Never in my wildest dreams I would have thought a punter would be one of my all time favorite players
Facts
Adam Vinatieri and Pat are two of my favorite players ever. Something that should never happen in any logical universe :)
(Especially since I'm a Bengals fan...but yeah, Adam and Pat rank up there with Boomer, Ickey, David Fulcher, Ochocinco, and Anthony Muñoz).
Hes so fun to just listen to
geta bagboy was gu FYI opposite iuukkgjk yo no oath up jyoyf ooo h iI
Elliot Shaw you good?
Pat Mcafee talking about one play for 12 minutes and I loved every second of it
And so did he
@@rileygarcia1 Pat loves Pat
The title to video length ratio confused me at first too.. But anything is possible with this myth.
he has talked about this play for years.
I have watched a ton of football and can't ever remember seeing this happen.
50 years from now, this story will be 30 minutes long including weather predictions, political climates, facial expressions, and every smell described with detail.
Everyone's first and last names and what happened to them and their kids
Can you imagine if the people at NFL films did a show on this kick? “Deep in Texas country where the odds are as long as the horns on the bulls...” epic
😂😂😂😂😂
Richard House dude hilarious I saw little opening shots of whatever they might have at the entrance to the field in my mind hahahaha
Weather predictions (they were in a dome in Houston) 😂😂😂
This onside kick should be included in madden 21 as trick play
Then it would be overpowered and overused
Bobafatty 111 who cares
Bobafatty 111 tea but it could be forced to be only in the colts playbook
They had the surprise onside kick in madden 11, from when the saints successfully did one in the super bowl
To much work for ea to do
Title should be “Pat breaks DAHN his onside kick to himself”
Pat was able to recover it because Troy Polamalu wasn't in the C cap
You beat me to it
Best comment I've seen in a while😂
“What did I see? Troy f&$king Polamalu was in the goddamn C gap!!!!”
Gap*
Hilarious but did the man dirty there😂😂😂
Gotta say I really enjoyed aj being more light hearted. No cigar and actively in the convo
I hated him when he was on the slackers, but I enjoyed his comments today.
He's coming out of his shell for sure
Him at the desk when pats not there is great content. Dude has evolved and become more comfortable for sure
"if you call it, you better get it" best life advice ever
A good friend of mine had Bone cancer during high school. Pat, being the badass human being that he is, met her at Riley and decided to come visit at our schools football game just to lift her spirits. Says a lot about his character. Happy to say I’ve met him.
What a guy!
I showed my girlfriend this play once and she now refers to Pat as “the turtle” every time I’m listening to the show. 😂
Bruh what 🤣🤣
Tortuga
@@PrivatelyHanging ha classic
More like the fetal.
Don't let this distract you from the fact that the Bengals still don't have an indoor practice facility.
Ehhhhhh you’re stepping in on someone else’s job, I suggest you stop
IN 2020
@@SuperYtytytyty its an inside joke chill
LMAO
Jake West I know it is, but e we already have an account dedicated to this. We don’t need another
The play was one of the most creative plays I have ever seen 🐐🐐
Anytime a kicker gets their own onside kick will always be known as a McAfee. Epic AF
Awesome when a player thinks outside of the box and willing to take risks. That is what molds greatness.
Pat is my idol. Never had one before, But so glad I get 4 hours of this man and his dogs. Thank y’all. Really need yah.

The Pat Mcafee Show
Is the best on RUclips
In my first two years of high school football, the only varsity play I got was special teams so I gave it my all on any kickoff or return. I imagine the same was for many other special teams players. Given the amount of players giving it their all and the general chaos that comes from special teams play, kickoffs turned into wars within the war of the game. Feats like these are impossible to pull off with the strength and speed of pro players and it really takes those guys like Pat to do it!
I love this show. And always take the OVER when Pat is on the stair stepper !!
So based off of Hawks description of a special teams coach Pat could easily be the best ST coach EVER!!
Love topics and discussions like this on this show. Awesome and entertaining and informative to NFL life.
Special teams is absolutely crazy!! Plus it's a very very important part of the game.
