All of that because bombers used to be the stress free and meta independent way of grinding. I'd wish for bombers to stay with fighters, but i don't know with gaijin's frustration based balancing if it would ever lead to anything good

@@MausOfTheHouse True, i mean jet bombers are bombers, just that instead of dying to props climbing blobs you die to missiles (except if you are TU-4 then you also die from missiles) and strike aircrafts that either have better weapons and an airspawn, making them better fighters than attackers, or don't have anything and can just use their airspawn as a way to die quicker

To have fun at this game you need to either play low tier props, or any tier jet. High tier props are just fucked

This BR is a pain to fly, i play both late german and late US props and the Repair costs are back breaking really.
Once i got 3 kills in the 109 k4, got shot down and i still lost some SL despite having a 3/1 k/d ratio. their repair costs are a firm way for gaijin to abolutely frustrate the hell out of their players to buy premium time because without premium the average player will lose hundreds of thousands of SL easily.
Other reason why not that many play lower tiers than jets: Probably the majority of players that started in 2013/4/5 are now in the high tiers and grinding those out, so they don't have as much time to go to the more interesting tiers.
Also, great that you noticed that AFK climbers are great to farm time/SL/RP with usually no issue to win by tickets (aka playing the actual objective).

I always found the top tier props (especially the Bearcat) fun because of their acceleration and their max speed in a straight line. Before the thermodynamics update, I would sit at just below cloud level with 600 km/h in IAS and pick on anyone who broke through the clouds.
Before the thermo update the Bearcat was insanely good, even more so earlier before it got nerfed. Kind of deserved the nerf, since it was basically ultra clubbing every other prop in the game back in those days, but also a bit sad to see how much of a shadow of its former glory it is now.
3:45 can't be overstated, the 288 spam still is going pretty strong

@@quartzlandaker5664 faster than some fighters or at least keeps a fair speed meaning more time to use the gunners, gets an airspawn, premium, annoying in ground rb since it has a good bomb load and is a fast plane, the one shots from a single 20mm are also strong with this one
@@quartzlandaker5664 thats incredibly inaccurate. I can dogfight fighters with confidence in mine. Fast and puts fires out easily, handles damage very well and almost always gets back to base.
Playing the french one, absolutely destroying ennemies teams with it (jet included) and becoming fucking rich, is the ONLY time I’ve ever thought “yeah maybe repair costs aren’t that bad”
If you think the RB repair costs are bad for high tier props, don't look at the sim costs :( Sim EC is so fun but you have to stick to low tier if you don't want to go bankrupt. Especially stay away from the jets.

Repair costs/time are a big reason I almost stopped playing entirely. Getting to Tier 3 and not being able to order any, or even train a crew to operate. It's the dumbest fucking thing in the game next to midmap AA. By trying to squeeze more money out of players getting them to purchase GE to buy SL. They make it so that if you don't do that, and you don't grind and grind and grind SL, You literally can't play the game for up to days at a time depending on repair time. I can do a single match of Air Arcade and Red Wrench an entire lineup of 5 aircraft, and then have to wait hours for those tier 2 planes to repair before I can play anything again.

The f8f (and all of 5.7-6.7) is a tragic tale but the f4u 4b was my favorite plane, until I ran out of free repairs... (cries in 23k repair cost)

No way, the 2 fw 190s you shrekked where from my squadron xD well done good vid, do a video ground attacking with fireflashes! It's hard but they go off top down like a tow 2b so its satisfying asf when you get one. Feel you about the repair costs the plane i enjoy the most is the last merlin spit but it costs 15k to repair and every game has a cloud of Ta-152s you have to work your way above otherwise its game over, the Ju 288s are annoying aswell since nothing can catch them unless you dive on it, if the enemy team has 4 of them they'll rinse the bases and the airfield by the time the fighters can get up to their altitude.
The 162 is great because it’s so fast for its battle rating. It can even smash past 1000km/h in a dive and not suffer from compression. You have to play it as a jet through and through. Fast, don’t turn hard, maintain your energy. It’s a pocket rocket for 6.3 really

Got this plane a few days ago, been loving it so far. Mainly using it for Ground RB tho
C205 serie 3 is a pretty fun prop to fly too. It's got the same engine as the 109 so it has good high alt performance but it has more guns with more ammo than the 109.
This still remains my favorite Prop fighter.
The repair cost is just so painful though.
I don’t think many people enjoy using planes that heavily punish them if they don’t go god mode. F-86K and Cl-13b mk6 also suffer from ridiculous repair costs. You should revisit one of them.

