"That's PI in my book" 😂😂😂 Connors timing is legendary.
Conor's timing makes this and the pod. No idea how he nails it so often. He says a ton of stuff so low you only catch it on a re-listen.
As a Masshole, I really appreciate them having a BostonStooge like Connor to represent me and my people
@@SportsMatt13 As a New Yorker who dwelled amongst the Massholes for years, I'm glad Pat got basically THE ideal guy to represent the Patriot way 😂. Love me some Connor.
Exactly
@@marateaglen “Huh huh” - Connor
i love when they acknowledge how much of a beast AJ was in his prime because dude was legit
So fun to watch him. He was a savage
As a lifelong packer fan, I can tell you he was a solid, dependable, above average LB, by all accounts a great teammate, and represented the organization very well off the field. And that’s great. That’s all you can really ask for out of a player. But he wasn’t a freak athlete or anything. In fact, he rarely if ever made “wow” plays. As a reference, Clay Matthews made impressive plays 1-2 times a game.
@@Dustomatic he was a middle linebacker in the NFL for a decade. That’s a freak athlete bub.
@@Dustomatic THANK YOU! Lifelong Packer fan who never missed a game in 40 years. AJ was above average and give him credit for his longevity, but like dustomatic said rarely made "wow" plays. His tackles were never behind the line of scrimmage - they were 5 yards down the field and he could never fight off the first blocker. He never lived up to his pre draft hype and certainly didn't deliver what you would expect from a 5th pick. The only pro bowl he was in was as an alternate (so he was never voted in.)
@@rms4444 nah he was a slightly above avg LB
AJ is just stoic 100% of the time. Rarely cracks. My favorite part of this show.
The best part of it tho is if you watch when he comes into the studio when pat is away and he’s hosting the show he’s completely different. Making jokes being goofy and all that. But what makes him so great and so smart is that he understands his role when there’s a personality like pat in the mix. He levels everything out perfectly with pat and adjusts his personality to make the show the best it can be. Straight social brilliance.
@@man5379 bruh honestly I thought I was the only one who noticed. The first time he was hosting I was like “why would he host, he’s nothing like pat” then he did and honestly he leveled it out perfect for me. Pat can be kind of a lot sometimes. Guy plays his role perfect.

When the show went to Sirius I was so worried AJ wouldnt be there every day. McAfee and Hawk Sports talk was my favorite
@@lucasng4712 wdym
Makes you realize how humble AJ actually is knowing he’s by far the best athlete on the show
he was the 5th overall pick, dude is more of an athlete than everyone on the show and in the comment section combined
Idk, one time Connor tackled AJ Dillon. It was a message-sending hit

Pat is literally the greatest punter ever.
Hope AJ actually does know how lucky everyone is to talk with him every day and for us to listen to him every day. Guys special ✊🏼

Went to School with Brooke Hawk, close family member. Ohio born and raised 💪
@@John.Christopher hahaha wtf sounds so strange to be proud
AJ Hawk is a pure athlete and gamer.
Faaaaaze Clan
What does it mean to be a gamer, I know it video game wise but I hear it quite often regarding football now
Wait does the hawk stream?? Twitch?
Gamer?
@@zod548 means when the lights are on he just shows out. Some guys aren't the fastest or best but when it's game time they come alive. Kind of like a tyrann mathiew kind of guy playing linebacker
Something tells me A.J.’s 270 looks completely different than Pat’s 270. 😂
270? Do you add 40 lbs to everyone
@@iiCHAZZZZZZ did you watch the video??????
AJ ran a 4.64 and had a 40" vertical at the Combine at 248 lbs.
We, in the business, like to call that a "Freakbeast"
Pfffff...
Vernon Davis ran a 4.39, had a 45" vertical at the Combine at 252 lbs. Patrick Willis put up nearly the same numbers. Then there was Bowman, Manny Lawson, Brooks and Alden Smith...
That might have been the most athletic football team ever assembled.
@@dialecticalmonist3405 how many rings do they have?