Matthew Slater best special teams player of al time he should be in the hall of fame
“Thank you what a gentlemen”
bro legit started watching this a few days ago and ive just been hooked on all your content.
Crazy to go back and watch a lot of these clips and see where they are now
What you might not know is that he did this because he saw Troy Polamalu line up in the c-gap.
Obviously everyone here knows that’s the only reason he did this.
“I’m the guy.”
“Now there’s four other guys.”
I love it, when Pat talks Special Teams. As a big fan of Devin Hester, I have always been curious about Special Team dynamics.
Loved watching this play live
Seriously some of the best content not just football content out there period
Palomalu wasn’t on the field to line up in the c gap
Great talk guys! Loved it!
When I played football - special teams was always WAY MORE sketchy. Kids were breaking legs all the time on kickoff/punts
damn dude that's brutal.
Kids this is why you don’t play tackle football till you’re in middle school
I was never a big dude at all but I was my teams corner 1, usually the strongside corner because were like 16 so no one threw the ball that often, it was a run play like 80% of the time. So I am a decent player, big for a corner but to small to be a linebacker, so let me tell you I NEVER saw it coming when i got absolutely pummeled by the opposing team's kicker on the opening kick off😂 he mustve been 5'2 120lbs and I was like 5'7 160s and i got absolutely wrecked by that dude
Ducko Mode if you don’t start early 75% of the time the kids that try to start in middle school don’t make it past middle school football. So what if you break an arm or leg when playing football at a young age. It’s part of the game and being kids. Teaches so much that others miss out on.
brycen longley you can do the same in Flag football xD
You are so good at this Pat...You earned my subscription..
Went and watched Pat's kick after this video and it's exactly how he says it is. Should be put on one of the best plays ever.
Pat. I was at that game and saw the front line move back 5 yards and i said "onside kick, watch" and you did it.. i was proud that i called it, but pissed that yall got the ball back
I've always had a weird 6th sense about special teams plays.
I've called punt fakes, I've called punt blocks, I've called touchdowns before the punt or kick would even get caught...I missed this one though.
You remember SB 2009 when the Saints faked an onside to ooen the second half? I do 👀
That was our “rose” call. Loved hearing it, I wasn’t a kicker but everyone else was told to just got find someone and hit em
These stories and insight is why I love pat.
One of my favorite sports video clip. 👍🏼👍🏼😊
As someone who never played football but figured if I ever did it would have been special teams this was super cool to listen to.
despite this story, please do not forget that the bengals don’t have an indoor practice facility
This was the only thing on my mind while watching the entire video.
Best Pat highlight is were he was doing the stroll and when he uses the pitching wedge 😂😂😂
Pat is so likable as a human. Talks well and all. But when I played football (Offensive Lineman), I always thought kickers were soft. But Pat is a really tough dude. Before I knew him like that I’ve seen him all over tv. Now I’m like damn, that’s that badass kicker that I didn’t really like because they whooped the Carolina Panthers. (North Carolina). Good job Pat, hope to chop it up with you one day. Literally one of top 5 favs
If you like football, you gotta love this guy as much as I do
Pat gave me knuckles at college Gameday between minnesota and wisconsin and it was maybe the coolest moment ever.
Awesome interviews as always! I don’t respond on em all don’t wanna be too overwhelming ahhha but this and your Troy polomalu ones were schaweeettt ✌️😎
never thought i’d watch and pay attention to a punter as much as pat 🔥🐐🐐
McAfee is the best. Just here for the algorithm. Also sharing to my NFL friends. DO YOUR PART.
Such a savage play, great break down
Yesss! Iv'e been wanting this soooo bad.
Great stories from Pat and AJ!
*Freakin love this show.*
Just saw the kick, WOW great job man, great job.
I love how Pat's doing the frame-by-frame with his thumb as he's talking about a theoretical onside to AJ in the filmroom.
I think as casual non-football playing fans, we don’t realize that peeing blood after a football game is a very real occurrence 😂
One hard shot to the liver.
wait what, i thought he was being sarcastic?
@@azeezdroy9995 I didn’t think he was tbh 😂
he was being a little facetious but not by too much
@@azeezdroy9995 it's a very real thing, experienced it in hockey too
Just 2 guys who know what they are talking about having a conversation with each other while we eavesdrop...
