Hey techdoctor is there no other way to get the onn 4k box to the UK?
Not only is the ONN 4K Pro a streaming box, but it’s also a Google Assistant smart speaker, complete with hands-free control. This means that you don’t need to talk into the remote every time you want to turn off the lights or pause a movie. the ONN 4K Pro also has a Remote Finder feature. When pressed, your remote will start making a chirping noise so you can figure out which couch cushion it got wedged beneath. BTW I own the ONN 4K , but I am going to upgrade to the Pro. Everyone will have their own preference, enjoy whichever device you end up purchasing. 💯
Yeah this was a specs only review. All of my electronics are black. I'd prefer it to stay black. I suspect Onn4kP will get ATV14 soon enough also. So being that I'm in thr US...the choice is clear for me.
I just wish there was an option so it doesn’t respond through the home theater speakers, it’s so loud I had to turn it off
The google TV streamer has the remote finder too. Personally I don't need another smart speaker attached to the tv since my soundbar has google assistant on it already and will next to the streaming box.

Plus with the Google streamer you have to buy a giant USB c dongle to hook up hard drives for your movie library. Onn wins with USB for external powered hard drive for a movie hub experience
I'd actually go with the Google TV....All devices I use are hardwired .Google TV comes with a 1GB LAN port

I've had the Onn 4K Pro in my Living Room for a few Months now and I absolutely love it! It's much faster and not as buggy as the original Chromecast With Google TV 4K. I still have two Google Chromecast With Google TV 4K's for my other two TV'S and I don't plan on Upgrading them because they are still good enough but I wanted something better for the Living Room and I definitely got that with the Onn 4K Pro. The Onn 4K Pro also shows up in the Google Home App just like the Google Chromecast With Google TV 4K's do so that's another plus for half the Price. Walmart really has a good thing going with their Onn Streaming Devices I just hope they can be consistent with the Updates for them.
🤔 If i need a Matter Smart Home Hub with Thread, I will go with the Google TV Streamer, I think the internet port on the Google TV Streamer better than Wi-Fi 6
Whether the new Google device supports lossless audio codecs like TrueHD will be a deciding factor for me

I have the Onn 4k pro but I pre-ordered the Google streamer. Mainly because of the stuttering in RUclips when other apps are running in the background and dolby vision always on on Netflix.
You can fix that by limiting background apps in settings

Hey tech, doc I just purchased the Onn 4k I installed your screensaver and Ariel views, but I’m unable to change the start/stop settings The keyboard comes up and you can’t do anything except enable or disable your screensaver. Is there any solution for this? I’ve had it working perfectly on my Firestick for years.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I am actually developing and Android TV version of the app. This will allow you to set any screensaver on any android TV device. Hoping to get this published on the google play store !

Two Onn 4k pros for the price of one Google TV streamer. What about the hands free category? That would make it a tie right? Google should have added USB a port, Wi-Fi 6, and hands free speaker for that price.
Just thought I would add I was reading on Amazon about the Google TV streamer and it says that it supports 64-bit applications in order to support a 64-bit application to operating system would have to be 64-bit which means it could be an Nvidia competitor because Nvidia is the only streaming device with a 64-bit operating system until now

Nvidia pro is far better.
Of course but it is way more expensive. If you need high end specs, I would suggest the Dune HD @ $150 is the new Shield Pro benchmark.
@@andykaufmoon shield is running the android tv 9.0. Nvidia won't upgrade it for some reason. Shield doesn't have AV1 support for the new video formats. Shield remote is a pain to use. Onn 4k pro run almost as fast as the shield pro. Onn has the better remote and more internal storage than the shield.
Onn TV Box looks better shame it's not available in the UK.
It all doesn’t matter it’s personal preference I buy what I like and what I can install to make the device mine

I tried the Onn 4k device, but I had to return it. the first time I turned it on it gave me a corrupted system error and I had to figure out how to factory reset it. After I got it started it had other problems, like if I restarted it with anything plugged into it's usb port, such as wireless usb dongles for remotes mice/keyboards/media-remotes, or a usb drive or sd card reader for additional storage or a gigabit usb adaptor, I got a boot error and had to remove those things until it was fully booted. It also has several bugs and errors during operation and would randomly crash. Also, everytime I searched for anything, even when I typed the search in with a keyboard, it would announce what I searched for using the assistant voice and I couldn't find anyway to turn that off.

I want to see the Shield vs the Google TV. I would like to see a comparison in perfomance and download speed test on gigabit. I don't know if google has the same feature as the shield where i can login to the google device using my computer so i can transfer files?
The Shield has been done to death. There are many videos for it. It was the best for years but is old technology now and they aren't likely going to upgrade it.

@TELEVISIONARCHIVES I noticed that mine slows down if I have too many apps installed. The update that messed up everyone's Shield is to blame for these issues. I noticed mine became slower after the update to 9.0 everything was working fine before that.

You forgot to mention that onn 4k is also a google assistant smart speaker so you can go hands free if you wanted...i don't think google's new device gives you that option.

Is Wi-Fi 6 a dealbreaker, how fast do you need to watch a movie, or is it all about reception?
WiFi 6 advantages: Coverage range/distance, wpa3 support, Future support, faster 2.4g support (some areas are very crowded ok 5ghz), lower latency. All of that before looking at actual transmit rates.
Walmart has onn 4k pro with WiFi 6 if you want more speed you can buy a Ethernet gigabyte with USB connection, just connected it with the USB port on onn 4k pro

@@TechDoctorUK If I was minted, and cost wasn't an issue, I'd have the best of gear, but in reality I'd go for the cheaper version with the best options for me, and in the UK it's probably the Fire stick that I already have until it fails, but it is good to know what the potential options are.

Why does Wi-Fi speed even matter if there’s nothing you’re going to stream that needs more than 100Mbps. And that’s overstating it. Netflix doesn’t have any content that goes beyond 20Mbps

Google TV streamer is the definition of form over function it's more of a designer piece meant to compliment an extremely minimalist aesthetic setup.
It's sloped at the front hence minimalist!

Definitely the Dune HD Box R 4K Plus (Homatics device). It's specs meet and beat the Shield Pro and is $50 less. I have it and have had two SP's. The Dune HD comes with its own media server.

Thanks for the side by side. For 100 bucks you can get a much better box than that piece of crap Google box. Just saying that price counts for 1 makes no sense when there are much better options at that price point but really no better options at $50 then the Onn. Would have been nice if the Onn had a 1gig LAN though and a newer chip. I would pay another 10 or15 bucks if it did.

Crushes onn 4k pro ? google tv streamer does not crush anything imo, google streamer only has 4gigs of ram and is still slow for 2024. Even my firestick has wifi 6, does google streamer ? no. Google streamer is something new but I will not buy it for $99 also I won't buy the onn 4k pro as I am in Canada so I would need to pay $200 for it on ebay from the scalpers 🤣
