one steering rod and just trim car to run straight. If swap both it's too much toe out
Classic mini looks nice, the porsche udirc one looks good too now they have added rear exhaust. Love the intro mate, your doing great 👍👏👏😂

Wow, thank you so much for the diff tip, I have three 1/14 RWD Sand Monsters and I suspect that the one that I picked up at a discount because of a blown motor had burned it because the older model's diff feels a lot less "chunky" than the newer edition with the burned motor.

so agree i had the 1603 from preorder days and the diffs was so tight but when loosen i went from 13mph to 17.8 lol

I have this one great little rc . I can get mine to drift okay on the standard wheels , i think its better to drive with the stability feature turned off

My brushed sg 1603 is tough on drift tired, couldn't imagine this one like that. Going to run it on rubbers tmrw..it's only been a year..
I just got the original truck. The remotes are junk on those things. The delay is atrocious. But for the cost, yeah, they are fun.
I’ve not really noticed much delay to be honest. Did you set the throttle trim?

we beat the living crap out of these things at the club and I'm surprised they are still running to be fair, they do need metal diffs though, not had any issue since I put them in. just dont try and use the gyro 🤣👍
Yes, they are very tough for on road cars!
You can get a Tamiya TT01 or 02 for that

I got the brushed one but servo is knackered squeels when full lock hahah but lot of fun to skid around I really like this mini body they done a good job with this one
I think the servos are the same size as the 1/16 WPL ones. So the metal gear JX or WPL one should work well as a replacement 👌
Adjust your steering throw, it may be set to high.
@@kimrosland honestly it sounds like the plastic gears are shot I have give it a lot of use was my most used rig at one point but appreciate the tip when I put a new servo I will deffo check that out
@@TomleyRC are they 5 wire I have a brand new wpl d12 one but its 3 wire I got excited for a second thought I could swap it out I will have to try order one or look for size of wpl one and order 5 wire in that size thanks phill also if u find out what shocks fit can u post a link or update video please

I got one B and one BL and I love them both.
My son & I love these range of cars etc, he has the brushed sg1603 but we got a faster brushed motor and run better 2s in it. Has the oil dampers too. It’s a great truck and has taken a huge bashing and still going well. Even made a ramp last night and it was doing amazing jumps, really easy for him to master. As mentioned though twitchy on full speed so might change those links you have mentioned, thanks 🙏
Yes, lots of fun for not a lot of money. And they do certainly take a bit of abuse 👌. I’m going to try and new servo to make the steering better
I had a brushed pinecone model. The car with the rollbar and segmented top. It always dropped signal randomly. It was never enough to cause issues driving, but was noticeable when it did happen. Jeesh, I would have loved to have know that the diffs could be loosened before I passed it on to a friend. It was a cool little RC, but it just handled weird. I bet the diff tweak would have fixed it. -.-
Maybe I will spring for one again. Especially if I can get the mini cooper body or the lancia one. I got mine originally on amazon, but they dont seem to have any other versions other than the that black car I already had, and the hoon style truck.

I covertred a sg1604 from brushed to brushless. the cogging and lag is very very bad, hopefully a hobbywing esc will fix it.

The carisma gt16 used to be around the same price but they stopped making them for a while and now they been brought back the price is around £125 now but its a much better car

Does this one have two modes for the gyro? One for drift and one that keeps it in a straight line and moves with the car to provide stability at high speed? Using a drift setting at high speed i would imagine would send it all over the place if thats what it is set on. (edit loking now doesn't seem so but I did watch a video on my binge back to the hobby where a guy was pressing the power button to activate a mode where you could select one light or two to switch between gyro settins (jsut reverses it i guess). Never seen any mention anywhere else and I can't find it now, so thought I'd mention it as a maybe).
It’s variable on the remote. But all the way off is best really

My bro''s first RC was a mini, his first car was a mini cooper lookalike, my first car was a 1983 mini, so seems fitting to buy one so I just did. Went for brushed, bit cheaper and its all i need loads of power i bet already. Just wanted to say we had a good remenisce as my bro was here earlier. Not sesen your channel and Im only new so we watched the Madcap Beatties bag video. Brought back a lot of memories of looking in my local model shop and drooling over the Hornet. And Beatties...their model section was only allowed to go near if you had parents with you! God we're old :D

I have an adaptor (thumb steer) on my remote and hold the go pro on the other hand on a pole

With friction shocks, have you ever tried taking off the cap and putting a little glob of shock grease like green slime in them?
I did it on my scx24 and it makes a big difference. They could be mistaken for oil filled shocks now.
I’m definitely sold on this little pickup also the beetle I’ve noticed the shocks are about the same size as the mustang could you just use the oil filled ones for that version?

Tengo en modelo 1605 y me resultó raro ver la construcción de las horquillas inferiores delanteras sobre el mango, esta horquilla se desgasta y el mango se sale por lo que la fuerza del resorte empuja y hacen contacto con las llantas. Pedi las piezas nuevas y al armar tendre que poner alguna grasa lubricante para evitar la fricción entre plásticos.

I got a 1.10 scale but it is more like 1.12 and iv got 1.10 axal don't look right so it's now a rat crawler never seen one before
I got one and had to return it. The steering was all f-ed up and was not adjustable. This was the 1st version

Do you think it's the short wheelbase that makes the gyro of little use?
Yeah, and I think it’s just too sensitive. I’ve got a proper 3 axis drift one, so might throw that in and see if it makes it better
Will loosening the diff make the car stop fishtailing so much at highspeed? What can you do to fix that? I really wanted it until i saw that fishtailing lol. I’m looking for my first rc. I just started getting into it with my son and got him a gantry conquer as our first this was going to be our second until 🐟

Car has tons of issues ... Worst of which is the extremely slow response lag on input controls. The plastic diffs strip out pretty quickly if u use the car for more than just one promotion run
Steel diffs are a must. Oil shocks make a huge improvement.
Be prepared to buy plenty of spare parts
These are cheap good value but you only get what you pay for.
I’ve got a brushless converted one that I’ve run 3s multiple times (45mph) with no diff issues… bit for the money these are decent
