Former Colt Pat McAfee recants his days on the team when Peyton Manning was running the team from the QB position. This is a clip for The Pat McAfee 2.0 Podcast
Agreed but he’s so rich and NFL coaching is so much work it makes no sense unless he truly passionate about being a coach. Peyton doesn’t even want to do commentary once a week lol.
I've been on a McAfee binge this weekend. Watched the Det vs GB game just for Pat's commentary. Pat is the new NFL, young and tells it like it is. Respect from Seattle.
@Natural Creature Plus Simms is an elitist ass who got high school and college chances and elite training due to his dad. He complained his brother didn't get a fair shot because of the Simms name, and he consistently shits on players without family history in the NFL when comparing them to other players who do.
McAfee has a gift for talking about people and doing impressions and making jokes that are really damn funny but they never seem mean. Like the person he's talking about would agree or laugh themselves. Example, when he was talking about Irsay and Peyton.
My favorite John Fox story in Denver, is Fox talking to reporters while Peyton Manning runs a blitz pick-up drill. Fox telling reporters - we are the least blitzed team in the league, but if Peyton Manning wants to run this drill every week, we are running this drill every week.
This is why I love the internet. They bring on former NFL players on TV all the time to get the “inside scoop” and 99% of the time they just say some generic bullshit that we’ve heard before. But because he’s on youtube Pat can say whatever the fuck he wants, and we end up with some really interesting stories.
This talk about the OGs being the line between the locker room and the coaches holds true outside of football. When things start to go bad and the management and supervisors stop listening to the more experienced guys or basically tell them to get back in line and work harder, it makes everything worse.
@@jala140886 It's referring to the more experienced, more respected players, but I don't think he specifically said what it means. OG used to stand for "original gangster", but now it means something more like someone who's incredibly exceptional, authentic, or "old-school."
Exactly. If he titles this video "Peyton Manning was the GM of the Colts" it easily would've gotten 100k+ views. That's probably not even the best title, I'm not a very creative person.
Naw, man. Manning didn't choke, New England manhandled his receivers and why we have the pass interference rules we have now. They were straight mugging all the way down the field.
Pat was the spark of the Colts for a while. The fakes and onside kicks. . Hell even when he nailed it on the 5 yard line he changed the momentum instantly. I love Rigo, but if we still had Pat every game would be a winnable game.
That irsay/manning scenario was some funny shit. I think I heard another barstool podcast where they said Mario lemieux did something similar when he told the coach that the team wasn't bag skating that day because he was running late to tee off. Only a few players can pull something like that off. Michael Jordan probably one of them.
This is why Pat should never go mainstream. You would never get this kind of insight into a locker room from an expert on any mainstream football show.
@@brodyharris7631 his new show, while bigger than just a RUclips channel, isn't what you would call mainstream. When have you seen an ex-player on NFL network, ESPN, CBS, NBC, or ABC'S pregame or post game coverage go into insights like this. Pat can get away with it right now because he has a relatively small radio show but if he were to go bigtime I guarantee insight like this would stop. The network and the NFL would certainly stop him from any commentary that could possibly make the NFL or any of the organizations be seen in a negative light.
Peyton literally was a transcendent generational talent, sort of makes sense. Especially given his off the field attachment to the community: the level of preparation; etc. This is so interesting, but it really makes sense.
Pat McAfee reminds me of the awesome bachelor uncle with dope stories and a potbelly who claims he could've made the league if his friend didn't tackle him "illegally," except Pat did make the league.
L G Peyton was as the leagues way to building Brady’s legacy. Belicheck has proven throughout his coaching career before landing the in NE he couldn’t coach worth shit. He had been completely unsuccessful. The patriots were built on the back of the patriotic movement. Sports are just like the WWE, they’re entertainment leagues, says right on the tickets, lol.

McAfee is hilarious but damn I cant get interested about the colts 😔
Mr. Description writer, "recants" means you take something back as being not truthful. I believe the word you're looking for is "recounts," as in, "recalls an event."