Man, look the way you played this plane, made me wanna give it another try, I grind it, but played not much more than 3 matches. I suffer in it, and the repair costs, didnt made any easier.
I'd love to see a list of planes which are the most fun/best, but aren't worth playing just due to Repair cost. I was thinking about this when playing the early YAK jets which have ridiculous repair costs.
Same with the SK60B it’s tons of fun but has a 31k repair cost
Yeah i stopped playing this br because of the repair costs. Its a shame because this br has in my opinion the coolest planes, and i always loved playing with the f8f and f7f
Thankyou for bringing attention to the problem of repair costs. I want to add to the discussion.
Intro:
I know that I have a lot of aircraft that I want to fly, but I just won't when it costs as much or more than what I usually make in a match. I honestly think that they could just reduce the repair costs, maybe put a cap at 10k SL and then reduce the SL multipliers. Or perhaps people would fly the planes that they think are more fun if all the fighters had the same SL multipliers and the same repair cost. Or no repair cost. I have heard that repair cost is a way to balance a vehicle, but I think that is by making people not play it. If it's OP, it's OP. Making it require 3 kills to break even is not going to make is not OP, it's just going to mean that only skilled players fly it... which could expand the problem.
Story of My Experience:
I used to fly in Warthunder sim mode, now I fly in IL-2 GB because thinking about things like spawn SL costs was annoying when making line ups. And yes, the same repair cost problem that is found in air RB is in air SB. I was a decent pilot, I would usually get about 3-7 kills in a life when I was flying regularly, and using the same couple of planes a lot. I was originally an avid bomber pilot until I got the Pe-8. At that point I lost all of my SL (and I mean I had to fly bi-panes it was that bad) in a series of about 5 flights where I shot down a minimum of 3 planes, and dropped bombs on target 3 times. I was not gun-shipping, I was just getting attacked by J7W1s constantly. One of those missions I shot down 1 plane, hit the target, and landed at my airfield... I lost SL on that flight. I started flying fighter planes at that point, got as good as stated above and then found planes that looked cool, like the LA-9 and P-51H (15k SL and 20k SL at the time), but I would never fly, because they had the same problem as the Pe-8. Basically, as Spit_flyer stated in this video, nobody wants to fly it if it costs that much. So there are a lot of aircraft that are simply under represented because of the repair cost.
Conclusion:
In my opinion, the whole Repair cost system has to be done away with and we need to add about 5 new BRs to handle the balancing issue. Yes that would take some time to sort out, but it would be worth it. Even if that's not the solution, something has to be done.
Anyone else have thoughts?

Many people KS on bombers or in general for the battle tasks/Special tasks, I've seen it a lot
In sim battles it can get worse for repair cost. The Ki-84 hei Hayate (spaded) has a repair cost of 21,743 silver lions. A MiG-29 will cost you 27 263 and a f-16a will cost you 27 041. I'll be honest I haven't really flown jets so I'm not sure what a 3 hour (or close to) match in a jet would be like for outcome of silver lions.
Another weird thing is how certain planes get different battle ratings from sim to rb. A7m1 goes from 5(rb) to 4(sim). J2m2 4.3 to 3.7. Yak-3 (VK-107) 5.7 to 6.3. You get the idea :P

A magnificent plane to fly, but not quite the monster it used to be. With the possible exception of bomber hunting I believe the F2G performs the same role but is more optimised. The Bearcat will struggle to out-turn the Japanese planes and the Spitfires, but can't really run from them in the way the F2G can. Plus, the F2G won't explode from overheating. Now the Bearcat is quite average.
I like the guns on the bearcat tbh. That and its better turning circle, although I definitely agree on the Japanese fighters

The TU4 was the nail in the coffin for this br. They annihilated bombers and de-incentiviced their use.