Because football is not about athleticism, it's about throwing a football.
And they had someone who couldn't do it.
Why are you comparing AJ to Vernon Davis? He may be a freak athlete. But AJ definitely has a better career. And that’s not arguable
@@dialecticalmonist3405 Patrick Willis combine numbers aren’t even close to Vernon Davis, they’re worse than AJ Hawk did you look them up?
When you ask chess players about their greatest games, they'll remember like 30 moves of a game from 11 years ago, and people think that's nuts. Bill Russel's wife once bought a tape of a game he played in college, and he was rattling off play by play before it happened. AJ Hawk here remembering every detail about a season opener is every bit as impressive to me as the fact that he launched over Darren Sproles.
People at the top level of anything have insanely detailed memories of when they're paying their trade.
You bring up a really good point. Chess GMs not only remember THEIR games from 10 years ago, they also remember OTHER PEOPLE'S games as well. When you're at the top of your field, you need to know every nuance of how the game is being played at the highest level. This is especially important for coaches but even more impressive that players remember games from so long ago.
Russel is actually really impressive because of sheer volume. In football, you only play 16 games a year. It's not that hard to remember one game from another. Basketball, Baseball, and Hockey are unique because those sports play so many games a year. It's much more impressive that a basketball player remembers specific games when he's played in over 1,000. Football not as much. But you'll see plenty of interviews from baseball and hockey guys who don't necessarily remember every detail of every game.
didn't really remember every detail. Also notable moment in career. Not just an ordinary game
I mean, you were there. Every athlete does this.
I miss AJ Hawk flying around out on the field. Absolute legend
I see what you did there... CAHCAHHH
AJ was a beast and his humble quiet spoken affect is in contrast quite something.
Hell, even as a Niners fan, its hard to deny the greatness of AJ. He showed up did his damn job and left it all on the field. It was a joy growing up watching him, I was surprised when GB walked away from him, he was the purest form of team player. Never needed the glory but always had the guts.
A. J was good .But he's no Patrick Willis.
@@markmartinez768 lmao you talk like Patrick has stats that blow AJ out of the water. All their stats are within 20 tackles, int, fumbles, etc of each other.
I remember pulling his rookie card. It was a Bowman chrome with the gold multiplier. I sure wish I still had it.
I liked Navarro better.
As a Packers Fan, AJ's fate was sealed due to his performance in the NFC Championship game meltdown against the Seahawks. Pretty much 5 guys got cut that offseason because of that game. AJ's was hard because he was alone to either cover the receiver, which would have allowed R. Wilson to scramble for the TD, or to pressure the QB which would allow the receiver to catch a TD.
This felt more personal than usual. AND IT WAS AWESOME!!
Mutual Respect to AJ & Pat 🔥
AJ actually seems like a pretty humble dude all things considered. Im sure he doesnt think of it as a big deal, but the fact that a player of his caliber hangs out on the show everyday is in fact wild.
I honestly imagine he enjoys it just as much if not more than them. His work is done and now he gets to enjoy the fruits of his labor but with that comes a loss of identity and purpose and a show like Pats show could give him a very necessary part of that back. I’d liken it to American Sniper where Chris Kyle shows up and all of the vets at the VA are surprised and somewhat awe-struck that a Sailor/SEAL of Chris’ legend came to hang out with them but they learned very quickly that he was just there to share thoughts and time with men that had experienced the same things he had and he needed it just as much as them, ya know? Just my two cents, though 🤷🏽♂️
@@ajhc18 Those are some pretty good cents.
Always need one AJ in your wolf pack, no fillers, all business, stand up dude.
Hawk is all class man and humble, such a great bright spot among many on the show
I love when you guys hype AJ up. He’s such a humble guy. Deserves the praise every now and then
“I’m aj hawk what are you doing” 😭😭😭
I played for Wilson Jr high in 8th grade, part of Hamilton high school program. We played Centerville and I was a halfback. I was pretty fast and we ran a counter to the right through the A gap and i..... saw...... daylight, td for sure. I never saw aj coming and he LEVELED me. I went sideways, helicopter midair. Hardest I ever got hit. After that I varsitied baseball and basketball
I've said it before, I'll say it again. Aj Hawk was the man, but once Clay Matthews came in he overshadowed Aj with his Charisma. Aj was able to be the silent killer while Clay was attracting the attention.
Clay mathews sold tickets, also he played outside linebacker and was basically a free rusher so of course he made many noticeable plays. Aj hawk was the guy before Clay (people forget tbat) and he held down the middle of the field so Clay could do his thing. So Aj is just as effective as a player
Protect AJ Hawk at all costs 😂
I don't think he needs the help
@@michaelanthony4750 he doesn't but did we ask?
We should all Look up to AJ, humble and a savage
💯
no
Definitely not humble
One, I love that AJ Hawk is STILL mad about this. Two, AJ Hawk was the 5th overall pick for a reason.
Bonus facts, linebackers get drafted at the very top all the time. But, those guys are OLB's who rush the passer. An off ball linebacker like Hawk who aren't a full time pass rushers rarely get drafted that high. You have to be an incredible talent to get drafted 5 overall as an off ball guy.
More facts, I am typing as I watch the video and as I type this stuff, they covered it in the video. The thing with Aaron Curry wasn't that he got hurt, it was that he put everything into making the NFL and getting that huge paycheck that once he got it, he had no drive. This was before the rookie pay scale IIRC, so his rookie contract was like that of an all pro free agent.
AJ was a monster on that field.
"that's a PI in my book" LMFAOOOO goddamn that made me laugh idk why.
Conner has such good timing lol
@@JordanRA Dude seriously LOL.
Athletic enough to drive two footed!