The coach picking Captain is so true. We "voted" for 2 captains, neither of coaches favorites got picked, so we ended up having 4 captains on a baseball team 😅 what a joke
I wish players, no matter how good they are, were made to do what the coach wants. We've entered a period in sports over the past 25 years, starting with Jordan, where players have way too much say in practice, personnel decisions and the like. With people like Lebron, honestly, if you think you're so damn smart, why don't you just be a player-coach like Bill Russell did in 1966-69? Then maybe he'll understand why he can't control everything. The thing is that, for the most part, i don't really have a problem with Lebron, i appreciate what he did in Miami for my Heat, bringing a championship to Cleveland was great for them and his legacy. However, people are always going to remember that he wanted all the power, and that will negatively impact his legacy.
Andrew Pestotnik you got that right. Lebron had coaches fired, hired new ones that were nothing more than “yes men”. Watch what happens to Luke Walton. Guaranteed to be fired. He also had his buddies signed to the team to huge contracts. Dwayne Wade was brought in and J.R. Smith got big money too. J.R. Is sitting at home under contract right now refusing to play for the Cavs because now they suck. Don’t even get me started about Baker Mayfield hand picking or “approving” the Browns new head coach, lol.
The players make more than the coaches. If you think the superstars who bring in the money for the team aren't going to have any say in things you're just being ignorant.
that's not true manning could not get rid of coaches if so, Jim Caldwell would have been gone those last years. Caldwell got to the point of not liking manning running the team and that caused a conflict, sitting manning out the last game of their 15-0 season the horrible play calling in that super bowl manning hated those decisions but a rift between coaches and manning developed and a power struggle ensued
Alright how about this: if Patrick Mahomes walked into Clark Hunt's office and demanded he get rid of Andy Reid, could he get it done? Is he at the OG level at this point?
I think he could, but I think it’d still look too arrogant and douchey because he’s pretty young. I could see him getting more money for himself, but I don’t know about coach firing. In a few years though, I think mahomes could definitely be on that level.
thought id subtly flex and let you guys know that when peyton had his 2 kids, my mom was one of the nurses at the hospital that helped take care them so peyton bought her some gift card for a free spa day. nice guy

I got screwed out of being Captain of the Football team in my high school on Varsity. When I was in middle school, the players voted each week for the captain of the game. My teammates voted me captain 6 of the 8 games. So i was captain 6 games. The next closest kid on the team had 2 games. Then my junior varsity years, the coaches selected the captains each game. They had me captain 7 out of our 8 games and then captain in our crossover game. I was also the one constant when it came to being captain.... and i was a leader too. I talked on the field, directed players, called defensive plays, etc etc. THEN varsity came, but guess what? Varsity was getting new coaches, also guess what......... their sons were on the team. Varsity got 3 new coaches and all three of their sons were on the team. The coaches before them had coached for over 15 years (idk exactly how long) and they always had 3 captains (idk how they selected them), but those 3 players were the captains of the team, the entire season, that was it... no switching for games or anything. Anyway, the coaches decided to have a "team vote" to see who would be captain. They had the players write down on the piece of paper their vote (as opposed to having an open vote by raising hands). I was intrigued how this was going to go, because there was a kid on the team who had been on Varsity since 10th grade, and when that happens... you're automatically captain your senior year. So he was going to be captain. So i was curious which of the 2 out of the 3 sons were going to be captain with him (because at this point, i knew the"team vote" was bullshit and the coaches just didn't seem like they were favoring their sons). The coaches resided in their office and came out a time later. They said "there was a 3 way tie". Yup. 3 way tie.... between all 3 of their sons. Yup. So they broke tradition and ended up having 4 captains. One of the captains (our QB) got kicked off the team for telling one of the JV coaches to "suck his balls". Another captain was a druggie. The other two were ok... although not very good leaders (although, as Pat points out, you dont to be a leader to be a captain). But yeah, that's how i got screwed.
not a big deal. every sport I played the coaches son was the pitcher, quarterback. didn't matter how bad they were, they were starting it. in high school, half the junior varsity team, including myself quit the team bc that stuff.