ive been noticing the long match times lately.. i play the D-13 for grinding SL.. there have been a few times where i was one of two fighters and the rest were bombers.. also noticing there have only been around 50K players online at the times im on.. makes me wonder why and if this game will die eventually because gaijin uses the wrong tactics to balance *ahem* REPAIR COSTS! I love flying the Ta152 H-1 but ive kept from playing it because the rep cost is so high one or two bad matches makes me not want to play it
Could you make a video on the Ki-84s? There are very few videos about them on youtube and those are pretty old.
I never really thought much of the high repair costs for high tier props since planes like the F4U-4B is literally one of my best SL making planes purely bc its so good, but I realize that due to simple mathematics not everyone can get up to 8 kills per game when there's only usually 16 people per game, while surviving the match as well. I never really thought that the repair costs were why this tier is so empty, but now I do I really wish they were lowered, just so I can get matches with more people faster

when playing Air AB 6.7 my que times are generally 3-5 minutes long for 6v6s. It's even worse when a match goes to time.
Superprop BR (5.3-6.3) is the epitome of the grind problem in war thunder. It is a dead BR because repair costs are very high and most people are only playing at this tier to grind higher rank jets at a lower sl cost. Many planes at this BR have good multipliers for SL and RP and this combined with the exhorbinant SL and RP needs are you get higher in the research trees from this point leads to this BR basically becoming the grinding zone. Most matches i've played at this BR have been 6v6 with only 2 fighters on either side at most. It is incredibly boring to play if you are not grinding jets and want fun pvp gameplay. It is also very disappointing to me because I had been looking forward to flying some of the best props in the game but unfortunately at a dead BR those planes just arent that much fun to fly,
4:25 now this only happens with Germany. Only 2 109s to fight with the whole team consisting of ju288 c it’s fun to kill the fighters first and then go after the helpless bombers one at a time

The reason why 5.7 to 6.3 br is dead, is because of ju288c spam. Or of 7-8 players in the team, 4-5 will be bombers on germany, the allies would have 1-2 attackers and 7 fighters.

Warthunder seriously needs to get their fkin shit together. I mean I average 4-6 kills a game in this aircraft but my friends are afraid to fly it because it costs so much if they lose their aircraft. It's unfair. It doesn't balance the aircraft, it just outright kills it

Only prop plane I've played at this BR is the Italian G.56, and it was a nightmare at first which became bearable as I got modifications. Luckily, I spaded it in five or six games, before my free repairs ran out. That said, I really have no desire to play it any further. Once I get past those last repairs, it'll just become a drain on my Lions, and since I've already finished researching the whole tree, there's no need to use it for that.
With planes like this, I'd honestly just rather play their little brothers. The G.55 Sottoserie 0 at 4.0 is just as fun to play as the G.55 Serie 1 at 4.7 or the G.56 at 6.3, but without the huge repair cost. The F6F-5 at 3.7 is just as fun to play as the F8F-1B at 6.3, but without the huge repair cost. I still want to play and spade everything eventually, but there's no way I'm just wasting Lions flying them all the time when I can get similar experience with other planes.
I had a really positive experience with the G.56 until they killed the BR with insane repair costs
@@Spitflyer I only ever played it after it got moved to 6.3 and slapped with its high repair cost, so I wouldn't know unfortunately. It was still really fun once I had most of its upgrades.

@@Spitflyer It's pretty damn good, yeah. It's just that fucking repair cost. Plus, by the time I had spaded it, I was too eager to move on to the jets I'd researched.
They should also reduce the price of tier IV premiums, considering we are ar tier VII now, makes no sense for a tier IV to cost almost the same as a tier V or VI.
Also, repair costs are the reason why I don't fly my F4U B, i won't pay 26k per death
First video of the day for me and I noticed you said that this was while grinding an event, so is that a old video? Also I find the F8F has overheat issues that at this BR make it very hard to use and yes the cost is way too high to make it fun. As for Air RB it is the only mode i play and the one that I find the most fun but only in props for a fun dogfight.
This plane is fantastic but as a non-prem user I feel like the SL prize is a bit too low, even lower than most rank III airplanes and some rank II airplanes
My other favourite from this tier is F4U-4B, P51H, and Ki-83, these three are fantastic planes to fly but I only fly em when I'm sure I have enough money to spend!

Unfortunately I am not the best pilot as I am a console player and I do not play to a plane’s strength as I do not know their strengths. However I do climb at 3.3 matches and most of the time my team is dead. However when even just 1 teammate cooperates, I can play good enough. Btw my favourite planes are F4U-1’s and the P-47s

Thank you for talking about how dead that BR range! Nobody likes to play it too much BECAUSE of the repair costs which leads to such long queue times which leads to less people trying out the BR. Just proves that repair cost is a complete dogshit way for balancing planes.

Also you should do the p47n15; i think it has better turning than the other p47s, but it’s speed and climb (stock-ish) is terrible.
For me, the shitty thing about this tier is that due to Jets, the difference between an uptier and a downtier is like day and night. Uptiers arent fun.