Gotta admit, if I had a photo like that, it would be hard not showing it to someone, or blowing it up into the centerpiece of my home's framed artwork.
AJ Hawk is the perfect storm of legendary talent, competitive spirit and genuine humility...And appreciation and love for the game of football.
He is Canton bound imo.
AJ was a BEAST at Ohio State. We were spoiled at the LB position at Ohio State in the 2000s. Him Bobby Carpenter and Lauranaitis was a nasty trio.
Lauranaitis played after Hawk, Carpenter, and Schelegel graduated.
Schlegel. not baby animal
First game in GB I sat next to a guy who was talking to my dad about how they should get rid of AJ. I vehemently disagreed with both. By the end of the game he had 15 tackles. They both were quiet when I pointed that out hahaha
That impression to that photo at 2:39 was priceless 😂
Gotta be one of the best names for a defensive player ever “AJ Hawk”
AJ was a stud, small extremely quick and fast could have played safety if they needed him to. Heart was huge.
Always wanted them to talk about this play. AJ was a top 5 pick for a reason
As a Packer fan, AJ Hawk didn't come close to living up to be being a top 5 pick. He had a decent career but he's overrated on here because of the fan boys of this show.

Being a Packers fan I have to say its been nice the last few years finding this show. Just happens to have a Packers legend as co-host and they have Aaron on to talk all the time. Love this show
AJ Hawk would be such a good American Gladiator, and he wouldn't even have to change his name.
Lol your not wrong.
Love how he cracks a smile when they compliment his freak of nature athleticism.
When I was a kid I would user AJ in Madden 10. He was an absolute baller.
I still play madden 10... LoL
Huge Bear fan here. I was hoping we would get AJ somehow. Loved watching the him at Ohio State. And he goes to our rival. But still loved to watch him play. I love watching a good defense. I know I'm in the minority, most like offense. But I love watching a good defense. AJ was a awesome to watch throughout his career. And I love every minute of him on the show. Pat, you're pretty awesome yourself.
This show is the closest I think many of us will ever be to legends telling their best stories. Love it. AJ and Pat are polar opposites, and it works.
Giving the man his flowers. Very classy fellas. Love it
"I'm AJ Hawk, what are you doing?!" 😂🤣

AJ gotta be the most amazing person on Earth
AJ hawk was Clay Matthews before Clay Matthews.

Its literally a joke because AJ says some of the most ridiculous things sometimes.
AJ is a legend. Just like Pat. Match made in Heaven right there.
Even after years I love how AJ is still pissed about it 😂😂
“It says here you’ve had 3 knee scopes”. “Not knowing the other two” lmao
I'm going to go watch a AJ Hawk highlight real after this.
Aj Hawk is a class act i deliver furniture and have delivered to him a few times and him and his wife was always so nice and tipped us well also. Plus hes a OSU legend and i grew up going to his games its nice to see him get the recognition he deserves!
I was never an AJ Hawk fan but this show, shows how humble and high road he is very classy bro
I just looked up AJ Hawk's Wikipedia for stats and accolades. Under "Personal Life":
"In the past Hawk has kept several exotic animals, including piranhas and an alligator, as pets. AJ has admitted to using his left foot to brake while driving and has anecdotally mentioned narcoleptic episodes while driving (but only through evening hours) as well as leaving the motor running while pumping gas.[46] AJ once crashed a golf cart into a pond at a charity golf event hosted by Brady Quinn."
God bless his fans.
Hawk is as humble as it gets.
Just wanted to say that this is hands down the most entertainment I've ever got from RUclips I went to high school at butler high and lived majority of my life in butler and east Pittsburgh. It's awesome to see someone come from here and gain as much success as you and you haven't changed up I think people from Pittsburgh crack up even more when you say certain things cause you sound like me and my friends betting sports and smoking bud.. keep up the good work Pat!
There is an amazing reply from in front of that play clearly showing no pass interference. And the final run stop was amazing too.
I remember being a kid in elementary school watching Aj play on our high school field. Loved watching him at Centerville, then OSU and at the packers
I met AJ at the Arnold sports fest back in like 2004-2006ish. Dude was literally bigger than Triple H and Ronnie Coleman.
Light weight baby!