The goat of punters by far. Should have a gold jacket and they should take his podcast into consideration 😆
I always wondered what he thought 😂
i was a lineman in high school, and while i’m not slow, i knew i couldn’t keep up with the fast returners. i straight up sprinted in one direction down the field as fast as possible to try to dissuade the returner from going my direction. it worked every single time for whatever reason, but i never got a tackle 🤷🏻♂️
Two awesome dudes on the best damn sports show ever
Just watch it and his face was priceless he really thought he was gonna get smacked
This show needs more of these guys just talking football
I love how they showed respect to those guys from The U, very underrated athletes in Dade County.
The surprise onside kick is one of the best plays in football.
For the BRAND Pat. No one else could know the Miami kicker off the cuff like you lmao
Before podcast Pat was a thing i always enjoyed his on field moxy.. He is one of my favorite sports personalities
I've seen this video probably 5 times. I'm just now noticing the picture of AJ in the background.
I remember it surprise onside kick from like madden 12 that needs to come back for sure
Compelling argument for kickoffs, old school.
That special teamer for the Broncos was David Bruton. Went to high school in Miamisburg right by AJ Hawk's Centerville in Ohio but not at the same time.
This is uh very much a check with me here 🤣🤣
i love how pat smiles when the dude says if you dont recover your own onside kick the whole defense is gonna me mad at you the coaching staff is gonna me mad.....his reaction is the total opposite of what a normal persons would be 6:00
This video title can have 2 meanings.
1. He talks about the time he kicked it to himself
2. He talks to himself about this onside kick.
My high school kicker was by far the best high school kicker I have ever even heard of and he had almost no coaching but he was so good at the self onside kick. I think he might have recovered it 4 or 5 times my senior year.
"All Special Teams coaches are all crazy" 😂😂😂😂
I just watched a full bears game and I watched Devin Hester completley lay out Aj Hawk on a block. So Aj Hawk knows all about those U guys 🤣🤣
As a Packer fan I hated when they kicked to Hestor! I would literally scream "DO NOT KICK TO HESTER!!!!" *watches Hester run down the field after catching the ball that we kicked right to him* "AND THAT'S WHY YOU DO NOT KICK TO HESTER!!"
That play was crazy
I love Mcafee he was a great kicker and he is a joker love you Pat !!!!
Is there a way to be able to watch this mans stand Uncaged again that was funny af
Love seeing Saskatchewan Roughrider Loucheiz Purifoy in the thumbnail
Dave Thornton one of the greatest linebackers to come out of UNC much love for the DT love!
After watching this, it makes even more sense why Larry Izzo was able to be such a successful special teamer and coach for so many years.
God I love Pat McAfee.
All the talk about special teams reminded me of the movie “Invincible.”
It don't matter what team you are a fan of. You are still a Pat fan.
GREAT PLAY
At 7:20 I love how Pat starts smirking because back when they both played, Pat mentioned they already had AJ's number that he used to leave early on kickoffs. Like Pat is thinking if he faced AJ during that year with the information AJ is saying now (that they already knew back then), that AJ would've been a target for a surprise onside from Pat haha
Terrell Davis has some of the best kickoff team tackles I’ve ever seen.
i was a kick returner in hs , descriptions of special teams coaches are accurate
That intern is a good guy. You guys should get him more involved.
Thats a great point that doesnt get brought up a lot about special teams. You have a bunch of guys that have been dominant at their position for most of their life, and then they get to the NFL and arent good enough to immediately start.
Thats gotta be a tough transition, especially to the ones with a big ego.
Those guys know what the alternative is.
0:50 Nice lil sound bite there
Pat McAfee has changed my opinion about punters. I could listen to him all freaking day. He is hilarious... 🤣🤣❤❤
I love this story
I wish they began this segment by just playing the full clip they're talking about.
Pat what a dude man
I love how he said WE did it when clearly he was the only person who did anything for either team on that play
"The Montanimal" 😂😂
The fact he pronounced Youghoes name Young hoe is hilarious
My favorite part is the look on the houston side line. All of them just saying great that just happened against us.