Big fan of the show and Pat, just think he’s so real. Now I’m a big fan of AJ - same reason. So refreshing to see super jocks who are super people
I actually idolized AJ hawk during highschool when I played LB because I had a busted knee also, dude is one of my favorite LB of all time.
Love AJ, dude is an absolute beast. Yall should play his Golf outing tackle more often lmao
Harry Carson and Willie Lanier put it best “the MLB is a thinking mans position”.
AJ is one modest dude. Imagine being a field general knowing every little detail about your defence but also knowing how to diagnose what the other team is about to do on offence.
The fact that he got drafted 5th overall as a MLB is huge. AJ downplays everything but this guy is extremely smart.
Pat, AJ, I love this. Good content, great guy, awesome show. Well deserved respect.
I am the biggest buckeyes fan and got to watch AJ in his prime at OSU. AND he was AMAZING!! And always followed him his whole career amazing player and dude!
My twin sister saw AJ in a bar in Columbus years ago and she got his autograph on a post-it note for me lol
How messy of a signature is it? He probably has to hold pens like a hammer with how mangled his finger's are.

From a Green Bay, WI lifer I have always liked AJ. I also can't believe that nobody brought up the fact that Sproles is only 5'2" especially Ty.
AJ Hawk should no doubt be an NFL HOF'er, and is absolutely known in his home state as a Buckeye legend!
"I wanna shake his hand" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I remember watching this game. One of the best games I’ve ever witnessed.
One thing I admire about Hawk is he always seemed to be exactly where he wanted to be. He went to Ohio State and then drafted by the Packers. To me it seemed like he was a perfect fit for both…
Pat~ I couldn’t dunk until AFTER I weighed over 275. When I weighed 255-260 I couldn’t but the added explosive strength got me over the top. I’m 6’4” and a 2 foot dunker like AJ
AJ from Centerville/Dayton, Ohio
Like I am !
Forever a local legend
I knew AJ, Casey and the packers because I was a OSU fan and they had Barnett in the middle.
What a linebacker crew.
AJ Hawk, 1. Packer legend, 2. Pure, unsullied human being
I feel like every time I watch this show there is one thing that I find overwhelmingly funny and it’s done effortlessly…the under the breath ”That’s P.I. in my book” took me out in this one 😂🤣💀
I swear one of Pat's best skills is finding what someone is good at and praising them for it
He was such an under rated middle backer sin one of the best edge rushers was on the team! Which puts all the pressure on middles to stop the run and play pass on big downs! AJ was a freak!
I love how he’s still pissed about it you can just tell the way he still has it in his head clear as day after so many hits to the head
Vander Esch is the last high draft pick at MLB that I can recall.. and he was pick #15 😱
Played against AJ when we were both 11…Centerville v. Beavercreek. He was obviously good but it wasn’t apparent he’d become an absolute monster
Yeah you'd never know how my dude Hawk used to ball out watching him on the show everyday. He's so chill here, but AJ at Ohio St or GB was a killa 👏🏽👏🏽
I love AJ Hawks reactions, to all his praise. Dude is confident and humble. Matter of fact. My type of dood.
AJ is part of my extended family. He is such a nice guy and well spoken even soft spoke
Wasn't an Ohio State fan but man I loved watching AJ play in college. Dude was legit as legit gets!!
What’s crazy is he was the lowest recruit out of the three monster linebackers that Ohio state recruited that year. The best athlete of them all and a huge what if in five star, number one linebacker, Mike Deandrea (injuries ruined him) and a guy named Bobby Carpenter who didn’t do much at Ohio state until his last year or two. Hawk came in and from day one was a beast. No idea how he was so understated.
As a Saints fan, that was most definitely not PI. I remember this particular play very well, and I also remember that Darren had no shot at the ball after AJ swatted it out of the air, and the contact with Darren came after the play was basically dead and he had no shot at it.
Maybe I'm the lone voice as a Packer fan, but I remember AJ Hawk getting BEAT all the time by athletic TE's running down the middle and him about a step and a half behind. He also had trouble covering sideline to sideline consistently. He was good at open field tackling when the RB runs right to him. But covering a TE in space or covering a RB in the flat? Advantage other team. I love AJ Hawk for what he did in the Green Bay community off the field, but on the field he wasn't exactly LT.
@Joe Turner OMG, I know. All the time.
